01: Lucha Libre! Push past the anti-Trump speculation. Wrestler's featured worked the US circuit despite the doc makers fears. Follows Fenix desire to relocate his family to the US and tracks 2 rising stars who started out wrestling at the traffic lights. Resulting in the best wrestling sequences of the episode. Rey Mysterio, Konan and Pentagon also cameo.
-2019 SBS - StarsErica Reid HarrisonDuff GoldmanGeoffry ManthorneChef and owner of Charm City Cakes in Baltimore, Maryland, Duff Goldman, and his crew of decorators attempt to create amazing and awe-inspiring cakes for their clients each week. The usual level of over the top emotional responses expected in modern reality TV are (unfortunately) vividly captured here. However the energy and skill of this team of bakers and cake decorators holds interest well enough.

- StarsAdam ConoverAdam LustickEmily AxfordIconoclastic Adam Conover from CollegeHumor turns life as we know it on its ear by showing us how unnecessary, and sometimes horrible, things we think we know to be real and true really are.An educational hipster show, highly cynical of things assumed to be facts. Funny and interesting even if some of the viewpoints are a bit simple. Though some episodes are so PC they become fallacious.

OVER IT
13) Reality TV & Awards Shows - weak episode. Notes that awards ceremonies are heavily influenced by spending on wooing the judging members. That the red carpet is a marketing juggernaut for selling product and that reality TV is mostly scripted. Claims this is ok as long as the people tuning in know what is and isn't legit - but doesn't tackle that the majority don't. Quotes Slate to argue that the rating system for movies is arbitrary and more concerned with sex (especially non-heterosexual sex) than violence. It's a very one sided discussion, getting caught up in seeking out homophobia and racism, rather than considering the value of a consistent (even if biased) rating system is useful for viewers in determining whether they or their children wish to see a film.
12) Death - a more philosophical episode. Besides the facts of funerals are expensive, embalming processes are no better than refrigeration for one and done viewings and coffins are unnecessary the focus is more esoteric. About preparing for death, letting loved one's know what to do and accepting that death will come to all of us. Adam pushes the atheist conception that death is the end but the show itself has Emily walking around as a ghost and concludes with him being afraid of death.
11) Nutrition - covers the Linus Vit C myth, the processing in milk and orange juice and the construction of fad diets. Adam also demonstrates that 'science' journals will take cash for publication of very poor research, including chocolate results in weight loss and even the show script! So just listen to your doctor, your body and exercise at least a bit.
10) Sex - Circumcision (supposedly a means by Kellogg to reduce masturbation rates - although they do acknowledge it's religious connection), Hymen (not always broken during sex, not indicative (all the time) of virginity and definitely not covering the vagina) and Herpes (common, minor side effects). However they seriously downplay the evidence counter their point (minor health benefits for circumcision, hymen remaining intact at least 50% of the time for virgins and sexual freedom's contribution to mental issues and the like) and seem to consider chicken pox the same as genital herpes - which is dishonest. Like episode 9 it suffers from clear ideological leanings.
9) Summer - probably the weakest of the series, because of the incredibly broad strokes. Begins by blaming long school breaks, tv and violent neighborhoods for reduced education of low-income earners. Then pushes a series of feminist agenda arguments regarding sexism in toys, video games and clothing. Going on to praise Animal Crossing (a time and money consuming beast). The section on Copy Right and the changes to releasing creative commons resulting in loss of current and generated intellectual property is interesting.
8) Work - claims the 5 day 40 hr work week was promoted by Henry Ford for the purposes of making sure his employees had sufficient money and free time to spend it to buy his products. And that during that period the powers that be expected the average worker to be working only 4 days by out time period. Also completely misrepresents the so-called earnings gap between gender and minorities (ignoring the fact that different job ought to see different wages) but argues for the sharing of salary details among workers (to improve knowledge and bargaining power) and the current conditions of most internships and freelance jobs in the US being illegal.
7) Voting - interesting attempt at explaining simply the very complicated American process.
6) Hygiene - Lysterine (halitosis scare campaign, floor cleaning product), Showers (once a week, soap sparingly), Flushable Wipes (fatbergs, unnecessary), Running Clean Water (many don't have)
5) Restaurants - Tipping (encourages poor pay and bribery), Fish (false labeling, over fishing, dying farmed salmon pink)
4) Forensics - Polygraph (unreliable, beaten many times, wrongly determined many times), Fingerprints (no evidence unique, human error and bias), Witness Testimony (fallible/ changing memories, leading questions), Bite Marks/ Hair Analysis (unreliable, confused with animals), DNA (mostly good, developed science)
3) Cars - Roads (bigger roads, lead to more cars), Dealers (anti-competitive legislation, lack of choice, dependency of government), Public Transportation and Walking Spaces
2) Security - Security Theater (airports, credit card signings, tamper proof seals - the drugs are more dangerous), Credit Card Fraud (banks tend to just reimburse anyway)
1) Giving - Engagement Rings (diamonds aren't rare, they're overpriced and the mandatory giving of rings is a clever marketing campaign), Needy (bad idea - canned food, second hand clothing, buy one give one free models, good idea - cash, no expiry, most versatile, no shipping or sorting cost), Blood (expiry date means need a consistent blood flow not a response to one off events).

01: A reporter looking to move up from Agony Aunt 'helps' the new detective (Laurence) in town solve a series of murders at an experimental criminal psychiatric facility. The earnest reporter contrasts well with the rough-housing rogue detective.- 2018 SBS
- CreatorChristopher MarkusStephen McFeelyStarsHayley AtwellJames D'ArcyEnver GjokajIn 1946, Peggy Carter is relegated to secretarial duties in the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR). When Howard Stark is accused of treason, he secretly recruits Peggy to clear his name with the help of his butler, Edwin Jarvis.----Season 2
10) Team Carter beats Whitney to the punch, successfully draining her of the ZM and closing the rift. Leaving Whitney quite the nut case to the disappointment of her Mafia lover Manfredi. Wilkes takes a job with Stark and Carter finds reason to stay in LA longer (a solid butler in Jarvis and an old love in Souza). Jack is killed in the closer and the blackmail file on Carter is stolen.
9) Whitney takes Wilkes who has become a time-bomb of ZM to an off-grid waste disposal factory. Carter's attempted rescue operation goes awry due to Jack trying to kill Vernon and Whitney. The gamma bomb is stopped but Wilkes' ruptures ZM on Whitney.
8) Anya awakens but the knowledge that she will be sterile makes Jarvis reckless, though his revenge is ineffective. Wilkes chooses to side with Whitney to recreate the rift using the uranium rods (recovery of which sees Jack join Carter). A machine designed by Stark closes the rift and Whitney captures Jarvis and Carter to convince Wilkes to help her out.
7) Whitney's council remove Souza of his post, capture temporarily corporeal Wilkes and shoot Anya. All aimed at uncovering the missing uranium rods to recreate the ZM experiment.
6) Running out of options, Carter and crew breakout Dottie to obtain a sample of ZM from Whitney, in order to stop Wilkes' fluctuations. The primary objective is completed but Dotty goes rogue. Sending Jack after Carter and putting Dottie in the hands of Whitney, whose recently re-ordered the board and removed her husband.
5) Unsure of who to trust, Carter assembles an odd squad of 'lesser' members of the SSR. Souza, Jarvis and Carter are joined by telephone lady Rose (quite the fighter) and an unlikable scientist itching for field work, Samberley. The unorthodox approach pays off when they successfully stop Whitney from gaining access to nuclear material. Carter is injured and Wilkes once again becomes invisible.
4) Whitney reveals herself to be a brilliant scientist, con-woman and vicious killer. Using her new found ability to subsume the hit-man Carter and co manage to flip. Their attempt to raid the arena club is derailed by shady government bureaucracy.
3) Whitney's ZM scar grows after she subsumes a man by touching him. The hitman she sends for Carter fails. She tips jack off the Arena Club is rigging the election for Calvin. Carter, Jarvis, Souza and Stark receive unexpected help in solving the ZM puzzle from Wilkes now stuck in another dimension.
2) Iodine Industries is being scrubbed by a shadowy cabal with pins like Dottie tried to steal. Carter convinces Wilkes to steal the Zero Matter from the facility. But when Whitney intervenes, the explosion that follows causes Wilkes disappear. Whitney now has a ZM scar, Carter is grieving the loss of Wilkes and Souza is unable to propose to Anya.
1) The SSSR capture Dottie during a heist. Before Carter can turn her, Chief Jack sends her to LA to help Souza with a radioactive frozen body in a lake. The FBI takes Dottie away from Jack before he can get anywhere. Carter, Souza (now with nurse Violet) and Jarvis (who is frightfully bored with Stark off making pictures) join local police on an investigation spanning murderous senator's wives (Calvin Chadwick & Whitney Frost), contagious frozen bodies and a charming but tricky physicist (Wilkes). Jarvis' wife (Anya) turns out to be mischievous and lively.
----Season 1
8) The Battle of Finau, where all the Russian soldiers died was caused by the psycho-gas against Stark's will creating his distrust of government. Stark returns to set things right but is caught by the Doctor and Dottie who set him up to repeat the tragedy. Until the combined work of Carter, Souza and Jarvis prevent it. Dottie escapes and the Doctor lands in prison with a senior leader of Hydra. Carter and Angie move into one of Stark's many residences. Souza love for Carter goes unrequited but she finally lets go of Steve Rogers, including destroying his blood.
7) Jarvis makes an ill advised attempt to get Carter out of custody by faking a signed confession from Stark. When Carter notices the Russian psych passing messages to Dotty she struggles to win back the trust of the SSR, even coming clean. Both Dottie and doctor escape with a gas that turns regular people into psychotic killers and leave the SSR with a Chief in bomb vest. He explodes convincing everyone that Carter is telling the truth.
6) Carter's time at the Griffith comes to an end when SSR agents storm the building to capture her. An acting performance by Angie would have let her escape but Dottie (receiving orders from the supposedly defected Russian psychiatrist) plants a kiss of sweet dreams on her. The Russian psychiatrist is mind-controlling men within the SSR, Dottie and Jarvis are in the wind and Carter has some serious explaining to do.
5) Dotty turns out to be a Russian agent for Leviathan who is every bit as cunning as violent. Trained in a ruthless girls institution she sleeps with one hand cuffed to the bed and rather than confront Carter directly gains access to her apartment to poke around. Carter makes herself useful to the SSR in a field mission to Russia with Cap's old crew where she learns the Russians are building a Stark weapon they probably stole the prints for and discovers bully Jack is no war hero. Souza discovers the mystery blonde at the club has bullet holes in the shoulder just like Carters.
4) Stark returns and convinces Carter to swap out one of his stolen inventions. They part ways when she discovers it's a vial of Roger's blood. Stan Lee makes a cameo and the boss of the SSR speaks to a Nazi leader on death row about a battle where men were torn to pieces before it started (which Stark took a plane to). Souza (cripple) is closing in on Carter. The Griffith residence has a new resident (Dotty), a ballet dancer and assassin who is poised to attack Carter.
3) The sign leads to the Heartbreak boat and the cache of stolen Stark weapons. Jarvis' causes Carter some work discomfort when questioned over the number-plate they found. He forged the signature of his superior to save his Jewish wife Anja and that 'treason' is used as leverage. Forcing Carter to intervene and lower her already diminished work reputation. SSR captain blames Stark for the hit on a key witness and an agent, even though he's still out of the country.
2) Waitress Angie tries to get Carter to move in as her neighbor but after the murder of her last room-mate she's not keen. Jarvis insists on accompanying her to track down the explosive milk truck from the factory. It goes boom with the murderous laryngectomy (Y scar) agent seemingly attached and the 'good' one dies in the exchange. He warns about Leviathan and tries to scribble a symbol in the dirt (likely Hydra).
The SSR continues to collect evidence that might link Carter to Stark's arsenal. Carter ends by taking Angie up on the apartment offer and begrudgingly accepting Jarvis' continued assistance. The episode is filled with period appropriate Captain America radio play vignettes which though initially cheesy are used to make sense of Carter's vigilante behavior. The technique works particularly well during an intercut fight sequence, contrasting the damsel in distress with the Agent in charge.
1) Following the events of Captain America in 1946, while Steve Rogers is frozen in the ocean, Agent Carter, despite being a war hero is relegated to menial duties at the SSR. When Howard Stark is accused of profiteering from the illegal sale of his weapons projects, he enlists her and his butler to find them.
Carter's an interesting character of contradiction; tough and athletic but very feminine (in presentation and emotional reaction). Pretending to be submissive but secretly something of a vigilante. She's ably assisted by Stark (not dissimilar to Tony Stark) and the Butler Jarvis (a younger Alfred Pennyworth with a loving devotion for his wife) who might just be playing her. The episode ends with the SSR finding evidence that will link to Carter and the blowing up of a rival factory.

