To my surprise, this movie got a lot of favorable reviews. Because of this, and also because I like horror movies with little creatures in it, I watched it yesterday. However it turned out to be a huge disappointment. I wasn't at all impressed. I honestly don't care if a movie is made with a low budget. I've seen several which I consider quite good. Usually most of these low-budget films get completely butchered down by the audience. Sometimes that's totally unjustified in my opinion. This movie however is a poor, unimaginative wannabe. Even (the incredibly bad) Frankenstein's Island had more substance. Both movies start the same more or less. A group of shipwrecked people wash up on an island, which might - or might not - be abandoned. In AotBC these cardboard survivors are beyond - far far beyond - being anything interesting. And before anything happens to them, they're walking through the woods. Yeah, that's right. "Nice" stretched-out scenes of: walking-through-the-woods. Even more numb then the walking-through-the-woods scenes in Alien Factor. Like almost every movie with a related theme, there's one guy who's totally over-the-top asocial. (For instance: Leslie Nielsen in Day of the Animals, or Karl Hardman in Night of the Living Dead) It's so utter pointless cliché! And the worst thing is, that this is actually the main attraction of the first part of the movie. The little dollies were a bit fun. But definitely not enough - by far - to save the movie.

I've caught a cold - quite nasty, and it's lasting for a week now - and the elections for Dutch parliament took a lot of screen time. So watching movies isn't going very well at the mo. Instead of that I'm watching a lot of Rifftrax and telly junk and stuff like that.
