Dwarfism and Lord Of The Rings: An Ethical Dilemma
As most of us know, Peter Jackson decided to cast a larger actors as hobbits and dwarves (in the book dwarves are between 1.2192 to 1.524m and hobbits 0.61–1.22 m) for his Lord of The Ring trilogy instead of little persons (US Department of Health defines an adult dwarf with a height not exceeding 147.32 cm).
All five main actors who played hobbit are larger actors. The same happen with Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) as large actors were cast as dwarfs.
Do you think Jackson's decision to cast actors who aren't little people was a fair decision?