OVER IT- 2017
6) Interesting tie-in with Agent Carter's Zero Matter story line. Wherein Rider's uncle Elias emerges as the controller of matter and the one responsible for ghosts and his nephews drive-by.
5) Rider has an episode during a prison job that reveals inmates to be Watch Dogs. Shield director goes public about being inhuman, only to be blackmailed by Simmons to avoid testing and his debate opposite.
4) Quake and Rider put their personal missions aside to join with Coulson's team in finding the Book that is responsible for the ghost infestation. Simmons has a few lies to pass regarding androids.
3) May requires a hard reboot to fix. Watch Dogs go international with new backers, using a series of EMP strikes to enable them to knock off inhumans.
2) Rider and Quake save Simmons and Mack from box-ghosts before heading out on the road again. May is restrained by the inhuman Director who is keeping Coulson out of the loop regarding Quake and May.
1) Despite orders, Agent Coulson and Mack are chasing Daisy (now Quake) who is chasing Ghost Rider. Cleanup team leader May is infected by the box Coulson finds. Fitz is helping an old friend hide a female robot and Simmons is trying to balance her friends interests with new security clearance and access to the Director.
----Season 3-------------------------------------------------------
22) The vision Daisy saw takes place. Lincoln after being badly wounded fries the controls and directs a Quinjet into space with both Hive and the warhead on board, killing them both but saving the planet. Daisy takes the loss hard and 6 months on is working as a vigilante running from SHIELD, meanwhile the doctor responsible for the primitive inhumans celebrates acquittal and the birth of Ada (perhaps an AI).
21) Hive is captured and placed in stasis thanks to intel Daisy provides from lock-up. However his escaped henchmen (a pyro and telekenetic) find a way to revive him and in so doing provide him with a missile alternative, a Quinjet courtesy of SHIELD. The episode ends with Daisy begging to be reunited with her former master.
20) General Talbot makes a long scheduled visit to SHIELD HQ due to a loose connection with the Sokovia Accords registry from Captain America 3: Civil War. During his time on base, Daisy hacks the system and seemingly helps Lincoln escape. When the Quinjet arrives though Lash emerges and very nearly ends Hive as well as his new inhuman Wolves. When Daisy intervenes, Lash cures her of the infection and sends her back to HQ and fulfilling his purpose is killed.
19) Two attempts to take out Hive fail (one scientific, one brute force) and when he calls down his own makers (Kree Hunters) and kills them in unarmed combat the situation looks very grim. When Daisy kills the other Kree (more easily than Hive's), Mack tries to get her to turn back. He nearly dies in the failed effort but at least he destroys the Kree blood vital to infecting the earth. When Daisy reveals her blood is partly Kree even that small victory is lost.
18) Ward/ Hive's infection spreads to Daisy and a handful of other inhumans - operating as a singular organism. They capture a doctor of human transcendence and intend to recreate the experiment the Kree performed to produce Hive many years ago. SHIELD take down Hydra with a whimper and Fitz & Simmons throw caution to the wind.
17) Despite all odds the super squad successfully rescue all team members and capture Malick. Too late he reveals that Ward can control inhumans, initially accusing Lincoln, Daisy leaves with mutagen crystals and the space object. After killing Malick and fracturing the team and SHIELD HQ.
16) Malick's fear of Ward makes sense when it is revealed he rigged the system to send his brother to the Hydra monster. Charles vision makes him think his time is up but Ward instead kills his daughter and reveals he not only remembers the lives of his previous victims but also seems to be victim to some of their compulsions. The team except Daisy and Lincoln are captured, making it necessary to call in the inhuman ringers.
15) Charles is a homeless inhuman who gives visions of a future death to anyone he touches. Daisy touches him twice, one death is his, the other seems to be hers. When Ward convinces Malick to kill someone himself it leads him to finally experience fear. Andrew returns and makes his final transformation in front of May into Lash.
14) Mack is trying to make time for his brother but an attack by Wolves (anti-inhuman group funded by Malick) gets in the way and outs his real job. Daisy is letting the job get personal, which despite Fitz's protestations will likely lead to disaster.
13) Following Hunter and Bobbi to Syria SHIELD uncover a plot by Malick to assassinate members of the Russian government. Though they manage to kill the threat and save the prime minister, Bobbi and Hunter are disavowed and forced to leave the team probably forever.
12) Lincoln and Daisy fight, as training partners, as idealists (regarding the possibility of a cure) and as lovers. Malick crashes a symposium on the inhumans, where General Talbot (Ward's brother and new head of the ACTU) is coerced into betraying Coulson at least until SHIELD save his son. Ward begins to build his inhuman army and sacrifices humans to return his strength.
(11) A Columbian police patrol has all their weaponry stolen in a matter of moments. Mac successfully identifies the culprit and with SHIELDS help captures the speedster (Yo-Yo) only to discover it's the police who need reigning in. Meanwhile Ward gathers his strength under the protection of Malick whilst Coulson tries to find a means to locate him.
(10) SHIELD take the base, rescue Fitz and Coulson but Will is already dead. The inhuman (alien grub thing) plays along as Will in order to try and hitch passage but Fitz burns the body and Coulson kills Ward. Garner is set loose and kills the other captured inhumans. Malick escapes and against all odds finds Ward (grub infested) waiting for him.
(9) Ward takes charge, killing Rosalind and capturing Fitz and Simmons. Playing them off each other he convinces Fitz to help them bring the inhuman back through the portal. Malich then convinces Ward to lead that team. Furious with Ward, Coulson leaves Mack in charge and utilising Ward's brother tracks Ward down in time to take the portal express. Leaving Bobbi and Hunter in the air being fired upon. Whilst Mack clears the inhuman team led by Daisy to take back the portal.
(8) Coulson proves he has the cooler head when he simultaneously interrogates Rosalind and recons the ACTU. Proving that Rosalind's government contact is HYDRA and that the science division of the ACTU has been dosing the population to produce inhumans. Fitz and Simmons determine that the NASA program that sent Will was an inhuman worshiping cult, the true purpose of HYDRA. Ward tries to make Garner turn permanently.
(7)With the help of Connor and the ACTU, SHIELD apprehend Garner. May agrees to put him in stasis. Fitz shares a possible lead on getting to Will with Simmons. Connor comes to SHIELD and Daisy saves Rosalind. Bobbi and Hunter agree to stop hunting Ward. Coulson sleeps with Rosalind who in turn is in bed with a colleague of Wards. Ward wants Coulson dead.
(6) Hunter is benched for failure. May and Bobbi (after an unorthodox field test) go after Ward, by way of Verner. An older Hydra agent sees that the boy dies. In the melee that follows Bobbi proves herself fit and May is left broken over the revelation that Garner is Flash. Rosalind reveals the medical intent to find a cure to Coulson. Daisy tries to convince Connor to come in whilst Fitz researches Will to find out what kind of man he's trying to save.
(5) A flashback episode that reveals the events on the other planet. Simmons finding a planet seemingly abandoned, apart from carnivorous aquatic life, is captured by a suspicious former astronaut Will. Time together forges a romantic relationship. When Fitz is successful in opening the portal, the evil being on the planet prevents Will returning with Simmons.
(4) Hunter runs into Ward a lot earlier than expected, May arrives to assist but is rendered impotent by the threat on Garner's life. Hunter's hot head prevails, Ward escapes injured and Verner attacks Garner. Daisy discovers the alien, is an inhuman (I suspect the leader of Rosalind's team) named Lash capable of returning to normal form.
(3) The team almost bring Lincoln in but end up having to trade to keep Daisy. When Lincoln runs, Coulson offers the government (Rosalind) a partnership. Hunter has to kill an old comrade to make it in to the new Hydra. Simmons seems to be suffering from PTSD due to her other world experience but the mystery thickens when she reveals she needs to go back.
(2) Fitz is vindicated, when with the help of Daisy and some Asgardian knowledge he manages to rescue Simmons. Hunter finds May, who agrees to go after Grant Ward. Who is rebuilding Hydra with a new violent meritocracy. After indoctrination Strucker's son (Verner) enrolls in the class taught by SHIELDs on call psychologist (Dr. Garner).
(1) Daisy (formerly Skye) and team are trying to work out who is scooping up new inhumans before they can provide aid. A new government initiative (ACTU) to replace SHIELD are suspected but Coulson's investigation suggests otherwise. May is MIA, Bobbi is in rehab for a knee injury, Couslon is trying to learn to use a new hand and Fitz is trying to get Simmons back. Simmons is seemingly lost on another planet.- 2015 & 16
----Season 2-------------------------------------------------------
The scope of characters, themes and powers increases. The inhumans come to the fore and the relationship between Skye and her parents is revealed with devastating results.- 2014
----Season 1------------------------------------------------------
Not dissimilar to other works of Joss Whedon's (Buffy and to a lesser extent Firefly) the show rewards continued viewings. Starting slowly but by the conclusion of the first season has woven an intricate web of double crossing and intrigue. Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson) is standout but he is well supported by a solid cast, in particular Ming-Na Wen (Melinda May), Brett Dalton (Grant Ward) and Chloe Bennet (Skye). - CreatorSteven LilienElizabeth SarnoffBryan WynbrandtStarsSarah JonesJorge GarciaJonny CoyneIn 1963, all the prisoners and guards mysteriously disappear from Alcatraz. It passed the time while eating but I never really connected. Around the same time I discovered Firefly during the same timeslot (GWN) and that was a keeper. Sometimes the content can be a bit blue, which is unfortunate because the show is at it's best when spoofing the James Bond, secret agent dynamic and leaving the raunch to one side. When it is on song, there's not much in cartoon form that is funnier.

I had caught occasional episodes on SBS or ABC prior and found some funny moments. During a bus trip across the Nullabor for NTE with a large group of University friends we viewed 4 episodes during the trip. It surprised me how much of the humour content was sexually derived (didn't recall this at all) and subsequently I haven't seen an episode since. - CreatorGreg BerlantiMarc GuggenheimAndrew KreisbergStarsStephen AmellKatie CassidyDavid RamseySpoiled billionaire playboy Oliver Queen is missing and presumed dead when his yacht is lost at sea. He returns five years later a changed man, determined to clean up the city as a hooded vigilante armed with a bow.Season 1
A live action adaptation of DC Comic's Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) character and story arc. Many character's are renamed, omitted, events changed but the general premise remains the same. Some of the dialogue and plot construction can come across a little soap opera-ish on occasion but for the most part this is a solid action/ thriller series. At it's best when exploring the development of Oliver through his experiences on the Island. - 2014
Season 2
As the series progresses the DC universe is carefully expanded. In the villainous crew there is Deathstroke/ Slade Wilson, Deadshot, Clock King, Bronze Tiger & Shrapnel. Then there are grey knights; Amanda Waller, Mockingbird & The Huntress. Finally some additional heroes; Black Canary, Roy Harper/ Arsenal & the Flash.
The handling of each character is interesting, with many characters committing acts that clash somewhat with their expected villain or hero responses. If the upcoming Batman v. Superman and later Justice League series take a similar approach they will be a real treat.
Season 3x1 to 2, 5 to 23
The series continues to add characters: Ra's Al Ghul, The Atom and Wildcat. But more shocking is the violent end to Black Canary. A demise that fuels most of the series. Leading to the completion of the Arrow and perhaps the end of Oliver as well as the rise of a new Canary. Kitana and the Atom also feature. For flashback, Oliver has made it off the island but his time in Hong Kong is a whole new level of moral challenge. As before the two story lines come together well.

