- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHeath LedgerAaron EckhartWhen the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice.I found the whole boat dillema to be disturbing... -
I said that i also found it disconcerting that only one person out of all the people on both boats stepped up to do what i considered to be the right thing (throw the button out the window so no one could push it).
-talked about the train dillema (the philosophical thing over would you let the train derail and 200 people die by not doing anything, or would you flip a switch to re-route it and save the ppl on the train but it would kill some innocent pedestrians.) (Patrick and I would flip the switch, Terry wouldn't.) (Terry mentioned the variable that the people who rode the train did it volitionally and there was always a risk that something could go wrong and they rode the train anyway)
-talked about the dillema of mother giving birth and only one of the two can live, who should live. (i think all of us agreed that the mother should live)
-talked about the joker calling everyone else a schemer while he just turns other peoples schemes on their heads. that he was lying, that he was a schemer too- he planned all those intricate bombing plans. (my thoughts now: not only that, he out-schemed everyone else)
-talked about should we make a distinction between citizens and residents of a country. where citizens do service and also have more of a vote for things.
my thoughts about the schemer thing...
tho he DID say that other people like to control things and he just liked to turn those plans on their own head, show them that they CANT control things by throwing their plans in their own faces. which he DID do. that with a little fear and panic of the unexpected, people start to take massive action and the joker used that massive action to set up his plan. that the people escaping on the ferries werent actually ESCAPING anything, they were put right into the mess. the joker was counting on panic of the people and counting on it for them to take the drastic measures. if they didnt, his whole plan wouldnt have worked. - DirectorRichard LinklaterStarsKeanu ReevesWinona RyderRobert Downey Jr.An undercover cop in a not-too-distant future becomes involved with a dangerous new drug and begins to lose his own identity as a result.
