- While visiting nearby Carson County, Roy, Dale and Pat meet Jamie Howard, a little girl whose horse has been stolen. It turns out that the animal was taken by an outlaw who is framing Jamie's father for a robbery.
- Dale is worried about her nephew Bob, who hero-worships a notorious gunfighter. It turns out that the gunfighter is actually fronting for a vicious gang of holdup men.
- Jerry King, an orphaned teenager, gets mixed up with outlaw leader Colt Eggers. Eggers gives Jerry the job of killing Roy. However, Roy takes the boy under his wing, and soon Jerry isn't quite sure which side of the law he wants to be on.
- The Hard Luck Insurance Company claims that it will insure a rancher for the rest of his life for just one payment. Roy suspects the company is a racket, and sets out to investigate.
- A dying prospector confides to Roy that the map to his gold mine is hidden in a shaft in the old abandoned Bedford Mine. When his widow comes to Mineral City, Roy and Dale set out to help her find the map.
- Amity Bailey and her husband assist in the capture of three thieves.
- A member of the Castle outlaw gang hears Dale say that "the key to the greatest treasure in the world is in that book". He tells the gang, which will stop at nothing to find out what book she's talking about and how to get their hands on it.
- Jerry Hill is the star witness against the Collins outlaw gang. After Jerry is ambushed and almost killed, Roy has to make sure he keeps Jerry alive and well so he can testify against the gang.
- An outlaw gang leader loses his prize horse that he has used to out-run many a posse. Realizing he needs his trusty steed to steal $50,000 being shipped to the local bank, he forces Roy to find his horse in a hurry.
