Dvds I Own in No Real Order
Figure I'd share a list of the giant collection of dvds I own. This DOES NOT include file sharing collection (that'll come up much much later) I'll include a tiny review, but since there are so many dvds it'll take a while to add them all. Let me know what you think please comment
The only real order is maybe by Genre (I have them in CD binders), So there will be ALOT of horror then ALOT of Comedy, and so on and so forth. It's going to take a while to add them all, but I will say when it is complete.

- DirectorChris ColumbusStarsDaniel RadcliffeRupert GrintEmma WatsonAn orphaned boy enrolls in a school of wizardry, where he learns the truth about himself, his family and the terrible evil that haunts the magical world.7/10
As I child I loved the first Harry Potter, but as an adult now I see it's faults. It's still a good movie, but it feels too cartoon-y in comparison to how dark the rest of the series is. - DirectorChris ColumbusStarsDaniel RadcliffeRupert GrintEmma WatsonHarry Potter lives his second year at Hogwarts with Ron and Hermione when a message on the wall announces that the legendary Chamber of Secrets has been opened. The trio soon realize that, to save the school, it will take a lot of courage.8/10
Better film than Sorcerer's Stone, that being said, the villian still has a very schticky James Bond feel, with that in mind I still love the Harry Potter series. - DirectorAlfonso CuarónStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintHarry Potter, Ron and Hermione return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for their third year of study, where they delve into the mystery surrounding an escaped prisoner who poses a dangerous threat to the young wizard.9/10
Honestly the first real break in the cartoon-y villiany. There really is no villian in this one....just a lot of deception. - DirectorMike NewellStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintHarry Potter finds himself competing in a hazardous tournament between rival schools of magic, but he is distracted by recurring nightmares.9/10
My only complaint is that they should have just called it "Scenes from Goblet of Fire" rather because it wasn't really a full adaptation of the book.
But between this and Deathly Hallows they are the favorites of the series in my opinion - DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintWith their warning about Lord Voldemort's return scoffed at, Harry and Dumbledore are targeted by the Wizard authorities as an authoritarian bureaucrat slowly seizes power at Hogwarts.6/10
My least favorite of the films, and I think that's because it was my favorite of the books, and it didn't deliever for me. Imelda really stole the show as Umbridge, and that was really the only saving grace for me. - DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintAs Harry Potter begins his sixth year at Hogwarts, he discovers an old book marked as "the property of the Half-Blood Prince" and begins to learn more about Lord Voldemort's dark past.8/10
The first battle of Hogwarts is very much missing in this film (granted Deathly Hallows makes up for this), other than that it was a real step up from Order of the Phoenix, I really enjoyed the romantic intrests in the film, reminding us why we all love this characters oh so much. - DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintAs Harry, Ron and Hermione race against time and evil to destroy the Horcruxes, they uncover the existence of the three most powerful objects in the wizarding world: the Deathly Hallows.10/10
Call me biased because I love Harry Potter but Part 1 and 2 are a perfect conclusion to this epic film saga, it made up for the lackluster feeling left from the fifth, and sixth films, granted some people will think the first part is slow moving, but I tend to disagree. If you watch both parts together as one film, it is excellent and doesn't disapoint.
I loved the grittiness of the first part, and the brutality of being on their own with all of these evil men and women hunting them down. - DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintHarry, Ron, and Hermione search for Voldemort's remaining Horcruxes in their effort to destroy the Dark Lord as the final battle rages on at Hogwarts.10/10
This was perfect, the second part had it all, action packed battle sequences, romance, heartbreak, an EVIL villian that seems to be the embodiment of all things cruel, sadistic, and evil in the world, and some humor.
