The worst movies ever released on the public

by qualityguyftl | created - 09 Nov 2011 | updated - 30 Nov 2011 | Public

For every great movie there are 100 bad ones. For every 100 bad movies there are 50 so horrible, so unwatchable that it is beyond comprehension why and how these films were ever made.

1. Can't Stop the Music (1980)

PG | 124 min | Biography, Comedy, Musical

A pseudo autobiography of disco's The Village People.

Director: Nancy Walker | Stars: Ray Simpson, David Hodo, Felipe Rose, Randy Jones

Votes: 4,494 | Gross: $2.00M

Alan Carr should have been run out of Hollywood, no the country for producing this vomit spill of a movie. Cashing in on the then fading popularity of The Village People and disco in general, this bio-pic of crap is badly filmed, badly staged, badly acted it's just bad everything. I enjoy a good camp film, but this is so uncomfortable to watch that even the most die hard bad movie fan won't be able to stomach it's panic attack inducing story. Five gay boys who make it big in the New York music industry? I was not aware New York had a music industry.... A pre nose job Bruce Jenner (before he married into the Kardashian cult) is a hoot as a stuck up right wing jock who within minutes has no problem sudsing up with The Villiage People in the shower at the YMCA.

2. Poseidon (2006)

PG-13 | 98 min | Action, Adventure, Thriller

50 Metascore

On New Year's Eve, the luxury ocean liner Poseidon capsizes after being swamped by a rogue wave. The survivors are left to fight for their lives as they attempt to escape the sinking ship.

Director: Wolfgang Petersen | Stars: Richard Dreyfuss, Kurt Russell, Emmy Rossum, Josh Lucas

Votes: 110,340 | Gross: $60.67M

Horrible remake of the classic 1972 "The Poseidon Adventure" stars nobody of importance except for Richard Dreyfus (wasted in this film) and Kurt Russell (Kurt what where you thinking?) the rest of the cast is right out of a Lifetime Movie and the script is D list if that. Don't waste your time with this massive flop, watch the original which to this day is still as great as it was 40 years ago.

3. The Amityville Horror (2005)

R | 90 min | Horror

33 Metascore

Newlyweds are terrorized by demonic forces after moving into a large house that was the site of a grisly mass murder a year before.

Director: Andrew Douglas | Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Melissa George, Jimmy Bennett, Jesse James

Votes: 117,296 | Gross: $65.23M

Another horrible remake (they didn't even use a house that looks like the real one) the script is horrible and it was not scary in the least bit. The remakes need to stop because they all suck! Watch the original now on remastered DVD and Blu Ray, it still gives me the creeps.

4. The Opposite Sex (1956)

Not Rated | 117 min | Comedy, Drama, Musical

Former nightclub singer Kay Hilliard, married 10 years and mother of a young daughter, is informed that her husband Steven is having an affair with chorus girl Crystal Allen, so she goes to Reno for a divorce.

Director: David Miller | Stars: June Allyson, Joan Collins, Dolores Gray, Ann Sheridan

Votes: 1,963 | Gross: $6.02M

A musical version of The Women, that should be your warning right there. No remake can top the 1939 original and this turkey is so painful to watch I still have not been able to sit though the whole thing. June Allyson is totally miscast as Mary Haines, Joan Collins can't act and destroys the Crystal Allen role. The film has that 1950's overproduced feel about it and the musical numbers are suicide inducing. Stay far away from this one

5. The Women (I) (2008)

PG-13 | 114 min | Comedy, Drama

27 Metascore

A wealthy New Yorker wrestles with the decision to leave her cheating husband, as she and her friends discover that women really can have it all.

Director: Diane English | Stars: Meg Ryan, Eva Mendes, Annette Bening, Debra Messing

Votes: 23,071 | Gross: $26.90M

Some films should never be made, this is one of them. This has to be one of the worst remakes ever put on film. Don't waste your time on it, it's a disgrace to the industry.

6. The Ice Follies of 1939 (1939)

Passed | 82 min | Drama, Music, Romance

An ice skater jeopardizes her marriage after she becomes a movie star.