To make matters worse the teacher is a magical tentacled being with super speed and other powers who after blowing up the moon has guaranteed he will blow up the earth if they fail. The army have been unsuccessful what chance do the kids have?
----Season 1
missed... 2017 x5
14) A class bully is talked into helping White and Etona to knock Koro off. The plan involves water and draining Koro of his protective mucus reserves to tilt the fight in Etona's favour. What the bully doesn't know is it also involves putting the entire class at risk. A gamble that backfires when the class unites to stop Etona from killing Koro and taking the prize money.
13) Kurosama continues to offer extra assassination classes to the students. A former colleague of his comes to relieve for PE but his methods are a dangerous combination of false affection, bribery and violence. With Karma truanting Nagisa (narrator kid) surprises everyone by agreeing to take a real knife challenge. And surprises them again by proving he could of killed him, who tries to go a second round but is stopped by Kurosama and strangely the Principal who sends him packing.
12) Samurai Champloo took one episode to zero in on the Japanese love for baseball and here Assassination Classroom displays there own version of the game. E-Class even under Koro's guidance beat the top team only by bunting and crowding the batsmen but it's a clear message to the Principal and hints at a serious confrontation come end of year.
11) Another exchange student, Koro's brother (Etona) and his teacher a white clothed magician (aka White to me) arrive and very nearly kill Koro. The existence of another biological life-form with head tentacles (even one shaped as a kid) causes Koro to lose his cool in order to win. White puts his protege down after the initial contest and leaves to lick wounds. The students decide they want to be the assassins not some ring-in.
10) Jelavic is visited by her former mentor who is disappointed with her settling for teaching. Koro sets up an assassination challenge between the two of them that reunites Hellavic's passion. She wins because Korusama? is tired of the disruption to class. Koro also takes Karma and the narrator to see a movie. The cliche ending of brother against sister leaves Koro in tears - which seems strange until the closer reveals Koro's brother is being sent to kill him for the destruction to the moon.
9) Stretching the definition of exchange student AIFA is a mechanized infantry unit brought to 3-E to end Koro. On her second attempt she makes Koro bleed but the disruption turns the class against her and they restrain her box mounted guns so they can get back to learning. Koro takes pity on her and adds functionality intended to ingratiate her with the class, her creators deem the additions disruptive and remove them but she hides core material and in that act of rebellion gains free will and becomes Ritsu.
8) Conclusion to E Class's trip to Kyoto. Sniper Red Eye is hired to try and take out Koro and in failing learns his sweat is bulletproof and makes for a good soap. Jelavic reveals she's just 20 and Koro hints at a varied lovelife and a different body in the past.
7) Half of E Class are abducted by high school students while on a trip to Kyoto. Which would have been a real problem if Koro hadn't provided the students with a comprehensive guide book that included response suggestions for just such an occasion.
6) The Principal makes a visit to E Class to ensure the status quo continues which only drives Koro to teach better and threaten to leave if the kids don't all make the top 50 in the school. But the test is rigged with questions and topics the Principal personally taught the rest of the school but didn't even notify E Class. Koro is ashamed of the system until Karma (who aced everything anyway but decides to stay) calls him on cowardice.
5) Obaka asks Koro to drink poison she cooked up with chemistry, he complies and it has strange temporary transformative effects. Kukudon the bizarre school mascot shows up again to detail how E Class is being used a means of motivating other students to succeed by showing them abject failure. When Koro corrects a hazing opportunity at school assembly it invites the ire of the Principal with red glowing eyes.
4) Professional Irina Jelavic (Hellabitch to the students) joins the faculty as English teacher when her attempted seduction and assassination of Koro fails on day one. Koro reveals lead bullets melt on impact and takes the time to pretty Hella up.
3) Karma makes an immediate presence, succeeding on the first day in blowing Koro's arm off (with a handshake laced with knife fragments) and his feet with pink bbs. When Koro starts to use his super speed to not only foil the remaining attempts but pretty the boy up he goes all in leaping from the cliff - either Koro dies or he does (along with Koro's reputation as a teacher). Off course Koro saves the boy and then bizarrely encourages him to keep trying to kill him.
2) An attempt to kill Koro with a baseball (laced with pink bbs) fails but causes him to teach one of the students better pitching technique. Besides super speed and flight, his tentacles can read minds and determine biological data. One of the government handlers is sent in as a PE teacher and a former student expelled for violent behavior (Karma) is returned to 3-E.
1) The students are given guns with special pink bbs and floppy green knives that harm only their Koro and immediately put them to use. Chiding them for failing, Koro encourages them to be more creative but when a class member uses a bb filled grenade he gets angry. Threats are made on their family if they attempt to kill him without regard for their own safety (part of the agreement with the army). Even so Koro proves himself to be an excellent teacher with the class producing the best academic work of their time as students.- 2016

5) Qualifier. Course perhaps a little easier. Dominated by full-time workers and part-time athletes. Including a great run by a WA musician.
4) Qualifier. The course gets more difficult but a team of climbers clear convincingly. Whilst Australia's best female rock climber is stopped by the Warped Wall.
3) Qualifier. More gymnasts. More failures. Out of Perth brothers (of Australia's first Ninja Warrior Gym) only one limps through the course. Before a foul-mouthed harpy takes a well deserved plunge.
2) Qualifier. More athletes in this batch but the top spot is taken by a mothers boy.
1) Qualifier. More in common with the American variant than the Japanese original. Both because the course is easier than the Japanese behemoth and the competitors are chosen more for back-story than athletic capability. Though 2 free-running twins are impressive. The girls run the same course as the boys - and boy will the commentators never stop claiming there as good - even if they fail to demonstrate it.- 2017

Season 2 - CreatorAlan BurnettBob KaneGerry ConwayStarsWill FriedleKevin ConroyLauren TomFuelled by remorse and vengeance, a high schooler named Terry McGinnis revives the role of Batman. Under supervision of an elderly Bruce Wayne, he fights crime in a harsh, futuristic Gotham. Here known as Batman Beyond
Like Frank Miller's latter half of The Dark Knight comics and animations, the series benefits from tapping into the psyche of the now grizzled, battle weary but still stubborn as hell Bruce Wayne as he trains (reluctantly of course at first) a new Batman to take on the challenges of a new world. Much of the series tackles questions of artificial intelligence and man's role with technology and gives the show a significant Sci Fi bent.
Season 1:
The opening episode is brilliant. Wayne's character and struggles are well explored and McGinnis (the to be Batman) is brought into his life cleverly. The early exchanges between the two are probably the best of the series. So too the exploration of the Jokers' legacy and influence beyond the grave, as gangs championing his namesake continue to plague both Batmen. The season suffers a little from some of McGinnis' struggles being too childish to well relate for adults (not surprising given it is a kid's show). So too the villains are not as memorable as the original Batman's rogue's gallery. Although Inque is interesting.
Season 2 (up until episode 12):
Notably here episode 2x04 Lost Soul explores all the same ground as the recent movie Transcendence (Johnny Depp). - 2014 - CreatorBob KaneEric RadomskiBruce TimmStarsKevin ConroyLoren LesterEfrem Zimbalist Jr.The Dark Knight battles crime in Gotham City with occasional help from Robin and Batgirl.A darker take on Batman with a darker palette of colours and orchestral work to match. Often features the caped detective unhampered by pointless sidekicks.
Season 1x01 to 06
On Leather Wings (1x01) sees a lesser known rogue (Man-Bat) in a gothic sort of Jekyl & Hyde style tale. Setting the scene for the continual police pursuit of Batman. The Joker (1x02, Christmas with the Joker) soon takes over with his madcap schemes of villainy. Unfortunately this episode also sees the introduction of Robin. 1x03 Nothing to Fear introduces the Scarecrow in a solid episode of paranoia. Joker is back in The Last Laugh (1x04) before Poison Ivy (Pretty Poison 1x05) sets out to wipe out Harvey Dent.
The lesser known rogues grow with the introduction of the Sewer King (The Underdwellers 1x06) in a nicely told episode. - CreatorBob KaneJoe ShusterJerry SiegelStarsDiedrich BaderJohn DiMaggioJames Arnold TaylorAn updated animated series centering on the Caped Crusader himself as he partners and deals with his fellow superheroes in the DC Comics universe.Showcasing the lighter side of Batman and the DC Universe, it still holds viewer interest with it's madcap combination of witty one-liners and odd hero (and villain) matchups.
Season 1:
Aquaman, introduced early in this season is standout, with his grandstanding and "outrageous" rhetoric and stories. The short two part arc between alternative universes where a long time rival of The Bat is perhaps the only good (albeit loopy) man left is particularly well told. Breaking the fourth wall the arrival of BatMite is a weak point in the season and his later re-entry in later seasons will eventually ruin the series.
Season 2 - up till 1x26
The Seige of Starro arc is memorable, bringing to the fore the best hero to emerge within the series - Bwana Beast!
In this Season even the first episode with BatMite is not terrible but has a few good moments courtesy of the Joker (unfortunately the second of the BatMite offerings is very poor). Still with the Joker - The Knights of Tomorrow episode is more than solid.
Season 3:
The arc with The Weeper and The Joker is a nice change up - focusing more attention on the excellent rogues gallery. Also memorable is the episode where Batman out of action is temporarily replaced by multiple hero fill-ins. "How does he do it?" In a similar vein a time travelling romp showcasing Batmans of past and future is also very well told. Finally BatMite returns as aforementioned and ends the season on a most unfortunately weak moment. - CreatorDuane CapizziBill FingerMichael GoguenStarsRino RomanoAlastair DuncanEvan SabaraBillionaire Bruce Wayne fights crime and evil as the mysterious Batman.A darkly, absurd take on the Bat (lightening in tone a bit with the introduction of more sidekicks). Favoring his traditional rogues gallery.

----Season 4-----------------------------------------------------
(1) In the build up to the Justice League in the previous season Superman was conspicuous in his absence. Season 4 sees him arrive (along with Metallo, Lex Luthor, Lois Lane and Jimmy... and unfortunately Kryptonite) immediately. (2) The interplay between Batman and Superman is pretty well handled. Also the role of Batman as detective is explored more thoroughly.
(3) Green Arrow is next to be explored (quick backstory on the island) and then he and Batman team up to deal with Count Vertigo. (4) Later Firefly's romantic entanglements lead to the development of Phosphorous.
(5) Flash joins w/ B&R when dopplegangers of heroes start to rob Gotham, the work of Mirror Master & Smoke. (6) Joker then returns for some more classic Batman action.
(7) Green Lantern drops in to warn Batman of Sinestro's incoming and in the end Batman proves he doesn't need the help. Robin is even more unnecessary than usual. (8) Joker enlists a gamer to help him carry out some withdrawals resulting in a doppleganger that no one is a fan of.
(9) With Batgirl graduated high school, B & BG tackle a college case of animal mutagen linked to Manbat - with three outcasts posing very little problem. (10) Wrath & Scorn evil versions of B & R are giving them serious trouble until they work out they are people they know.
(11) Black Mask and Shadow Theif try to heist a Thannagar meteorite leading to teaming up of B & R and Hawkman. Hawkman is a weak character in this (especially compared to the excellent Hawkgirl in Justice League) - he's as straight laced as Green Lantern or Superman and doesn't add much in power set.
(12 to 13) A fairly weak finish with The Joining returning with help from Hugo Strange to steal Justice League powers and threaten the earth. The usual schtick about how Batman/ Green Arrow don't need powers to beat the enemy. Coupled with a surprisingly speedy finish to a double episode.
----Season 3----------------------------------------------------------
Robin (Dick Grayson) joins the Bat. For the villains - Riddler, Harley Quin, Killer Moth, Clayface 2 (after Ethan Bennet is cured), Black Mask, Everywhere-man and Rumor.
The season takes a dramatic turn in 1x13 when Jon Jones (Martian Manhunter) introduces Batman to the Justice League (Green Arrow, Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman).
----Season 2-----------------------------------------------------------
Joining Batman's Rogues this season - Poison Ivy, The Ventriloquist, Maximillian (Gladiator), Krank (Patton Oswalt voices), Rag-doll and Gearhead. Batgirl (Barbara Gordon) also joins Bat's side.

