Chloe Bennet is an American actress and singer. She is best known for ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013).
Bennet was born Chloe Wang in Chicago, Illinois. Her father is Han Chinese and her mother is Caucasian American.
At 15, she moved to China to pursue a singing career under her birth name, Chloe Wang. While in China, Bennet lived with her paternal grandmother in Beijing, and studied Mandarin. She performed as a singer and then moved to Los Angeles, California. Her first on-screen appearance was as a host for the short-lived TeenNick summer dance series The Nightlife.
While pursuing an acting career in Hollywood, she changed her professional name to "Chloe Bennet", after having trouble booking gigs with her last name. Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents, Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. She moved to Oxfordshire when she was five, where she attended the Dragon School. From the age of six, Emma knew that she wanted to be an actress and, for a number of years, she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part-time theatre school where she studied singing, dancing and acting. By the age of ten, she had performed and taken the lead in various Stagecoach productions and school plays.
In 1999, casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001), the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. After eight consistent auditions, producer David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, that they had been cast for the roles of the three leads, Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. The film broke records for opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Critics praised the film and the performances of the three leading young actors. The highly distributed British newspaper, 'The Daily Telegraph', called her performance "admirable". A rising Latina from Miami who has made a career in modeling, TV commercials and as an actress - Catalina Rodriguez was born in Medellin, Colombia, her family is that of Spaniard and German descent. At three years old her family relocated to Miami, Florida in search of the American Dream where she was raised along with her older sister, Liliana. As the daughter of Guillermo, a freelance camera man and Maria, a sales rep, Catalina began her life in show business at the young age of five as a cast member in the HIT-TV children's comedy show "Caramelo y Galletita." At 8 years of age she participated in her first pageant and by the time she was 18 years old she had won three major titles, reached the semi-finals in Miss World Colombia and was the runner-up in Teen Magazine's Model Search. These achievements, however, were only a stepping stone into her modeling career, where she modeled for several brands, including BodyGlove and Urban clothing companies, before even attending college.
Determined to go beyond modeling and into her true passion of acting Catalina attended a prestigious magnet program at the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Center (P.A.V.A.C.) where she dedicated all four years of high school to cultivating and honing her skills in the visual and performing arts. There, she performed in various productions, including Miss Sarah Brown in "Guys and Dolls", Maria in "West Side Story" and "Much A Do About Nothing" in Disney's Pleasure Island, among many others.
She then attended the University of Miami where she double majored in Film & Television as well as Theater. Expanding her knowledge beyond acting, she also discovered a talent behind the scenes as a television and video editor; a skill that would help her pay for college by landing part time jobs as a news editor with the local affiliate of NBC- WTVJ channel 6 - as well as other freelance projects. Throughout
After graduating college, Catalina knew that it was time to take her acting career to the next level and made one of the hardest decisions she has ever had to make. Leaving behind her strong family support system and several television and commercial opportunities in Miami, she moved across the country to the west coast on her own.
Today, after four years of living in Los Angeles, Catalina still has no regrets and realizes that no matter how difficult, she has made the best decision in order to further her career. Throughout her journey, her family has remained close and supportive, reminding her everyday that sometimes in order to achieve big dreams and rewards you need to take big risks and make difficult sacrifices - like leaving everything you have ever known behind...including the ones you love.
Throughout her years in Los Angeles Catalina has been represented in the Theatrical division by Steven Neibert at Imperium 7 Talent Agency. Imperium 7 also represents her in the Voice Over division. Commercially she is represented by MKS and Associates. She is also represented by management company McGowan Management. She is part of both unions the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television Radio Artists (AFTRA).
In 2006, Catalina made her film debut in the independent film, "SPIN," where she plays one of the lead roles, Dolores Rosas. "starring Shalim Ortiz (son of Charitin) as well as Fernando Carillo. A story of Latinos striving to attain the American Dream within the sexy Latin Music world of Miami. Infused with sex, passion and betrayal. The film targets a crossover English speaking audience with its fast paced, music and dance driven bitter-sweet drama set in the world of the beautiful, the wealthy and the self made Miami Latino music crowd. This English-language film will attract a Spanish and English speaking audience, both in the U.S and Internationally." The movie premiered in 2007 in selected movie theaters in major cities across the US and can be purchased or viewed at any Blockbuster nationwide.
Catalina continues to study and broaden her skills, methods, techniques and has attended several acting schools in the city such as; Margie Habor, Lesly Kahn, The Beverly Hills Playhouse and Upright Citizen Brigade Theatre.
In July of 2007 Catalina was chosen to be part of Disney /ABC's Television 20th Actors Showcase supporting and creating opportunities for diverse talent, featuring promising upcoming actors. Twelve actors were selected from among more than 600 candidates who submitted their resumes and were auditioned (Catalina being one of them). A three month theatrical preparation is designed for these actors. Casting directors, talent agents and other industry professionals viewed a series of one-act vignettes performed by the actors. The showcase took place at the El Portal Theatre Center for the Performing Arts, on November 14th..
