- This festival took place from 1974 to 2000 and was recognized by the FIAPF as a competitive festival specialized in European films.
- It is succeeded by the Brussels European Film Festival that took place from 2001 to 2017.
- Not to be confused with this other festival "Brussels International Film Festival (BRIFF)" which is not related. The first edition of this festival took place in 2018 and is continuing recently.
