To date one of the best atmospheres in gaming. Gameplay and story are insanely good. For graphics either get mods or play remastered version. Even without it still looks good. It's one of those games that you appreciate even more after completing the whole trilogy (although, the 2nd one is more of a filler). - DirectorYoshinori KitaseA group of students at a military academy rescue a mysterious girl, who some say is the sorceress who wants to govern the universe.(10, close to 9)
In all those years since its release, I played FF8 easily a dozen times. I just find myself getting back every few years. While some mechanics are abuseable and will make the game a joke up to the last boss, playing RPGs rarely is about the challange or gameplay. It's about the story and overall experience at which FF8 excells heavily. - DirectorKen LevineStarsTroy BakerCourtnee DraperKiff VandenHeuvelA man is sent to the flying city of Columbia to find a missing girl. However, upon arrival he discovers that the city, its people, and his objective are all not what they seem.(10)
There are only very few, VERY negligible flaws in this game but the overall experience and conclusion of the series makes it together with BioShock 1 a masterpiece. - DirectorCasey HudsonStarsShohreh AghdashlooMaggie BairdAdam BaldwinAfter being revived from death and having to join a pro-human organization without a choice, Commander Shepard must assemble a team, battle a new threat, and make tough choices in order to save the galaxy from total annihilation once more.(10)
Basically an improvement in every part to the first one. And the first one already was an outstanding piece of work. Masterpiece to date. - DirectorDavid CageStarsValorie CurryBryan DechartJesse WilliamsThree androids go on a quest to discover who they really are.(10, Close to 9 #watched)
3 Stories being told which are woven together. While I found Kara's story to generic, both others were very interesting. The game may be the pinnacle of "choice matters" to date. It feels incredibly realistic. One might argue that at some points androids feel too human, but they were specifically programmed to act as human as possible. In addition, we can only speculate how it would turn out if this would happen in reality.
All in all, it is just my taste to dislike one of three stories told and doesn't take away from the masterpiece that was accomplished with this game. And it's definitely a plus to be fully enjoyable to watch instead of play. - DirectorMathijs de JongeStarsAshly BurchLaura van TolAva PotterIn a primitive tribal world where strange, monstrous, animalistic machines roam the wilderness, a brave young female warrior goes on a quest to learn the truth about her mysterious origin and the state the world is in.(10)
Nowadays I have a hard time to not getting bored by singleplayer games. HZD broke this barrier. I was addicted to everything. The plot, graphics, immersion, music. Just everything. It is to date the only game besides Final Fantasy 8 which I went for completionist. And I'm still looking to play it again on highest difficulty with the DLC. - DirectorCasey HudsonStarsJennifer HaleMark MeerKimberly BrooksEarth is under attack by a monstrous race of gigantic living ships known as the Reapers. Even if Commander Shepard could unite all surviving species in the galaxy, only a miracle could save them. Then again, Shepard did come back from the dead.(10)
Controversial conclusion to the series, which I am fine with. Hence, overall the trilogy is a pure masterpiece. ME3 again improves on graphics and smoother gameplay. Soundtrack of the whole trilogy is something you will find yourself get back to to listen to it. If it wasn't for the controversial ending, I could see ME3 being in the top 3-5 of best games of all time. - DirectorNick HermanJason LatinoDennis LenartStarsAdam HarringtonErin YvetteChuck KourouklisAs Bigby Wolf, the big bad wolf in human form, you will discover that the brutal, bloody murder of a Fable is just a taste of things to come when another dead Fable is found which starts the hunt for a serial killer.(10, close to 9)
It is close but it is a masterpiece. Personally I liked it more than the walking dead because the pace in this felt almost perfect. Truly felt like a long movie. - DirectorSwen VinckeStarsBrian BowlesAlix Wilton ReganHarry Hadden-PatonSet in a fantasy world where a form of energy known as Source, and individuals called Sourcerers can manipulate this energy, are hunting down an organization to protect their world from the evil Voidwokens who are drawn by that energy.(9, close to 8) (Definitive Edition)
Easiest to describe this game is turn based Skyrim. It is incredible rich with story, lore and stuff to do, maybe even to much.
This game is so close to perfect. Everything it is doing so very good turned out to be a double edged sword.
Story and lore is extremely rich, exploring and feeling of adventure is on point, class customization is maybe the best I've ever seen in any game and much more.
Yet, because there is so much to do and Story and Lore heavy, following it got very tiring which is a problem. The game gives you subtle hints for your quests and if you don't pay attention, you may wander around for hours. This led for me to use the games wiki a lot. More than I'd like to have to. It felt like you have to speak with almost every NPC, which, again, takes ages.