The central premise is interesting enough - genetic experiment of the government, hiding in a city block in America is brought into contact with a girl who he previously saved the life of. Like Jekyll & Hyde before it, the key issue here is whether the man can keep the monster at bay, or at least control it when it arises. Some of the relationship dramatics (in particular the terrible decisions of the lead girl) are too soapy for my taste. - 2014 - CreatorToby WhithouseStarsLenora CrichlowRussell ToveyAidan TurnerA werewolf, a vampire, and a ghost try to live together and get along.Three unlikely housemates: George (Werwolf), Annie (Ghost) & Mitchell (Vampire) struggle with eachother's help to hold onto their humanity in-spite of such significant transformations.
Season 1:
The three characters are developed well as their relationship together transforms. George goes looking for love, Annie for answers and Mitchell for revenge. None of them quite getting what they expected. Mitchell's brooding and at times psychotic behaviour contrasts well with Annie & George's softer methods. Herrick is a wonderfully malicious villain.
Season 2:
What made the first season so good was the way in which whilst respecting the mythology for each 'race' the psychology of humanity was explored through each character. Love/ lust, justice/ revenge & redemption. Herrick served as a reminder of what each character was battling. The second season explores similar ground but with a broader palette of characters and starts to feel a little tired and lacks as clear a focus. Mitchell though is excellently portrayed as he falls further into bloodlust.
Season 3:
Mitchell's past transgressions lead to a distressing finale. The conclusion though riveting left a sizeable hole in the Being Human universe - not easily filled. - 2014 - CreatorMitch WatsonStarsAnthony RuivivarSumalee MontanoJB BlancBatman, a crime-fighting vigilante of Gotham City, goes up against the underworld.A somewhat darker and grittier cartoon adaptation of the caped crusader. MISSED- 2016
----Season 3-------------------------------------------------
1) Season 3, represents a change in formula. Evolving from a police procedural with one dubious asset (Reddington); now with Keen forced on the run, Harper relieved of command (replaced by Resler) and Reddington in the wind. 2) A terrifyingly effective henchman (Matthias Solomon) of the cabal tries to locate R & K before Red can untangle the web.
3) Although R & K deal a blow to the cabal by successfully foiling a get rich scheme through a gm crop virus it comes at the cost of Keen shooting a cop. Meanwhile Djembe and other's of Red's associates are being systematically tortured for information by the henchman. With Red now aware of the abduction - action might be taken. Tom Keen is also co-opted by Harper in a scheme to deal with Karrakurt (assassin from last season).
4) Djembe tries to make an escape but is undone by a supposed friend. R & K help Ressler capture another list entry and Red continues to compile what might be evidence to clear Keen or something else. Meanwhile Tom goes undercover to try to clear Keen independently.
5) Keen is placed on a dark net hit site - with terrible consequences. It culminates in a standoff between Red, Keen & Solomon, which Djembe interrupts to save the day. Keen's death is then faked and things become more awkward when the head of the CIA (Peter, suspected member of the cabal) is forced upon Ressler and his team. Tom makes inroads into tracking down the Russians who can give him access to Karrakurt.
6) Red again plays everyone for fools as he finds the secret to stealing Peter's escape fund and ends another Cabal asset. This gives Ressler material to try to push Peter out of house and Solomon cause to contemplate tying his end. Tom manages to locate Karrakurt, for a rather grisly price. This gives more leverage to exonerate Keen and adds an interesting layer to a character I thought was finished mid-way season 1.
7) A series of wire taps gives Ressler the leverage he needs to oust Peter from the teams HQ. Tom's plan with Karrakurt hit's a roadblock when Harper fails to convince Ressler to get involved. Peter demonstrates a willingness to hurt his own to protect his cover, in his interrogation of Solomon. Samar discovers her brother she thought dead is a wanted bomber, ending by giving him to Red.
8) Samara's fling with Ressler gets her caught for aiding Red. Red is kidnapped by a local group of thugs, who he successfully plays off the other (in usual calm style). Keen's desperation to get Red back leads to giving up the key to her exoneration. Both Djembe and Keen are captured by Ressler. Red is again in the wind. Tom, Harper (& his wife) & Karrakurt run to a cabin in the woods when the Cabal try to assassinate Karrakurt by tracing a tracker in his chest. Solomon picks up the trail and is kept out of the spotlight by the murder of a higher official.
9) Foiled at moving Keen to a more kill friendly location the Cabal instead try to poison her with Nitrogen in her holding box. Forcing Aram to release her, just in time for Red to successfully negotiate her personal transfer for testimony under Ressler (who is now better informed than ever who the Cabal's members are). Despite Solomon's attack, he lands in jail and Tom and Harper keep hold of Karrakurt. Navabi after being fired by Ressler, begins working alongside Djembe for Red.
10) About the only thing that doesn't go Red's way is that Keen has to cop a plea for manslaughter over the senator, which even with no time served leaves her out of her job with the agency. Karrakurt is charged with the conspiracy and Peter (former CIA head and Cabal member) takes a one way trip. Everyone else more or less returns to their old roles, Tom in the shadows, Harper at the desk and Ressler on the street. Red continues to offer his consultancy services and also surprisingly takes a seat at the Cabal.
11) Confusion surrounding Red reaches fever pitch when the FBI arrest a man who also claims to be Raymond Reddington. Upset at Red's decision to hand over former friends this new man makes a deal to release the details of a secret meeting of criminal overlords in exchange for his freedom. By the time the episode ends Red has successfully killed the man responsible for the trouble, the imposter (who in fact was a grifter with terminal illness hired by Red) and ended all rumours he is working for the FBI. A man on the street recognises Keen and attacks her - her subsequent hospital visit reveals she is with child.
12) A nasty cult who kill pedophiles, gets worse when it turns out it's members were formally convicted of the same crime and worse again when it's revealed the men they were killing were instead white collar criminals. All part of a tricky plan by a church father to move in on the money laundering scene. Red wraps it up in his usual fashion and also meddles in Liz's life: removing Tom's job opportunity and replacing her neighbor with his people. Which all leads to Keen dialing an adoption agency.
13) After playing up Red's nasty streak, the series takes a turn with a case involving an arranger of criminal mergers who is of personal interest to Red because of his role in harming a lover. Meanwhile Liz's reputation reduces her respect at work and her options for adoption. Whilst Tom visits an old flame to turn some serious cash in a risky heist.
14) A twisted tale involving a witch in the woods and her plan to give children immortality by carnivorous butterflies leads to Liz reconsidering her decision to give her child away. Red also gets hold of her mother's KGB file. Tom's heist ends in violent trouble, and he concludes the episode hospitalised.
15) An NSA program designed to remotely control webcams leads Red and the team to take down a 'performance artist' and serial killer. Meanwhile Tom is spared arrest by Red on Liz's behalf, leading to them both deciding to keep the child. Red receives a painting portraying Liz and his grave supposedly from Rostova (Keen's mother).
16) A convoluted kidnapping plot to reveal dangerous secrets is once again solved by Red's connections. His personal stake this time is keeping Keen from the truth about her mother. Even so she starts to suspect Rostova is looking for her. Tom tries to end things amicably with his former flame after Keen says yes to his marriage proposal but she is working for someone else.
17) Solomon expects to be tied up as a loose end but finds himself strangely in the employ of someone who wants Liz brought to them. This plays havoc with wedding plans for her and Tom when a firefight ensues. Tom's former employer also ends up dead at the hands of his former flame.
18) A car crash caused by Solomon during the newlyweds attempt to escape leads to pregnancy complications, rushed to an emergency facility the new girl Agnes is left with Tom as Liz fails to recover and passes en-route to better equipment. Solomon's team are dead but he is still in the wind.
19) Perhaps as a reflection of Red's damaged mental state post trauma the show takes a dramatic left turn. With an atmospheric, house on the beach, a mysterious woman and a hit squad. A perfectly executed counter fight dissolves to memory and Red is left holding a locket. Possibly an heirloom from a former lover.
20) Avoiding a moving funeral (by TV standards), Red goes instead to Keen's absent grandfather, who accuses him of killing all his family. The team stops an abduction attempt connected to Solomon's kill squad and glimpses a woman who Tom suspects is Katarina (Keen's mum).
21) Red's recent slump is made all the stranger when he successfully tracks down the manager (Scottie, the woman thought to be Katarina) of Halcyon responsible for the attempted abduction of Liz, only to offer her help in dealing with Alexander Kirk's revenge attack for the botched job. Tom continues working for the team as an asset.
22) Apart from Red, Tom has been the most consistently interesting character of the series (moving from loving husband, to double agent, to wanted fugitive, to vicious murderer, to grieving husband and doting father). His drive for revenge against Liz's killers, gives him a chance to use old skills in some of the best sequences of the series whilst also demonstrating he's a man undergoing moral change (saving a little girl). Scottie has a great opening sequence, reminiscent of some of Red's negotiations and her chemistry with Tom is undeniable, made creepy when Red reveals to Tom she is his mother.
23) Red tries to bring Kirk to the US so he can assassinate him but when Tom runs with Agnes to Cuba, Kirk intercepts both of them and Liz who is waiting for them. Cate (one of Red's closest allies) helped arrange the escape of all three. It's unclear if Tom is still alive and the action ends with Kirk informing Liz he is her father.
----Season 2-------------------------------------------------
As with season 1, Reddington continues to enthrall. It's his little tics, stories in place of answers and unusual emotional responses that continue to work. Luther Braxton (Ron Perlman) provides a nice mid season counterpoint. The conclusion is thrilling and brings most of the mystery to a close. Wonder what they will do with another season?
----Season 1-------------------------------------------------
The rest of the cast are good and the script writing is top notch but it is (as with Boston Legal and The Practice) - James Spader's portrayal of the sometimes villainous, sometimes heroic Raymond Reddington that keeps view interest. Every moment he is on screen is captivating.- 2015

A very different animation style to the majority of Marvel themed offerings. Older looking in a good way, rougher and darker. Really suits the subject matter and lead character. 10) OVER IT
Roman is now a fugitive amnesiac, Patterson captured by an ousted Borden, Jane returning in suspect circumstances and the entire Sandstorm plan was seemingly a ruse. Feels like too many new components and an unclear overall plot arc.
9) Roman shoots Shephard instead of proving his loyalty by killing Jane (sister). Jane drugs Roman to turn him in. Patterson is shot by Borden (mole and lover).
8) Weller and Jane go AWOL during a sting operation, a risk that pays off but leaves Kamal's job insecure. Zapata returns the evidence and Reade help the killer, an old friend leave the state.
7) Rich.com gets arrested to have the FBI deal with an assassin problem. Zapata tampers with evidence to avoid a conviction for Reade, except he likely didn't kill the coach. The FBI mole lets Roman know Jane is compromised just as she is warming to Sandstorm.
6) NSA hacker Winter was framed by Shephard (Kurt remembers her voice) and Roman (Jane is close to turning). Kurt sleeps with Kamal whose bug is found by Patterson in Borden's office. Zapata helps Reade cover his tracks.
5) Jane is close to finding Shepard lied. A case against the mob sees Allie (with whom Kurt is expecting) taking a bullet to the leg. Zapata tracks down Reade to find his abusing coach dead.
4) Reade's potential abuse sees him benched for acting out. Weller discovers Sandstorm has tracked him for 20 years, Shephard claims a poisoned lake was the beginning of the movement and Zapata leans on the latest capture to perform a dark web hack.
3) A string of bombings are much more easily solved than Remy (Jane's) loyalty test assassination, Weller's shock pregnancy, Reade's repressed memories or Patterson and Borden's (psychologists) new relationship.
2) New NSA co-director (Kamal) is listening in on Weller's psych sessions. Reade begins to remember his time under coach Jones. A gun-sting program is prevented by the team despite continuing unease over Jane, who is drugged and kidnapped by Roman, against Shephard's orders.
1) Exciting opener, where Jane creatively escapes a black-ops torture facility only to be captured and re-enlisted as a FBI/ Sandstorm double-agent. Reconnecting with her adopted mother (Shephard) and brother (Roman), the FBI has a mole in its operation.
----Season 1-----------------------------------------------------
23) Pretty solid ending. Kurt is relieved when the place his father mentioned is empty, until he checks where he really meant and finally he finds the body of Taylor. Jane finds Mayfair's body but is captured by Oscar who tries to once again wipe her memory. They fight and he dies in the exchange. The rest of the FBI team follow breadcrumbs left by Mayfair to uncover all the files on Daylight and Orion. Kurt confronts and arrests Jane for her deception.
22) Both Jane and Mayfair are cut from the FBI and Kurt is made the new Director. Mayfair skips house arrest to dismantle the false charges against her and Jane tracks down a center farming babies for bone marrow. Mayfair is shot by Oscar, after tracking the connection between Sophia and the disappearance of Carter and dies knowing that Jane was a mole. Kurt's dad dies revealing that he actually did kill Taylor Shaw and tells him the location of the body.
21) The team's HQ is hacked on the day that Weiss (the man running Zapata) comes in to investigate the death of Mayfair's friend. Kurt and co manage to stop the hackers from leaving with what they came for. However with the crisis averted Mayfair is immediately arrested by Weiss who presents copious evidence that implicates her in the murder of Carter, Guerro and her friend. The work of Jane through Oscar's side missions and disturbingly Sophia.
20) A young girl who doesn't speak is carrying around a notebook containing her detailed drawings. One of which matches Jane's tattoo, the rest pertain to a radical Islamist group. The ensuing kerfuffle is poorly handled, multiple instances of decisions to advance the plot at the expense of the intelligence of the main cast. The serious fighters leave Patterson to use shooting and survival skills (a stark contrast from her running in the woods experience earlier) at odds with her character in order to set up a possible relationship with the team psychiatrist (Dr. Borden). Mayfair's potential fling ends in a bloody warning to stop investigating Carter's disappearance and Jane is coerced into stealing files for Oscar.
19) Tattooed numbers, the same as a college's football game scores place the team in the middle of a school shooting prompted by a pedophile coach. The action is handled well but the pacing is ruined by multiple cuts to prior event slow vignettes for the team. All of which could have been placed before or after the main plot: Kurt's dad forgiving him, Taylor convincing Oscar to remain her handler, Zapata opening up at an AA meeting and Mayfair providing Sophia with cash to keep running.
18) Good episode. One of the top fences, Mr Dot Com (whom Weller & Jane previously captured) is attacked in jail and offers up a notorious money man for terrorists in exchange for better quarters. The team need to steal a set of paintings from an art thief to flush him out. Dot uses the ruse to escape and steal the real paintings. Jane is free to pursue Kurt when Ally asks for space. Mayfair makes arrangements to meet a new lady, when her old (thought dead) partner Sophia makes an appearance.
17) Same problems as previous episode (re employees in bed) but the writer's at least switch the formula up. Leading to an exploration of grief for Patterson, by way of a treasure hunt accompanied by a David manifested by her subconscious. The serial killer ending is a bit forced but it's a decent send-off for the character. Reade informs Mayfair of the threats on his safety, whilst Zapata begins to investigate her for corruption and Kurt's dad has a heart attack following their reconciliation.
16) The team successfully prevent a North Korean faction from releasing Sarin Gas. It's an episode of many weak links, overly concerned with employee sexual relationships (Kurt & Ally, Jane & Oscar & Reade & Kurt's sister) and weak tattoo links that feel implausible and make smart character's seem stupid. Cross-word puzzles with dead boyfriends and only just deciding to investigate the links between the tattoos rather than follow blindly the trail as laid out. Oscar tasks Jane with becoming Kurt's girl but then sleeps with her.
15) Reade's captor discourages further investigation into Carter's death, leading to him ending things with Weller's sister. A Banksy-style art exhibition has a painting exactly matching Jane's tattoo stolen. When the team responds Weller is seriously injured by a targeted explosion whilst Jane places a tracking chip in the team van for Oscar. Cade, a past colleague of Jane's is responsible, a second attempt on Jane's life ends with him wounded and thought dead but very alive and dangerous.
14) An anonymous email (Oscar) acts in the absence of Jane to send the team on a chase to save a man on death row and shut down an illegal brothel. Zapata volunteers to go undercover and narrowly avoids death in the rescue operation, she also has to deal with a new handler, who like Mayfair is gunning for the truth of Carter's disappearance. Reade finds camera footage of Oscar with Carter's car and is taken captive just as Jane is warned by Oscar that the group she works for will kill Weller if she does not comply.
13) Jonas Fisher, gunning for Mayfair's job uses the death of a witness and claims of a Russian mole in the FBI to trawl through the office's dirty laundry. He pins his hopes on proving Taylor is the mole and in the process outs the kiss between her and Kurt, his sister's relationship with one of the team, bugs in another Zapata's apartment and circumstantial evidence around Carter's disappearance. When Fisher is revealed to be the mole Taylor kills him in questionable self defense and breaks off her arrangement with Oscar.
12) A drug induced super-soldier program is uncovered when a soldier thought dead is responsible for a shooting at a military based. Jane swaps Mayfair's pen per the instructions of Oscar - who reveals Orion is where Jane died. Kurt discovers his dad left to kill himself on the night he blamed him for Taylor's abduction. One of Kurt's team (Reade) begins dating his sister.
11)Carter's death is staged to look like a suicide but an internal reviewer (Jonas) looks to leverage Patterson's sharing of classified data to remove Mayfair from her post. Kurt and team follow Jane's tattoos to a latitude and longitude where they discover a missing passenger jet and a plan to blind the US satellite network. Jane meets Oscar who confirms she is Taylor Shaw and that following her own plan will require completing tasks he gives her.
10) A Russian sleeper-cell plot to assassinate defectors, hits close to the heart for both Jane (due to memories of her time in an orphanage) and Patterson. Patterson's grief causes Jane to seek a relationship with Kurt. Immediately afterwards she is kidnapped and tortured. Oscar (tree root) arrives, kills Carter and a recording of Jane reveals all is going according to her plan.
9) Kurt and Jane go undercover as an assassin couple to secure a list stolen from witness protection. It causes Jane to remember being engaged - presumably to tree man. Carter's mole destroys the bug she's given. A ex-boyfriend of the team's analyst (Patterson) and prisoner Guerro are killed. Zapata refuses to install the bug in Jane's apartment.
8) Daylight is revealed to be an NSA program spying on US citizens - run by Carter (CIA), Mayfair (FBI) and Davenport (Gov). The running of which lead to the suicide of Mayfair's partner. It's an abuse of power that's echoed in the latest case involving police using body-cam footage for blackmail purposes. More blackmail ensues as Carter extends his Zapata's one-time only deal.
7) Another tattoo chase leads to an armed segregated nationalist community where the team are surprised to find a man on the FBI's most wanted. The tattoo's lead them to military hardware which helps with the forest based fire-fight and impressively a military helicopter hidden for their use. Jane finds she can fly it even under heavy fire but has control issues with plane travel. Kurt's return with the fugitive leads to him learning about Daylight.
6) Tracking those responsible for government agent killings leads to the coder of a dark-web GPS app. The young girl responsible shakes up the team; outsmarting the resident computer analyst and filling a social need in Jane's life. When she ends up in danger the team are personally invested in her safe return. Jane's dream of a man with a tree tattoo seems to be rooted (pun) in reality, one of the agents (Zapata) settles a gambling debt and Kurt's father learns Taylor is alive. He breaks down very convincingly.
5) Tensions between the CIA and FBI rise with the accidental discovery of an on US soil CIA black site. Jane remembers being abducted to a facility with other children. Searching for a dirty bomb maker allows Carter to try to kill Jane. Unsuccessful he probes for a weakness in the FBI team.
4) Kurt and Jane's relationship strengthens through brave actions and shared child hood memories. The team deal with a plot to spread disease to fix overpopulation. One of the team members is revealed to have a gambling problem, the boss continues to deal with threats from the Tom Carter (CIA) over daylight and the analyst opens a potential leak through classified data read by her boyfriend. Jane's identity is again questioned when new biological results suggest she grew up in Africa.
3) Mystery man and another man connected to Jane's past die, one warning her not to trust the FBI and the other says only 'Orion'. Taylor Shaw is confirmed by DNA and the unorthodox nature of her role with the FBI is corrected somewhat by the decision to arm her for field work. A decision made stranger by the initial reluctance of one of the team and the revelation that the management are worried about her knowledge of a program called daylight.
2) A rogue US soil drone operator is the target of the next deciphered tattoo. Jane remembers killing a nun and stealing a drive. Kurt is convinced that Jane is Taylor Shaw whom his dad was convicted of kidnapping when she was 10. The mystery man from Jane's training comes to see her.
1) A surprisingly good start. Tense, taught and very mysterious. Two good leads in FBI Agent Kurt Weller and Jane Doe, the completely amnesic, mystery woman, covered in tattoo clues, dumped in NY in a body bag. Jane learns she speaks Mandarin, has great hand to hand combat skills, is a crack shot and likes coffee. She has Kurt's name tattooed on her back and the tattoo of a spec ops Navy Seal.- 2015 to 2016

