Lifetime Achievement in Directing

by clevecheng | created - 13 Jul 2014 | updated - 29 Mar 2016 | Public

Here is my system for ranking directors by lifetime achievement:

1) Rate movies I've seen on a scale of 0 to 99, with 0-9 corresponding to 1 IMDb star, 10-19 corresponding to 2 IMDb stars, and so on. The highest rating I've given to date is 95; the lowest 5.

2) Subtract 60 from every rating and throw away everything with a negative score. What remains is every movie I've rated higher than 6 stars on IMDb - over a thousand movies (out of over three thousand total).

3) Add up the scores by director.

4) Sort directors in descending order of score.

5) Remove any with only one qualifying movie.
