- After being fired, young car mechanic Djuro gets recommendation to look for another job in a remote village. His new boss is warm, old-fashioned, and naive--completely opposite from the world he's coming from. The peaceful atmosphere is shaken when Djuro falls for a regular customer's wife.
- On New Years Day, two innocent 12-year-old boys in a small town buys vodka for a young female teacher, Katerina's (Natálie Rehorová) and two other men (David (Martin Pechlát), her boyfriend, and his friend Stepanand (Jirí Cerný). They are invited to the house. Here they experience their first encounter with sexuality. The children lose track of time. They were expected home long ago. They drink, throw up and are intoxicated by love and "the shameless, unbridled and licentious" world in which David, Katerina and Stepán live.
- Lutvija Belmondo Mirga narrates a story about four generations. Belmondo is the central character of the film, a gypsy king who decides to establish his own gypsy village and names it Shanghai. Belmondo makes a living smuggling, and his power and influence grows. He even gets the local police and politics on his side, which helps him become untouchable by law. But with Yugoslavia's downfall, arms smuggling replaces goods smuggling. Though lucrative, the business starts to threaten Belmondo's personal life and he finds himself at a crossroads. Will he protect his own family or sacrifice his personal happiness for business ambitions? Shanghai Gypsy is a story about longing for happiness; it is a story about love and family ties, in which tears are intertwined with laughs. The story is set in the time of Yugoslavia's downfall and shot int the authentic Romani language.
- Kovac and Dara, whose childhoods start badly, meet in an orphanage and get attached to each other. After 10 years, when they are in their teens and share an immature view of the world, they accidentally meet again. Kovac is a gang leader and Dara lives a lonely life in her own enchanted world. When the rascals find themselves caught between loyalty to different mob bosses and running from corrupted policeman, their juvenile illusions disappear. The way back is hardly possible. Will the rascals manage to run beyond? Will Kovac and Dara be able to save their wasted youths and begin new lives?

Finding his path among his family members, hippie owners of music records, schoolmates, teachers, communists and dissidents. Egon gets his record player in the end. And grows up somewhere along the way.
