Some of these are great movies, but by strong reccomendations or too high of expectations I was disappointed in all of them as they didn't live up to the hype for me.

- DirectorFrancis Ford CoppolaStarsMarlon BrandoAl PacinoJames CaanThe aging patriarch of an organized crime dynasty transfers control of his clandestine empire to his reluctant son.Had I seen this when it came out I might have enjoyed it more. Definitely a classic and a great movie, but it just didn't meet my expectations. I went in thinking this would be one of the greatest movies I'd ever see and it's a lot lower on that list than I thought it would be.
- DirectorBrian De PalmaStarsAl PacinoMichelle PfeifferSteven BauerIn 1980 Miami, a determined Cuban immigrant takes over a drug cartel and succumbs to greed. This movie has lost all of it's novelty because it has so many great lines that are abused so badly. I thought it was a good movie, but I just didn't understand what was so "great" about it.
- DirectorJohn HillcoatStarsViggo MortensenCharlize TheronKodi Smit-McPheeIn a dangerous post-apocalyptic world, an ailing father defends his son as they slowly travel to the sea.It was very thrilling at times and different from most I'd seen, but it just moved too slow.
- DirectorFred ZinnemannStarsGary CooperGrace KellyThomas MitchellA town Marshal, despite the disagreements of his newlywed bride and the townspeople around him, must face a gang of deadly killers alone at "high noon" when the gang leader, an outlaw he "sent up" years ago, arrives on the noon train.A lot of build up for a quick and disappointing shootout. Good movie, but it won't find itself very high on my favorite westerns list as I thought it would.
- DirectorGreg MottolaStarsMichael CeraJonah HillChristopher Mintz-PlasseTwo co-dependent high school seniors are forced to deal with separation anxiety after their plan to stage a booze-soaked party goes awry. The title says it all, it truly is "super-bad". The scenes with the cops were pretty funny, but using f*&% every other word and wanting to get laid and drunk isn't.
- DirectorJohn MooreStarsMark WahlbergMila KunisBeau BridgesComing together to solve a series of murders in New York City are a police detective and an assassin, who will be hunted by the police, the mob, and a ruthless corporation.A movie I would've forgotten much about already had it not been on FX the other day. It's not bad there's just nothing special about it.
- DirectorGore VerbinskiStarsJohnny DeppOrlando BloomKeira KnightleyJack Sparrow races to recover the heart of Davy Jones to avoid enslaving his soul to Jones' service, as other friends and foes seek the heart for their own agenda as well.Probably one of the most dissapointing sequels I've ever had the displeasure of viewing.
- DirectorGore VerbinskiStarsJohnny DeppOrlando BloomKeira KnightleyCaptain Barbossa, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann must sail off the edge of the map, navigate treachery and betrayal, find Jack Sparrow, and make their final alliances for one last decisive battle. And then this one came along.
- DirectorJon FavreauStarsRobert Downey Jr.Mickey RourkeGwyneth PaltrowWith the world now aware of his identity as Iron Man, Tony Stark must contend with both his declining health and a vengeful mad man with ties to his father's legacy. The other one was cool to me and I thought I'd really enjoy this one, but it was just too cheesey. Micky Rourke made a great villian and was the best part of this movie.
- DirectorPaul Thomas AndersonStarsDaniel Day-LewisPaul DanoCiarán HindsA story of family, religion, hatred, oil and madness, focusing on a turn-of-the-century prospector in the early days of the business.I will admit I went into this movie thinking it was going to be a completely different type of movie than what it was, but looking back I just wasn't entertained. It was beautifully shot and well acted, but I didn't care for the storyline or how it jumped around in an attempt at a story line.
- DirectorJudd ApatowStarsAdam SandlerSeth RogenLeslie MannWhen seasoned comedian George Simmons learns of his terminal, inoperable health condition, his desire to form a genuine friendship causes him to take a relatively green performer under his wing as his opening act.I wasted enough time on this film by putting it on list and watching it so there's no need to explain.
