This shows where I could see the franchise realistically going should the Justice League movie be successful (which it would be if it happened the way I envision it).
Green Lantern summons the Justice League when he senses a great fear from the Guardians over a prophecy in the book of Oa that they call "Blackest Night".
A mysterious necromancer begins to awaken the dead on a day in the metahuman community for remembering metahumans and their allies who have perished. This necromancer, called the Black Hand and Nekron, the lord of death himself, soon lead an army of familiar corpses against the remaining heroes of earth.

He is overtaken by the Black Lantern Corps rings and becomes a member of the Black Lantern Corps as a zombie. He is nearly rescued when the orange ring of greed almost chooses him but due to his heroics, it ends up attaching itself to Lex Luthor instead. Furthermore, the Yellow Ring of Fear is also attracted to him due to his ability to instill fear in his enemies, but ends up finding The Scarecrow, an insane villain who we see Batman lock away in the beginning of this film in Arkham Asylum, who is obsessed with fear.
