Mercy Thompson Books from Patricia Briggs - wishing for a screen adaption. My ideas.

by LunaMercy | created - 13 Nov 2013 | updated - 12 Nov 2015 | Public

This List is work in progress and based on my personal ideas how I could see an adaption of these books, as a fan. For actual news please check out Patricia Briggs homepage. As far as I know the project is on hold for quite some years now.

Actors I would pick for an adaption of Mercy Thompson from Patricia Briggs. The most difficult roles to cast imo are Adam Hauptman and Bran, if you want to stay true to the books. Sam is a more complexe character than Adam. So for Adam you need an actor who plays clean cut character but who can be more apealing to the audience than many layered Sam. For Brand you need to find a 17 year old who at first glimps does look like a 17 year old but when required outdominates all the other and older Alphas. He needs to be able to play underlying power.

Imo two formats make sense for these books, either as Movie on the big screen (Superheros are dominating so this might be a nice alternative Genre) or Cable TV show if the market is not saturated already. A Network TV Show imo can not stay close to the source material due their need for long seasons. The books have a fast paced plot, so I would prefer a 10-13 episodes season.

Still looking for an actress with Native American ethnicity for Mercy. I am open for suggestions. Michelle Rodriguez was originally first on my list, Jessica Alba second. But I have drawn back from them.

Mhhm of course in the books most are much younger then my first choices. Going with a younger cast I could at some point see Robbie Amell as Adam, if he is willing to do a military type (remember he could not picture himself as controlled Oliver on Arrow) but seeing his FIRESTORM performance as Victor Garber convinced me.... Adam or Sam, Luke Evans really can do both. He is also a great singer and comes from Wales. So he would be natural Sam. But I can also see him as Adam, he could bring a much more complex Adam to screen. If there would be a new interpration of these characters, like switching their backgrounds, I'd love to see Luke Evans as Adam with Sams background.