- DirectorMilos FormanStarsJack NicholsonLouise FletcherMichael BerrymanIn the Fall of 1963, a Korean War veteran and criminal pleads insanity and is admitted to a mental institution, where he rallies up the scared patients against the tyrannical nurse.I was told this was the "greatest movie ever" by many people and it was great it just wasn't the orgasmic experience everyone claims it to be.
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsTobey MaguireKirsten DunstTopher GraceA strange black entity from another world bonds with Peter Parker and causes inner turmoil as he contends with new villains, temptations, and revenge.Too many villians in one movie with no character development. A lot of good action CGI and stunts, but that's about it.
- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsHarrison FordCate BlanchettShia LaBeoufIndiana Jones becomes entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skulls. As good as the others are I was hoping this would at least be half as good, but it wasn't. I hated the person they brought back to be his wife and they had no chemistry. Cate Blanchett and her terrible accent didn't help either along with Ray Winestone's character. It did seem to have some of the same elements as the other films, but I just didn't care anything about the characters in it.
- DirectorMichael BayStarsShia LaBeoufMegan FoxJosh DuhamelSam Witwicky leaves the Autobots behind for a normal life. But when his mind is filled with cryptic symbols, the Decepticons target him and he is dragged back into the Transformers' war.I really did enjoy the first one aside from Megan Fox's performance, but this one was just terrible.
- DirectorJorma TacconeStarsWill ForteKristen WiigVal KilmerFormer special operative MacGruber is called back into action to take down his arch-enemy, Dieter Von Cunth, who's in possession of a nuclear warhead and bent on destroying Washington, D.C.Just wasn't funny to me.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsRobert De NiroJodie FosterCybill ShepherdA mentally unstable veteran works as a nighttime taxi driver in New York City, where the perceived decadence and sleaze fuels his urge for violent action.I was hoping I'd see more of De Niro running around sporting a mohawk kicking ass, but I only got one scene. I can live with that, but I was still disappointed although it is a very good movie.
- DirectorRoger DonaldsonStarsJason StathamSaffron BurrowsStephen Campbell MooreMartine offers Terry a lead on a foolproof bank hit on London's Baker Street. She targets a roomful of safe deposit boxes worth millions in cash and jewelry along with a treasure trove of dirty secrets. This film just holds no special value for me and I love heist movies. I remember almost nothing about it other than the disappointment.
- DirectorWoody AllenStarsWoody AllenTracey UllmanHugh GrantA loser of a crook and his wife strike it rich when a botched bank job's cover business becomes a spectacular success.I probably should watch this again as I don't remember much and was a lot younger, but it just didn't live up to my expectations.
- DirectorSteven SoderberghStarsMatt DamonTony HalePatton OswaltThe U.S. government decides to go after an agro-business giant with a price-fixing accusation, based on the evidence submitted by their star witness, vice president-turned-informant Mark Whitacre. It was good and had some funny parts (most were in the trailer), but it was really boring.
- DirectorPeter HedgesStarsSteve CarellJuliette BinocheDane CookA widower finds out the woman he fell in love with is his brother's girlfriend.
- DirectorMike JudgeStarsRon LivingstonJennifer AnistonDavid HermanThree company workers who hate their jobs decide to rebel against their greedy boss.I thought this was funny, but I work in an office and thought this would have a lot more office humor and I was looking foward to that.
- DirectorAdam McKayStarsWill FerrellChristina ApplegateSteve CarellIn the 1970s, an anchorman's stint as San Diego's top-rated newsreader is challenged when an ambitious newswoman becomes his co-anchor.This has found many peoples funniest movies ever list, but it will never be on mine. It kept me entertained and I laughed, but it failed to be the LMAO everyone says it is.
- DirectorSylvester StalloneStarsSylvester StalloneJulie BenzMatthew MarsdenIn Thailand, John Rambo joins a group of mercenaries to venture into war-torn Burma, and rescue a group of Christian aid workers who were kidnapped by the ruthless local infantry unit.Really this one doesn't belong as I didn't expect much, but I didn't even get what I expected. The acting was horrible and the characters were really annoying.
- DirectorJohn FordStarsJohn WayneJeffrey HunterVera MilesAn American Civil War veteran embarks on a years-long journey to rescue his niece from the Comanches after the rest of his brother's family is massacred in a raid on their Texas farm.I love John Wayne and I'd watch this movie again, but I just got to the end feeling cheated as I thought I'd be watching one of the greatest westerns ever and didn't feel like I did.
