- DirectorPeyton ReedStarsPaul RuddEvangeline LillyMichael PeñaAs Scott Lang balances being both a superhero and a father, Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym present an urgent new mission that finds the Ant-Man fighting alongside The Wasp to uncover secrets from their past.Cut this film in half, remove the Ghost and Morpheus, replace the wooden, unrelatable actress who plays The Wasp, remove Ant-Man's business sub-plot and add Captain Marvel. Boom! Now deserving of MCU inclusion! As is, it feels too much like a long episode of Iron Fist (Netflix).
- DirectorJon WattsStarsTom HollandSamuel L. JacksonJake GyllenhaalFollowing the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.NOT YET RANKED: According to Feige the final chapter of this phase of the MCU. Will update this list with ranking after the release date this summer 2019.
- DirectorAlan TaylorStarsChris HemsworthNatalie PortmanTom HiddlestonWhen the Dark Elves attempt to plunge the universe into darkness, Thor must embark on a perilous and personal journey that will reunite him with doctor Jane Foster.Initially this felt like a more enjoyable and impressive film than Thor 1. Upon reflection it was just a lot more special effects and spectacle. Probably too dark and honestly Odin feels short changed.
- DirectorScott DerricksonStarsBenedict CumberbatchChiwetel EjioforRachel McAdamsWhile on a journey of physical and spiritual healing, a brilliant neurosurgeon is drawn into the world of the mystic arts.As an origin story for a magical hero, introducing the metaphyiscal into the picture, and making it all work is an amazing acheivement. If only Strange had a bit more charisma! Swinton looks good but is so flat and unconvincing. McAdams felt shoehorned in. (Enough with these poorly written girlfriend characters already!) The best actor in this is surprisingly the other Benedict: Long Live Wong!
- DirectorPeyton ReedStarsPaul RuddMichael DouglasCorey StollArmed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, cat burglar Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, pull off a plan that will save the world. After first viewing, I felt like I liked this film the least of the MCU. Upon reflection I realise this was because of my disappointment in Marvel for dropping Edgar Wright as director (though they used his script). Overall it was pretty good for a third-tier hero's origin story.
- DirectorLouis LeterrierStarsEdward NortonLiv TylerTim RothBruce Banner, a scientist on the run from the U.S. Government, must find a cure for the monster he turns into whenever he loses his temper.Considering this being only the second film released by Marvel Studios, and the budget of only 70 Million (conpared to 200m for Guardians 1) and all the production troubles, this film is surprisingly good. Certainly much better than most people give it credit for. Still, Ruffolo's Hulk is more likable and ultimately the best version.
- DirectorJon FavreauStarsRobert Downey Jr.Mickey RourkeGwyneth PaltrowWith the world now aware of his identity as Iron Man, Tony Stark must contend with both his declining health and a vengeful mad man with ties to his father's legacy. This film is near the bottom ov everyone's MCU list for a reason: It's simply not very good. I understand: Favrou was rushed to release it on a ridiculously short production time, Rhodey gets swapped with another actor, etc. Yet because of RDJ's incredible charisma and Rockwell's veryfun performance Iron Man 2 is more rewatchable than Thor 2 Any Ant-Man film and several others.
- DirectorJon WattsStarsTom HollandMichael KeatonRobert Downey Jr.Peter Parker balances his life as an ordinary high school student in Queens with his superhero alter-ego Spider-Man, and finds himself on the trail of a new menace prowling the skies of New York City.I do believe Tom Holland feels like the best version of Spider-Man to date. But this film felt completely unnecessary. It's only purpose is to get Spider-Man introduced to Stark and the Avengers. Vulture had too few scenes. The High-School & party scenes were really hard to watch. Ugh! So disappointing!
- DirectorAnna BodenRyan FleckStarsBrie LarsonSamuel L. JacksonBen MendelsohnCarol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.Larsen is great and Jackson is always fun but other than the newness of (finally!) having a female lead, this film feels like it only exists because of the amazing success of DC's Wonder Woman (2017) - which is a far superior film.
- DirectorShane BlackStarsRobert Downey Jr.Guy PearceGwyneth PaltrowWhen Tony Stark's world is torn apart by a formidable terrorist called the Mandarin, he starts an odyssey of rebuilding and retribution.
- DirectorJoss WhedonStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris EvansMark RuffaloWhen Tony Stark and Bruce Banner try to jump-start a dormant peacekeeping program called Ultron, things go horribly wrong and it's up to Earth's mightiest heroes to stop the villainous Ultron from enacting his terrible plan.
