FANCAST: The Batman

Bruce Wayne/The Batman: A billionaire industrialist playboy, Bruce Wayne witnessed his parents being brutally murdered in front of him as a child. Since that fateful night, he has been driven to bring justice to Gotham City, so he creates the secret identity of Batman to instill hope in the people.

Movies such as Munich (2005) are prime examples of how good an actor Eric Bana is. He had a chance to play a superhero in Ang Lee's Hulk from 2003, and even though his performance was good, it was wasted on such a crappy movie.

Bana's certainly got that play boyish look and that may just be because he resembles Christian Bale a whole lot, but he's also good at going darker and would be make a great Batman, in my eyes atleast.

Dick Grayson/Robin/Nightwing?: Dick Grayson was the youngest member of a family of acrobats known as the Flying Graysons. Dick's idyllic life was shattered when mobster Tony Zucco sabotaged their act and his family fell to their deaths. Dick was taken in by Bruce, who adopted him and decided to train him as his crime-fighting partner Robin.

Yet another fan favourite, I have to say I'm not too familiar with Lerman's work but from what I've seen he's definitely talented, and he also just kind of naturally fits into the role.

Barbara Gordon/Batgirl/Oracle?: Barbara Gordon is the only daughter of police commissioner James Gordon, Batman's only ally in Gotham. After Batman saves her life, Barbara becomes obsessed with him, eventually deducing his secret identity and creating the identity of Batgirl for herself.

Emma Stone is no stranger to comic book (or atleast comic book-esque) films, she is very beautiful, has red hair and is a great actress. She'd make a perfect Batgirl, able to pull off the shy and quiet Barbara Gordon (that I'd imagine for this film) as well as the sassy and all round kick ass Batgirl.

Alfred Pennyworth: Alfred Pennyworth is the English butler of Bruce Wayne, and before that he served Bruce's parents. After their murder, Alfred raised Bruce like he was his own son, until one day Bruce left to travel the world. When he returned to Gotham several years later, he informed Alfred of his plan to become the Batman, and Alfred continued to serve as his loyal and faithful assistant.

Rush is just a great actor all round and has already worked with Bana on Munich. He also lent his voice to the awful 2009 Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie, and like Bana, he once again felt wasted but it certainly showed that he's great at the kind of mentor aspect of Alfred. He just sort of fits the role well. So does John Hurt, a popular fan choice, but I wanted my list to be a little more original.

Commissioner James Gordon: James Gordon was, for a time, the only honest cop in Gotham City. He refused to let injustice prevail and he fought on, rising through the ranks from a lowly sergeant to becoming the commissioner. Although he at first questions Batman's vigilante antics, he soon comes to see that they are both fighting for the same side, and become the closest of allies, being one of the few people Batman could call a friend.

So much for the originality! Cranston is a fan favourite to play Gordon, having also voiced him in the Batman: Year One animated movie. Cranston not only has the voice, but the right look as well. He's a terrific actor and would make for an equally terrific Gordon.

Not only is she absolutely gorgeous, but she can act too. She'd be perfect for Vicki Vale, Batman's love interest who would probably die tragically as a way to bring Batman to his darkest point, as well as make way for Catwoman later on. Hendricks is a fantastic actress and a stunning woman, so there's no doubt that she could absolutely pull this off.

Lucius Fox

Williams appeared in the small role of Harvey Dent in Tim Burton's 1989 film, but when Two-Face appeared as a villain in 1995, he was played by Tommy Lee Jones.

Williams is a terrificly charismatic actor and would do wonders as Fox, giving a great follow-up to Morgan Freeman.

The Joker

Again, I went with a popular choice because it's hard to find anybody who fits the role better. I know that technically Heath Ledger didn't fit the role at all and totally knocked it out of the park, but I'm not good at that sort of casting. I'd probably choose someone horrible to play the Joker, like Channing Tatum. OK, maybe not that bad, but you get the idea.

Glover's a great actor and, as I said, fits the Joker bill extremely well.

Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn

Amanda is another beautiful yet totally insane up and coming star, which fits the Harley Quinn role nicely. I can easily picture her as both the reserved Harleen Quinzel and the feisty, unpredictable Harley Quinn.

Selina Kyle/Catwoman

Another talent beauty, Wilde would be great as the saucy but sinister Catwoman. Plus, she'd look great in a skin-tight black leather catsuit, regardless of whether on to she turned in a decent performance (although I doubt that she would not).

Edward Nygma/The Riddler

Michael C. Hall is a wonderful actor and is great as Dexter on, well, Dexter. Although the Riddler, when stripped to basics, doesn't seem too Dexter, I have no problem seeing Hall in this role, nor do I have a problem seeing him nailing it.

Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin

Yet more fan service, Hoffman is great at playing creepy villains (a personal favourite of mine being MI:III) as well as looking perfect for the part. Not much more to say here. Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin. It speaks for itself.

Bane

Ferrigno is best known for playing the Hulk (a part also played by Eric Bana) so Bane would be no problem to him. Maybe I'd have his voice dubbed over, but I'd say he could pull it off. I also can't think of anyone to do the voice right now.

Pamela Isley/Poison Ivy

Beautiful, seductive, deadly. These attributes best describe Poison Ivy, and Johansson ticks every one of these boxes and then some.

Mr. Freeze

Like many others on this list, Patrick Stewart is no stranger to comic book movies. Stewart has a fantastic voice, mixed up with some freaky Darth Vader robotics would really make for a menacing and memorable performance. Not to mention he actually looks a bit like the Freeze I'm imagining.

Harvey "Two-Face" Dent: Harvey Dent was the District Attorney who was going to change Gotham for the better. Or at least that was the plan until he crossed ruthless mob boss Sal Maroni. Hoping to prove a point, Maroni threw acid at Harvey's face, leaving him permanently scarred, both physically and mentally. After seeing the damage that had been done, Harvey lost the battle with his inner demons and fully embraced the rageing, vengeful personality of Two-Face.

Fassbender has bee hailed by many as an amazing actor and I'm not ready to disagree. He'd be great as playing Batman's friend and ally, Harvey Dent, before some horrible accident horribly burns half of his face and turns into an intense, raving psychotic.

Ra's al Ghul: The Middle Eastern leader of the League of Shadows, a secretive gang of ninja assassins, Ra's al Ghul's name translates to "The Demon's Head." Although his plots often involve the murder of countless innocents, he always believes that he is in it for the greater good.

For Ra's I always imagine someone who is able to orchestrate mass genocide all while claiming it's honourable and for the greater good. For that I would pick Vosloo.

Talia al Ghul: Ra's beautiful and seductive daughter Talia al Ghul falls helplessly in love with Batman, trapping her in the crossfire between he and her father.

First of all browny points for being a Bond girl, but beyond that she really is great at playing badass femme fatales and has the right look for Talia.

I've seen Fox cast in a few Batman roles, but never Zsasz. I thought of this based on his performance in Alex Cross as a psychotic killer.

Mayor Hamilton Hill

Like Billy Dee Williams, I think it would be a great homage to the original Tim Burton films to have Keaton back, and I think he'd be great as Hill.

Holly Robinson

Director

Based primarily on his work on Skyfall, but he also has experience with comic book films from Road to Perdition. Plus he's a kick ass action director who can also do great characters.

Composer

He always does great moody pieces which are a perfect fit for Batman.
