Joint Favourite Episode to Date along with Watchers on the Wall
Both Blackwater and Watchers are very even in terms of overall structure and pacing and they are both epic but Blackwater has the advantage of having better character moments than Watchers and that is not to take away from Watchers as that episode was awesome from start to finish but scenes such as Tyrion's Speech and Cersei/Sansa's sequence were more compelling to watch in terms of acting and character moments. Also I consider the "Wildfire" scene quite possibly the most stunning moment of the show. - DirectorDavid BenioffD.B. Book purists may disagree [I count myself a book reader but I haven't read all the novels I am currently reading Book 3 A Storm of Swords which season 3 and mostly 4 are based on and I understand that you need to fill in the gaps as there isn't much material left for ASOS and Jon's big scenes happen later on so the whole subplot with Craster's Keep makes sense as it's stalling time but also doing what Jon would do if he got the opportunity to] but I loved almost every single scene in this episode and loved the made up material at Craster's Keep and I loved the ending even though it may or may not be a spoiler for Book 6 Winds of Winter. - DirectorMichelle MacLarenStarsNikolaj Coster-WaldauLena HeadeyEmilia ClarkeTommen is crowned King of the Seven Kingdoms. Joint Favourite Episode to date along with Blackwater
Like I said with Blackwater I preferred the overall performances and character moments in that episode and the wildfire scene as an individual set piece but I'll admit the action wasn't as spectacular as it could have been but considering the budget it was impressive however that being said this was the superior episode in terms of action set pieces and overall directing and was a true epic Lord of the Rings style and while Blackwater had really just wildfire as a standout set piece this had a few moments such as almost any scene involving giants and mammoths including the shot of the giant firing a large arrow over the wall along with a nights watch brother as well also the one take action scene is extremely breathtaking and the scythe sequence was epic. Performance wise big props to John Bradley [Samwell Tarly] who overall carried this episode in terms of acting he was fantastic also Kit Harrington [Jon Snow] was pretty great and impressive with a sword in the battle scenes as well as Owen Teale [Alisser Thorne] who was fantastic but the standout in 1 particular scene was Peter Vaughan as Maester Aemon when he was talking to Sam about a girl he once loved as it was a sad scene and that was thanks to Peter Vaughan's wonderful performance. Rose Leslie [Ygritte] deserves credit as well for her death scene as she was fantastic and overall everyone had effective acting in this episode there was no bad performance everyone was exceptional and on point with their characters. - DirectorAlex GravesStarsPeter DinklageNikolaj Coster-WaldauLena HeadeyJon makes an important decision. Daenerys experiences new consequences. Brienne and Podrick have an unexpected encounter. Bran achieves a goal, while Tyrion makes an important discovery.Season 4, Episode 10
While I was a little disappointed that they omitted Tysha from Tyrion's storyline and a certain character didn't appear, this was a fantastic episode as there was enough awesome moments to overlook the minor disappointments.
