The Perfect Actors for the Mortal Kombat 2013 movie

by Mysticstrider | created - 24 Oct 2011 | updated - 15 Jan 2012 | Public

So recently I finished re-watching the two Live Action Mortal Kombat adaptions from the 90's, as well as Mortal Kombat: Conquest TV series, and Kevin Tancharoen's 9 episode web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy. And it got me thinking, who should the new cast and crew be? But lately I've heard that New Line Cinema, the sister studio to Warner Bros., has hired Kevin Tancharoen to direct the new movie in 2013 - which is going to be a reboot of the series. It is announced that the filming of the movie will start casting around March 2012. Anyway, I've been researching for quite some time looking up a lot of martial artist actors and actresses and made a Photoshop collage of the list who I think has the potential to play as the characters from the series. With that being said, I honestly think that I have found the "PERFECT" actors and actresses that really looks like and can act like them, which would be perfect for them to play as the characters in the MK series.

Note: I might include additional actors that will play the same role should any of them were to be chosen. Also, all of the Actors and Actresses I've included speaks English, multi-lingual, and for the most part a lot of them have Martial Arts experience. It is going to absolutely be a good opportunity for a lot of them to promote themselves in the film industry.

So anyway, if you guys can check out the Actors and Actresses on this list, I'd really appreciate it. I have done some major researching on this project and compared my matches to a lot of Mortal Kombat film fans, so hope to see what you guys think and make this happen :) And honestly, I think this reboot will be a good, "more realistic take on the characters." from the articles I've read recently, and I look forward to a really bloody Mortal Kombat "R" rated film.

Hope to get the director and Warner Bros. to see my list as well. I've been up all this week and not getting enough of sleep 'cause I've been researching about this a lot. I mean, I don't want this next film to be as bad as the first two. I grew up with Mortal Kombat as a kid and I'm 21 now. So I'm really a big fan of the series and like me and a lot of the fans, we hope to see some good actors and actresses in the series. So for all the time and effort of me for making all this is worth something, I hope they can consider all these actors and actresses to be closely accurate to the characters in the game.

So far I'm not sure what actor who would play as Shinnok or Sheeva, and possibly Kenshi(but he's not really part of the main story until later in the MK series) or any of the rest that could possibly be in Mr. Tancharoen's next MK film or web series.

Credits to Eric-Scissorhands for allowing me to use his actor list as a reference on this, and for updating info and some actors and actresses that I replaced. Link to his list: http://www.imdb.com/list/WyYK8Yr24r4/ And Credits to budomate for allowing me to use his site as a reference for his list of potential Martial Artists who can be in the next MK film: http://www.budomate.com/mortal-kombat-movie-2013/.

1. Shin Koyamada

Actor | The Last Samurai

Shin Koyamada is an American actor, producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and martial artist. As actor, Koyamada became best known to global audiences after his co-starring debut role in the Warner Bros blockbuster Tom Cruise film The Last Samurai (2003), with a worldwide box office of $456 ...

Liu Kang.

Shin Koyamada is my main choice for Liu Kang, because not only is he the right age for the start of a trilogy, but he's a talented actor that knows really good English, as well as a championship winning martial artist. He took up Karate while growing up and then Shaolin Kung Fu when him and his family moved to the states when he was 18, and he has a black belt in both. He is also currently learning Tae Kwon Do since 2005. He was in The Last Samurai with Ken Watanabe as Katsumoto's son, and on the Disney Channel Original Movie called Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior as a Chinese Shaolin Monk.

I've also looked up that he is the founder of the Shin Koyamada Foundation in the U.S., so I think he's really a respected martial artist. :-)

I believe he's the only choice for Liu Kang, other actors that people mentioned in their Fancast don't look like much Liu Kang. Even though he's Japanese, the first 2 actors who portrayed as Liu Kang in the first 2 Mortal Kombat games was a Korean actor, so I don't see anything wrong for a Japanese actor to play as a Chinese character. He's about the same height as Liu Kang in-game; he's 5'9 and Liu Kang is 5'10".

2. Mike Moh

Actor | Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood

Mike grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was inspired by one of his heroes, Jackie Chan, while working as a stuntman in Hong Kong on the film "Robin-B-Hood" to pursue a career in acting. Mike relocated to Los Angeles and landed roles in numerous commercials, TV shows, and films like "Street Fighter:...

Kung Lao.

He is renowned for playing Kamen Rider Axe with Matt Mullins(who played Johnny Cage) in Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight(2008). He also has various martial arts training, and for the most part I think he's a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do; not to mention he also is a teacher for his dojo. He can definitely play as Kung Lao, and he actually looks like Paolo Montalban from MK: Conquest who played as the Great Kung Lao. He's about the same height as Kung Lao in-game; he's 5'9 and Kung Lao is 5'10".

3. Rain

Actor | Ssa-i-bo-geu-ji-man-gwen-chan-a

Rain was born in Seoul, South Korea on June 25, 1982 as Jung Jihoon. He was extremely shy in elementary school; in interviews he's stated that he barely spoke. He caught the desire to become a dancer at a school talent show in sixth grade; when nobody from his school stepped forward to dance, he ...

Younger Sub-Zero/unmasked/Kuai Liang (奎良)

I think he'll do a good job playing as the younger brother of Sub-Zero, who's name is Kuai Liang (奎良). He'll do a good job as Sub-Zero since he played as a Ninja in the movie "Ninja Assassin", plus he has a pretty good experience in Martial Arts, I believe. His English is pretty good, with his cool Asian accent, so it will be interesting to see him play as an unmasked sub-zero, seeing his face as Sub-Zero with the red scar on his face would be awesome. Also, Sub-Zero is part of the Lin Kuei clan, so the actor should be Asian and Rain would be perfect for him! Plus Rain looks a lot more like the good version of Sub-Zero because he doesn't look too evil, except when he gets serious in Ninja Assassin where he was raised in a ninja clan, then escaped to get revenge on the his clan lord's master and kills everyone. So he will make an excellent Young Sub-Zero 'cause he'll be looking to avenge his brother's death, then eventually join forces with the good forces of the Earthrealm against Shao Kahn. Please everyone, if Rain were to play a role in the Mortal Kombat Movie, it would definitely have to be the Young Sub-Zero! After all, like I said he played as a Ninja in Ninja Assassin and trains hard to revenge against his own ninja clan and master.