The customization, as great as it is, made the game very easy after you figured it out. Now, you can increase difficulty, but increasing difficulty without ANY compensation in return feels very bad. In addition, the game had a few very bad difficulty spikes. At one point you can walk around with gear 4 levels below the enemy level, at another you are screwed if it's not close to the possible max at the point.
If the game would have a little more of a casual friendly quest system, which would've decreased the time to finish the game tremendously (It took me 106 hours) it would be an easy 10.
But no matter how good a game is, if you want the game to end at about 60% progress instead of hoping to last even longer, it can't be a 10 (at least not for me). - DirectorThomas MahlerStarsErik BraaAeralie BrightonAndrew LackeyOri fell from the Spirit Tree in the forest of Nibel during a storm and was adopted by a bear-like creature named Naru, who raised Ori as her own.NOTE: I played the definitive edition, but imdb is missing it.

Art and music are outstanding. Story is fine. The gameplay mechanics were creative and fun, challenging and rewarding sometimes.
The only problem I had, which REALLY bothered me, was that some parts were meant to be difficult but they were more frustrating than difficult. Like, you have to get through a level fast and every few seconds there are "traps" which will kill you. It was nothing to react to but just "die and learn to avoid", which I'm not a fan of in games like Ori. Only game "die and learn to avoid" worked were Souls games. - DirectorCasey HudsonStarsSteven BarrKimberly BrooksKeith DavidIn a technologically advanced future, an elite human soldier takes command of a prototype star ship and works to defend the galaxy from danger.(9, Close to 10)
Somewhat dated graphics and gameplay mechanics. But the story is superb and atmosphere together with immersion makes it to date one of the very best RPGs. When playing search for mods to enhance graphics (if those are a concern to you). - DirectorJordan ThomasMichael CsuricsStarsFenella WoolgarDoug BoydAnne BobbyIn 1968, the first successfully-bonded Big Daddy is reawakened to save his Little Sister from the clutches of Rapture's new leader, Sofia Lamb.(9)
Like a filler in the series as stories aren't really connected. Story lacks a little bit but anything else is top. - DirectorMaddy ThorsonWhile scaling a supernatural mountain in an attempt to salvage her self-respect, a depressed young woman is confronted by a doppelganger manifesting her doubts and fears.(9)
Best thing is how good it feels to play. Story is fine. I know it has some deeper meaning but it doesn't make it any more interesting that way. Graphics could've been just a very tiny bit more detailed. - DirectorHidetaka MiyazakiYajuan ChengJun'ya MoritaStarsPik Sen LimOlivia MaceRoger RingroseThe fire is fading. Darkness creeps across the land. The Lords of Cinder charged with watching over the First Flame have abandoned their thrones. The Champion of Ash, an undead is chosen to return them to their thrones.(9)
I tried DS1 and DS2. Both were fine but each had some flaws which bored me sooner or later to an extend that I never finished them. DS3 had something I was missing in the previous titles which made it a joy to play. Maybe the gameplay finally was smooth enough for me. - DirectorRaphael ColantonioHarvey SmithStarsSusan SarandonLena HeadeyCarrie FisherAfter being framed for the murder of the Empress he swore to protect, a once trusted bodyguard with supernatural abilities is forced to become a masked assassin in order to seek revenge on those who conspired against him.(9)
Something I was just playing to fill the hole that BioShock left, I was more than happily surprised by it. Gameplay is incredible fun, there are different approaches to complete levels and the story/narration is nice. - DirectorHidetaka MiyazakiKazuhiro HamataniStarsDaisuke NamikawaMiyuki SatôJin UrayamaSet in a reimagining of 1500s Sengoku era Japan. An unnamed shinobi, tasked with protecting a young lord of mystical lineage, who is left for dead when a powerful samurai attacks and chops off his arm.(8, close to 9)
Sekiro is such a unbelievable good game in some aspects BUT there are also some aspects that REALLY bothered me.
First off, I always disliked Dark Souls combat because it felt clunky and slow but the progression system and customization were great + boss fights didn't felt super repetitive.
Now Sekiro on the other hand shines heavily in lore and its world. It's incredible beautiful and immersive. Now the combat is a double edged sword. It is very addictive and rewarding, but at the same time it's repetitive. This is a huge point because there is little customization to vary your playstyle which hurts also boss fights. Because there is more or less just the same playstyle available, every bossfight play similar. Some more some less, but it's way more repetitive this way than Dark Souls. Because of this balance maybe was easier to do, but to make bosses hard, fromSoftware had to build in RNG. The last boss is a perfect example of it. You can have attempts when you basically didn't get hit in the first 2 phases. With bad patterns, you can lose to the first, super easy, phase. Some patterns are super easy and some very hard. And this applies to almost every boss. It's super inconsistent.
