1. Troll Hunter (2010)

PG-13 | 103 min | Drama, Fantasy, Horror

61 Metascore

A group of students investigates a series of mysterious bear killings, but learns that there are much more dangerous things going on. They start to follow a mysterious hunter, learning that he is actually a troll hunter.

Director: André Øvredal | Stars: Otto Jespersen, Robert Stoltenberg, Knut Nærum, Glenn Erland Tosterud

Votes: 79,491 | Gross: $0.25M

Great low budget foreign film. Starts off a little slow, but keep and open mind and you will be rewarded! I can still hear one of the main characters shout " TROLLLLLLSKE ! " every time I see the poster or pass it on Netflix.

Proof that you dont always need a huge budget or superstars to make a solid flick. Some might argue the horror aspect, but there's a few parts that give it that feel.

2. Steel Trap (2007)

R | 92 min | Horror, Thriller

Seven guests are invited to an after party on the abandoned floor of an office building, handpicked to play a series sadistic and deadly puzzles.

Director: Luis Cámara | Stars: Georgia Mackenzie, Mark Wilson, Pascal Langdale, Julia Ballard

Votes: 1,873

You either love this movie or outright hate it. This movie pretty much started my obsession with low budget indie movies and giving lesser known films a watch.

Somewhat of a cliche plotline, however I challenge you to guess who the killer is before the end!

3. Frankenstein's Army (2013)

R | 84 min | Horror, Sci-Fi

49 Metascore

In the dying days of WWII, a battalion of Russian soldiers is lured into the secret lab of a deranged scientist and forced to face off against an army of horrific flesh-and-metal war machines.

Director: Richard Raaphorst | Stars: Robert Gwilym, Hon Ping Tang, Alexander Terentyev, Luke Newberry

Votes: 9,195

Great little found footage film! With all the garbage found footage movies coming out lately this was a breath of fresh air!

And I mean, Frankenstein and Nazis. What more can you ask for. Watch this with an open mind and enjoy the ludicrousness!

4. Open Grave (2013)

Unrated | 102 min | Horror, Mystery, Sci-Fi

33 Metascore

A man wakes up with no memory in a pit full of dead bodies in the wilderness and must determine if the murderer is one of the strangers who rescued him, or if he himself is the killer.

Director: Gonzalo López-Gallego | Stars: Sharlto Copley, Thomas Kretschmann, Josie Ho, Joseph Morgan

Votes: 31,324

This movie has a special place in my horror heart. With all the found footage and horror movies being done to death lately, this took a particular genre and merged/mixed it with another.

The familiar "Man wakes up with amnesia..." plotline is used, but slowly develops into something much more. I had no idea what the hell was going on by the halfway mark, but I loved it!

Keeps you guessing until the very end in a good way!

5. The Tunnel (I) (2011)

Not Rated | 94 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller

An investigation into a government cover-up leads to a network of abandoned train tunnels deep beneath the heart of Sydney. As a journalist and her crew hunt for the story it quickly becomes clear the story is hunting them.

Director: Carlo Ledesma | Stars: Bel Deliá, Andy Rodoreda, Steve Davis, Luke Arnold

Votes: 22,619

This movie blew me away! It captures the phobia of being lost somewhere endless with dwindling light and being chased by a relentless force perfectly! The "creature" is still something me and my friends argue about to this day and is shown sparingly...using your own imagination to conjure up something truly evil is effective.

I also found out this movie was made pretty much for free using indie funding and Australian awesomeness. More proof that you don't need HUGE incomes and Superstars to make a great film!

6. Megan Is Missing (2011)

Not Rated | 85 min | Drama, Horror, Thriller

Two teenage girls encounter an Internet child predator.

