At 11:30 pm, the broadcast switches to the Waldorf Astoria ballroom, where Guy Lombardo and his orchestra plays several songs including: "Let's Do it Again," "Jean," "Aquarius," "Lara's Theme," Muddy Mississippi Line," Humoresque," "I Give My Regards to Broadway," "Hail, Hail, The Gang's All Here," "You are my Sunshine," "Hello Dolly," "When the Saints Go Marching In," "You are my Sunshine," "Alley Cat," "The Tarantella," "Tomorrow," sung by Tony Poncho, and "Powder Your Face with Sunshine." Just before midnight, the cameras switch to Times Square, where Dave Garroway describes the festivities that occur in Times Square. The ball slowly descends and Guy Lombardo counts down the last seconds of the 1960s. At exactly the stroke of midnight they play Auld Lang Syne. Guest stars include Helen O' Connell, Don Grilly and Lesley Stewart. After midnight, Helen O'Connell sings "My Way," "I'm All Smiles" medley: "Amapola," "Green Eyes," "Tangerine." "I Want to be Around," and "Who Cares." Don Grilly and Lesley Stewart sing "Before the Parade Passes By," "So Happy Together," "Goin' Out Of My Head," and "I Love You Baby." The special was sponsored by Pepsi-Cola and was syndicated, rather than broadcast on a network.
