- Mary, Queen of Scots, faces political and sexual intrigue in the treacherous world of the French court.
- Sean and Tally continue to search for the truth about Zoe's disappearance. Meanwhile, Cameron and Nina find comfort in each other's arms as Peter launches his first bicycle off the new lot.
- Buoyed by a new business partner, Peter jets off to Europe to sign a big deal for the factory and his new investor Sunny goes with him unknown to Nina. Damien must find a way to prevent Galina from getting deported once their divorce is finalized. Meanwhile, Tally and Sean notice that huge sums of money are missing from Zoe's account after she was found dead.
- Nina and Cameron start planning for their future together unknown to Peter. Sean runs from the law when the police start to investigate Zoe's death and he begins to doubt Tally and follows her. Meanwhile, Beth's hopes are dashed when she tries to adopt privately but she ends up reuniting an El Salvador family in the process. Elsewhere, Damien finds out that Galina is playing him when she won't sign the divorce papers.
- Nina's intense attraction to Cameron is starting to obstruct her parenting abilities made worse by Peter's distance. After Colin Evett tells Peter that he will not be stopping using drugs at the same time that a sports editor asks Colin to do an on-the-spot drug test Peter's ad campaign sinks but he grows closer to Sunny because of it. Meanwhile, Tally briefly reunites with her sister Zoe against Sean's wishes for it to only bring heartache. Elsewhere, Frankie and Damien go on the run but soon realize it's not as much fun when you don't have money and Beth has a one-night stand with Maggie's pastry chef Pascal.
- Peter finds out about Nina and Cameron's affair from the accident and throws Nina out of their home. He then turns to Sunny for comfort. Nina finishes it with Cameron when she sees how much she has lost because of their affair. Galina lies to Damien about how she got bruising saying it was Razmik but Frankie has an encounter with Razmik's wife Judy who sets the record straight. Knowing that she's about to be kicked out of Damien's life for good she concocts a story about being pregnant with Damien's baby. Elsewhere, Maggie is highly suspicious of her brother Ramon's new fiancée Becca which is confirmed when she overhears Becca talking derogatorily about Ramon to a friend. Later, Ramon tells her that Becca has gone and that she should go back to what she used to love - nursing. Sean becomes highly suspicious of Tally when he finds she had Zoe's missing millions and is even more furious with her when he discovers that the money he asked her to give to the police is not done. At her motel, Tally later tells Sean that she accidentally killed Zoe and needs some of the money to get away. Leaving the motel she has an argument with Sean which the motel clerk reports. Trying to stop him Sean is shot in the stomach. Tally runs from the motel with the money leaving Sean bleeding.
- Dave Park is arrested when Tally's stolen millions are found in his office. Galina tells Damien that Razmik has left his wife and they are going back to Russia to raise the baby. Peter and Nina go to counseling and after wards they decide to try and reconcile for the sake of their kids but Peter's not sure that her feelings for Cameron have completely gone away. Peter finally decides he cannot trust her and tells her to go to Cameron. Kimberly goes to see her ex-husband Michael. Beth gets a call from the adoption agency to say that she will be able to adopt her Chinese baby girl. She also asks Cameron for a divorce. He goes to the airport with Beth and asks to go with her. At the same time Nina arrives at the airport and realizes she is too late. Sean gives Tally an ultimatum - leave with 100,000 or stay and tell the truth to the police. Elsewhere, Frankie goes out to a club with Walker Keyton and on her return Damien gives her a promise ring which she doesn't accept as she is unaware of how she really feels. Frankie, however, then gets disturbing news about her father and on her way to see Damien she is abducted. Sean hires a helicopter and throws a bag full of 100 dollar notes down onto to the streets below.
- After spending their first night together Sunny tells Peter that she lied about the ticket and that the ticket was indeed Kimberly's. Peter is furious with her as he defended her. An injured Sean goes to Maggie's asking for her help and he eventually gets her to help him find incriminating evidence about Tally. He is then admitted to hospital by Maggie when the bullet starts to cause problems. After his operation Detective Sinclaire arrests him telling him that Tally has come forward and accused him of killing her sister Zoe. Frankie finds Galina's pregnancy test and is uncomfortable when Galina and Damien meet. Damien wants Galina to take a paternity test. Galina tells Damien she is a carrier for a rare blood disease. Frankie strikes up a friendship with the hotel owner's cute son Walker Keyton. Nina asks for Peter's help in telling the kids that she's not coming home. Violet takes it particularly bad and leaves the house unknown to Peter and Nina. Beth meets Pascal again by accident and invites him out to dinner. He tells her his name isn't Pascal and he's not from France but Scotland and did so as all the best jobs go to French chefs. Beth is not amused and leaves him. Later, she finds that 300,000 has been taken from her bank account and confronts Cameron. He tells her that he has a half-sister whom he wanted to help out and gave her a luxury around the world cruise trip.
- When Simon, an English envoy, tells Mary that the English are aware of her fragile engagement to Francis, Mary and Francis put on a show to protect their alliance.
- After spending a childhood safely hidden away in a monastery, a teenage Mary Stuart arrives in France where she has been sent to secure Scotland's strategic alliance by formalizing her arranged engagement to the French King's dashing son, Prince Francis. Further complicating things is Bash, Francis' handsome, roguish half-brother and Francis' mother, Queen Catherine.
- When England's armies threaten Scotland's borders, Mary asks King Henry for help, but he refuses. Tomas, the son of the King of Portugal, proposes marriage to Mary, promising her aid against England if she'll abandon Francis and turn to Tomas instead. Francis puts Bash in jeopardy when he lets his feelings for Mary cloud his judgment.
- An attempt to scare Mary causes Queen Catherine to take drastic measures to make sure the guilty party is caught. Francis, aware of Bash and Mary's growing attraction, turns to Olivia. Bash ventures into the woods to pay his debt - the human sacrifice the pagans demand - and returns with blood on his hands. Meanwhile, Kenna comes clean with the girls about her affair with the King, to a mixed response.
- The King goes to war as an unlikely intruder locks down the castle. Mary and Francis realise they must overcome their argument and work together to save everyone at court.
- Mary has to decide if she is willing to lie and sentence a man to death in order to have King Henry let her out of her engagement to Prince Francis. Meanwhile, Francis and Bash are suspicious of Tomas' true intentions which will ultimately lead to a confrontation with disastrous results.

