It's about the world from a dog's eye, and tells the story of an innocent adolescent puppy and her complex, mostly loving relationships with her humans, the dogs next door, a couple of cats, and what happens when she escapes from her home through no fault of her own. It is also about doggie love and misunderstandings. Contains some of the most iconic moments in Disney history

- DirectorJames AlgarSamuel ArmstrongFord Beebe Jr.StarsLeopold StokowskiDeems TaylorThe Philadelphia OrchestraA series of eight famous pieces of classical music, conducted by Leopold Stokowski and interpreted in animation by Walt Disney's team of artists.Of all Disney's movies, this is possibly the most iconic of them all. It has spawned a live action version of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice", a CGI film called "Dinosaur", based on the dinosaur segment of this movie, and made such indelible marks on our imaginations as the winged balrog-like demon in "Night on Bald Mountain", the cute Chinese mushrooms and ice skating snow fairies of "Nutcracker Suite", and the exotic Classical rendition od Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony. The movie is filled with magnificent images that have been picked up and referenced by countless other films for children.
This is as good an introduction to classical program music as you can give a child. - DirectorJames AlgarSamuel ArmstrongDavid HandStarsHardie AlbrightStan AlexanderBobette AudreyThe story of a young deer growing up in the forest.Despite the unforgettable imagery of little Bambi and his playmates as a very young fawn, this is actually a hard and gritty nature film about the realities of life in the wild for forest animals. It is both beautiful and chilling, with some of the most beautiful photography of any animated film.
- DirectorWilliam CottrellDavid HandWilfred JacksonStarsAdriana CaselottiHarry StockwellLucille La VerneExiled into the dangerous forest by her wicked stepmother, a princess is rescued by seven dwarf miners who make her part of their household. As they say, she's still the fairest of them all. A young German princess, persued by an evil queen who wants to kill her, she hides in the Black Forest where she recieves shelter from a group of rustic Dwarves, and endears her way into their hearts. Still a hallmark of charm and enchantment with several very scary moments. One of the greatest achievements of all time in animated film making.
- DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsJim CarreyGary OldmanColin FirthAn animated retelling of Charles Dickens' classic novel about a Victorian-era miser taken on a journey of self-redemption, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas apparitions. Not strictly a traditional animated film, this is nevertheless a gorgeous Christmas card of a movie, perfect in its Victorian glory and perfectly balances the comedy with the creepiness. Jim Carrey is surprisingly good as Scrooge, and Gary Oldman is the perfect Bob Crachit. Not for young children because of the scary scenes, but nevertheless one of the best versions of Dickens' classic on film.

- DirectorJames AlgarClyde GeronimiJack KinneyStarsBing CrosbyBasil RathboneEric BloreAn animated adaptation of "The Wind in the Willows" followed by an adaptation of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow".While I very much enjoy the English charm of the "Wind and the Willows" adaptation, I am really speaking of what I consider the most faithful version of all of the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow". Bing Crosby narrates this Halloween story, which is both very funny and at tomes very creepy. A great short film, which our family watches every Halloween. You should, too.
