- "Andes Extremo" invites viewers on an extraordinary journey with Gabriel Tarso, Edson Vandeira, and Branca Franco, three seasoned Brazilian mountaineers, as they embark on an epic exploration at the world's largest mountain range. This gripping series, produced by Canvas 24P and directed by Wiland Pinsdorf, unveils the mysteries of remote and uncharted peaks, capturing the essence of their awe-inspiring adventure. The backdrop of "Andes Extremo" is set against a combination of six towering mountains, each surpassing six thousand meters in altitude. As the trio confronts the challenges of these formidable heights, the series delves into the rich tapestry of a millennia-old culture that laid the foundation for the greatest pre-Columbian empire in the Americas. Gabriel Tarso, renowned outdoor photographer and cinematographer, brings a wealth of experience from diverse locations such as Ethiopia, Tanzania, Russia, the Andes, Alaska, and Hawaii. His journey culminated in reaching the summit of Everest for the second time in May 2022, a testament to his passion for exploration and adventure. Edson Vandeira, a photographer and mountaineer, contributes his talents to National Geographic, exclusively represented by the National Geographic Image Collection in the USA. With four Everest expeditions under his belt, Vandeira's powerful images illuminate the environmental challenges and endangered cultures faced by communities in the world's highest reaches. Branca Franco, an exceptional mountaineer, achieved the remarkable feat of being the first and only Brazilian woman to conquer the formidable Fitz Roy in Argentine Patagonia. Breaking barriers, she also became the first Brazilian woman to summit the Sphinx, the tallest rock wall in Peru, and reached the summit of Agulha Guillaumet in 2018 as part of a female climbing team. As the series unfolds over two months of filming, the trio explores mountains nestled in culturally rich regions. In these remote villages, where dialects like "Quechua" prevail over Spanish, the production captures the echoes of Inca civilization. Inca ruins at the base and traces at the summits of many mountains provide a tangible link to the past, allowing the audience to witness the fusion of history and adventure. In each episode, "Andes Extremo" goes beyond the physical challenges of mountaineering, documenting the stories and traditions of the local inhabitants. Sacred rituals and the profound significance of offerings become integral parts of the narrative, creating a seamless blend of history and adventure that promises viewers an unforgettable and enlightening experience.