Undeniably deserving of all the praise received but a hard show to view in quick succession.

First watched this around 2010. Make-up and action sequences looked bad then and worse now. Plot, dialogue and characters fare better. Though, Whedon's fondness for awkward high school interaction isn't my taste. Nor his tendency to romantically pair older men with youth.
Feminists are quick to claim Buffy as one of theirs. Buffy though is heavily team and Giles dependent. Also interesting is the pushing of atheistic arguments in a world populated by demons and the fear of hell.- 2018

1x08 Creationism - P&T have an easy time arguing in favor of evolution being taught instead of intelligent design. Largely because they focus on extreme Christian views and frame the discussion according to these. Accordingly they have all interviewees advocating young earth creationism, literal Genesis interpretation and the Bible as a substitute to scientific textbooks.
Science is (as P&T point out) the study of the physical world, to produce theories that work. These theories ought never be taught as fact but only pursued as far as they provide benefit. Discussion of a theories usefulness ought to be of foremost importance in teaching science.
P&T's focus on Darwin really believing his theory cleverly avoids the real point - that no scientist holds to Darwin's original view. The evolutionary theory taught in the classroom is incredibly outdated from the actual view of science.
The best theories are able to predict with a high degree of accuracy future occurrence. This also means that they are able to be tested according to this prediction. Evolution, due to the incredibly long time frame and the randomness of the change does not satisfy this criteria. Consequently it is at best a lesser scientific theory. P&T assert it does but give no proof, only rhetoric.
It is unfortunate that the focus of proving evolutionary theory has been on providing genetic code similarity and 'missing link' life forms. Neither does anything to prove or disprove. They show potential steps they do not show transition. The latter not the former is the primary claim of the theory.
On the other hand the scientific consensus that the probability of our world developing to it's current state by randomised process is infinitesimal does cause substantial problems. Thus far science's solution is to propose (without any evidence and incredible skepticism as to whether any proof could be made) infinite parallel universes.
----Season 7------------------------------------------------------
7x10 The Vatican - P&T tackle the child sex abuse scandal and the document set down by Ratzinger (former Pope) in demanding the silence of both victims and perpetrators on any matters. This is their strongest point (and a worthy one).
On the excommunication of practicing homosexuals. The charge of hypocrisy is weak, their statistic estimating the number of secretly gay clergy defines neither credible source nor the term gay (i.e. active or passive. Catechism prohibits the former but makes special requirement to love and help the latter. They insinuate but fail to prove that the Vatican encouraged the continuance of death penalties for gay behaviour. As the Church have frequently condemned persecution of gays whilst maintaining their relationship is sinful.
Also weak is the assertion that the Palpacy is responsible for murdering people due to their stance on safe sex. The Palpacy advocates monogamous heterosexual marriages, within which the transmission of life destroying sexual diseases and conditions is miniscule. They might have had better luck arguing sex ought to be for pleasure not merely reproduction.
The Italian comedian being threatened with jail time (apparently under orders from the Palpacy - though the connection is not demonstrated) for arguing the Pope deserved to go to hell and be raped by large demons undermines their own claims. Firstly the statement is calculated to shock, secondly the charge was thrown out by Rome's government indicating a lack of political power by the Vatican and thirdly Berlusconi was suing her personally for defamatory comments prior to this. At best they demonstrate the Vatican has significant wealth and influence over Catholics not the general populace.- 2014

3) Another musical montage, another exploding head, Wheatus' Chief of Staff (this one on live TV). Promoting Garreth to new Chief of Staff. The FBI continue investigations. The Whip challenge continues but now Luke's competition is infested. Gustav (the footage of the bug creator) visits Laurel to tell her the head explosion is due to bug farts. Producing early tells of struggling to recall important memories and leaking fluid from the ear, as well as that song (You Might Think - The Cars).
Laurel puts Gustav in touch with the female ER tech with continues to date Garreth starting tongues wagging in both parties. Luke's infidelity with Scarlett is revealed to his wife as part of the Whip race. Gustav tries to catch a live bug, using the song as bait. Laurel starts to be tailed by the FBI, who bring her in for questioning, Luke comes in to rescue her. Laurel seems to have secured Luke as Whip and Gustav's cat is now infested.
2) Begins with a fun musical montage recap. Pushes a little more for the gore with more exploding heads (kind of comical, mostly implied) as the Bugs continue to convert people. Luke avoids infestation when he is put off by the adulteress' Scarlets strange advances, another friend of Laurel's isn't so lucky. A chess champ and an ER brain doctor connect the Bugs to the headsplosions. Laurel is fooled again by an assistant to the Republican senator and Luke is likely to be removed as whip due to failing to restore government majority or end the debt standoff.
1) I thought this would be combination gross out horror and low-brow comedy but if the opener is representative I was thoroughly wrong. Cultural music documentary maker Laurel Healy is offered payment of her loans by her father Dean for helping her senator brother Luke to pacify Democratic constituents. On day one she if offered a deal by aide Gareth Ritter that could resolve the budget crisis in Washington between the Republicans and Democrats. But a meteor transported with Luke's finances contains an alien race of brain eating ants (Bugs) that result in a senator crossing the floor throwing the Democrats out.

6) Latani kills Matthews and probably her mistress and escapes to reach the Zone. Koen sends Kora back, a process that turns out to be very easy. It's one of many times in the episode where the growth of Koen doesn't match his capacity, killing the Nimoridor fairly easily and being able to speak the old language he previously couldn't. Koen is also told by Kora his white mother is part of the aboriginal spirit world which clashes with the claim he was a half-caste disowned. They've made such a big deal of race in this series that it's strange this is now just papered over.
Slade's wife discovers her pregnancy is not quite right and Slade himself fails to hold on to Koen after Waruu delivers him for cash and Hairy juice. Slade is also hopped up on the stuff. Waruu gives a stirring speech regarding sticking together (black, white and hairy) against the invading CA but people think he's crazy (even though he's right). He also has to kill a large Hairy in front of everyone when he tries to kill Blair.
Blair feels responsible for the death of the little Hairy girl but the facts just don't support it. He tried to tell Koen not to call in the raid and it was the reckless actions of Djukara that lead to the shooting of his sister. Koen arrives to assume the mantle of Cleverman as the Zone faces the extermination invasion from the CA that has been building to the entire season.
Two Hairy's die in this episode, one while trying to escape the Zone (unarmed), the other while trying to execute Blair. Most of the Hairy's try and force the humans out (even those who want to stay to help), none do anything heroic. If the Hairy's are supposed to be seen as refugees or the mistreated, they're a violent, poorly functioning mob that are difficult to care about. Also the keepers of the Dreaming struggle to do anything good with it, even the killing of the Nimoridor is only necessary because Jimmy made such a hash of things. If the purpose is to generate appreciation for aboriginal culture it's not very effective. Maybe the show isn't really trying to be a political commentary or maybe it just isn't doing a very good job. Still an interesting show.
5) Ash turned to ash, as Blair & KK discover when they return to the bar. Blair forces Koen to tell him he was screwing Ash as he scrapes the remains into a box. Blair reacts strangely (already knowing the truth) with a quiet sort of anger, retreating to the bottle but still accompanying KK to the Zone. Slades wife is made pregnant via his experiments and the foetus grows at an alarming rate.
Matthews is gearing a team up to wipe out the Hairy's in the zone. Koen and Waruu try to tempt the beast (Nimoridor) out but end up fighting each other instead while Waruu's wife (Nerida) finds the footage of him killing the guard. Medicine is insufficient to heal a Hairy child and Koen has to conduct a smoke ceremony to remove the spirit of the Hairy girl who died as a result of his actions. Kora needs to be sent back as well somehow.
4) The beast that took Jimmy is now killing nursing home folk. It seems like Koen is supposed to kill it with the club Jimmy gave him. Waruu's actions (breaking out the boys) and sleeping with the reporter (Belinda) bite him. Senator Mathews pays for sex with Latani. Djukara goes back to the prison but it's now empty. Slade is experimenting on human's with Hairy DNA (taken from Bundi) and after early deaths he successfully treats himself and sends in muscle to get Kora and Koen. The muscle is shot as is Ash (who reacts strangely to the touch of KK). Blair & KK flee the club.
3) A recon mission turns into an unplanned escape attempt when Waruu's body guard releases Djukara and two other boys from their cell. Prison authorities stage the guard killed in the escape to look like a victim of the same beast that killed Jimmy. Their idea of Hairy savagery, except that the kill was Waruu's via a broken neck. Djukara was shot and the Zone's resident medical help is ill equipped until her husband Slade reveals knowledge regarding Hairy blood transfusions. Slade tries to approach Koen to pick up where Jimmy left off but he's dealing with visions of Ash's apparent death and Kora (the facility girl who is also an old woman?).
2) Waruu's media opportunity to speak out on Jarrod Slade's TV network is ruined when a young boy is taken by whatever killed Jimmy. He ends his affair with journalist Leeanna but not before his daughter finds out. His half brother Koen was also born of a white woman. Koen rescues the girl calling to him from a strange facility. The Hairy family remains split up. Beatings at the prison can't tame Djukara until he is shaved and his father Bundi is shocked. Latani is taken from the prison by a mysterious woman and her free daughter Araluen is helped to blend in by a much kindlier old lady.
Cleverman describes itself as being a commentary on discrimination so it seems appropriate to more deeply reflect on its content. Koen is a half-caste Aboriginal bullied by his peers in the Zone but outside he runs a bar and has close white friends, including seemingly a shared sexual partner. Waruu is a full blood Aboriginal, with no education, a self-appointed tribal leader and expecting to be gifted the role of his elder Jimmy. He's also a bully to his younger brother and unfaithful to his wife (Nerida), with a white woman.
This makes the media sequence particularly strange - a bully and a philanderer, preaching fair treatment and compassion. His pride for his Aboriginal heritage - shown correcting the interviewer on Dreamtime, being the Dreaming (present tense) has given him a victim complex. Unable to see that his poor treatment is a mere shadow of the terrible treatment of the Hairy's. This makes for interesting TV but doesn't push the message (I think is) intended.
The only Aboriginal member of the Zone who is successful and productive is Koen and he got that way by leaving his home (and to a great extent) his heritage and integrating with those outside. Waruu is really just spinning his wheels - desperately trying to stop the inevitable raid. The Hairy's are a strange amalgamation of boat people and Aboriginals. Again, interesting characters but confusing messaging.
Having the Hairy's originate within Australia works against tackling refugee issues. Relocating is much easier than crossing borders and smugglers would be known to the Zone residents as well as the the fate of those who were smuggled (they get the same news and human residents of the Zone work outside it). There's also no reason given why human residents can't leave the Zone to make more space for the Hairy's.
1) Jimmy is the uncle of two brothers: Koen a young bar owner who profits from selling out Hairy's who he promises to safely relocate from the Zone and Waruu West who is struggling to keep tensions between Hairy's and humans in the zone from boiling over. When Jimmy is killed in a mythical and savage manner the younger brother Koen, surprisingly receives the Cleverman mantle. Allowing him healing regeneration.
The West brother's are acted very well in this and the central plot is interesting. Though the whole thing is threatened by the heavy handedness of the preaching. The Hairy's are referred to as Subhuman's in the media and treated poorly, the Zone is essentially a refugee camp and the rest are locked up in gendered prisons. Branded with numbers. A young one is separated from her parents and ends up shot during a raid by police.
I suspect you are supposed to pity them, except they are faster, stronger, older and seemingly just as smart. Some of them are even magical. And they are (at least when provoked) every bit as violent as they are accused of. A female decks a guy, a male takes out two other men in a brawl, another male beats down a half dozen police and yet another male snaps a man's finger off for gesturing at him. How were they confined to the Zone? Guns?

