- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsJamie FoxxChristoph WaltzLeonardo DiCaprioWith the help of a German bounty-hunter, a freed slave sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal plantation owner in Mississippi.Nominated for Best Picture
(Won Best Original Screenplay written by Quentin Tarantino)
Best Scene/Sequence; I'll go with the initial handshake dilemma. This scene was out of control and through all the intensity that was built up into complete chaos. Django wippin out revolvers left and right this scene takes the cake.
Best Actor; Christoph Waltz, it may not be underrated in most circles (including mine) but underrated nonetheless as he yet again presented his charm and chemistry to a Tarantino script. I may dare to say this may out duel his Oscar performance in Inglorious Bastards.
Best Female Role; Kerry Washington completely terrified and performed unbelievably in the cold twisted scenes. I'm surprised we don't see more of her but apparently she has a passion for politics.
Underrated performance; Jamie Fox I was iffy when I found out he took over the role from Will Smith but Jamie did not disappoint and killed the role. Very cold and rough appearance and with the help of Tarantino's witty dialogue he ran away with it. - DirectorDavid O. RussellStarsBradley CooperJennifer LawrenceRobert De NiroAfter a stint in a mental institution, former teacher Pat Solitano moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own.Nominated for Best Picture
(Won Best Actress in a Leading Role from Jennifer Lawrence)
(Should Have Won)
Best Scene/Sequence; The attic scene when Bradley Cooper looks for his wedding video and the complete breakdown he had with his parents. It showed you how difficult the issues were on his character Bradley should be a strong candidate for best actor this year.
Best Actor; Bradley Cooper like I said he should be a great candidate for lead actor. Did a fantastic job I never knew he could expand his roles quite this well.
Best Female Role; Jennifer Lawrence as usual captures you attention on screen her cold demeanor and closed feelings were her strong points and man does she look good.
Underrated performance; Robert De Niro, Unusual to put him in an underrated performance. But he wouldn't be considered the top attraction of this film but nonetheless fit a perfect superstitious Eagles fan and referenced his points very clearly to his family on how he felt on sports. You wanna learn how crazy NFL Fans are especially in the East Coast and especially in Philly! When you have so much faith in your team winning you bet everything you have. - DirectorAng LeeStarsSuraj SharmaIrrfan KhanAdil HussainA young man who survives a disaster at sea is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While cast away, he forms an unexpected connection with another survivor: a fearsome Bengal tiger.Nominated for Best Picture
(Won Best Director with Ang Lee)
(Won Best Cinematography with Claudio Miranda) - DirectorSam MendesStarsDaniel CraigJavier BardemNaomie HarrisJames Bond's loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. When MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.Wasn't Nominated for Best Picture
(Should Have Been)
Best scene/Sequence; Bond and M Driving to Bond's orphanage in the old astin martin. One of the reasons why I'm so glad Sam Mendes directed this film. Vintage Bond was back and the style was perfect.
Best Actor; Javier Bardem, Shocking!! A villain gets the best actor, but you can't pass him up the guy understands how to play a twisted villain, with an Oscar on his belt for "No Country for Old Men" You can expect him to continue dominating these roles.
Best Actress; M, she did much better in this then previous Bond's she was very cold and dramatic. Her diversity was expanded far more.
Underrated Performance; Daniel Craig, it's not often the lead role would end up being underrated. In this case being about what? The millionth Bond film.. understand this though no one else who played Bond has expanded each of their films quite like Craig in fact this was probably the best overall performance by a Bond character and the only one to compare it to is Craig in Casino Royale. - DirectorRian JohnsonStarsJoseph Gordon-LevittBruce WillisEmily BluntIn 2074, when the mob wants to get rid of someone, the target is sent into the past, where a hired gun awaits - someone like Joe - who one day learns the mob wants to 'close the loop' by sending back Joe's future self for assassination.Wasn't Nominated for Best Picture
- DirectorJohn HillcoatStarsTom HardyShia LaBeoufGuy PearceSet in Depression-era Franklin County, Virginia, a trio of bootlegging brothers are threatened by a new special deputy and other authorities angling for a cut of their profits.Wasn't Nominated for Best Picture
Best Scene/Sequence; Jack seeking for revenge against Guy Pearce's character. This film lived off it's suspense and cut the sequence perfectly. Hard for a film to keep it's intensity up throughout the film with the cold-blooded bootlegging brothers and the ability to tie comic relief along with it's dark demeanor takes a lot of talent.
Best Actor; This one's quite the toss up many great roles here. Tom Hardy was cold and seemed like something was loose in his head. Guy Pearce was a very slick sleazy grease ball villain and quite honestly is hard to not consider. But have to give the reigns to Shia LaBouef; He hasn't had a descent role come his way since before the Transformers fiasco yet played the nervous scared brother Jack right on point the scene where Guy Pearce beats him to a bloody pulp you see some terrific acting from his bone stricken fear.
Best Female role; Jessica Chastain of course knocked it out of the park looked stunning and always takes advantage of her screen time.
Underrated performance; Gary Oldman as The Gangster Floyd. Yes he didn't have much screen time but he made is presence felt even though probably everyone in the audience forgot about this character by the end of the film his flexibility to play diverse roles goes a long way hard to see many similarities between Floyd and Commissioner Gordan in the Dark Knight Rises. Right? - DirectorBen AffleckStarsBen AffleckBryan CranstonJohn GoodmanActing under the cover of a Hollywood producer scouting a location for a science fiction film, a CIA agent launches a dangerous operation to rescue six Americans in Tehran during the U.S. hostage crisis in Iran in 1979.(Won Best Picture)
(Won Best Adapted Screenplay written by Chris Terrio)
Best Scene/Sequence; When Tony "Affleck's Character" goes to hollywood for his first initial visit to plan the fake movie to rescue the hostages. I personally loved this sequence showing behind the scenes in hollywood is always a boost for me and the cinematography throughout the film was great.
Best Actor; Bryan Cranston. Once again Hollywood's hardest working man shows up it's ridiculous how many films this guys in per year. Had to give it to him here his intensity and demeanor throughout the film was great.
Best Female role; Clea Duvall. She was outspoken most of the film but her presence was all it took the hostage who was the undercover screenwriter in the scheme showed great talent and you could feel her fear in Iran.
Underrated performance; Alan Arkin as the Producer for the fake "Argo" film. This guy is just flat out entertaining and the scene between him, Affleck, and a studio exec was hilarious. - DirectorKathryn BigelowStarsJessica ChastainJoel EdgertonChris PrattA chronicle of the decade-long hunt for al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden after the September 2001 attacks, and his death at the hands of the Navy S.E.A.L.s Team 6 in May 2011.Nominated for Best Picture
Best Scene/Sequence; Too many to pick and choose from. I'll go with the more obvious one when the troops set off to break into a home that is presumed to be where Bin Laden is hiding. This is where Kathryn Bigelow shines she is the best at lining up the originality of military officers performing in the line of duty brilliant film the whole way around. For all the military gurus that disagree I beg to differ not because it's a movie... but rather because they were breaching a potential hideout where Bin Laden was hiding. I'd say some cautiousness is vital.
Best Actor; Jason Clarke, he did a fantastic job and showed great transformation throughout the film when he starts off as a torturer then the formation as a Federal Agent in Washington. He is much more diverse then what his tough guy presence shows.
Best Female role; Jessica Chastain, Second time she's featured on this list but this should have her snatching up an Oscar for a powerful performance as the agent that located Bin Laden and obsessed over the case for many years.
Underrated Performance; Kyle Chandler, as Chastain's boss Chandler is able to perform as a hard-nosed employer that demands the job gets done right and when you screw up he'll make sure you know. - DirectorBenh ZeitlinStarsQuvenzhané WallisDwight HenryLevy EasterlyFaced with both her hot-tempered father's fading health and melting ice-caps that flood her ramshackle bayou community and unleash ancient aurochs, six-year-old Hushpuppy must learn the ways of courage and love.Nominated for Best Picture
