- Tom is a vagabond and crook, who ingratiates himself and two pals with a rich lumberman by means of a stolen letter of introduction. The atmosphere of clean living arouses a desire in him to go straight, so that instead of robbing the old man as they had planned, he tries to dissuade the other two. They, however, steal the payroll, and when Tom goes after them he is suspected. He brings back the money and marries the lumberman's daughter.

- Jim Carvel takes a cabin in the woods and under the pretext of trapping wolves clears the town of the bad sheriff and his lieutenant. The girl's brother is the cashier of the bank, and after falling into debt to the bad men is forced to take the amount from the bank and place explosives in the vault. Jim watches him from the window and before the fuse is burnt runs in and steals the money from the vault. When he is surrounded in the girl's home he manages to get the drop on the mob and shows his badge revealing that he is the U. S. Deputy that the village judge had sent for. The sheriff and his aide are arrested and the girl forgives Jim.
- Bob and Bill go on a camping trip. While setting up camp, they encounter a young badger. They capture it and manage to learn quite a bit about its life and habitat.

They follow him to the desert where the girl pretends to be dying and is taken in by Tom. He falls in love with her and she with him, and eventually tells him of her plot. After a proof of her love, Tom forgives her and they are happy.

A strong affection springs up between Tom and Granny and it is not long before he discovers that she is in a lot of trouble because her scapegrace son is trying to marry the girl and secure control of the property. The opportunity soon arrives when Grandmother is glad to take advantage of Tom's proffered assistance. In an encounter, he overcomes the villainous son and sets all of his schemes at naught, winning Grandmother's gratitude and the affection of the girl for whom he promises to return after she has grown up.
- Doreon, a French-Canadian trapper, is in love with Babette, but she favors bad-boy Blake, who has skipped town to avoid arrest. Doreon vows to find Blake and bring him back.