Director: Reinhold Schünzel | Stars: Joan Crawford, James Stewart, Lew Ayres, Lewis Stone

Votes: 1,055

Even die hard Joan Crawford fans won't be able to sit through this unexplainable MGM mess. Crawford and Jimmy Stewart as Ice skating superstars? that you never see skate. The dialogue is vomit inducing as is the entire story. No wonder Joan was put on the box office poison list, thankfully she was able to rescue her career with her next film, 1939's The Women, not even die hard fans should waste their time on this one.

7. Mixed Nuts (1994)

PG-13 | 97 min | Comedy, Drama

14 Metascore

The events focus around a crisis hotline business on one crazy night during the Christmas holidays.

Director: Nora Ephron | Stars: Steve Martin, Madeline Kahn, Robert Klein, Anthony LaPaglia

Votes: 13,515 | Gross: $6.80M

With a top notch cast you would think this film could not miss, well it does big time. Steve Martin does not even try to act in this mess, his delivery is horrible, the script is horrible, the jokes are bad, even comedy heavy weight Madeline Kahn can't save it. I was only able to get through half before I had to take a xanax and shut it off.

8. The Born Losers (1967)

PG | 113 min | Action, Drama, Thriller

Billy Jack battles a motorcycle gang in a small California beach town.

Director: Tom Laughlin | Stars: Tom Laughlin, Elizabeth James, Jeremy Slate, William Wellman Jr.

Votes: 2,759 | Gross: $26.54M

I don't even know where to begin. The crew of this film must have been high while making it because it is one of the strangest and worst movies ever put on film. The actors (sic) can't act and seem stoned. Somehow poor Jayne Russell, looking bloated and a shadow of her former self does a cameo appearance as a drunk over the hill bar girl, it is so painful to watch you might need an oxy. If you are into "I can't believe I'm watching this" kind of movies this is for you, it is bad!

9. The Sadist (1963)

R | 92 min | Horror, Thriller

Three people driving into Los Angeles for a Dodgers game have car trouble and pull off into an old wrecking yard where they are held at bay by a bloodthirsty psycho and his crazy girlfriend.

Director: James Landis | Stars: Arch Hall Jr., Helen Hovey, Richard Alden, Marilyn Manning

Votes: 3,038

The only thing sadistic about this movie is being forced to watch it. I had heard some buzz (inaccurate to say the least) that this movie was so sick and creepy and really shocking for 1963. Well I only made it about 1/2 way before I felt my blood pressure dropping. This has to be one of the most boring movies ever made. The characters are horrible, the acting is horrible, there are scenes that last 10 minutes with no camera changes full of dialogue that has nothing to do with the movie! If your into black and white pointless films with characters out of a sideshow this is for you!

10. Revenge of the Cheerleaders (1976)

R | 87 min | Comedy, Sport

Aloha High cheerleaders, who wield considerable power in their ineptly run school, struggle against real estate developers aiming to merge their school with a rival one in order to turn the location into a shopping mall.

Director: Richard Lerner | Stars: Jerii Woods, Cheryl Smith, Helen Lang, Patrice Rohmer

Votes: 956

The only interesting thing about this movie is that it is David Hasselhoff's first movie when he was about 20. I saw this at the drive in years ago and if stomach churning horrible is your thing, this is your movie. These 30 something chicks (playing high school seniors) lick, bite, suck and screw anything in their path, which would not be so bad except the cast looks the Tuesday afternoon D list at a really bad strip club.

11. High Anxiety (1977)

PG | 94 min | Comedy, Mystery, Thriller

55 Metascore

A psychiatrist with intense acrophobia (fear of heights) goes to work for a mental institution run by doctors who appear to be crazier than their patients, and have secrets that they are willing to commit murder to keep.

Director: Mel Brooks | Stars: Mel Brooks, Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman, Harvey Korman

Votes: 23,849 | Gross: $31.06M

It is hard to believe that the mind behind the classic "Blazing Saddles" came up with this horrible comedy. Mel Brooks totally bombs here as do the rest of the cast and the painful script. This is one Mel should have left sitting on the shelf because it is just God awful, not even fun to watch as camp.