He also does meet about the same height as Sub-Zero, Rain is 6'0" and Sub-Zero is 6'2", so that's fair.

4. Lee Byung-hun

Actor | Dalkomhan insaeng

Lee Byung-hun was born in 1970 in Seoul, South Korea, and grew up in a wealthy family, thanks to his father, who was a successful businessman. He never dreamed of pursuing acting until a friend of his mother's suggested it. He auditioned for the KBS television network in 1991 and was accepted. His ...

Younger Sub-Zero/unmasked/Kuai Liang (奎良)

I believe his role as Sub-Zero would be good for him. I mean he played as the ninja as the adult Storm Shadow in GI Joe:Rise Of The Cobra and IMO, he was one of the few good things in that movie and his fight scenes as a ninja were fun to watch! His training as a ninja in that movie and also as having a small experience in martial arts, he should be good enough to play Sub-Zero.

His ability in speaking English is really good as well. Look at his interview video here on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=envlCc3hkaY

He'll be a really good ninja, so if anything it'll be Sub-Zero

5. Kevan Ohtsji

Actor | The Man in the High Castle

Born and raised in a suburb of Vancouver, Kevan discovered his love for performing from an eighth grade drama class. Known for his diversity, his talent emerged as an adolescent. " I suppose I'm the ham in my family. I figured someone had to be," jokes a jubilant Ohtsji.

Idolizing film greats such ...

Older Sub-Zero/Bi-Han (璧漢)/Noob Saibot

He portrayed as the original Sub-Zero, Bi-Han (璧漢), who is the older brother of the younger Sub-Zero, Kuai Liang (奎良), in Kevin Tancharoen's web series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy. He's the sub-zero that literally killed and put the whole Shirai Ryu clan to their demise by the Lin Kuei clan, which was led by Quan Chi who disguised himself as Bi-Han/Sub-Zero. So this actor should be the same, I don't see any flaws in this actor, plus he does a really good job in the fight scenes playing as Sub-Zero, and then as Noob Saibot eventually which he'll make a really evil, sinister, looking character! It'll be interesting to see him fight!

His ability in English is fluent, and his Japanese is fluent as well since him and his family moved when he was a teenager. Even though Lin Kuei is a Chinese warrior clan, the Japanese did come from the Chinese (As so I read in a book about the history of Japan) making their languages similar, plus a lot of the Kanji(Japanese Chinese characters) are almost the same. Therefore, it shouldn't be hard to really learn for the Lin Kuei clan in such little time. Also The Shirai Ryu was formed many years ago by a Lin Kuei warrior named Takeda. He eventually grew tired of the Lin Kuei and left the clan. This is a true story! I've done my research for both clans.

So this actor should still be the same for the next upcoming MK film. I'm not sure about the height of this actor, can't find anywhere about it on the internet, but his height is tall enough for Sub-Zero/Noob Saibot who's 6'2".

6. Ian Anthony Dale

Actor | The Walking Dead

Ian Anthony Dale was born on July 3, 1978 in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA. He is an actor and director, known for The Walking Dead (2010), The Resident (2018) and Hawaii Five-0 (2010). He has been married to Nicole Garippo since October 8, 2016. They have two children.

Scorpion.

I would still like to see the same actor, Ian Anthony Dale, to play as Scorpion. When I saw the episode of Scorpion and Sub-zero, it amazes me that Anthoony Dale has a lot of experience in fighting since I believe he took martial arts while growing up.

So he's a pretty solid actor overall and would do fine as the current Scorpion, look forward to seeing him cast in the next Mortal Kombat movie as the same Scorpion.

7. Larry Lam

Stunts | Reindeer Games

Larry Lam was born on November 8, 1969 in Hong Kong. He is an actor, known for Reindeer Games (2000), I, Robot (2004) and Bang Bang (2014). He is married to Leslie Lam. They have one child.

Rain.

I chose him for this role, because he is just one swift, strong, amazing Martial Artist. I’ve seen him in the movies Blade: Trinity, Elektra, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live series in the late 90s as both Leonardo and Michaelangelo! He actually is an experience Martial Artist that can do so much in his career. If I see him play as a ninja in Mortal Kombat, then it would definitely have to be Rain.. no doubt! I even forgot about this guy until I’ve seen him mentioned budomate's website as a reference. Thanks to him for endorsing him as Rain. Check out his Fight Reel video here on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gB_VdUSzapg

8. Kane Kosugi

Actor | Tekken: A Man Called X

Born in California, he is half Japanese and half Chinese. He began his training in martial arts at the age of one and a half. Since moving to Japan at the age of 18, he has done numerous movies and TV shows becoming one of the nation's most popular and recognizable talents. He has worked with some ...

Ermac.

He played as Ryu Hayabausa in the Dead or Alive movie, and has been in a lot of action films as a stuntman. He is the son of the Martial Artist, Sho Kosugi, and he's been trained in many Martial Arts growing up in: Wushu, Ninjutsu, Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Judo, and Kendo. I didn't find out until now looking from budomate's list, and I've also noticed that he was in Ninja Warrior known as Sasuke back in the day. He's just one talented actor, he needs to be big in hollywood, so seeing him as an actor in the next Mortal Kombat Film would be awesome. Also, he's fluent in English and Japanese if you've seen his video on youtube since he grewed up in the states. Here's a video clip of his fight scene on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKLRXmvARJM

9. Gary Daniels

Actor | The Expendables

Gary Edward Daniels (born 9 May 1963) is an English actor, a martial arts artist, a martial arts action film star, a producer, and a fight coordinator. . Daniels who was also interested in films, starred in two motion pictures in 1988 made in the Philippines. These were Teddy Page's action martial ...

