This is a French neo-noir heist movie. It is not a typical movie and might come off as slow to some people. It is recommended for people who enjoy style over constant plot development. It is definitely a movie with a plot, but it is the style of the movie and the performances from the actors that carry the film. There is not much dialogue in comparison to the film's running time. Melville is a master of constructing engaging scenes where dialogue is unnecessary.
