Silent Night

Father Joseph Mohr asked Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf, to compose music to lyrics he wrote when the church organ was damaged. The song was first performed with guitar accompaniment for the Christmas Eve mass.
