10 Best Horror Films of 1947
by nauru-1 | created - 07 Oct 2013 | updated - 20 Jan 2018 | PublicThis is where horror completely falls off the map once again, a drought from which it would not fully recover until the mid-50's. Monster movies became passé after the war ended, with film-noir taking over as the sole provider for dark, moody films (making for a lengthy list of borderline mentions). Remnants of the recent success allow one to scrounge up some kind of list, but horror is effectively in hiding. I took a few liberties again when making this list, but only to an extent.
Notable Films sometimes labelled as horror:
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Nightmare Alley, Kiss of Death, The Two Mrs. Carrolls, Possessed, Lured, Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome
Notable Films that didn't make the cut:
The Execrable Fate of Guillemette Babin, Gas House Kids in Hollywood, The Headless Woman