This film was most exciting to see in the Imax, it blew my mind how great and pleasing a conclusion this film was. - DirectorJon FavreauStarsJosh HutchersonJonah BoboDax ShepardTwo young brothers are drawn into an intergalactic adventure when their house is hurled through the depths of space by the magical board game they are playing.7/10
It's cute enough, even if it is just Jumanji in Space. I do enjoy the brother's relationship in this film, it feels very real. Kristen Stewart just sort of exists in this film. - DirectorIvan ReitmanStarsBill MurrayDan AykroydSigourney WeaverThree parapsychologists forced out of their university funding set up shop as a unique ghost removal service in New York City, attracting frightened yet skeptical customers.10/10
What's not to love about this film, visually it was quite amazing (especially for it's time), it was funny, it was scary, and it had quite a conclusion.
This was a perfect hybrid of both horror and comedy, and it never really switched too often (as many horror/comedy films do) and remained both funny and scary at once. - DirectorIvan ReitmanStarsBill MurrayDan AykroydSigourney WeaverThe discovery of a massive river of ectoplasm and a resurgence of spectral activity allows the staff of Ghostbusters to revive the business.9/10
Again great visuals, very funny, very scary.
It does feel more horror-oriented than the first, and some of the character interactions feel sort of forced.
On a personal note, Viggo scared me much more than the dog people in the first Ghostbusters - DirectorTim BurtonStarsJohnny DeppChristina RicciMiranda RichardsonIchabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of three people; the culprit is legendary apparition The Headless Horseman.9/10
Beautiful Burton-esque imagry.
I remember going to see this when I was 10 years old and being scared out of my pants.
But grown up what really sticks out to me is the classic Agatha Christie style of murder mystery, while remaining a gothic horror that explores some rather frightening concepts. - DirectorTed BermanRichard RichStarsGrant BardsleyFreddie JonesSusan SheridanA young boy and a group of misfit friends embark on a quest to find a dark magic item of ultimate power before a diabolical tyrant can.7/10
I remember liking this a lot more when I was younger, but grown up I can appreciate the story, but the characters annoy me more than anything, specifically Gurgi, the ending is kind of sweet and sad, but again it's Disney so you have to expect that sort of thing. - DirectorLouis LeterrierStarsEdward NortonLiv TylerTim RothBruce Banner, a scientist on the run from the U.S. Government, must find a cure for the monster he turns into whenever he loses his temper.8/10
This played much better than Ang Lee's Hulk (which by no means was a BAD movie, it just wasn't a great comic book movie), however it was in no way a perfect movie.
Edward Norton was a good choice for Bruce Banner, I most specifically think of American History X and Primal Fear when I think about Norton's great way to play unbalanced characters.
That being said in comparsion to the rest of the Marvel Universe films it really is the weakest link, nothing really goes on until the last part of the film, and until then it just feels like a Bourne Identity chase movie. - DirectorHenry SelickStarsPaul TerryJoanna LumleyPete PostlethwaiteAn orphan who lives with his two cruel aunts befriends anthropomorphic bugs who live inside a giant peach, and they embark on a journey to New York City.4/10
I loved this a lot more as a child then I do grown up.
It feels too over the top, and not in a good way (Roald Dahl is a master at being dark and over the top, but this was a different sort of medicine). The characters were so one dimensonal, the Centipede was a douchebag, the Spider was gothic, the Grasshopper was an intelectual, the Earthworm was scared of everything, the Aunts were just cruel just because they are (not even in a menacing way, but rather like Bluto from Popeye where they are just naturally just mean by default).
The ONLY thing I really still like about this film is the stop motion, and the underwater sequence, both were really well done and look beautiful, given the rest of the material is rubbish. - DirectorTim BurtonStarsMia WasikowskaJohnny DeppHelena Bonham CarterNineteen-year-old Alice returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen's reign of terror.7/10
This wasn't a BAD movie, it just wasn't as great as it could have been.
All of the actors play really great characters with a lot of dimension and humor to them. It has that real quirky and pretty Burton look, but with all of that said and done, it felt too much like Chronicles of Narnia over Alice in Wonderland. - DirectorDavid FincherStarsBrad PittCate BlanchettTilda SwintonTells the story of Benjamin Button, a man who starts aging backwards with consequences.10/10
Beautifully shot, quite original (it is REALLY LOOSELY based on a F. Scott Fitzgerald short story, but stands on it's own), granted you could say it's very similar to Forrest Gump (and while this is going to inspire ALOT of hate) but I honestly enjoyed this much more than Gump (still a great movie though none the less). I don't remember ever crying this much at the ending of a movie.
