10 titles
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsJesse EisenbergAndrew GarfieldJustin TimberlakeAs Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg creates the social networking site that would become known as Facebook, he is sued by the twins who claimed he stole their idea and by the co-founder who was later squeezed out of the business.it was a close race between this movie and the king's speech..but overall, this movie stands out the most.
- DirectorTom HooperStarsColin FirthGeoffrey RushHelena Bonham CarterThe story of King George VI, his unexpected ascension to the throne of the British Empire in 1936, and the speech therapist who helped the unsure monarch overcome his stammer.colin firth and geoffrey rush are amazing.
- DirectorDanny BoyleStarsJames FrancoAmber TamblynKate MaraA mountain climber becomes trapped under a boulder while canyoneering alone near Moab, Utah and resorts to desperate measures in order to survive.i have always loved james franco, and his performance in this movie blew me away.
- DirectorDavid O. RussellStarsMark WahlbergChristian BaleAmy AdamsBased on the story of Micky Ward, a fledgling boxer who tries to escape the shadow of his more famous but troubled older boxing brother and get his own shot at greatness.i love mark, but christian bale's role totally out-shined everyone else.
- DirectorDebra GranikStarsJennifer LawrenceJohn HawkesGarret DillahuntAn unflinching Ozark Mountain girl hacks through dangerous social terrain as she hunts down her drug-dealing father while trying to keep her family intact.i wasn't completely blown away by the plot of the movie..but i loved jennifer lawrence. i feel she got robbed of the best actress award.
- DirectorLee UnkrichStarsTom HanksTim AllenJoan CusackThe toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home.who doesn't love woody and buzz lightyear?
i liked how easy it was to be drawn back into childhood again - DirectorEthan CoenJoel CoenStarsJeff BridgesMatt DamonHailee SteinfeldA stubborn teenager enlists the help of a tough U.S. Marshal to track down her father's murderer.again, not too thrilled with this plot either..but hailee steinfeld was so amazing. it is too bad she lost to melissa leo
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster.as an artist, i definitely believe this movie was one of the most visual and conceptional to come along in a while...and i loved the characters.
but as the movie went on, i got less amazed and a lot more....annoyed ? (for lack of a better word). the plot took a turn from interesting to borderline ridiculous towards the end. i am all about challenging the mind..but..come on. - DirectorDarren AronofskyStarsNatalie PortmanMila KunisVincent CasselNina is a talented but unstable ballerina on the verge of stardom. Pushed to the breaking point by her artistic director and a seductive rival, Nina's grip on reality slips, plunging her into a waking nightmare.natalie portman...great performance..but i don't think her character was anything extraordinary for her..she always delivers quite well in her roles (in my opinion).
plot- did not care for at all. one thing that can be good or bad is an ending with unanswered questions..and in this movie, i felt that there were just too many things left for the audience to guess at..so it was not one of the best movies to me.
on a side note...vincent cassel..je t'aime. - DirectorLisa CholodenkoStarsAnnette BeningJulianne MooreMark RuffaloTwo children conceived by artificial insemination bring their biological father into their non-traditional family life.i'm not even sure why this movie was nominated....?
it was okay.
