2001 - DirectorRobert WieneStarsWerner KraussConrad VeidtFriedrich FeherHypnotist Dr. Caligari uses a somnambulist, Cesare, to commit murders.Strange angles, shadows and bizarre floor patterns, this expressionistic nightmare looks like something Dr. Seuss on LSD would create. While the visuals are a real treat, the plot is underwhelming.

1999 - DirectorDavid ButlerStarsDoris DayHoward KeelAllyn Ann McLerieThe story of Calamity Jane, her saloon, and her romance with Wild Bill Hickok. You'll find this in the dictionary under 'Rootin' Tootin'. And, I did like that the character was able to stay true to her nature instead of turning into a "lady" to get her man.

1999 - DirectorAmin MatalqaStarsNadim SawalhaRana SultanHussein Al-SousWhen an old airport janitor finds a captain's hat in the trash, he gets pulled into the lives of children in his poor neighborhood. He weaves imaginary stories of his world adventures to offer hope in the face of their harsh reality.MA gentle & understated performance by the lead actor gives a magical & caring feel to the children & the audience. My heart wanted him to be able to save everyone, while my head knew the real world realities would deny that it be so. One thing this movie really helped do was correct my pre-conceived Western prejudices on countries in the Middle east.
mine - *** T's - **1/2 2018 - DirectorAnthony RussoJoe RussoStarsChris EvansRobert Downey Jr.Scarlett JohanssonPolitical involvement in the Avengers' affairs causes a rift between Captain America and Iron Man.This is what I like about Marvel over DC. The stories are deeper, liberal & engaging; everything is not painted in black & white, with broad strokes. With the heroes battling inner turmoil more devious & destructive than any super villain. Where they dwell on responsibilities AND consequences. This movie helps bring to life one of Marvel's greatest quotes - "With Great Power there must also come - Great Responsibility."

This is a tale of the dangers of inflexible ideology. I did like how each side stood their ground but love and the willingness to listen, they come to realize that both sides have merit.

A truant officer decides she should go to boarding school, but she's rescued by relatives.Well hidden in the silliness & fluff are good examples of life's lessons - friendship, forgiveness, cheating & death. All gently handled and then the tacky Hollywood ending.

Unbelievable that something like this could happen and tense with complex performances from the two leads. Hanks & Abdi's performances were so layered & gripping that I would like to see these two together again.

Though the destruction of the Venice building was rather cool.
mine - *1/2 T's - *1/2 2012 - DirectorWilfred JacksonBurt GillettStarsWalt DisneyMickey, apparently shipwrecked, is on a raft; he washes up on a tropical island, where a banana tree takes care of his hunger. He then discovers a piano that washed ashore, and begins playing it. The animals come around; a gorilla, after playing a 4-hands piece with his feet, destroys the piano. Mickey runs away and accidentally wakes a lion. The lion chases Mickey to a stream, where he jumps onto a rock that turns out to be right next to a crocodile. The lion lunges for Mickey, misses, and ends up in the croc. The rock Mickey is on turns out to be a giant turtle.Too many scenes that didn't make sense lowers the rating in this early Mickey Mouse entry.

1999 - DirectorAdam SmithStarsThe Chemical BrothersTom RowlandsEd SimonsFor nearly two decades, The Chemical Brothers' "mind-bending" audiovisual live show has played to packed houses and festivals across the globe. But it has never been documented on film. Until now. In 2011, at the iconic Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, The Chemical Brothers played a headline set in front of 50,000 fans which was captured on 21 cameras. Immersing us in the thick of a frenetic crowd, Don't Think captures the synaesthetic barrage of sound, film and light and the transforming effect it has on its audience. Directed by Adam Smith, one of the show's visual creators, we are taken on a magical realist psychedelic journey where we feel the show rather than merely watch it.The throbbing, cyclical beats & the multiple flashing lights are enough for people to go into seizures. This film is definitely for fans. Anybody else - stay away.

Finally, at the urging of others, I gave it a try. Colorful characters, perseverance & respect; the typical sports/ feel good movie.

I found the story about how Ms. Sendler's deeds became known to the world a whole lot more interesting.

So bad, that I was laughing and its not suppose to be a comedy.
