new queer cinema
by Eriko_Tsogo | created - 21 Dec 2011 | updated - 29 Jul 2015 | Publicunapologetic in their frank look at sexuality and combined stylistic elements, these are the films that eschew positive images and happy endings in favor of more complexly queer musings on the nature of gender and sexuality.
there is no manifesto, no rules and no particular canon, making it in essence not a movement or a genre but, perhaps more accurately, a trend. Most of the New Queer Cinema films come from the independent scene, making them less answerable to corporate or mainstream interests, thus ever more curious for the film enthusiast.