- When a plot to kill Bash goes wrong, Queen Catherine is suspected of orchestrating it. Mary offers to help free a wrongly imprisoned pregnant peasant named Isobel who has a mysterious tie to Bash. Meanwhile, Lola blackmails Queen Catherine to keep her from trying to ruin Mary and Bash, whose bond continues to grow.
- Pete's efforts to distance himself from the platoon and his brothers backfire.
- Henry returns from Rome unsuccessful, and accuses Catherine of adultery with Nostradamus with the goal of executing her. Catherine learns about Isobel's baby but the pagan mark on her foot is gone, making her useless as evidence against Bash. Mary and Bash learn that years ago Catherine had an affair and gave birth to a child before Francis was born. They inform Henry, who realizes that the father is his friend, Richard Delacroix, and has him imprisoned. Henry also rejects Catherine's attempts to out Bash and Diane as pagans, as he already knew about their heritage. Catherine has an encounter with Clarissa and, upon questioning Nostradamus, learns that the girl is a foundling who was disfigured by attempts Nostradamus' father made to remove a birthmark on her face; Clarissa is Catherine's daughter. Catherine attempts a murder-suicide with Mary, but Clarissa saves both of them, and Catherine is taken away to the tower to await her execution.
- When Clarissa kidnaps the younger children of King Henry and Queen Catherine, Mary and Bash work with the Queen to find them, with tragic results. Meanwhile, when Lola attempts to help her brother with a debt he owes, Francis rescues her, causing the two of them to grow closer.

This decision gets harder when Francis comes to court with Lola by his side after he saved her in the last episode. King Henry's downward spiral continues, leaving Penelope in charge, causing Catherine and Kenna to take drastic measures. Meanwhile, Lola becomes wary of Lord Julien's motives behind his marriage proposal.

Lord Julien (guest star Giacomo Gianniotti) reveals the truth about his motives, and Lola, blinded by love, finds herself in a dire situation after she attempts to protect him.
- Henry plots to kill Francis, and begins his efforts to woo and marry Mary. Leith returns to win Greer back. Lola goes into labour. Francis, Catherine and Mary plan a coup. The Darkness returns for Pascal.

Meanwhile, Kenna urges Bash to be formally recognized in his new role.

- Tensions between Protestants and Catholics escalate when bloodshed at a Protestant service causes an already concerned Mary and Francis to intervene on the eve of Greer's wedding. Bash and Leith lead a search for the guilty that reveals a surprising secret about Castleroy that could destroy his union with Greer. Meanwhile, Francis receives an unwelcome gift from his dead father. Kenna discovers a sex journal, with clues leading to the best lover at court, who just might be a match for Lola.
- Mary and Catherine leave for a town when their carriage is overrun and they leave for safety, but they are far from that. Lola and Narcisse become closer and Mary and Francis are still having some problems.
- While Francis and Bash are out trying to find Montgomery the Protestants are becoming more and more restless. Mary is alone at the castle and Protestant men storm it, leaving Mary in distress. Castleroy doesn't realise what he has been funding while he thought it was schools.
- Young, reckless and provocative Princess Claude makes a surprise visit home, torturing her already haunted mother, Catherine. Francis is pressured by Narcisse to act against his conscience or risk his throne and his wife. Mary finds a new ally in Condé. Francis confides in Bash and hatches a plot that involves an uncertain Lola. Kenna mistakes Claude for a newfound friend, while Greer returns earlier than expected from her wedding tour.
- The tensions between the Protestants and Catholics increases because of the edict Lord Narcisse blackmailed Francis into signing. Mary and Francis' relationship hits a wall due to the secrets he is keeping. Queen Catherine is still dealing with ghosts from her past while trying to deal with her daughter, Princess Claude.
- Mary and Conde set off to find who attacked Mary. Narcisse becomes Francis' puppet. Someone poisons Claude, and has Catherine gone mad? Could Mary and Francis return to normal after what happened? Mary finds Conde's letter, and is surprised by what she reads. Conde's brother pays him a visit.
- Bash and Francis figure out who is really behind the branding, and plot to stop the bloodshed. Mary and Greer help Prince Conde escape questions from the cardinal and end up at Conde's brothers palace, during a scandalous party. Kenna tries to help the princess Claude from Katherine, who is mad and hallucinating that she must avenge her long dead twin daughters.

Meanwhile, Greer (Celina Sinden) finds herself in a situation she never fathomed in order to survive.
