30 Rising Stars 2014

So you should recognise this face in about a month, because he will be starring in the last 'Event' movie of the tentpole season 2014. Guradians of the Galaxy ensures Pratt heads the top of the list after doing the voice work for the lead in The Lego Movie. The lead from the Coens bros latest effort, Inside Llewyn Davis and popping up in 2011's Drive Isaac is clearly on the up. Some may say he was a rising star back in 2010 when Robin Hood came out, but he has now stamped his name on bigger future releases which would translate to bona fida star. The Two Faces of January, A Most Violent Year and little known franchise Star Wars are some of the films he's due in. Keep a close eye on him

After starring in The Descendants alongside George Clooney, Woodley has become a major star thanks to Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars, both films currently sitting in the top 15 at the Domestic 2014 Box Office. With 3 more films from the Divergent series coming out over the next 3 years, expect to see a lot more of her.

Arguably the most talented actor on this list, DeHaan has made a massive rise in hollywood. Getting a decent start in the TV show, In Treatment was followed by a breakout hit Chronicle (where he was terrific), small roles in Lawless and Lincoln. But he then rose even higher scoring a major role in the new Spiderman franchise. Life and Tulip Fever are two more films coming out over the next year. Playing the 'weak', frustrated youngster is just the start for this guy, an oscar nomination is on the cards for this guy

Likeable comedian and bound for the higher heights. Miller recently starred in the well received Silicon Valley as the egotistical Erlich Bachman. But thats not all, Big Hero 6 and Hell and Back marks Millers return in voice acting, the former possible to be a huge movie. Not to forgot he's already appeared in 2 major films this year in Transformers 4 and How to Train Your Dragon 2. Could he take the mantle of funniest guy in town?

The first of 5 Australians on the list is about to star in the second instalment of the new Planet of the Apes reboot. The definition of breaking out, Clarke has been around for a long time. Just look at his last few films and the ones coming out; Lawless, Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby, White House Down to the apes movie to Knight of Cups, Child 44, Everest and finally Terminator: Genesis as John Connor. If you haven't heard of him now, stand up and take notice.

Another big breakout performer who got his chance from 2010's monsters, which you may of heard of by now. Steadily gaining a good reputation appearing in Argo, Killing Them Softly, Promised Land, 12 Years a Slave and Non-Stop. But he is ready to up the game yet again with promising roles in Gone Girl, Black Sea and Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. A good if not great actor

Making the top 10 is the plucky young lass from True Grit. Following that were key parts in Enders Game and 3 Days to Kill and signs were there that she is ready to take her game to the next level. The Keeping Room, Barely Lethal, Term Life and Ten Thousand Saints are all going to be showcasing her talent so check em out

Many people say The Wire is the greatest TV show of all time, myself included, and thats where Jordan started (or was first noticed), among many others. His performance in Fruitvale Station is right up there with the best from 2013 and he starred alongside Dane DeHaan in the still overlooked Chronicle in 2012. But claiming the role of The Human Torch in the reboot of The Fantastic Four means he is here in the top 10. And more importantly he will play the son of Apollo Creed in the spinoff from the Rocky franchise in Creed, something i am most looking forward to

He may be known already, but he is about to be a star with lots of nice roles in 2014. Ridley Scotts Exodus: Gods and Kings is certainly the highlight for him. Check out Animal Kingdom where Mendelsohn steals every scene

Courtney, an intimidating figure rose to prominence in the TV show Spartacus: War of the Damned. That lead to a couple of nice roles in Jack Reacher and A Good Day to Die Hard. So far so good. And in 2014 he has 4 more roles and 2 more in 2015. Amongst those are the films being helmed by notable actors Russell Crowe in The Water Diviner and another from Angelina Jolie called Unbroken. Oh and he'll be playing Kyle Reese is the next Terminator movie. Not too shabby

A personal favourite of mine, Whigham seems to be destined for great character roles. After appearing in American Hustle, The Wolf of Wall Street and Non Stop in the last 8 months, he's got Knight of Cups and Term Life coming up this year. Almost forgot to mention Boardwalk Empire. Another one you should keep a closer eye on

Hailing from Australia, Liam Hemsworth has appeared in the first two Hunger Games movies, and will most likely get a bigger role in the following Mockingjay movies that will undoubtedly be massive at the Box Office. With The Dressmaker, a comedy/drama/thriller, happening in 2015, he is starting to show his range