- DirectorKathryn BigelowStarsJeremy RennerAnthony MackieBrian GeraghtyDuring the Iraq War, a Sergeant recently assigned to an army bomb squad is put at odds with his squad mates due to his maverick way of handling his work.Great performance from Jeremy Reener, but I don't see what all the fuss is about. I really thought it was "good" although I found a few scenes I thought needed a lot more thought and someone on hand to keep things "accurate".
- DirectorPaul GreengrassStarsMatt DamonJason IsaacsGreg KinnearDiscovering covert and faulty intelligence causes a U.S. Army officer to go rogue as he hunts for Weapons of Mass Destruction in an unstable region.I got to the end and realized I wasn't paying attention and wondered, "What? Did I just watch a movie?". I don't know why it just didn't capture my attention.
- DirectorKevin SmithStarsBruce WillisTracy MorganJuan Carlos HernándezJimmy's rare baseball card is robbed. Since it's his only hope to pay for his daughter's upcoming wedding, he recruits his cop partner Paul to track down the robber, a memorabilia-obsessed gangster.I love Bruce Willis and this is probably the first movie I've seen of his I didn't like. I hate Tracy Morgan and Sean William Scott so that probably didn't help.
- DirectorRicky GervaisMatthew RobinsonStarsRicky GervaisJennifer GarnerJonah HillA comedy set in a world where no one has ever lied, until a writer seizes the opportunity for personal gain.It just got boring and repetative.
- DirectorEthan CoenJoel CoenStarsBrad PittFrances McDormandGeorge ClooneyA disk containing mysterious information from a CIA agent ends up in the hands of two unscrupulous and daft gym employees who attempt to sell it.This movie had some really funny parts, but it just bored me.
- DirectorGrant HeslovStarsEwan McGregorGeorge ClooneyKevin SpaceyA reporter in Iraq might just have the story of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady, a guy who claims to be a former member of the U.S. Army's New Earth Army, a unit that employs paranormal powers in their missions.Probably went in with the wrong expectations on this one. It wasn't as funny as I was hoping.
- DirectorDennis DuganStarsAdam SandlerJohn TurturroEmmanuelle ChriquiAn Israeli Special Forces Soldier fakes his death so he can re-emerge in New York City as a hair stylist.I got a few cheap laughs from Adam Sandler and now I realize that's about all you can expect from him these days.
- DirectorJ.J. AbramsStarsChris PineZachary QuintoSimon PeggThe brash James T. Kirk tries to live up to his father's legacy with Mr. Spock keeping him in check as a vengeful Romulan from the future creates black holes to destroy the Federation one planet at a time.I found it boring and it didn't help that my wife did too so it kept me from paying a lot of attention.
- DirectorSylvester StalloneStarsSylvester StalloneJason StathamJet LiA CIA operative hires a team of mercenaries to eliminate a Latin dictator and a renegade CIA agent.I should have known going in what type of movie this would be, but the cast was great as far as the action. Acting was bad and I found myself cringing through most of it.
- DirectorSean PennStarsEmile HirschVince VaughnCatherine KeenerAfter graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gives his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life. It's a true story so the main problems I had with it just had to do with his character and the decisions he made and I can't complain about the writing. It was well shot and directed/acted and I did enjoy it for the most part, but it was slightly disappointing.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsMark WahlbergHelena Bonham CarterTim RothIn 2029, an Air Force astronaut crash-lands on a mysterious planet where evolved, talking apes dominate a race of primitive humans.I was hoping this would just be a revamp, but they completely changed the story and it wasn't a good change.
- DirectorGuy RitchieStarsRobert Downey Jr.Jude LawRachel McAdamsDetective Sherlock Holmes and his stalwart partner Watson engage in a battle of wits and brawn with a nemesis whose plot is a threat to all of England. This is one I think I would have enjoyed better if I had watched it by myself. I liked the characters, but it did seem to move slow as I kept hearing from my viewing partner.