Another great moment for Catalina was when she appeared in a recurring role of 32 episodes on My Network TV series drama, "Watch Over Me," where she played the cunning and wicked temptress, Sasha Hansu.
Most recently we saw her starring in the 3rd season of the episodic thriller, "Dexter" "The Lion Sleeps tonight".
She also shot the feature film "April Fools" and played the role of Salina; the caregiver of an autistic boy.
Her most recent project was the film "Pimp Bullies", directed by Alfonso Rodriguez and shot in the Island of Dominican Republic. Here Catalina portrays the character of Isabel Rodriguez, the lead. A woman but a mother first who sacrifices her life for her son and family and becomes a victim of abuse, drugs and prostitution. Starring Ving Rhames, Adrian Belanni, Hemky Madera, Lizbeth Santos.
Her latest project was a film written and directed by Asher Levin. "Cougar's Inc.", a comedy drama, think 16 Candles meets The Graduate. Ashley Spencer Taylor Villegas Argota-Torres (or as she refers to as "the longest name ever") started acting at five years old. She appeared in multiple television shows including "The Division", "MAD TV", "The Wayne Brady Show", and "The Shield". At only 10 years old, she became the youngest performer ever to win five times in a row at "Amateur Night at the Apollo", which led to her becoming a Star of Tomorrow at "Showtime At The Apollo". At 11 years old, she toured in Disney's hit Broadway musical, "The Lion King", as Young Nala. She was also a semi-finalist on the Arsenio Hall hosted "Star Search" in 2003, where Ben Stein commented, "This girl has the best stage presence out of any young performer I've ever seen."
Shortly after guest starring on Nickelodeon's "iCarly", Ashley starred as the loyal, quirky, fun-loving assistant, Lulu, on the hit Nickelodeon show "True Jackson, VP". The show ran for three seasons. Directly after filming that show, she booked her second starring role in another Nickelodeon show where she played Kelly in "Bucket and Skinner's Epic Adventures". After filming, she briefly attended her dream school, New York University, before returning to Los Angeles for work. As soon as she came home, Ashley worked on her debut album with songwriter Rebekah White. Her debut single, Limitless, is available on all digital platforms.
Ashley was also fortunate enough to return to her first love, musical theater, in the Lythgoe Family musical production of "Aladdin and His Winter Wish" as Princess Jasmine alongside Ben Vereen and Bruce Vilanch. After that, she filmed a recurring role on Disney XD's number one show, "Lab Rats", where she played the evil bionic soldier, S-1. Her Disney Channel Original Movie, "How To Build A Better Boy", premiered shortly after that to 4.6 million viewers, and became the number one event on the Watch Disney Channel App, with one million people tuning in before the premiere.
After shooting small spots on Freeform's "Chasing Life" and NBC's pilot "Cabot College", produced by Tina Fey, Ashley recurred on Freeform's "The Fosters" as Lou, the lead singer of the band Someone's Little Sister. Due to the amount of fans asking for the music they heard Ashley performing in multiple episodes, Freeform surprised fans (and Ashley!) by releasing a "Someone's Little Sister EP", which included the four songs she sang on the show in her first season. The EP shot to number 18 on the iTunes Alternative chart and broke the Top 100 on the iTunes overall chart.
In between filming more television shows (such as Disney's "Girl Meets World", a series regular role as Abigail on "Liberty Crossing") and films (Sony Pictures "The Cover Versions" as Amber), Ashley has starred in many live stage productions in Los Angeles. For four years, she originated and played the role of Juliet in the Bradley Bredeweg/Rockwell Table and Stage production of "Romeo & Juliet: Love Is A Battlefield" (now known as "Invincible"), a modern take on the classic story of Romeo & Juliet, set to the epic anthems of Pat Benatar. She has also starred in multiple productions at Rockwell Table and Stage in their "Unauthorized Musical Parody" series, playing Regina George in "UMPO: Mean Girls", Allison in "UMPO: Hocus Pocus", Becca in "UMPO: Bridesmaids", Biana Stratford in "UMPO: 10 Things I Hate About You", and Cher Horowitz in "UMPO: Clueless".
In 2019, Ashley and her husband, Mick, started Mismo Productions and released their podcast, also named "Mismo". They interview creatives about their day to day lives in the business to show everyone that no matter where someone is in their careers, we are all uniquely the same-- we're all Mismo. The podcast is has more than 16,000 listens. Mismo Productions also released their first short film, "The Last Flight", a parody of the Michael Jordan documentary, "The Last Dance". It was directed, produced, and edited by Ashley and written by, produced by, and starring Mick. More information about Mismo can be found here.
