Cinéma du Réel
Paris, France
Notes
- The festival takes place since 1979.
- Cinéma du Réel, international film festival of visual anthropology and social documentation, was set up by the Bibliotheque Publique d'Information de Centre Pompidou (BPI) together with the Centre for Scientific Research and the Ethnographic Film Committee in 1979, with an aim of promoting documentary cinema.
- The event is organized by the BPI with the Association of Friends of Cinéma du Réel, which was formed in 1984 with Joris Ivens as honorary President, and devotes itself to arouse interest for the festival in different countries, so as to offer better scope for ethnographic and sociological films and to make them known to the widest possible audience.