An epic love story that spans over eighty years, David Fincher also proves what a masterful film maker he is, and how he can direct practically any genre of film.
I think Brad and Cate share great chemistry together (they've played off each other before) and you can feel that coming through the screen (both the joy and heartbreak of their time together) - DirectorChris ColumbusStarsRobin WilliamsEmbeth DavidtzSam NeillAn android endeavors to become human as he gradually acquires emotions.7/10
It is a very emotonial movie, Robin Williams plays the character of Andrew very well, however the rest of the cast feel waaaay too Hallmark Movie of the Week around him.
That being said it's a very cute movie definately worth checking out, if only once. - DirectorTim BurtonMike JohnsonStarsJohnny DeppHelena Bonham CarterEmily WatsonWhen a shy groom practices his wedding vows in the inadvertent presence of a deceased young woman, she rises from the grave assuming he has married her.8/10
It was a great movie, but it was in NO WAY a kids movie, it has some rather dark themes, and a somewhat strange (not quirky Burton strange) Charles Dickins vibe to it, which is weird for a kids movie.
It didn't quite hold up to the amazing ground breaking film that is Nightmare Before Christmas, but it is still a very good film, with memorable characters, and songs. - DirectorJonathan FrakesStarsPatrick StewartJonathan FrakesBrent SpinerThe Borg travel back in time intent on preventing Earth's first contact with an alien species. Captain Picard and his crew pursue them to ensure that Zefram Cochrane makes his maiden flight reaching warp speed.9/10
The best of the TNG films, I find it hard to believe that there are any creatures in Sci-Fi as menacing as the Borg (exception being the Xenomorph in Alien).
The film works great for the uninitated over any of the other Trek films (exception being the Reboot) it provides a lot of humor, intensity, and a great story to boot. - DirectorBryan SingerStarsPatrick StewartHugh JackmanIan McKellenIn a world where mutants (evolved super-powered humans) exist and are discriminated against, two groups form for an inevitable clash: the supremacist Brotherhood, and the pacifist X-Men.10/10
What is not to love about the original X-Men?
Seriously I'd love to know.
It is an adult themed story disguised as a comic book extravaganza, the themes of segregation, racism, homophobia, and genocide are VERY visable, and played well in the trials of the mutant race. - DirectorBryan SingerStarsPatrick StewartHugh JackmanHalle BerryWhen anti-mutant Colonel William Stryker kidnaps Professor X and attacks his school, the X-Men must ally with their archenemy Magneto to stop him.10/10
Even better than the first, I found myself quite disturbed by the villian's motivations in this film, I find it strange that this was marketed for children, when I feel it was quite violent for a PG-13, and the themes of genocide were far too intense for younglings. - DirectorBrett RatnerStarsPatrick StewartHugh JackmanHalle BerryThe human government develops a cure for mutations, and Jean Grey becomes a darker uncontrollable persona called the Phoenix who allies with Magneto, causing escalation into an all-out battle for the X-Men.6/10
It wasn't as amazing or deep as the previous two installments, but as an action movie it was quite entertaining. I'd rather a child see this over the first two films.
It was cute, for what it was, but no really brain candy in this one, just eye candy. - DirectorHenry SelickStarsDanny ElfmanChris SarandonCatherine O'HaraJack Skellington, king of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town, but his attempts to bring Christmas to his home causes confusion.10/10
This is a classic for my generation, it really looks beautiful even by today's standards. I hardly see anyone hating on this movie, people say it's overrated, sure, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone HATE on this movie. Hell my 65 year old grandmother loves this movie. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster.10/10
This was awesome, I loved everything about this movie.
I am a sucker for dream analysis. It looks goofy on paper sure, Dream Thieves breaking into people's minds,. But it sooooo deep and so intense.
Christopher Nolan really makes great brain candy films that stick with you long after you watch it.