3x03 with it's mix of Noir style detective caper spoof and lab partner change up is quite good. 3x04 is an interesting parrallel universe what-if with some of the kookiness that made the first season so enjoyable. 3x05 is a solid halloween inspired insight into the main cast.
3x07 is a decidedly feel good episode, where the whole team finds some common ground in their own crazy way. After the fractures explored in the first half of the season it makes a nice change.
3x08 and 3x09 return to fracturing the group. The first is a fracture between the Dean and the study group as he becomes a dictatorial director. The second fracture is between Jeff and Shirley, which ultimately ends in both characters growing. Both of the episodes Abed solves some of the tension in his peculiar fashion.
Unfortunately 3x09 lumps two ideas together that don't really fit and ultimately feels like there's note enough substance to either. 3x10 is a Christmas special, and given is both funny and somewhat informative of the season.
3x12 sees Jeff going nuts as a result of ego exposure as a result of a rediculous Abed scream. Blanket forts are everywhere in the expansive but not quite realised 3x14 Pillows & Blankets.
3x15 Origins of Vampire Mythology, has nothing to do with vampires and isn't funny. 3x16 Virtual Systems Analysis, though is vintage Abed.
3x17 Basic Lupine Urology, is a very funny Law & Order Spoof. 3x18 Course Listing Unavailable is bittersweet. 3x19 Curriculum Unavailable begins to unravel the chaos of the group's expulsion.
3x20 Digital Estate Planning is probably the best episode of the series thanks to original Abed. 3x21 The First Chang Dynasty finally sees Chang ousted. 3x22 Introduction to Finality tidies everything up.

6) A pattern of only child survivors of vicious parent killings leads back to an abused boy and an axe. Chaz and Constantine clean it up.
5) Three violent spirits have two things in common: guilt-ridden ladies and Papa Midnight. Constantine and Papa go after the source whilst Zed and Sheriff Jim Corrigan keep hitch-hiking wraith busy. Chaz spends his time being stabbed by an ex-model with shears. Constantine is warned that someone close to him will herald the darkness.
4) After the events in Newcastle with Astra, Gary took a drug-filled trip to Sudan. Unfortunately he brought a hunger demon in the shape of inside eating bugs back with him. Stopping it requires Zed's visions, an ancient knife stolen from a museum exhibit and Gary as willing sacrifice. A particularly dark episode. That angel is back but does nothing to help with the suffering.
3) With Zed's visions and Constantine's bag of tricks they try to undo a devilish contract involving a blues record of the voice of Lucifer and a Voodoo gangster Papa Midnight. That pesky black angel shows up again and Zed is almost certainly not working for the police.
2) Constantine heads to a small mining town to take care of some unexpected miners deaths; flash fries and cave-ins. The work of generally harmless spirits controlled by a gypsy. It's an easy fix, more puzzling is working out what to do about Zed, the girl with the pictures who just saved his life.
1) Constantine isn't a hero. He's a man who knows his soul is probably already damned, searching for his dead mother and a girl named Astra he lost in a bad demon gamble. He also owes a few favors. The first one is to a mysterious man's (helmet suggests Dr Fate) daughter who can see the demon world with the help of an artifact. He saves her from the electric demon but deliberately scares her away.
He doesn't work well with others, even his close friend Chaz (who might just be immortal) doesn't exactly like him and now he's being asked to help out the angels who damned him in the first place. A mysterious girl is drawing pictures of him, guess he'll meet her soon.