I just have to make new update that the Smoke that played in the series because it wouldn't make sense for an asian to play Smoke, since he is actually white/Caucasian and was smuggled into China to be hired as one of the highest ranked Lin Kuei assassin. I've looked this up myself which is true, and his name is Tomas Vrbada from Prague, Czech Republic. I think Gary Daniels would be excellent, he has martial arts Experience in Kung-Fu and professional Kickboxing which he won the Lightheavyweight Kickboxing Championship of the World. Although he's English, people from Czech Republic and a lot of people in the European continent almost look the same. Plus he's starred in a lot of great Martial Arts films throughout the decade and the last decade in a lot of films with Jackie Chan.

10. Scott Adkins

Actor | John Wick: Chapter 4

Scott Edward Adkins was born on June 17, 1976 in Sutton Coldfield, England, into a family that for generations were butchers. Along with his elder brother Craig, he was raised by their parents, John and Janet (Sanders) Adkins, in a loving middle-class family. Scott attended Bishop Vesey's Grammar ...

Smoke or Baraka and Scorpion Stunt double

I realized that Scott Adkins would be the perfect actor for Smoke! I mean the Lin Kuei hired him who was from Prague, Czech Republic, and thet's almost like him having a Russian accent speaking like Boyka from Undisputed 2 and 3!

In addition, I would like to add that he would be a good actor to do some Scorpion stunt doubles. We know that Scorpion does a summersault kick in the new MK9 game and also used a sword and semi-flail like what Scott Adkins used in the movie: "Ninja" which story sucked but action was good.

Anyway, Here's a pic of Scott Adkins and Baraka from a MK community pic: http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee106/way2slik/Baraka.png He would make a good actor to play as Baraka!

I also just recently want to update that by typing "Scott Adkins Mortal Kombat" he would do a really good job playing as Scorpion as well for a stunt double, I mean he made a really good Ninja in the movie "Ninja" in 2009.

On top of that, but for some reason the reason why I'm choosing him for baraka for an alternative role is because I think Scott Adkins has the flexibility and physique to play as him. I'm not trying to be prejedice or anything, but the two actors that played Baraka: Lateef Crowder in the MK trailer last year, and the new actor this year's MK web series, didn't look so realistic and they didn't match Baraka, and just weren't really good actors for the most part.

11. Ray Park

Actor | Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Ray Park was born in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. He moved with his parents, younger brother and sister to London, UK, at the age of seven. Ray always wanted to be in the movies, and be like their heroes. He also began to nurture a love for martial arts from the age of seven, when his father's fondness ...

"Reptile or Baraka.

Another great fighter. Would make a fine addition to this dream cast.

The main reason i chose him would be for his performance as Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace And more so for his performance as Toad in X-Men... I thought he was very reptilian in those. " - Eric-Scissorhands

^^I agree, same what Eric-Scissorhands said from his list. But I also think he would make a good actor to play as Baraka.

Hold on, I just realized that he played as the Stunt Double for Baraka in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation! Wow, I did not know that! Yeah It's either Baraka or Reptile.

But I honestly think that he needs to play as Reptile. I've seen him played as Darth Maul and doing that aerial flip move as Darth Maul, and seeing that he played Toad in the 1st X-men movie, he would make an excellent ninja as Reptile, seeing that he has experience in it.

12. Thomas Jane

Actor | Boogie Nights

Thomas Jane is an American actor who is known for portraying Frank Castle from the 2004 Marvel Comics film The Punisher and the 2012 fan film Dirty Laundry. He also was in Boogie Nights, The Thin Red Line, Deep Blue Sea, The Predator, 1922, The Mist and Evening Raga of the West.

Raiden.

If anything, I would choose Thomas Jane as Raiden. The reason why I chose him is because he looks a lot like Chris Lambert and also looks like him when he played as Raiden.

I think he would make a great actor for Raiden. Plus He was in the movie "The Punisher" and would be a great choice. Although I don't like the fact that Raiden in the films was Caucasian, it doesn't seem as realistic to see what he should have been as an Asian actor.

13. Mark Dacascos

Actor | Le pacte des loups

Mark Dacascos is an actor, director, martial artist, and television personality. Whether seen on the big screen or small, playing the good guy or the bad, Mark has been making audience stand up and take notice for many years.

This May, Mark will be seen in highly anticipated film John Wick: Chapter ...

Raiden.

Actually, come to think of it he's my number one pick for Raiden. Raiden is supposed to be portrayed as an Asian actor, and I think Mark Dacascos will be perfect to play as Raiden! He really has the potential because I just realized that he's a Martial artist and I remember seeing him on so many martial arts movie growing up. So I'm really thrilled to see him play as Raiden! He's such a great actor, and with his voice, he is the perfect role for Raiden... I really think he does. He has that great ability in him as a mentor/instructor and for the most part he's proficient in Wun Hop Kuen Do, Capoeira, Wushu and Muay Thai! So he was raised in a martial arts background, and his father, Al Dacascos, is a martial arts instructor and founder of the Wun Hop Kuen Do art form!

14. Ken Watanabe

Actor | The Last Samurai

Ken Watanabe was born on October 21, 1959 in Uonuma, Japan. Both of his parents were teachers: his mother taught general education and his dad taught calligraphy. He became interested in acting at the age of 24, when a director of England's National Theater Company, where he was studying, told him ...

Raiden.

Raiden's character is supposed to be Asian to begin with. Watanabe has that sagely mentor air about him, but he can also be completely badass when the mood calls for it. His English is really good, I mean if you've seen his movies in The Last Samurai, Inception, etc. he speaks really good English.