I hope someday fromSoftware will take the best from Dark Souls and best from Sekiro. This way a masterpiece is guaranteed. - DirectorYoshinori KitaseYasushi MatsumuraMasato YagiA former soldier from an evil company joins a mercenary clan to fight the company he once served.(8, close to 9)
This game does so many things right but there are many things that went wrong.
One of my major problems is that the story overall is good but the storytelling isn't. If you just play the game without sidequests, the plot will have severe holes. Important informations should never be optional.
The gameplay is ok'ish. Typical FF turn based combat and limits. So almost identical to FF8. The Materia system is a double edged sword. It can be interesting but also frustrating. Many QoL improvements would've been a blessing.
The music is very memorable. Graphics didn't age to well.
It's honestly a very good game but MANY minor things (beside majors about the plot/telling) add up and make it sometimes a chore. - DirectorDavid CageStarsPascal LangdaleJacqui AinsleyJudi BeecherAs a child goes missing, his father tirelessly works to rescue him, while a journalist, an FBI agent, and a private detective try to identify his kidnapper known only as the "Origami Killer".(8, close to 9)
No doubt there was an incredible amount of effort and thought behind this game. But in the end, the final product matters.
The story starts of a tiny bit to slow, but not to much. The plot gets more interesting as you progress and what looks like an obvious plot at first has many twists to offer. Choices matter. Not to much for the gameplay and progression but for the ending. There are over a dozens of endings. Normally this would be a reason for multiple playthroughs. But the game heavily relies on the mystery of the plot and once its solved the excitement goes down rapidly.
The gameplay is a bit boring but it fits the narrative heavy theme. This game is more like Black Mirrors: Bandersnatch. Although sometimes the gameplay is a bit annoying and interrupts the immersion and storytelling.
Overall it's a great experience for once and definitely a choice for people not to much into games. - DirectorPetri JärvilehtoStarsMatthew PorrettaLloyd FloydGeoffrey CantorWhile on vacation in the small town of Bright Falls, a struggling writer must investigate the mysterious disappearance of his wife while events from his latest manuscript, which he can't remember writing, begin to come true.(8, Close to 9)
Great game overall with little flaws to it. Immersion is great and plot is very interesting. Gameplay sometimes little bit clunky. It's like a less horror/better story Resident Evil. - Summoned to a self contained digital universe, a young child with catlike features and eyes, waking up, learns about their role as 'the messiah'. And begins their journey, a pilgrimage, to restore the world's long dead sun.(8)
Honestly, without the great creativity and use of mechanics this game would've been very mediocre. The story was ok. It wasn't especially exciting or moving to me. The soundtrack was kinda nice although a track or two were a bit off at their use. Animations were good I guess. Graphics obviously on the low part but not really offensively bad and still able to charm. - DirectorAmir RaoStarsLogan CunninghamAshley Lynn BarrettKristin WilsonAfter a cataclysmic event, a boy wakes up and discovers the Bastion, a floating haven called home by a strange man named Rucks, and journeys the ruins of the old world to find shards to piece their world back together.(8, close to 7)
Great art and soundtrack. Gameplay is smooth but it is missing something personally. Biggest dislike is that it's short. Overall I have nothing against short games but narration/story/immersion heavy titles have a build up until you feel immersed and by the time you do, it's almost over. - StarsLucien DodgeKimlinh TranEdward BoscoTakes place in a world populated by anthropomorphic creatures, where the main character Dust comes upon a sentient sword, the Blade of Ahrah, and joined by Fidget sets out for a small town in search of answers.(7, close to 6)
Nothing really wrong with this, but it's nothing mindblowing. Also heavily competitive genre. - StarsRobert McCollumR. Bruce ElliottColleen Clinkenbeard(7, close to 6)
I would consider this top of its genre because there are little good titles in this genre. Still, an 8 for this genre feels wrong. It's fun and all but nothing super special. - DirectorKan GaoA story about a young boy and an injured bird, that dives into the creative imagination of a child.(6, close to 7)
The game is solid. It has love to the detail, great sounds and animations and a good soundtrack. But it has 1% gameplay. Basically a walking simulator.
The story is simple, but it is a necessity if it has to be told well without any dialogue. Thanks to the narrative and animations, the player understands the story.
I commend the devs for the details and narration.
But yeah, that's it. 1h long almost doing nothing. - DirectorJens Peter KurupStarsBrian BloomCharles MartinetCipriano IguaranKane and Lynch: Dead Men follows the violent and chaotic journey of two men - a flawed mercenary and a medicated psychopath - and their brutal attitude towards right and wrong.(5, close to 6)
I played it as co-op which almost always makes a game better. Still, it was just "meh". Characters are nice tho.