----Season 5
12) Daria and Tom are rumored to have slept together. They didn't but the problem is Daria kind of thinks they should have. But they don't.
11) Daria discovers a competitive drive in seeking college scholarship. An unwieldy, surprisingly PC episode with no twist.
10) Erica (mum) is guilt tripped in to handling a relative's divorce settlement. Things go so poorly, Daria is friendly towards Quinn.
9) Jane tries dating a 40s-style hipster. Then returns to the present.
8) Daria's concerns Tom won't cope with Jake are upturned with an episode in male bonding; squirrel catching and go-kart racing.
7) Sibling's tale has Jane working to pay the man and Trent playing the man to get a gazebo rebuilt. Fashion Club hunt caricaturist scalp.
6) Daria is forced to take Quinn's class due to a staff strike. And they might just be sisters. Excellent episode.
Li: "I am proud to introduce a substitute with tolerable credentials and who is far less liable to engender a law suit that could cost me my very pants."
Daria: "Hello, my name is Miss Darlene and I'll be your new teacher.
5) Daria enters a writing competition at Tom's encouragement and does not handle the rejection well. Meanwhile the fashionistas give up on their work for the people.
Fashion Club: "This volunteering is going to be a lot of work."
Stacey: "I know someone should really pay us for it."
Jane: "You're willing to have it published and read by strangers but you don't want you're best friend to read it?"
Daria: "Thank you for understanding."
4) Camp Grizzly re-union. Explains where Quinn got her sass, Daria got her lonerism and the Spiral lives.
3) Fashion club leader Sandy's leg break becomes something truly devastating when she gains some weight. Quinn whips her in to shape.
Quinn: "You won't believe what I'm about to say."
Daria: "Best save your breath then."
2) Quinn's calendar keeping of Daria and Tom's anniversary is going to be a problem.
1) Daria becomes an unlikely agent for change when she stands alone against the terrors of Ultra Cola marketing takeover at Londale High.
----Season 4
13) A bad hair day brings the duo's brewing love triangle with Tom to a head.
Daira: "That's why I suggested the donuts. Adds a personal touch."
12) An accidental fire at the Morgendorfer's sees them take a week at a hotel. Quinn capitalises on a bell boys affections and Daria stays with Jane complicating things with Tom.
11) Quinn has a guardian angel crisis in an episode that humorously tackles human expectations of the spiritual world - even if it leans a little too far to the skeptics.
10) A series of scary story vignettes make one of the better episodes of the season.
Jake: "Now you've gone and scared your sister. You know how she worries that a lack of survivors will effect her popularity."
9) Supermart emergency! BBQ sauce for the sportsters, scented candles for Mystik Spiral, apology for Tom and Gummi Bears for the titular duo.
8) Psychological evaluation for the Morgendorfer's to see if Mum is partner material at the firm.
Quinn: "That's disgusting, chocolate cake for breakfast?"
Daria: "It's too early for lunch."
7) A planned conference to drum up business for Jake's latest venture turns into an unexpected father-daughter bonding session.
6) A float parade demonstrates the insanity of man. And makes things awkward between Tom and Daria.
5) Mr. O'Neil's lone enthusiasm for the psycho babble of a teaching conference sees him set the students with the task of failing - in order to comfort themselves. It goes terribly.
O'Neil: "You girls should consider a career in motivational speaking."
Jane: "Only if I don't have to do anything."
4) Kevin and his fellow footballer test scores (except Mack's) are unusually high and Daria dreams about solving his probable murder.
Daria: "Sorry, my support groups have a membership limit of 1"
3) A rebel phase and a motorcycle accident sees Kevin take a short term as a safety motorcycle speaker before the fallout forces him back into the starring role of QB.
2) Field trip into the woods, met by bad weather goes as badly as you'd expect.
1) Jane's time with Tom is dominating conversation and causes Daria to act up and seek a new work-partner. Only to upset Jodie with criticisms of her race approach to obtaining a loan.
----Season 3
13) Jane meets Tom, that and asking Trent to help her and Daria on a multi-media project is cause for musical and romantic tension.
Teacher: "Have you considered homeopathy?"
Jane: "I think I'll stick with guys for now."
12) School cruise, combines with a Morgendorfer domestic, Quinn seeking a model data, Daria and Jane looking for sleep and a gambling teacher - result disaster.
11) Arrival of government agents at Londale, Trent playing happy music and a misunderstanding of alternative meanings for 'alien' lead to a temporary galactic conspiracy.
Jane: "So you finally convinced your dad your not a communist?"
Daria: "Yes I've been hitting him up for money every chance I get."
10) Daria gets her license which comes in handy when she and Quinn have to travel to bail Jane and Mystik Spiral out in a spoof of modern day Westerns.
9) Jake (Dad) has a heart-attack that causes a temporary re-ordering of priorities. Quinn studies heart-surgery material, Mum takes up home-making and it's up to Daria to put it all back together.
Daria: "I may have had a hand in her epiphany."
Jane: "Ewww... I hope you washed that hand."
8) The many children of the Lanes return from their anti-social pursuits and in so doing cause Trent and Jane to try life at the Morgendorfers.
Mrs Lane: "Children are like butterflies. If you hold a butterfly too tightly in your hands it will die. If you let it go, it may fly away and someday it may return and if it never does - it was never truly yours."
7) Career's counselling by computer at Londale leads to some less than stellar suggestions which prompts Mum to force Quinn (Pet Shop Assistant) and Daria (Nutty Nutty World) to take jobs.
Career Suggestion: "Your lack of interest in personal interaction makes you an ideal candidate for working with the dead."
Mum: "I can't believe you're not more ambitious."
Daria: "You want me to kill people to drum up business?"
Quinn: "Does anyone notice anything special about me?"
Daria: "Yes, from just the right angle I really can see through your head."
6) Sensitive Mr O'Neil unbeknownst to Daria enters her writing in a magazine contest and the result is being forced to spend the day with the horrible, vain, 30-something, pretend teen product Val. Daria handles it with her usual charm.
O'Neil: "You'll never guess who I have on the phone."
Daria: "That's why they cancelled my psychic hotline."
5) When the fashion club gang up on Quinn she ends up saddled with organising the dance until Jane takes it on to produce a memorial to Jackson Pollocks car crash.
4) Absurd but excellent, the teenage Holidays are trying to get the band back to Holiday Island and enlist the help of Daria and Jane.
Guy Fawkes Day: "I'm a teenage holiday and it sucks!"
3) Enforced 'volunteering' at Londale sees Jane helping with arts and crafts at the children's hospital and Daria reading to the elderly. Jane immediately takes to the task, until an overly realistic cowboy scene sees her kicked out. Daria though struggles until she finds an old lady with an appreciation for more than looks and tone of voice.
Mum: "That's a great idea, I'll go through my closet and see if there's anything to give."
Quinn: "Your closet?! Haven't the homeless suffered enough?"
2) Great episode with Daria playing the unexpected vanity role when she decides to give contacts a go.
1) Musical number that hasn't aged that well - Daria, Jane, Bridget and Kevin are stuck in a hurricane on the school roof.
----Season 2
13) Daria is given a challenging writing assignment.
Mum: "You're very good at talking about what's happening but when it comes to saying what you wish happened - you make a cynical comment and no one ever finds out what your really think."
Mum: "It's a funny thing, turns out when you give birth to someone, sometimes you like to keep tabs on them."
12) Daria's crush on Trent results in a belly ring. Quinn and Mum enter a school fashion show. Things go poorly and Quinn tries to brighten her life by getting Daria in trouble - but it's grown over.
11) A jealousy rift develops between Daria and Jane when the latter demonstrates a surprisingly talent for track. Combination of a corrupt grades racket for sports stars and attacks on Daria leads Jane to quit and things return to normal.
Teacher: "You and your sisters are so alike. Middling nobodies."
Jane: "We share chromosomes but the rest I'll have to leave up to the courts."
10) A cave-in on the library roof leads to a Medieval Fundraiser. The accompanying play has Quinn as the main attraction but her friends and Britney sabotage the event.
Teacher: "Why do you think Tolstoy made War & Peace so confronting?"
Daria: "So no-one would request a sequel?"
9) Daria meets Britney at a Mystic Spiral gig before breaking out in a mysterious rash. Strange high-school secrecy deals are made before everyone ends up at the hospital and Daria learns the rash is triggered by anxiety over Trent.
Jane: "The important thing is that instead of coming to your friends you ran out into the dark screaming for help."
8) Daria and Jodie take a trip for Londale High to visit a premiere school. Whilst their parents trip over racial political correctness they decide that the scholarship isn't worth it. Quinn finds her social circle too shallow to stay the night and ends up at Jane's, who is very happy to return her come morning.
Jodie: "You know that your cynical attitude is self-defeating?"
Daria: "It's nice to know I can beat someone."
7) New kid Ted is earnest in that repressed kind of home-school way and over Yearbook preparation Daria and he hit it off. Daria's decision to take him to the arcade and Quinn's Machiavellian schemes see Ted's star rise and Daria return to normalcy.
Jane: "I told you first date, stick to loitering and vandalism but you had to be different."
6) A class film project sees Daria and Jane looking for a subject - Quinn. They capture the footage necessary to skewer her but Daria decides to take the compassionate route - and feeds the monster.
Quinn: "Don't you just want to shoot me?"
5) Old hippy friends stay with the Morgendorfers. Daria quits the reminiscing to help Trent and Jane sell some old records. Quinn finds the hippy boy to be totally uninterested in her wiles and consequently finds him very interesting.
Daria: "At least they were firm believers in voluntary simplicity."
Trent: "I'm totally going to use that. Sounds much better than broke."
4) Wedding trouble, when the Morgendorfers attend a family wedding and find as befits all such beautiful occasions mostly pain and resentment. Introduces Aunt Amy, whose dry wit obviously found the way to Daria.
Jake: "I still don't know why I couldn't bring my clubs."
Helen: "We're going to spend time with family, not have fun."
3) To avoid being held back in English, Quinn taps a modicum of her intellectual capacity and turns in a half decent essay. Which because of the bigotry of low expectations receives an A and cash from the parents. When she discovers that keeping up the 'ruse' is a means towards influence she carries on, until Daria is fed up with being displaced and takes on Quinn's old identity to force her to change back.
Daria: "If you're going to reminisce, I'm going to have to call child services."
2) A class paintball trip for the purposes of studying warfare divulges into a mess when rain curtails the experiment. Britney demonstrates a surprisingly military knack, teachers hook up and when the rain clears Daria's parents and the president of the fashion club are left high and dry. Perhaps Quinn is now the new president?
1) Daria and Jane are strong-armed into entering a Student Life art competition. When their entry is deemed artistically beautiful but damaging in message, their work is entered against their will with adjustment to the text. Ironically Daria's workaholic lawyer mum inadvertently solves the problem.
Principal Li: "Did you girls honestly think you were going to get away with it."
Jane: "Well it would be stupid to say yes, now."
----Season 1
13) The death of a visiting former QB from Londale High has Daria being treated as the local psychiatrist because she's the misery chick.
Mum: "Can't you smile just once when someone takes a picture. People judge you by your external appearance."
Daria: "I know, it's a corrupt system and that's why I'm doing everything to fight it."
12) The Morgendorfers go camping to calm Jake's (Dad) stress levels but everyone other than Daria take psychotropic berries and she has to call for help. Jane and Trent go to a family gathering of their own where they are all nuts without the berries.
11) Introduces Trent's band-mate Jesse when Daria and Jane break down in a van on the way to Alternapalooza.
10) Family court see's the girls grounded for a month. Surprisingly Daria cracks first but manages to negotiate new conditions by convincing her parents she's too boring to worry about. Which might be true.
9) It's amazing how little the important topics have changed (or maybe just me?). Quinn wants to get plastic surgery to fix unseen problems and Kevin is made uglier in a vicious experiment by his male-hating feminazi of a teacher. You know, for science.
8) To avoid being present during couples therapy, Daria covers for Quinn at her babysitting gig - which provides an unexpected opportunity for practical psychology in deprogramming.
Teacher - "Daria your paper was excellent. Although the original research would be considered illegal in most states."
7) Positive or negative reinforcement lab rat experiments cause Daria and Kevin (QB) to pair up whilst Britney (CL) does the bidding for rich unpopular jerk, Upchuck. Daria games the system by phrasing her research in a way sympathetic to her man-hating divorcee of a teacher.
6) A modelling agency comes to Londale High and the Principle whose all about the money and prestige is right on board until she finds out it's a bit sexual. Daria breaks the idiocy by calling in a team of recruiting Millitary Mercenaries and a media group. Quinn is sure she would have been the #1 model, but they go with quarterback Kevin who finds out what suffering is.
Mum "You really care about this, don't you."
Daria "Why?"
Mum "You're talking to us."
5) Weaker episode where Daria uses a school field trip to the mega mall to blackmail her sister into a months worth of chores.
4) Daria is forced to do extra-curricular work by the school. Quinn takes the opportunity to sell phone service using questionable tactics but Jane and Daria are worried about the health of the lady trying to buy all the chocolate. Daria make her extra credit instead by a reading of a story, that just so happens to inspire a communist riot.
Daria - "We must be hyper-vigilant against those who would make us do things against our will."
3) The sisters take a trip to their parents old college, where Daria starts a side business writing term papers and Quinn becomes keg queen. Leaving Daria convinced college is a waste of time.
2) Quinn gets invited to Britney (cheer-leader) party by Kevin. But Britney invited Daria who Jane convinces to go.
Britney - "We're not that different. We have plenty in common."
Daria - "Breathing?"
1) Daria & Quinn are two sisters who move to a new school and their parents are wondering how they'll get on. Quinn immediately ascends to the top of the social ladder and Daria flunks a useless psychology exam and is forcefully enrolled in self esteem classes where she meets Jane. Loved this show as a kid, the content remains funny viewing but rather than absurd now it's a documentary.
Daria - "What's going on, it's 3? You're home early."
Mum - "Nonsense anything for my daughters self esteem."
Daria - "I'm in the care of experts, the touch of an amateur could really mess everything up."- 2016

Funny stuff. - CreatorTensai OkamuraStarsJason LiebrechtKate OxleyChristopher SabatIn Tokyo, an impenetrable field known as "Hell's Gate" appeared ten years ago. At the same time, psychics who wield paranormal powers at the cost of their conscience also emerged.Season 1x23:
The mythology of this series is gripping. An event in Tokyo (Hell's Gate) results in the empowerment of incredibly violent and dangerous fore human's known as "Contractors". Able to complete acts of horrendous power provided they pay their price afterwards. Each Contractor has a star that shines brighter or dimmer depending on their activity giving those chasing them just a glimmer of a chance. Each episode is beautifully told and characters are developed well.
As the series progresses further, it delves into foreign and local politics, astronomy and spy craft. All told with an elegance complemented by the score and almost off center visuals. Little tidbits are drip fed to the viewer regarding different characters, the result is a compelling, well crafted series. - StarsJim CummingsTerence McGovernChristine CavanaughA bumbling superhero battles crime with the help of his daughter and pilot sidekick.