Raiden's name is written as 雷電 in both Traditional Chinese and Japanese, and 雷电 in Simplified Chinese. It's pronounced as "raiden" (phonetically) in Japanese and "léidiàn" (Pinyin) in Mandarin Chinese. This is simply the Chinese word for "thunder and lightning" that was borrowed in Japanese together with the Chinese characters. The first character (雷) in this word means "thunder", the second one (電/电) now mostly means "electricity" (in ancient times it meant "lightning").

Go check out google translate for "雷電" and click on the Japanese voice for it and Raiden sounds better in Japanese than the Chinese(Mandarin) voice. His height is 6"0, so he should be tall enough because Raiden is 6'7, but the height isn't that much of an issue.

15. Katheryn Winnick

Actress | Vikings

Award-winning actress, director, producer, Katheryn Winnick, is best known for starring and directing the critically acclaimed, Emmy award-winning television series "Vikings." Winnick made her directorial debut in sixth and final season which earned her "Best Director" at the 2020 WIN Awards. She ...

Sonya Blade.

"Shes beautiful AND has the martial arts background. Shes perfect for Sonya Blade. And i have no doubt in my mind that she could easily fill in the bra- *ahem ...boots of Sonya Blade. ” - Eric-Scissorhands

^^I agree. I would also like to add is what makes her a stunning actress is that she also looks like a mix between Scarlett Johansson and Charlize Theron. On top of that, I want to add that she is currently a 3rd-Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 2nd-Degree Back Belt in Karate. With this martial arts experience, she's like the perfect role for Sonya Blade. Only downside is that she's 5'6, and Sonya is 5'9". But her height isn't much of a difference, she can still kick butt. Anyway, I think she's the only choice for Sonya Blade - she's born for the role!

16. Ali Larter

Actress | Final Destination

Born in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Ali began modeling at age thirteen, and traveled the world before moving to Los Angeles to study acting. Her first professional acting job was a role on the television series Chicago Sons (1997). She received her breakthrough in the high school football drama ...

Sonya Blade.

I think Ali Larter would definitely make a good, alternative, Sonya Blade. She just has some kind of resemblance with Bridgett Wilson (the girl who played as Sonya in the first MK movie).

She played as Claire Redfield in Resident Evil: Extinction and Afterlife. However, the only problem right now is that her last movie, her hair was more of a red color, and I'm not sure if she still has that hair color, but hopefully she can get her blonde-colored hair back again so that she can look like Bridgette Wilson. Btw, her height is 5'8", so she's nearly the same height as Sonya in game that's 5'10".

17. Matt Mullins

Stunts | Divergent

From his humble beginnings of watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Matt Mullins has risen to become world renown in martial arts, and as a star in the CW4Kids show "Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight".

With 5 martial art world titles in hand, Matt moved from Naperville, IL to Hollywood and quickly began ...

Johnny Cage.

Still the same actor as the Johnny Cage in Kevin Tancharoen's short film Mortal Kombat: Rebirth and web-film series Mortal Kombat: Legacy. He was in Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight as Kamen Rider Wing Knight. What makes him a good Johnny Cage character is his personality and can pull a lot of good humor. But I think he's the olny one who can play a really good Johnny Cage, he has the personality, the sense of humor, and martial arts experience. However, some people say that Ryan Reynolds and Chris Evans are saying that one of them should be Johnny Cage, but I don't think they possess the personality like Mullins.

Can you imagine seeing him trying to pull some jokes at Katheryn Winnick as Sonya Blade? That will be interesting to see them go at each other, hahaha.

I just think he's a great actor because he has the martial arts experience, he is currently a 4th degree Black Belt in Shōrei-ryū Karate and is a leader for a dojo that he teaches in.

18. Michael Jai White

Actor | Black Dynamite

Michael Jai White is an American actor and martial artist who has appeared in numerous films and television series. He is the first African American to portray a major comic book superhero in a major motion picture, having starred as Al Simmons, the protagonist in the 1997 film Spawn. White ...

Jax.

He is currently the same Jax in Kevin's Tancharoen’s Mortal Kombat: Rebirth and Legacy. I think despite his age, now that he's getting old since he's in his 40's, he is still is an amazing actor to play as Major Jax Briggs. What makes him even better is that he has a lot of experience as an actor, but he also has a substantial amount of experience in Martial arts. He holds several black belts currently in: Shotokan Karate, Goju Ryu Karate, Kyokushin Karate, Okinawan Kobudo, Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do, and Wushu. If you've seen him in Undisputed II and Blood and Bone, his remarkable fight scenes makes him a really intimidating martial artist and fighter!

19. Jason Momoa

Actor | Aquaman

Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa was born on August 1, 1979, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is the son of Coni (Lemke), a photographer, and Joseph Momoa, a painter. His father is of Native Hawaiian and Samoan descent; and his mother, who is from Iowa, is of German, Irish, and Native American ancestry. Jason ...

Nightwolf.

He just looks a lot like the Nightwolf in the game! Dress him like a Native American and BOOM, there you go! Btw, his father is Native Hawaiin, that's why I think he sort of fits the ethnic profile. He's a really great actor, if you've seen him in Conan the Barbarian, he is one strong character who kicked a lot of butt.

Here's a pic of him in Conan the Barbarian and compare him to Nightwolf in this pic: http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q320/pokadotbo/nightwolf.jpg He really looks like Nightwolf! Also, his height is 6'4" which makes him about the same height as Nightwolf in the game who's height is 6'3".

20. Darren Shahlavi

Actor | I Spy

Darren Shahlavi was seven years old when he started training in martial arts in an old drama theatre in Manchester, England. Inspired by Bruce Lees films and other action movies such as Star Wars, he dreamed of being a movie actor and would show up to his Judo class at the drama hall early to watch...

Kano.

My primary pick for Kano. He was the Kano that was in Kevin Tancharoen's short web series: Mortal Kombat: Legacy, and he made a really excellent Kano! If anything, i would definitely love to see him play as Kano again in the next movies, or perhaps the next second season if they plan to air a second season. Also, his new look makes him a complete badass, this Kano isn't certainly a type of guy you want to mess with! :-P

21. Jason Statham

Actor | Crank

Jason Statham was born in Shirebrook, Derbyshire, to Eileen (Yates), a dancer, and Barry Statham, a street merchant and lounge singer. He was a Diver on the British National Diving Team and finished twelfth in the World Championships in 1992. He has also been a fashion model, black market salesman ...

Kano.

"Although Jason Statham is English and the character is supposed to be Australian you cant deny the man not only resembles the character, but he has the martial arts knowledge and the bad ass attitude to pull it off with flying colors. " - Eric-Scissorhands

^^What he said. I would also like to add that he's a really great actor and resembles a lot like the original Kano in MK1, 2, and 3! Even though I believe that Jason Statham only has played all his roles as a good guy, I think he can pull off in playing as a bad guy as Kano. I know he's English, but I think he can somewhat pull an Australian accent like Goddard, who is also from U.K., but he just had the ability to make his accent Australian. So I think Jason Statham's thick English accent can pull it off, if he knows how to play a bad guy that is.

Here's a fan-made picture that I've found in a mortal kombat forum: http://www.mortalkombatonline.com/content/fansub/Images/4593.jpg

Come to think of it, his accent can make him the PERFECT Kano! Look at his interview here on youtube from beginning-2:00: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNM50bL13wE

22. Tahmoh Penikett

Actor | Battlestar Galactica

He is the son of former Yukon premier Anthony David John Penikett (Tony). A graduate of the Victoria Motion picture school, Tahmoh also studied at the Lyric School of Acting in Vancouver. Tahmoh and his family (his father, and his twin sisters Sarah and Stephanie) make their home in Vancouver, ...

Stryker.

He played as Lt. Stryker in Kevin Tancharoen's Mortal Kombat: Legacy, and he actually played a really good Stryker IMHO. I just realized that he has the personality and good intellect about him as a cop seeing that he also played a former FBI and a good Lieutenant then Captain ranked officer in Battlestar Galactica. And on top of that, he has experience and trains Muay Thai. I think in my opinion, he's an awesome Stryker. Definitely would love to see this guy play Stryker again!

23. Channing Tatum

Actor | 21 Jump Street

Channing Tatum was born in a small town, Cullman, Alabama, 50 miles north of Birmingham. He is the son of Kay (Faust), an airline worker, and Glenn Matthew Tatum, who worked in construction. Growing up, he was full of energy and somewhat troublesome, so his parents decided to enroll him in ...

Kabal.

I think he'll make a good Kabal. He's in the upcoming crime thriller movie released next month(Nov. 2011) as a police officer called "The Son of No One". In addition to that, he plays as Captain Duke in the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and the upcoming G.I. Joe movie next year.

He should be pretty good seeing he's been in a lot of recent crime-action films. He'll make a good Kabal at first, since he was formerly a cop along with Styker in the new Mortal Kombat game(2011).

24. Johnson Phan

Actor | Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Johnson Phan was born in a refugee camp located in Malaysia (KL) August 6th 1980. His parents and older brother had successfully escaped from communism in Vietnam. Soon after Johnson's birth the Canadian government helped the Phan family safely transition to Canada, and they would eventually settle...

Young Shang Tsung.

He was playing as the the younger Shang Tsung in Kevin Tancharoen's web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

I think he's a pretty decent character, but I'm not so sure.. the Shang Tsung in the original movie and in Mortal Kombat: Conquest was a bit older, and this Shang Tsung would be fair enough to play as the young Shang Tsung with black hair. It would be a little better if he grew out his hair a little and have the physique body for it when he shows his guns.

25. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa

Actor | Mortal Kombat

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa got his first big break as an actor when he was cast in Bernardo Bertolucci's The Last Emperor (1987). A US Army brat, he was born in Tokyo and lived in various cities while growing up. His father was in the army, stationed at Ft. Bragg (NC), Ft. Polk (LA) and Ft. Hood (TX). His...

Old Shang Tsung.

I'm not much of a huge fan of the young Shang Tsung, but the older version has will always be the "true" version of the character. And to see him morph after the badass intro into the Old Shang is truly awesome!

I think the Shang Tsung from the first MK movie with Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa can play as Shang Tsung again, but the older form! I mean, Shang Tsung is over 500 years old anyway, so Hiroyuki Tagawa would probably do a decent job playing as Shang Tsung again, but as Shang Tsung's old form.

Everyone who watched the first MK movie, loves his his line: "Your soul is mine!"

26. Hiroyuki Sanada

Actor | Tasogare Seibei

Hiroyuki Sanada was born on October 12, 1960 in Tokyo. He made his film debut when he was 5 in Rokyoku komori-uta (1965) (Shin'ichi Chiba played the lead role.) His father died when he was 11. He joined Japan Action Club, organized & run by Sonny Chiba, when he was 12. He 1st became famous as an ...

Shang Tsung.

"He was a student to one Sonny *beep* Chiba. That makes him a bad ass by default. Anyone trained by the Streetfighter has got be a bad ass mother fooker. " - Eric-Scissorhands

^^What he said. But he was also the main Japanese antagonist in Jackie Chan's "Rush Hour 3" and as one of Katsumoto's right hand in Samurai in "The Last Samurai". His martial arts is really good, and he speaks really good English just like Ken Watanabe and Shin Koyamada.

27. Vin Diesel

Actor | Guardians of the Galaxy

Vin Diesel was born Mark Sinclair in Alameda County, California, along with his fraternal twin brother, Paul Vincent. He was raised by his astrologer/psychologist mother, Delora Sherleen (Sinclair), and adoptive father, Irving H. Vincent, an acting instructor and theatre manager, in an artists' ...

Shao Kahn.

I think Vin Diesel would be a pretty good actor to play as Shao Kahn. I'm not sure if his personality and voice would fit because I've never heard or seen Vin Diesel really played a bad character yet. But if he were to, he might be able to do a good job acting as Shao Kahn and hopefully play a good job as an evil character. You know that he played as Riddick in Pitch Black and on The Chronicles of Riddick. You can see by the role he played as Riddick, even though he's a good guy in the series, his glowing eyes in the movie can give him that sinister look as Shao Kahn Like in this picture: http://images.mylot.com/userImages/images/postphotos/1711224.jpg

I think he can make a really evil character just by the look of his eyes! Shao Kahn had glowing eyes too! Wow!

28. Aleks Paunovic

Actor | This Means War

Aleks Paunovic was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to a Croatian mother and Serbian father. The result of this remarkable blend of bloodlines is the 6'5" ruggedly handsome actor appearing on screens around the world at a rapidly escalating rate.

Acting came to Aleks while he was onstage in his hometown ...

Emperor Shao Kahn.

My primary pick for Shao Kahn! Same actor from the Mortal Kombat: Legacy series. I think he would really make one intimidating Shao Kahn, I mean if you see him yell and do all those taunts, evil laughter, etc. then without a doubt he's the perfect Shao Kahn. He even has the height for it and he's 6'5"(6 feet, 5 inches) believe it or not. Not to mention he has training in Boxing and some various martial arts. I would definitely love to see this actor in the next Mortal Kombat movie or series as Shao Kahn!

29. Natassia Malthe

Actress | Elektra

Linn Natassia Malthe is a Norwegian model and actress.

Natassia is the middle of two sisters with an older brother she recently discovered she had. She was born in Oslo, Norway, and is of half Norwegian/Chinese descent. Her mother is from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. She is usually credited by her birth ...

Queen Sindel.

My primary pick for Sindel! Wow, I never realized about this actress until I've finally rewatched Elektra and some of her recent movies from last year like In the Name of the King: Two Worlds. It even proves to me that with her acting skills like that in those movies, and especially the vampire type movies she appeared in where she plays like a witch or vampire-type woman, she would be the perfect Sindel!

30. Jeri Ryan

Actress | Star Trek: Voyager

Jeri Ryan was born Jeri Lynn Zimmerman on February 22, 1968 in Munich, West Germany, to Gerhard Florian Zimmerman, a Master Sergeant in the United States Army, and his wife Sharon, a social worker. She and her older brother Mark grew up on several military bases, including Kansas, Maryland, Hawaii,...

Queen Sindel.

I think a lot of people didn't really like the fact that Jerri Ryan was playing as Sonya Blade. Instead for playing as Sonya Blade, I think that she would be a much better replacement for Sindel. Honestly, I say her role as Queen Sindel(Mother of Kitana) would be a great replacement. She kinda does look like the Sindel in MK: Annihilation(MK2). Don't get me wrong, she's a good actress, I just don't think she seems to fit Sonya's role and personality. I mean she's almost in her mid-40s already, but I don't see a problem with her, I just don't think that it's too real to see her doing Sonya's moves like the cartwheel and handstand/leg drop, etc. that'll look a little strange, don't you all agree? But seeing that Jeri Ryan was Seven of nine and her age would be perfect for Sindel, 'cause she's the mother of Kitana and would look older, plus with the type of role she played in Star Trek: Voyager, she would look a lot like Musetta Vander’s Sindel, she would be a great actress for Sindel!

31. Angelina Jolie

Actress | Maleficent

Angelina Jolie is an Academy Award-winning actress who rose to fame after her role in Girl, Interrupted (1999), playing the title role in the "Lara Croft" blockbuster movies, as well as Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), Wanted (2008), Salt (2010) and Maleficent (2014). Off-screen, Jolie has become ...

Queen Sindel.

If there was another choice in choosing another actress for Sindel, I think Angelina Jolie as Sindel would also be a perfect Queen Sindel... I mean in the new Mortal Kombat game(2011), Angelina Jolie looks a lot like Sindel. Only problem though is that I'm not sure if her voice and personality would be good enough to play as her, but I really think she can though, she was in Alexander the Great as Alexander's mother. So it would be really interesting to see her play as Sindel, the mother of Kitana. Check her out in this picture: http://www-deadline-com.vimg.net/wp-content/uploads/thumbnails/1146172011-03-22-14-16-28.jpg She would be a good actress to play as Queen Sindel. - Mysticstrider

32. Nathan Jones

Actor | Mad Max: Fury Road

Nathan Jones's saga is a tapestry of raw power and entertainment, woven from the rugged landscapes of Australia to the glitz of global arenas. A towering figure at 6' 11", he carved his niche as a colossus in strength athletics, power-lifting his way to stardom in the mid-90s. His moniker "Megaman"...

Goro.

It's kind of hard to find a chraracter for Goro. But this guy actually hasthe height, well maybe not quite at 7 feet, and goro is 8'2", but he's 6' 11" and 360 lbs, and like I said he'll make a scary Goro. I mean, he's intimidating after all, if anyone would go after this guy, it would be tough to take him out seeing him with his four arms. You could just make him look huge, but I wanted it to be realistic... and Nathan Jones would be a great actor! Also, he was a great actor in the recent movie with Jason Momoa, "Conan the Barbarian". He was also that big, intimidating guy in Tony Jaa's "The Protector" and it was almost impossible for him to beat that guy, it's like he was on steroids! And he played Boagrius in Troy.

33. Dalip Singh

Actor | Get Smart

Dalip Singh was born on August 27, 1972 in Dhirana, Himachal Pradesh, India. He is an actor, known for Get Smart (2008), The Longest Yard (2005) and MacGruber (2010). He has been married to Harminder Kaur since February 27, 2002. They have one child.

"Goro or Motaro.

For obvious reasons hes perfect. Just throw on some make up and CGI and we have our new Goro. " - Eric-Scissorhands

^^ Like what he said, he would certainly be a good actor to play as Goro, if not then he would also make a good race to play as Motoro. I've seen him in "The Longest Yard" by Adam Sandler, and he was intimidating as well. His English is good, and with his intimidating voice, he would be great as either Goro or Motaro.

His height is tall enough to play as Goro, even though Goro is 8 feet tall, and Motoro is about 8 feet tall as well and taller than Goro.

34. Dwayne Johnson

Actor | Black Adam

Dwayne Douglas Johnson, also known as The Rock, was born on May 2, 1972 in Hayward, California. He is the son of Ata Johnson (born Feagaimaleata Fitisemanu) and professional wrestler Rocky Johnson (born Wayde Douglas Bowles). His father, from Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada, is black (of Black Nova ...

Motaro.

There's no other choice for Motoro, if someone were to play Motoro, it would be Dwayne Johnson. If you've seen him in the Mummy movie as the Scorpion King, or the Scorpion King with him, I thikn he would be a relly good Motaro... really intimidating! I remember seeing him in The Mummy Returns, I was so scared seeing him as the Scorpion King! So I think seeing him as Motaro is even more scarier! o_o

35. Andy On

Actor | Blackhat

Andy On was born on May 11, 1977, in Los Angeles, California. A non-martial artist, Andy had always loved Jackie Chan movies and emulated his moves from flips and kicks at his home. In early 2000, while working as a bartender in Rhode Island, someone suggested he should become an actor. Andy, who ...

Quan Chi.

"Cmon, The man practically played the character already in "True Legend." Bring him onboard, and dose him in all that make-up once again for the MK reboot. "- Eric-Scissorhands

^^What he said, if they can get him to play as Quan Chi, that would be awesome. I mean, I believe that Quan Chi is Asian, and after seeing in the movie "True LEgend" he would be an excellent Quan Chi.

Also, his ability in English is fluent. I've only seen him speaking Chinese and English in his interviews, and it's really good.

Only downside for him is that he's 5"11, Quan Chi is 6'7", but it's hard to find a really tall Quan Chi anyway. But Andy On does really resemble an intimidating Quan Chi!

36. Michael J Rogers

Actor | Beyond the Black Rainbow

Michael is an award-winning Canadian actor with over 90 credits under his belt. He is well known for his portrayal of deeply layered mad man, Barry Nyle, in the critically acclaimed cult favorite, BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW. Beyond the Black Rainbow screened at the TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL, and ...

Quan Chi.

He is the current Quan Chi in KTanch's Web series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy. I think he does an okay job as Quan Chi, but for all the more hardcore stuff like where he does some voodoo spells and snake powers, also with his non-martial arts experience, he wouldn't be as good compared to Andy On. But if they were to choose Quan Chi again, I guess it would be this actor.

37. Peter Shinkoda

Actor | The Predator

Peter Shinkoda is most well known for his portrayals of Dai in Steven Spielberg's Falling Skies and Nobu in Marvel's Daredevil on Disney+. In addition to his acting career Shinkoda also worked at the Warner Bros. Studios facility in Burbank as an employee of the lot's Post-Production department in ...

Sektor.

He was in Kevin Tancharoen's web series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy. Kudos to this actor and Kevin Tancharoen for allowing him to play as Sektor. And I really agree that he should be the same sektor in the next film or web series. Sektor in the game is part of the Lin Kuei, plus the Human Sektor in the new Mortal Kombat game looks a lot more Asian, so this should be accurate. I look forward to seeing this actor to play as Sektor again in a future MK film or web series.

38. Shane Warren Jones

Actor | All My Children

Shane Warren Jones was born in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. After Graduating from Baylor University in 2005 he moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in Acting. Since then he's worked as an actor on Spike Tv's "Deadliest Warrior", "All My Children", J.J Abram's "Fringe" as well as ...

Cyrax.

He is the current Cyrax in KTanch's Web series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy. I think this guy does a really good job as an actor in playing as Cyrax. I've also seen this guy in a lot of Mike Moh's films, and I've also seen him with Mike Moh and Matt Mullins in some short fighting fight scene web film.

39. Celina Jade

Actress | The Man with the Iron Fists

Celina Horan, professionally known as Celina Jade, is a Chinese American actress, model, singer/songwriter and martial artist most known for her work as "Shado" in the CW series Arrow. Jade's acting career started in Hong Kong in 2007. She was cast as the leading lady in her first film, Legendary ...

Kitana.

"Originally i wanted Julia as Kitana, but After rewatching Legendary Assassin, ive reconsidered and think Celina would be a better fit, because unlike Ms. Voth, Celina actually has Martial Arts background as well as being extremely beautiful. " - Eric-Scissorhands

^^I agree on what he said. If they can get a new actress for Kitana in the next web series or film, I hope Ktanch would consider Celina Jade as a potential actress to play as Kitana or Jade. She is a really popular actress in a lot of Asian Films in China, and I've seen her in the Legendary Assassin Film where she does some really excellent job in kicking butt. She can speak both Chinese and English fluently, and she's the daughter of an American Kung Fu star, Roy Horan.

If anything, I really think that should make her as Kitana in the next web series or film. The current Kitana is portrayed is still way too young and is still new in the film industry for acting.

Only downside for this actress is that she's a little short to play as Kitana, Celina is 5'6 and Kitana is 5'9". But I think it's not much of a difference, so I hope she gets chosen as a role as Kitana, or if to be honest any of the girl characters in the series.

40. Samantha Win

Stunts | Army of the Dead

Samantha Win Tjhia (formerly Samantha Jo) was born in Barrie, Ontario, Canada to a Chinese father and Caucasian/Canadian mother, Charles and Leslie. She has two older brothers who reside in Toronto with the rest of her family. Samantha started acted at the age of 10, appearing in several toy ...

Kitana.

She is currently the actress for Kitana on Kevin Tancharoen's web series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy. If they were to choose a Kitana again, I suppose she would do a good job as Kitana, so Kitana wouldn't be much of a big role in the series, so I think either this actress or Celina Jade. I believe Samantha Jo has martial arts experience as well, so she would be a good Kitana. If she's going to be the same Kitana when Kevin Tancharoen makes a 2nd season web series or in the next MK film in 2013, she'll be alright.

41. Maggie Q

Actress | Divergent

Margaret Denise Quigley was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to a father of Polish and Irish descent (originally based in New York) and a Vietnamese mother. Her parents met during the Vietnam War. Maggie has two older half-siblings from her mother's previous marriage, and two older sisters. The family ...

Jade.

She would actually make a really good actress to play as Jade. She played as "Priestess" in the Priest film(2011). And I didn't realize this, but took me a while just to find out who would actually make a good Jade character, up until I re-watched the movie Priest movie this year. Anyway, with the amazing fighting scenes she had in Priest, she definitely makes the best actress as Jade.

42. Grace Park

Actress | Battlestar Galactica

Grace Park (born March 14, 1974) is an American-Canadian actress. She gained recognition as Lt. Sharon 'Boomer' Valerii and Lt. Sharon 'Athena' Agathon on Battlestar Galactica (2004), as well as Shannon Ng in the Canadian television series teen soap Edgemont (2000). From 2010 to 2017, Park starred ...

Jade.

I think this actress would definitely make a good alternative to Jade. She has a lot of good fighting experience from Hawaii Five-0, and also I've seen her in Battlestar Galactica kicking arse!

43. Zara Phythian

Actress | Tribal Get Out Alive

Zara Phythian was born on May 10, 1984 in England. She is an actress and producer, known for Tribal Get Out Alive (2020), Doctor Strange (2016) and Morgan (2016). She has been married to Victor Marke since 2015.

Mileena.

I think I just found the perfect actress to portray as Mileena. Thanks to Budomate's website found here that I use as a reference: http://www.budomate.com/mortal-kombat-movie-2013/. Not only that, but she is really an experienced Martial artist and happens to look exactly like the model, Danni Levy, who was the model for Mileena that was featured in a "Kasting" live-action trailer and a promotional photo session for MK2011.

Also, I just watched her kick-as* Demo Reel official website promo on youtube, which I personally think she needs more viewers.. I mean she really is deadly, so put your hands on her and she will literally destroy the living heck out of you! :D

Watch this video of her kicking people's butt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5y5jhwSB1A.

I absolutely think she's the perfect actress to play as Mileena, I mean she's a high degree black belt in both Karate and Tae Kwon Do. She would be a really dangerous Mileena!! EEEEK! O_O

44. Jolene Tran

Actress | Mortal Kombat

Jolene Tran is known for Mortal Kombat: Legacy (2011) and Tricking: The Freedom of Movement (2013).

Mileena.

She was the Mileena in Kevin Tancharoen's web series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy. I think she did a really great job in playing as Mileena, so I hope that she could potentially be in the next MK series, or the film in 2013.

45. Jon Foo

Actor | Tekken

Jon Foo was born October 30th, 1982 in London England. He is known for his roles in The Protector (2005) Tekken (2010) WEAPONiZED (2016) and Rush Hour (2016) . Inspired by His fathers karate and mothers Judo He began training Kung Fu and now trains mixed styles. He went from performing at festivals...

Kenshi.

"In his bio Kenshi was described as being Eurasian. Foo is Eurasian (his father is of Asian descent, His Mother of Caucasian descent.), has the skills, and the experience (He was the lead Jin, in another Video Game adaptation, Tekken as well as staring in the fan short Street Fighter Legacy as Ryu.)

My first choice was Keanu Reeves, because of his role in the Matrix Films, then i saw Tekken and re-watched the Protector (With Tony Jaa) and realized Foo is a better fit. Another plus is that he is apart of Jackie Chan's Stunt Team, and you know those MoFo's are some of the hardest, craziest, talented, and downright toughest people in the business. " - Eric-Scissorhands

^^ All what he said. And I agree on it.

46. Don Thai Theerathada

Stunts | Aquaman

Don Theerathada is one of the most exciting talents ever to grace the Thai film and TV industry. Don won the prestigious Golden Statue Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in the film Fah (1998) (nominated for 22 Golden Statue awards and Thailand's highest grossing film at that time). After that,...

Fujin.

He's probably one of the ones that should play as Fujin. I mean I've seen his Martial Arts and everything about him is amazing, he's hasn't appeared in a lot of films, but he has been as an actor for a lot of actor's stunt doubles. Although Fujin doesn't appear later on in Mortal Kombat, I would love to see this guy play as Fujin if they can.

47. Brad James

Actor | Prisoners

In the span of just a few short years, Brad James has gone from US Marine to one of the most exciting faces in television and film today. Although widely praised for his comedic role as 'Todd' on the hit series "Tyler Perry's For Better Or Worse," Brad has shown himself to be much more than just a ...

Kai.

He's an excellent Martial artist who has served in the U.S. Marines for four years in hand-to-hand combat, along with line-training and Brazilian -Jiujutsu. I've seen his short fighting movies and his reel videos on youtube, and turns out to be really awesome when I was watching his fighting scenes, pretty solid fighter!

48. Lateef Crowder

Actor | Tekken

Lateef Crowder was born on November 23, 1977 in San Jose, California, USA. He is an actor, known for Tekken (2010), Wonder Woman (2017) and The Mandalorian (2019). He was previously married to Andressa Vallotti.

Kai and Baraka.

I think he also would make an excellent Kai or Baraka. This actor was the same actor that played as Baraka in the Mortal Kombat: Rebirth trailer back in 2010. And with his Capoeira skills as a martial artist, he would definitely make a good Kai with dreadlocks or Baraka as well.
