- DirectorAdam McKayStarsChristian BaleSteve CarellRyan GoslingIn 2006-2007 a group of investors bet against the United States mortgage market. In their research, they discover how flawed and corrupt the market is.Based on Michael Lewis’ best-selling book of the same name. I kept hearing the rave reviews for this but was reluctant due to the dry subject matter. I'm not what you might call a financial guru. Nonetheless I gave it a shot, and was blown away. The writing, the pacing, the performances were outstanding. The best parts however, were the handful of random celebrity cameos by Margot Robbie (drinking champagne in a bubble bath), chef Anthony Bourdain, and a poker-playing Selena Gomez. In brilliant fashion, the filmmakers used these celebrities to humorously explain the dreadfully bewildering 2008 sub-prime mortgage collapse in simplified fashion. A must see!
- DirectorCary Joji FukunagaStarsAbraham AttahEmmanuel AffadziRicky AdelayitorA drama based on the experiences of Agu, a child soldier fighting in the civil war of an unnamed African country.A drama based on the experiences of Agu (played by the phenomenal Abraham Attah), a child soldier fighting in the civil war of an unnamed African country. Idris Elba also gives a fantastic performance as both warlord and Agu's captor/mentor.
- DirectorDamien ChazelleStarsMiles TellerJ.K. SimmonsMelissa BenoistA promising young drummer enrolls at a cut-throat music conservatory where his dreams of greatness are mentored by an instructor who will stop at nothing to realize a student's potential. An outstanding performance by J.K. Simmons, and Miles Teller's best performance that I'm aware of. I'm not the world's greatest jazz fan but that didn't matter here.
- DirectorBennett MillerStarsSteve CarellChanning TatumMark RuffaloU.S. Olympic wrestling champions and brothers Mark Schultz and Dave Schultz join "Team Foxcatcher", led by eccentric multi-millionaire John du Pont, as they train for the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea, but John's self-destructive behavior threatens to consume them all.Highly recommended. Outstanding job by Steve Carell, Mark Ruffalo and Channing Tatum. You don't have to be a sports or wrestling fan to appreciate it.
- DirectorTom McCarthyStarsMark RuffaloMichael KeatonRachel McAdamsThe true story of how the Boston Globe uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core.Based on a series of stories by The Boston Globe's "Spotlight" investigative team that earned them the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.
- DirectorSean DurkinStarsElizabeth OlsenSarah PaulsonJohn HawkesHaunted by painful memories and increasing paranoia, a damaged woman struggles to re-assimilate with her family after fleeing an abusive cult.Unsettling and dare I say mood-driven? I liked the controversial ending. It leaves some room for interpretation and doesn't pander to the audience's need for closure. Oh and Elizabeth Olsen is *sigh* so dreamy.
- DirectorColin TrevorrowStarsAubrey PlazaMark DuplassJake JohnsonThree magazine employees head out on an assignment to interview a guy who placed a classified advertisement seeking a companion for time travel.I feel as if you either like Aubrey Plaza or you don't and if you don't we cannot be friends
- DirectorJonathan GlazerStarsScarlett JohanssonJeremy McWilliamsLynsey Taylor MackayA mysterious young woman seduces lonely men in the evening hours in Scotland. However, events lead her to begin a process of self-discovery.A creepy but intriguing film that ask, 'What if Scarlett Johansson were an alien posing as a human who feeds on human males?' I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE!!!

When they both fall for the same street artist, the friends find their connection tested for the first time.I'm not even going to lie. Hugh Glass. - DirectorDavid AyerStarsWill SmithJared LetoMargot RobbieA secret government agency recruits some of the most dangerous incarcerated super-villains to form a defensive task force. Their first mission: save the world from the apocalypse.
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsBen AffleckHenry CavillAmy AdamsBatman is manipulated by Lex Luthor to fear Superman. Superman´s existence is meanwhile dividing the world and he is framed for murder during an international crisis. The heroes clash and force the neutral Wonder Woman to reemerge.I didn't feel this was as bad as the critics treated it, though it was not without flaws. It could've spared us the lengthy origin story for Batman, which all we've seen before.
- DirectorAntoine FuquaStarsDenzel WashingtonMarton CsokasChloë Grace MoretzA man who believes he has put his mysterious past behind him cannot stand idly by when he meets a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters.A good tribute to the classic 80's tv crime series.

Shocked by the discovery of this unknown talent, he forms a band in the hope of finding some catharsis.William H. Macy's directorial-debut. Definitely worth watching. I found 'the twist' a little less than convincing. I even played back the beginning for clues but didn't really find any that satisfied me. Nonetheless, an enjoyable film.
- DirectorRon HowardStarsChris HemsworthCillian MurphyBrendan GleesonA recounting of a New England whaling ship's sinking by a giant whale in 1820, an experience that later inspired the great novel Moby-Dick.Dramatization of the 1820 attack on the New England whaling ship Essex, by an unusually large and vengeful whale. - DirectorLasse HallströmStarsEwan McGregorEmily BluntAmr WakedA fisheries expert is approached by a consultant to help realize a sheik's vision of bringing the sport of fly-fishing to the desert and embarks on an upstream journey of faith and fish to prove the impossible possible. You won't see many romantic comedies on my lists, but that's essentially what this is. The humor is largely subtle (no slapstick) and while the plot might not be believable, I felt the performances were.
