10 titles
- DirectorUbaldo RagonaSidney SalkowStarsVincent PriceFranca BettoiaEmma DanieliWhen a disease turns all of humanity into the living dead, the last man on earth becomes a reluctant vampire hunter.NUMBER 10:
Not very scary, but the situation Robert Morgan finds himself in is very grim and most of all depressing. I saw this movie with horrible sound quality and aspect ratio, but it still made a huge impact on me.
It works not only as a horror, but also as a touching psychological drama. - DirectorRidley ScottStarsSigourney WeaverTom SkerrittJohn HurtThe crew of a commercial spacecraft encounters a deadly lifeform after investigating a mysterious transmission of unknown origin.NUMBER 9:
With an epic opening credit, the atmosphere is set already at the start. We are introduced to the characters, get to observe how the ship looks like, listen to some fun dumb banter... The first alien doesn't show up until... about an hour or so? But when it does, it's a truly remarkable entrance! The rest of the movie is full of cold-sweated tension as the crew members try to stat alive and well, not get ripped up by these crazy bastards!
A movie which a true horror fan can't miss. - DirectorGore VerbinskiStarsNaomi WattsMartin HendersonBrian CoxA journalist must investigate a mysterious videotape which seems to cause the death of anyone one week to the day after they view it.NUMBER 8:
Gore Verbinski, you're a genius!
The concept of someone watching a tape and then having 7 days to live is unanimously horrifying. And this movie uses it to great effect, with the main character Rachel seeing little things featured in the video show up for real and having even more to fear when her son watches the tape too!
The only thing scarier than a really believable psychopath is a mentally sick girl with long, dark hair. Why are children in horror movies so freakin' creepy?? - DirectorPeter JacksonStarsTimothy BalmeDiana PeñalverElizabeth MoodyA young man's mother is bitten by a Sumatran rat-monkey. She gets sick and dies, at which time she comes back to life, killing and eating dogs, nurses, friends, and neighbors.NUMBER 7:
Personally I prefer the title Braindead, even though I know another movie already maintains that title.
Anyway, it's far from scary, but it's non-stop hilarious over-the-top gore and craziness!
A priest who kicks ass for God, horny zombies, evil babies... Can it get any better?!
It's perceived as the goriest movie ever made. And with a rumor like that, you know what you are gonna get. Peter Jackson went all in and went so ballistic with the violence it makes Saw look like Barbie In The Twelve Dancing Princesses! - DirectorMarjane SatrapiStarsRyan ReynoldsGemma ArtertonAnna KendrickA likable guy pursues his office crush with help from his evil talking pets, but things turn sinister when she stands him up for a date.NUMBER 6:
It's darkly funny just as often as it's creepy. But it's also a sad character drama of a man who makes one, uuuuhm... "mistake" and then has life go downhill from there.
What's remarkable is that no matter how grim it gets, the laughs keep rolling in. But after a while, you also start getting depressed and it becomes quite a deep movie as well.
I saw it at a film festival and will never forget it. - DirectorJames WongStarsDevon SawaAli LarterKerr SmithAfter getting a premonition about a plane crash on his school trip, Alex, a student saves a few of his classmates. However, their situation gets complicated when death starts chasing them.NUMBER 5:
This pick might make some people groan and wonder if this is some sort of joke. But as funny as the movie sometimes is, I am constantly at the edge of my seat. Right from the start, it's evident something is terribly wrong and I find myself sweating with fear already.
The experience is really enhanced if I spoil as little as possible. In fact, if you don't even know the plot of the movie... then you are in for a hell of a shock!
Right after I had seen this movie, I had this sudden bad feeling... If you see it, you will probably understand why...! - DirectorMikhail BrashinskiyStarsTatyana KolganovaTimofey EletskiyTatyana RyabokonA group of Russian tourists go on a shopping spree to the neighboring Finland - only to be attacked by the Finnish cannibals. We focus on a middle-aged woman and her teenage son who is shooting the film, as we watch it, on his cell-phone.NUMBER 4:
It's unfortunate how sparsely available it is... This movie was one I wanted to show to everyone around me right away afterwards!
The movie's plot is truly absurd (and might I say ridiculous) but the director does such a splendid job at creating tension I totally buy into it and feel terrified. But it's also morbidly hilarious and I laughed both at the two main characters' (a mother and son) lines and actions, and at some of the surreal moments as well.
Damn it, why can't I find this movie on DVD?! - DirectorJeff RenfroeMarteinn ThorssonStarsRichard ReesJeremy SistoUdo KierAfter receiving mysterious empty packages inside his apartment, a young computer-programmer begins a personal investigation into their origins.NUMBER 3:
I've basically covered everything in my review of this movie, but I might as well sum up my thought here as well.
The cinematography is mind-blowingly beautiful, the story fascinating and constantly engaging and best of all... it makes use of a limited setting. Almost the entire movie takes place in an apartment building and when it leaves that setting, it's almost only for Adam to go down and buy milk. LOTS of milk (this is explained in the movie). There are many little mysteries. Some of them are answered, some are not. But what I really love is the main character's paranoia and his reactions to the strange occurrences around him. And Jeremy Sisto (great as always) makes him immensely likeable and interesting. - DirectorSrdjan SpasojevicStarsSrdjan 'Zika' TodorovicSergej TrifunovicJelena GavrilovicAn aging porn star agrees to participate in an "art film" in order to make a clean break from the business, only to discover that he has been drafted into making a pedophilia and necrophilia themed snuff film.NUMBER 2:
It's a matter of taste. You will love it or hate it.
For its shocking subject matter, it's an extremely interesting and suspenseful movie! I was mesmerized by every second. The characters are brilliantly crafted, the script is intelligent, the cinematography is bedazzling and the music glues to your brain like a magnet!
If you have a hard stomach, see it. But be prepared, it's not an easy watch. - DirectorBrian De PalmaStarsSissy SpacekPiper LaurieAmy IrvingCarrie White, a shy, friendless teenage girl who is sheltered by her domineering, religious mother, unleashes her telekinetic powers after being humiliated by her classmates at her senior prom.NUMBER 1:
You will be Carried away by it!
Ahahahahahahahahaha...
But seriously though, it's a f ucking masterpiece.