- DirectorJoe CarnahanStarsLiam NeesonBradley CooperSharlto CopleyA group of Iraq War veterans look to clear their name with the U.S. Military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed.Way to over the top and I didn't care for Biel's character although she's always nice to look at.
- DirectorJay RoachStarsSteve CarellPaul RuddStephanie SzostakAfter he finds out that his work superiors host a dinner celebrating the idiocy of their special guests, a rising executive questions the merits of his invitation just as he befriends a man who would be the perfect guest.I thought it would concentrate more on the dinner and was thinking it would be a lot more funny.
- DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsRay WinstoneCrispin GloverAngelina JolieThe warrior Beowulf must fight and defeat the monster Grendel, who is terrorizing Denmark, then Grendel's Mother, who begins killing out of revenge.I loved the story of Beowulf when I read it in school and was really looking foward to this, but they changed so much it was distracting and it was slow moving as well.
- DirectorClint EastwoodStarsClint EastwoodGene HackmanMorgan FreemanRetired Old West gunslinger William Munny reluctantly takes on one last job, with the help of his old partner Ned Logan and a young man, The "Schofield Kid."Just not as great as everyone says. Clint Eastwood is generally overrated on this site, but for this one everyone overstepped their bounds.
- DirectorJames GrayStarsJoaquin PhoenixMark WahlbergEva MendesA New York City nightclub manager tries to save his brother and father from Russian Mafia hitmen.I expected a lot more with the cast it had.
- DirectorRobert RedfordStarsTom CruiseMeryl StreepRobert RedfordInjuries sustained by two Army rangers behind enemy lines in Afghanistan set off a sequence of events involving a congressman, a journalist and a professor.Didn't like the "message" it was trying to get across.
- DirectorMike NewellStarsJake GyllenhaalGemma ArtertonBen KingsleyA young fugitive prince and princess must stop a villain who unknowingly threatens to destroy the world with a special dagger that enables the magic sand inside to reverse time.It looked like a cool movie and Gylenhal is a great actor, but it was too "Disney". Had they made it a little darker and less over the top action I think I would have enjoyed it more. It seemed like it was trying to be another POTC, but didn't do it as well.
- DirectorClint EastwoodStarsClint EastwoodBee VangChristopher CarleyAfter a Hmong teenager tries to steal his prized 1972 Gran Torino, a disgruntled, prejudiced Korean War veteran seeks to redeem both the boy and himself.Very overrated film. The story is great, but the acting is terrible and it's very boring.
- DirectorM. Night ShyamalanStarsMark WahlbergZooey DeschanelJohn LeguizamoA science teacher, his wife, and a young girl struggle to survive a plague that causes those infected to commit suicide.Just watch the trailer it's the best thing about this movie. Wahlberg didn't fit as his character and he and Deschanel had no chemistry along with her character being very annoying.
- DirectorWerner HerzogStarsChristian BaleSteve ZahnJeremy DaviesA U.S. fighter pilot's epic struggle of survival after being shot down on a mission over Laos during the Vietnam War.Supposedly it's a true story so you can't really complain about that, but it was boring.
- DirectorRob MarshallStarsDaniel Day-LewisMarion CotillardPenélope CruzFamous film director Guido Contini struggles to find harmony in his professional and personal lives, as he engages in dramatic relationships with his wife, his mistress, his muse, his agent, and his mother.Only movie I EVER fast fowarded through. I thought it would be a good musical, but the story was just awful. I guess I should've watched the whole thing, but I won't put myself through that sort of suffering again willingly.
- DirectorRichard KellyStarsCameron DiazJames MarsdenFrank LangellaWith the press of a button, a wooden box bestows riches and death.Donnie Darko was great and Kelly should have quit while he was ahead. This is what happens when you take a short story and try to turn it into a feature film. Random stuff comes out of nowhere and you're left feeling like you just wasted precious time out of your day watching a poorly written piece of trash.
- DirectorJay RoachStarsBen StillerRobert De NiroBlythe DannerAll hell breaks loose when the Byrnes family meets the Focker family for the first time. This movie made me give up on any comedy sequels. I at least won't spend money on them any more unless it's my monthly Netflix subscription.