OVER IT
Bad knock-off plots poorly written & SJW nonsense. The Doctor is dead.
02: Pitch Black-esque race reunites the gang with the TARDIS. Doctress is still a knock-off Matt Smith. Plot is still a cobbled mess.
01: A Predator-lite thriller leaves the Doctress with 3 new companions: balance disabled black lad, police-in-training arab girl & white retired bus driver. Many poor decisions leave the bus driver a spinster & them all stranded in space.
Doctress has hitherto hidden agility & mechanical skills. Building a brand new screwdriver & space traversing teleport in a humble mechanical garage. A penchant for rainbows & a new found concern for fairness. A real Mary Sue.
She can also preach to camera about why you can change and still be who you are. Whoever that is.
- 2018
-----Season 10-----------------------------------------------
Twice Upon a Time (Christmas Special) -
Poorly connected components: time freezing, glass aliens, current Doctor meets first Doctor, Bill returning, a good Dalek and spontaneous singing of carols during WWI. And the Doctor becomes a woman - 2018 I guess.
Bill's acting is worse than ever though the Doctor's pre-transformation speech comes close. The English WWI soldier is well acted. The first Doctor returns so the show can preach about the horrors of non-PC language. Progressive sermons about current generation enlightenment make even less sense when presented by characters who aren't confined by time and space.
12) Bill, despite being a Cyberman is given the chance to emote by presenting her mind's eye view of her old self. Whether it's an issue with the actress (Pearl Mackie) or the character it's awful. The bizarre return of the water nymph to spirit her away is particularly bad. Now possessing super powers to rearrange matter and fly through space.
Missy and Master amount to nothing. After flirting with themself they stab each other in the back. Missy is denied her desire to stand one last time with the Doctor. The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) is a side show in his own series. His 'plan' is 90% executed by Nadole (Matt Lucas - excellent again). Whereupon the Doctor is whisked away by Bill to safety, leaving Nadole and the children to likely die. Terrible ending!
11) A black hole is doing funny things to time on board a space ship. Bill dies during a test where Missy gets to play Doctor. Only to be resurrected as a Cyberman as a result of combined scheming by Missy and the returning Master.
10) A light eating monster is responsible for the disappearance of the 9th Roman Legion. Crows talk to the Doctor and Missy performs TARDIS maintenance.
9) Victorian British Soldiers hunting treasures provoke war with an Ice Queen of Mars. The coward leader has a decent arc. Again Bill is bad.
8) The Monk's rewrite the history to form a modern day dystopia borrowing heavily from Orwell's 1984. Missy, Nadole and the Doctor are all well handled but the weak character of Bill can't fill the role left.
7) A mysterious Pyramid sees the world powers consenting to the help of the dead monks from Ep6. But only Bill's consent is pure, giving the Doctor back his eyesight in exchange for control of the world.
6) Complex and well executed tale combining the Catholic Church, C.E.R.N and artificial simulations. The Doctor is emailed a warning from a simulated version of himself - a serious enemy is coming. Will his decision to imprison Missy in the vault rather than execute help?
5) Decent space horror mystery. Despite a weak ending and a pointless diatribe against Capitalism. The Doctor saves Bill but returns blind.
"I'm here, I'm guarding the vault, what do you want from me?" - Dr.
"The truth." - Nadole
"Don't be unreasonable." - The Doctor
4) MISSED
3) Bill's whiny, complaining character, a very PC script and comically poor CGI make this alien whale in the Thames caper a weak one. At least the mystery in the basement seems promising.
2) MISSED
1) Bill (Pearl Mackie) becomes the latest companion of the Doctor when she is hunted by her girl crush made time travelling liquid.- 2017
-----Season 9-------------------------------------------------
(1) The season starts with the level of hubbub usually reserved for a finale. Missy (one of the best villains in a long time), Clara and the Doctor are back with a dizzying variety of aliens. The opening episode sets up a mammoth task to meet a satisfying resolution. (2) A feat achieved pretty well in the follow up episode.
(3) has ghosts, distress beacons, underwater military bases - all usual Doctor fare - until the Doctor joins the enemy. (4) does a decent job of resolving the conflict but the 1st part is definitely the better half.
(5) A change in gears, with a smaller story, a viking village in peril from one of the most powerful forces in the galaxy (Maya). A clever plan and a clever girl save the day - only to see the girl die and returned to life in a manner leaving her wishing for death?
(6) See's the Doctor temporarily Clara-less and to fill the void he stumbles across the girl who should have died (Ishilda). Long life has got the better of her but events unfold to snap her out of it. It ends with the possibility of another hybrid and the intriguing set-up for a new relationship. Ishilda becomes the one who looks after the Doctors left behinds.
(7) continues the run of double episodes with cliff hangers involving the Doctor's apparent demise. A lot of bodies fall in this return to a previous season's storyline regarding shape shifting Zygon's. (8) It might be the best conclusion episode of the series thus far. Plenty of surprises but less convenient and better scripted - the interplay between human and Zygon is investigated - with both Clara's and even with both Osgood's. The Osgood Box conundrum is brilliantly acted by Peter Capaldi and written.
(9) really plays up the horror angle in a bizarre caper about the dangers of avoiding sleep. It's creepy tone is infectious and the final reveal is neat (even if I did pick it very early on).
(10) A friend of Clara's (Rigsy) calls the Doctor about a countdown tattoo. A refuge camp for aliens on earth leads to Ishilda - working at the behest of someone to entrap the Doctor and leading to the demise of Clara. It's a bold first act with great interplay between the three main-stays.
(11) Capaldi has his work cut out for him here - having to carry the entire episode alone, navigating his way through a seemingly impossible trial of fear. The repetitive set-up is resolved well. The Doctor is revealed to be the Hybrid of prophecy and his last will and testament (the dial) a means to enter Galifrey.
(12) The season concludes bittersweet as it had to. The rulers of Gallifrey are revealed to have set the Doctor up. Apparently the dial is a standard Timelord method for uploading one's consciousness at the end of lives. It's use as a torture device leaves the Doctor angry. His war hero status grants him certain privileges which he uses to try to save Clara, but she and Ishilda set him straight. After a game of memory roulette, Clara and Ishilda take a TARDIS and leave the Doctor with the TARDIS and stories replacing memories.- 2015
----Season 8 ------------------------------------------------------------
Deep Breath (8x01). Peter Capaldi debuts as The Doctor with a returning Clara (Jenna Coleman) and appearances by Madame Vastra (Lizard), Jenny Flint & Strax. It's an odd episode, with a much older and darker Doctor, less manic but more addled. No-one seems quite themselves and the result is a collection of too many concepts that feel unpolished and inconsistent.
Into the Dalek (8x02) is a really good episode. Simpler in construction, with less premises and both Capaldi and Coleman play their roles much better. A good deal of humour as and well acted introspection. The morality of Dalek's and the Doctor are both explored well. A decent episode exploring the legend of Robin Hood (Robot of Sherwood 8x03) follows.
A creepy and ultimately rewarding episode (8x04 Listen) harks back to the minimalist excellence of the series' so long ago. Capaldi, Coleman and the writing team produce another gem with 8x05 Time Heist a quite literally mind-bending romp that is part Time Machine part Ocean's 11.
The Caretaker (8x06) is less about another Doctor run in with a killer alien force and more about the development of Clara's boyfriend Mr. Pink and the Doctor's distaste for soldiers. It doesn't feel as complete as some of the other offerings but it does serve to reinforce the central question of the series "Is the Doctor a good man?"
Kill the Moon (8x07) is a strange and muddled affair, as the solution could have been implemented by the Doctor immediately and the viewer is left to wonder why. This causes a tension between Clara and the Doctor which feels somewhat arbitrary. Mummy on the Orient Express (8x08) is a much stronger and more focused effort.
Flatline (8x09) has Clara filling in for the Doctor and doing a fine job. It's a well made episode with some interesting dimensional effects and continues the trend of asking "Is the Doctor a good man?" Mr. Pink discovers some of what Clara has been keeping from him regarding the Doctor in a logically haphazard and over green message themed In the Forest of the Night (8x10).
Dark Water (8x11) has Clara and the Doctor heading to the afterlife to rescue a loved one. It also has some excellent dialogue and possibly the most twisted central idea tackled in the season. The Finale (8x12) is as wickedly off beat with Mistress/ Master and the Doctor once again going toe to toe.
-----Season 7---------------------------------------------------------
7x06 to 7x08, 7x10 to 7x13
-----Season 6-------------------------------------------------------
A mysterious spaceman (6x01 - The Impossible Astronaut) start's the season well alongside Doctor (Matt Smith), River Song & Amy Pond. River Song is excellent again and the season contains some solid moments (6x08 - Let's Kill Hitler, 6x10 - The Girl Who Waited).
-----Season 5--------------------------------------------------------
A new Doctor (Matt Smith) and a new companion (Amy Pond). Some great pseudo-historical episodes involving Winston Churchill (5x03 - Victory of the Daleks) and Vincent Van Gogh (5x10 - Vincent and the Doctor). River Song is a most engaging character and really carries the season. The Weeping Angel's return but can't quite convey the level of menace from their debut. Unfortunately the season ends weakly due to a cheap resolution.
-----Season 4--------------------------------------------------------
Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) joins David Tennant, her character being much more brash (at times annoying) than either Martha or Rose. Even so excellent writing and acting result in some brilliant episodes (4x03 - Planet of the Ood, 4x08 - Silence in the Library, 4x11 - Turn Left) and the scariest and best episode ever put to screen (4x10 - Midnight).
-----Season 3----------------------------------------------------------
David Tennant now journeys with Martha Jones. One of the best episodes in the reboot (3x10 - Don't Blink) introduces the Weeping Angels. The Doctor's nemesis The Master (John Simm) ends the season with style.
-----Season 2--------------------------------------------------------
David Tennant (Doctor) joins Billie Piper for this season. The solid writing continues even if a little of the Doctor's edge is lost under Tennant's involvement.
-----Season 1----------------------------------------------------------
Of the new doctor's Chris Eccleston is so far my favorite and this is his only season. He successfully captures the wackiness but also the just below the surface darkness that makes the character so compelling. Billie Piper (Rose) is a very solid companion. Captain Jack Harkness also debut's in this season as do the Dalek's. Great episodes throughout.
-----Specials ---------------------------------------------------------
Return of Doctor Mysterio - Really stretching the definition of 'Christmas Special' this is what happens when DW takes inspiration from comic books. Highly humorous romp where the alien brains come to destroy the earth play second fiddle to a male maid who moonlights as superhero The Ghost.
The Husbands of River Song - River Song returns as the archaeologist (thief) out to snag the galaxy's most precious diamond. Which is buried in the head of a notorious space king (warlord). Which is attached to a violent version of the Big Hero 6 robot. So she asks for a surgeon (and gets a Doctor).

-----The Power of the Daleks --------------------------------------
A classic from 1966 this series was recreated using the original sound and hand drawn animations after the loss of the original footage. The animation style is very clunky and the sound FX have dated poorly. The pacing also feels incredibly slow. Did not make it past Ep 1.
1) The Doctor looks and acts like a different person, concerning his travelling companions (Ben & girl). Travelling by TARDIS to planet Vulcan where the examiner from earth is murdered, they assume his mantle and unlock a capsule releasing a Dalek.- 2016

Following his fall from grace in London, eccentric Sherlock escapes to New York where his father forces him to live with his worst nightmare - a sober companion, Dr. Watson.A modern day variant on the famous Detective Holmes. The most daring change to the legend being the addition of a female Dr. Watson (Lucy Liu, in rare fine form). Indeed the two central characters (as well as some memorable supporting cast) are what keep the viewer going back.

----Season 4:
24) Sherlock deals with the bomb easily and they determine the source is a diplomat in Vikner's organisation. Senior tries to broker a deal but Vikner will accept only his head. Sherlock tries to frame Vikner through the FBI who receiving a cell phone signal ping arrive to a meeting spot in time to find Vikner dead at the scene. Senior emerges as the reluctant leader of the group with plans to dismantle it from inside. He leaves New York but not before trying to drive a wedge between Sherlock and Watson.
23) The duo determine a new successor is pulling strings of Moriaty's old operation, the father of her child, a mathematics professor Vikner. Vikner proves to be quite capable, bombing Senior's office, killing the bomber before testifying and planting another bomb in the Brownstone.
22) Senior becomes suspect number 1, when Watson's mole, Emille shows up dead in a diner. He acquits himself by providing access to the necessary files but also reveals he did not know Watson was playing him until that morning. Instead Emille and others are victims of a psychopath vetting survey being used to locate untapped killers for hire. Just as the case is closing Holmes notices a familiar pattern, a series of code names used by Moriaty.
21) A car jacking gone wrong is actually a double homicide arranged by a spurned spouse. Watson's mole deal in Senior's office come crashing down when he ends up dead not before Holmes becomes suspicious of her frequent absences.
20) A break-in at the gallery of an artist who 'repurposes' social media photos results in a slew of overturned convictions... and two new ones in solving the murders of two college women. Joan extends the olive branch to her sister.
19) Two surprises: the character in the opening doesn't end up dead (although another murder happens later) and the young Asian realtor, running illegal poker games attended by Turkish spies, who comes to the Brownstone with a bullet wound and a wad of stolen cash is Watson's half sister.
18) A missing doctor suspected of philandering is of course dead (murder being something of a guaranteed crutch in the series). The duo follow drug dealers, preppers and finally doctors to nail the perpetrator. Holmes is irritable at a lack of bedroom activity which surprisingly Jane ends.
17) A Nightwing-esque vigilante is gunned down and the duo trawl through drug dealers and comic fiends to find the killer only to discover he really was a hero. Joan is coaxed by Senior to check his employees for a mole, she tells him everything is fine and instead begins working the culprit as her own source.
16) It's brave to tackle the Hound of the Baskervilles (considering BBC Sherlock's excellent episode). A military robot misused for murder by a mystery heir makes for a surprisingly simple case. The coroner (after the death of a very good friend) in the morgue explosion takes Sherlock's warning of the drug fueled abyss seriously and resigns to seek help.
15) A falling old lady and a dodgy engineering job are connected in the solving of the latest case. The Captain commits to dating a former disgraced detective who has recently been diagnosed with MS.
14) A mortician with a penchant for disguise, shotguns a set of Triad members. The duo's subsequent investigation leads to a charity swindling murder scheme at an old age home. Sherlock determines the killer of Senior's lover and his late mother (May's) drug struggles.
13) Mushrooms and synthetic poisons point towards intellectual property disputes but the real culprit is love. Watson discovers the newly noisy neighbors are the result of an old email address for Holmes and patches things up.
12) An undercover cop, is shot on camera and the duo are called in to find a way in to the Biker's clubhouse. It's a case of false sets and double crosses. Sherlock begins to court an autistic programmer (Jane?) who helped them on a previous case.
11) An exploding body sent to the morgue leads the duo down a path of roller derby, domestic abuse, dark obsessions and plastic explosive. Watson is requested to assist her sparring adversary, when the man she is looking for is severely beat up she suspects the cop.
10) Higher education debt is being used as a means to coerce former criminals to return to violent acts. The duo pin the racket on the head of a shady university. Holmes also digs into the attempt on Senior's life and determines he was initially suspected and that Lukas' predecessor was killed to hide his connection to the assassin.
9) A complicated plot regarding a drive by and self-driving car software misses opportunities to develop an understanding of the duo's character. However a side plot causes Watson to suspect Senior was the victim of an assassination attempt which is likely to reoccur.
8) The suffocation of a mother to be leads to a real estate agent affair, her serial killer father and finally her brother. The duo trick Bell into solving a different case though, providing him with some equity to look after his mother and a chance to skip the pain of being a sergeant.
7) The wood chipping of a retired FBI agent lead the duo to question the identity of a returned kidnap victim Mina. The imposter's ruse is so compelling that Sherlock despite finding the real Mina is unable to correctly identify her or be certain she was responsible for the murder she will be tried for.
6) A strange episode as Holmes and Senior chase down the leads on a case involving a former French special ops sniper. So convincing is Senior's portrayal of humanity that Holmes is second guessing his former position on the man. Watson is given less opportunity to shine but their are hints she will be the key to Holmes rediscovering the truth. The closer shadows serious trouble with Senior intimating to a former friend (Lukas) he was responsible for the horrific death of his predecessor.
5) Watson demonstrates her ability rivals the master, when she spots the crucial detail leading to an arrest of murder and arson for hire. Meanwhile Alfredo returns from time with family (after his kidnapping by Oscar) and lets Joan know Sherlock hasn't been attending any of the regular meetings. A smokescreen for Alfredo needing help, which Sherlock surprisingly provides.
4) When a medical friend of Watson's is identified as a demonstration skeleton at the hospital, the duo are called upon to solve a case involving cancer treatment and group marriages. A NYPD detective begins to investigate the duo's reinstatement, Watson tries to resolve the issue with the traditional police boxing match.
3) Re-instated to the NYPD, Holmes and Watson tackle a case involving frat-boys and dopplegangers. Sherlock also offers his assistance to Senior to clear his schedule and see him leave NY. Both cases are solved but Senior reveals he plans to stay long term.
2)Watson gets them a consultancy with the FBI on a case involving brainwashing research. Despite the tight leash its a working arrangement. Senior (being a government fixer) offers to have the duo reinstated at the NYPD. Initially wary at the hidden cost, Homes accepts but Watson finding evidence of corrupt dealings (by Senior) agrees only to better suit Holmes health.
1)After his violent drug relapse, Holmes and Watson are cut from consulting with the police. Following the suicide of a former acquaintance they are gifted a case solving the disappearance of two Honduran women. Holmes Senior (John Noble - Professor from Fringe) makes an unexpected visit.- 2016
----Season 3:
A change in the relationship between Holmes and Watson (introduction of a new protege and Watson striking out on her own) breathes new life into the early stages of this third season.
----Season 2:
Not as good as Season 1, the show only starts to hit it's stride in the last 3 or so episodes. It ends somewhat suddenly.
----Season 1:
