Director: Spike Jonze | Stars: Nicolas Cage, Meryl Streep, Chris Cooper, Tilda Swinton

Votes: 202,890 | Gross: $22.25M

Don't quite know how to describe it. It's not to everyones taste, but Nicolas Cage playing an overweight, balding, nervous wreck of a writer with an intorable twin brother is great. Less Ghost Rider Nic.

2. American Beauty (1999)

R | 122 min | Drama

84 Metascore

A sexually frustrated suburban father has a mid-life crisis after becoming infatuated with his daughter's best friend.

Director: Sam Mendes | Stars: Kevin Spacey, Annette Bening, Thora Birch, Wes Bentley

Votes: 1,209,795 | Gross: $130.10M

Kevin Spacey throwing everything away and stripping the plastic from his American suburbs is extemely satisfying. "For you Brad? I got FIVE!" "*beep* me your Majesty!" Theres far too many great quotes. The soundtrack is brilliant aswel.

Votes: 318,122 | Gross: $148.48M

A confluence of my three favourite things; misanthropy, racism and Jack Nicholson.

Two childhood friends are pro athletes of a national sport called BASEketball, a hybrid of baseball and basketball, and must deal with a greedy businessman scheming against their team.

Director: David Zucker | Stars: Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Dian Bachar, Yasmine Bleeth

Votes: 66,342 | Gross: $6.94M

I could watch this on mute. The facial expressions say it all. Trey Parker getting ambushed by eggs in a Saving Private Ryan style is perhaps my favourite moment.

5. Batman (1989)

PG-13 | 126 min | Action, Adventure

69 Metascore

The Dark Knight of Gotham City begins his war on crime with his first major enemy being Jack Napier, a criminal who becomes the clownishly homicidal Joker.

Director: Tim Burton | Stars: Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, Kim Basinger, Robert Wuhl

Votes: 403,887 | Gross: $251.19M

A lovely dark twist by Burton. It's a mature step from the Adam West series, but still early enough to be considered pretty silly. It's a perferct balance. Jack Nicholson as the Joker - great. I won't bring up a "who's better?" for the joker role. Ledger and Nicholson were both great.

6. Blow (2001)

R | 124 min | Biography, Crime, Drama

The story of how George Jung, along with the Medellín Cartel headed by Pablo Escobar, established the American cocaine market in the 1970s in the United States.

BOSTON GEORGE. Actually can't think of anything to say about it. Great movie. I'd blow it.

Votes: 2,867,050 | Gross: $534.86M

Now i'm always smiling! I think I watched the trailer for this every day for months before it came out. AND IT DIDN'T DISSAPOINT. Heath Ledgend. What sort of name is Heath?

9. The Devil's Advocate (1997)

Votes: 401,422 | Gross: $60.98M

Al Pacino as the Devil. If Koepp hadn't done it then someone else soon would have. Pacino's dialogue in this incredibly awesome.

Director: John McTiernan | Stars: Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman, Bonnie Bedelia, Reginald VelJohnson

Votes: 944,324 | Gross: $83.01M

The full set deserves to be in here. But the original stands for them all. A great action movie that everyone feels at home with. Also, "Live free or Die Hard?" I'll stick with Die Hard 4.0 thanks.

11. Ed Wood (1994)

Director: Tim Burton | Stars: Johnny Depp, Martin Landau, Sarah Jessica Parker, Patricia Arquette

Votes: 183,873 | Gross: $5.89M

Fell asleep half way through but watched it again and I now love it. Depps squeeky clean portayal of Ed Wood is sickly, but morish.

12. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

89 Metascore

When their relationship turns sour, a couple undergoes a medical procedure to have each other erased from their memories forever.

Director: Michel Gondry | Stars: Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Tom Wilkinson, Gerry Robert Byrne

Votes: 1,076,790 | Gross: $34.40M

Jim Carrey plays a role without using all 54 muscles in his face. A brilliant movie about the inevitable downfall of relationships - that's genuinly a main theme in the movie, but obviously it's far far more complex than that.

Director: Terry Gilliam | Stars: Johnny Depp, Benicio Del Toro, Tobey Maguire, Michael Lee Gogin

Johnny Depp's best role ever. I'd judge you if you didn't want to wash down some acid with a Singapore Sling after watching this movie.

Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Kevin Spacey, Alec Baldwi.... SOLD, give me the *beep* movie, I don't care what it's about. And in actual fact, the plot is very bland, but the acting just makes the movie explode to life. I can watch it over and over.

Bill Murray, being miserable, over and over and over and over. That script is gold.

A faded movie star and a neglected young woman form an unlikely bond after crossing paths in Tokyo.

Director: Sofia Coppola | Stars: Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Giovanni Ribisi, Anna Faris

Votes: 487,954 | Gross: $44.59M

Bill Murray again, but not really a comedy. Two people completely alienated in Tokyo's culture, form a really nice bond that is something far beyond looks. It's a great movie that just peacefully flows over you. Suntory Time.

Director: Gore Verbinski | Stars: Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley

Votes: 1,209,055 | Gross: $305.41M

This is for all three films. Jack Sparrow is just bloody cool, his camp pirate act was bewildering at first, but we all embraced him like our own gay son. Davey Jones was one of the greatest things about the trilogy. Will and Elizabeth can burn in hell.

23. The Shining (1980)

R | 146 min | Drama, Horror

Never read the comics but I was totally into the film noir, comic book style of this movie. Let's be honest, without it's visuals it wouldn't be much.

Votes: 129,055 | Gross: $124.73M

Jack's still got it in his old age. Yeah, i'm calling him Jack. Look at the movie cover that says "Jack & Diane." Actually, that doesn't bother me too much, but "What Happens in Vegas." - "Cameron and Ashton," no, just no. Don't try and put them on first name terms with me as if they are my buddies, bunch of shoddy actors who sign up to anything. Not you Jack & Diane, you guys are great.

Very interesting, twisted movie. Not watched it in a long time, but I used to be obsessed with this movie so felt it deserved a place. Count yourself lucky Tom Cruise, you nearly didn't make it. Citizen Dildo.

Votes: 232,168 | Gross: $36.95M

It's the Pacino gangster movie that didn't get the hype that Scarface got. Personally I think this is better.

R | 138 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery

91 Metascore

Votes: 617,158 | Gross: $64.62M

Not many people know of this movie but they bloody well should. Kevin Spacey - brilliant, Guy Pearce - awesome, Russell Crowe... not a total douche. Great cast, great story. Off the record, on the QT and very hush-hush.
