I tried to put a list together that would not only appease fans but would work in a film as well, by that I mean I didn't just pick a bunch of A-listers.

I know what most people are going to say, but hear me out. Is Mr. Smith to old? Maybe, but the guy takes care of himself. He has the acting chops and is very familiar with the genre. The whole thought behind Shepard is "he can be anyone". He's the type of big name that would bring instant credibility to the ME movie.

Frist, let me say I know he's way too young. Pretty much the opposite of my Will Smith pick, but hear me out. We can all agree that the Mass Effect movie is a distant event but when they do start casting this movie this kid will be the perfect age. He's already a very recognized actor for being so young. His acting "skills" may need some polish but the kid has time.