Director: Michael Goi | Stars: Amber Perkins, Rachel Quinn, Dean Waite, Jael Elizabeth Steinmeyer

Votes: 15,423

A plotline that's been done a 100 times over, yet no other movie i've seen ever did it this effectively ( aside from maybe The Den, which is also on this list )

I don't have much to say about this movie other than the fact that it cost me a friend at the time who had a daughter and walked in on the rape scene. Absolutely brutal and unforgiving at points, this movie pulls no punches.

The last 15-20 minutes are brutal to sit through and not feel queasy.

7. The Den (2013)

R | 76 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller

48 Metascore

While studying the habits of web cam chat users from the apparent safety of her own home, a young woman's life begins to spiral out of control after witnessing a grisly murder online.

Director: Zachary Donohue | Stars: Melanie Papalia, David Schlachtenhaufen, Adam Shapiro, Anna Margaret Hollyman

Votes: 15,495

Cyber movies are hard to get into IMO. The fact that the bad guy is usually not shown for the entirety of the movie, or shown very sparingly works against them to convey actual horror or that something is lurking behind the screen.

This movie proves that theory wrong, so very wrong. Once we see the webcam light turn on, you can literally see the woman's life unravelling as the villain stalks her personal life.

I still put tape over the webcam when I use my laptop.

8. Fear Itself (2008–2009)

TV-14 | 43 min | Horror

A television series broken down into 13 separate 60-minute films from premiere horror writers and directors.

Stars: Margherita Donato, Valerie White, Elisabeth Moss, Eric Roberts

Votes: 4,706

Masters of Horror pops up on quite a few horror lists, but I rarely see this gem of a show. Done by the same creator, Fear itself came after masters of horror but was done by the same creator!

Only 1 season long at 13 episodes, they all pack quite a punch and they vary in content. If you liked Masters of Horror do yourself a favour and give this show a watch!

9. Red White & Blue (2010)

Not Rated | 103 min | Drama, Thriller

81 Metascore

A woman attracts the attention of a psychopathic former Army interrogator and an emotionally fragile young man caring for his depressed mother.

Director: Simon Rumley | Stars: Amanda Fuller, Marc Senter, Jon Michael Davis, Nick Holden

Votes: 6,145

Sometimes fear isn't something lurking in the dark or sharp teeth and a set of claws. Sometimes the scariest thing can be a death sentence by disease or something having complete control of your life/future and you're powerless to stop it.

This film involves the a woman that is HIV positive and makes it her mission to sleep with as many men as possible. Involves 3 separate story lines ( or main characters) that come together in an explosion.

10. Storage (I) (2009)

95 min | Crime, Thriller

Working at an underground city storage facility, a young man discovers evidence of a murder and vows to bring the killer to justice.

Director: Michael Craft | Stars: Matthew Scully, Robert Price, Elise Greig, Damien Garvey

Votes: 767

Australian horror has been up and coming for a few years now. I found this gem on Netflix ( of all places! ) and was blown away. Can't really explain it too much without giving a lot of it away. A

ll I can say is that I highly recommend this film and it's another great example of the talent coming out of Australian film making these days!

11. Pusher (1996)

Not Rated | 110 min | Crime, Thriller

72 Metascore

A drug pusher grows increasingly desperate after a botched deal leaves him with a large debt to a ruthless drug lord.

Director: Nicolas Winding Refn | Stars: Kim Bodnia, Zlatko Buric, Laura Drasbæk, Slavko Labovic

Votes: 44,481 | Gross: $0.00M

A film that is, in my own humble opinion, one of the most underrated movies of all time.

This film follows Frank, a drug dealer who starts to make and continue to make such a series of bad choices throughout this movie that you'll want to punch him in the face for being an idiot. With that said however, his life quickly spirals out of control in an amazing fashion.

This film will always have a special place in my heart and I absolutely love it.

12. Pusher II (2004)

Not Rated | 100 min | Action, Crime, Drama

78 Metascore

Tonny is released from prison - again. This time he has his mind set on changing his broken down life, but that is easier said than done.

Director: Nicolas Winding Refn | Stars: Mads Mikkelsen, Leif Sylvester, Anne Sørensen, Øyvind Hagen-Traberg

Votes: 24,970

I know what you're thinking, A SEQUEL?! The unspoken rule is that sequels are generally a money grab or absolute garbage ( The notable exceptions being The Godfather and Aliens )

This film smashes that rule. it follows Tonny ( Franks right hand man from the first movie ) as he gets out of prison and tries to win his fathers respect. Every bit as engrossing as the first and much more emotional

13. Pusher III (2005)

Not Rated | 108 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller

72 Metascore

Milo tries to be a family man and run his criminal organization, but a wrong drug shipment endangers everything.

Director: Nicolas Winding Refn | Stars: Zlatko Buric, Marinela Dekic, Slavko Labovic, Ramadan Huseini

Votes: 18,036

By this point, you're all thinking I'm crazy! The THIRD movie!? This film follows Milo ( the drug lord from the first 2 ) around for a day and is the goriest of all 3 movies.

Milo quickly finds himself in an undesirable situation and things just spiral out of control from there.

14. Big Bad Wolves (2013)

Not Rated | 110 min | Drama, Horror, Thriller

64 Metascore

After a little girl is brutally murdered, a suspect avoids arrest due to lack of evidence. Working separately, her father and a cop decide to do something about it.

Directors: Aharon Keshales, Navot Papushado | Stars: Lior Ashkenazi, Rotem Keinan, Tzahi Grad, Doval'e Glickman

Votes: 17,542 | Gross: $0.03M

This film was awesome. More proof that humans can sometimes be the scariest kind of horror!

This film follows a few different characters trying to illicit a confession from someone they know is guilty...or is he?

15. Hotel Inferno (2013)

Not Rated | 80 min | Action, Horror

Assigned the easy task of assassinating a couple in a hotel room, instead, a hardened contract killer finds himself fighting for his life in a maze-like place crammed with demonic henchmen. Can he escape from the nightmarish Hotel Inferno?

Director: Giulio De Santi | Stars: Rayner Bourton, Michael Howe, Jessica Carroll, Christian Riva

Votes: 1,733

This film might not be for everyone. It places a huge emphasis on gore and blood, but I found the ludicrous plotline quite enjoyable and it's got somewhat of a first person shooter feel.

Leave the critic at the door and take in some of the gory special effects!

16. Audition (1999)

R | 115 min | Drama, Horror, Mystery

70 Metascore

A widower takes an offer to screen girls at a special audition, arranged for him by a friend to find him a new wife. The one he fancies is not who she appears to be after all.

Director: Takashi Miike | Stars: Ryo Ishibashi, Eihi Shiina, Tetsu Sawaki, Jun Kunimura

Votes: 89,107

This movie stayed with me for quite a while after the end credits finished rolling. A slow burner from Takashi Miike, I guarantee that you will never look at steel wire the same way or want to be near a pincushion!

Appearances arn't always what they seem.

17. The Woods (2006)

R | 91 min | Horror, Mystery

Set in 1965 New England, a troubled girl encounters mysterious happenings in the woods surrounding an isolated girls school that she was sent to by her disinterested parents.

Director: Lucky McKee | Stars: Lauren Birkell, Agnes Bruckner, Jane Gilchrist, Emma Campbell

Votes: 12,373

Great little movie that either didn't get much publicity or just kind of faded into obscurity. A girl is sent to a mysterious Girl's school in the woods because she tried to kill her stepmother...

However the school and teachers are not quite right and mystery ensues. Some great scares and pays homage to Suspiria quite a bit IMO

18. The Devil's Chair (II) (2007)

Not Rated | 91 min | Horror

With a pocketful of drugs, Nick West takes out his girlfriend Sammy, for a good time. When they explore an abandoned asylum, the discovery of a bizarre device, a cross between an electric ... See full summary »

Director: Adam Mason | Stars: Andrew Howard, Pollyanna Rose, Olivia Hill, Nadja Brand

Votes: 3,214

This movie took me by surprise! Found it in the bargain bin for $5 at the local Wal-Mart.

This movie takes you in one direction and then throws a huge plot twist at you. Well written and acted, i recommend this movie to any horror fan.

19. Entrance (2012)

Not Rated | 83 min | Drama, Horror, Thriller

ENTRANCE is about the limits of our perception, how the things lurking on the periphery of our lives can lead to horrific conclusions; about how she fell out of love with the city, but it wouldn't let her go.

Directors: Dallas Richard Hallam, Patrick Horvath | Stars: Suziey Block, Karen Baird, Farley Burge, Karen Gorham

Votes: 982

Ever thought someone's following you or lurking in the shadows? This movie captures that eerie feeling perfectly. The main character is either losing her mind and looking into things way too much or something sinister is happening to her life.

Try to see if you can catch what's going on.

20. Shadow (II) (2009)

Not Rated | 77 min | Horror

When a young soldier leaves for a mountain biking excursion, he meets the girl of his dreams as well as a group of violent locals who want to see them dead at any cost.

Director: Federico Zampaglione | Stars: Jake Muxworthy, Karina Testa, Ottaviano Blitch, Chris Coppola

Votes: 2,771

Another great unheard of horror movie for the most part. A man goes biking through Europe and gets himself into a terrible situation. Is he losing his mind or is something much more sinister going on?!

A great take on a plot line that's been done to death in recent years.

21. Toolbox Murders (2004)

R | 95 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller

A historic Hollywood hotel houses a supernatural evil. It's been subdued for decades, but when renovations start, a series of murders take place.

Director: Tobe Hooper | Stars: Angela Bettis, Brent Roam, Marco Rodríguez, Rance Howard

Votes: 8,778

Another movie that seems to have no inbetween on the love/hate relationship. Personally I thought it was a fresh take on horror and with Tobe Hooper at the helm, I really liked it.

A remake of an 80's slasher, this one has a different storyline and goes a little more into the occult/paranormal realm. I thought it was awesome and some of the deaths are truly inventive!

22. The Theatre Bizarre (2011)

Not Rated | 114 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller

A modern horror omnibus inspired by the over-the-top shocks of Paris' early 20th century 'Theatre du Grand Guignol'. Enola Penny sneaks into an abandoned theater and witnesses six bizarre tales.

Directors: Douglas Buck, Buddy Giovinazzo, David Gregory, Karim Hussain, Jeremy Kasten, Tom Savini, Richard Stanley | Stars: Udo Kier, Virginia Newcomb, Amanda Marquardt, Amelia Gotham

Votes: 4,466

Personally, Horror anthologies are my favourite type of horror movie. The subjects are varied and the short time frame tends to pack a lot of thrills in a short period.

Generally, not everyone is going to like all the stories, but I feel horror fans will appreciate what this movie has to offer. Featuring narration by the legendary Udo Kier as a super creepy puppet-man, this movie has some truly creepy and unique stories.

23. Shuttle (2008)

R | 107 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery

A late night airport shuttle ride home descends into darkness.

Director: Edward Anderson | Stars: Tony Curran, Peyton List, Cameron Goodman, Cullen Douglas

Votes: 6,072 | Gross: $0.01M

Leaning a little more towards the thriller genre, this movie was a one of a kind ride from start to finish. The horror aspect comes from the unknown. Who is the driver? Why is he doing this?

The explanation further serves to increase the viewers horror as to whats happening instead of diminishing it.

24. The Killing Gene (2007)

R | 104 min | Crime, Drama, Horror

A calculating killer coerces a detective to pay for his previous mistakes.

Director: Tom Shankland | Stars: Stellan Skarsgård, Melissa George, Ashley Walters, Tom Hardy

Votes: 9,332

This movie punches you right in the gut. Stand out performances from Selma Blair ( Like you've never seen her. Gone is the cruel intentions innocence ) and Stellan Skarsgård. This movie raises a lot of questions like does one wrong turn deserve another or does 2 wrongs make a right?

Great plot twists and this movie will stick with you long after its finished

25. Return to House on Haunted Hill (2007 Video)

R | 79 min | Crime, Fantasy, Horror

Several years after Sara and Eddie escaped the former asylum and it's inmates, Ariel, Sara's sister, visits the house looking for answers and the truth behind her sister's insane claims about what happened inside it.

Director: Víctor Garcia | Stars: Amanda Righetti, Cerina Vincent, Erik Palladino, Tom Riley

Votes: 10,592

Another example of the sequel blowing the original away ( A straight to DVD even! ) this movie actually floored me. Picking up where the original one left off pretty much, this one finds another group getting stuck in the hospital.

However, this one offers much better scares than the original as well as a much better backstory to the hospital.

26. The Reef (2010)

R | 94 min | Adventure, Horror, Thriller

A great white shark hunts the crew of a capsized sailboat along the Great Barrier Reef.

Director: Andrew Traucki | Stars: Damian Walshe-Howling, Gyton Grantley, Adrienne Pickering, Zoe Naylor

Votes: 20,918

With all the cheesy shark movies and found footage garbage coming out and flooding the market, it was nice to find this little gem.

Following the age old plotline, boat tips and survivors fight off a shark...this movie outshines all the rest ( especially the super boring "Open Water' ) The shark is shown sparingly but the panic and hopelessness among the capsized survivors is palpable. Definitely a nail biter right to the finish.

27. Rare Exports (2010)

R | 84 min | Adventure, Fantasy, Horror

71 Metascore

In the depths of the Korvatunturi mountains, 486 meters deep, lies the closest ever guarded secret of Christmas. The time has come to dig it up. This Christmas everyone will believe in Santa Claus.

Director: Jalmari Helander | Stars: Jorma Tommila, Onni Tommila, Peeter Jakobi, Tommi Korpela

Votes: 32,131 | Gross: $0.26M

A well done horror film about Santa. Enough Said.

28. Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001)

R | 142 min | Action, Adventure, Drama

57 Metascore

In 18th-century France, the Chevalier de Fronsac and his Native American friend Mani are sent to the Gevaudan province at the king's behest to investigate the killings of hundreds by a mysterious beast.

Director: Christophe Gans | Stars: Samuel Le Bihan, Mark Dacascos, Jérémie Renier, Vincent Cassel

Votes: 71,414 | Gross: $11.26M

Great Werewolf movies are few and far between. The 80's craze produced a huge amount of werewolf movies but they seemingly died out with the huge hair and acid washed jeans.

This movie was a real treat. Following the traditional werewolf story and giving it a huge injection of action and a great story, it's a great way to get lost for a while.

29. Night of the Wolf (2014)

Not Rated | 95 min | Horror

51 Metascore

When deadly beasts attack from the forest, it is up to a grizzled veteran to uncover what the residents of a secluded retirement community are hiding.

Director: Adrian Garcia Bogliano | Stars: Nick Damici, Ethan Embry, Lance Guest, Erin Cummings

Votes: 8,481

Another great Werewolf film from after 2000, this story follows a blind military veteran as he moves into a new community following the death of his wife.

A great anti-hero, a lot of action and some kick ass special effects.

30. Ravenous (1999)

R | 101 min | Adventure, Drama, Horror

46 Metascore

In a remote military outpost in the 19th century, Captain John Boyd and his regiment embark on a rescue mission which takes a dark turn when they are ambushed by a sadistic cannibal.

Director: Antonia Bird | Stars: Guy Pearce, Robert Carlyle, David Arquette, Jeremy Davies

Votes: 43,215 | Gross: $2.06M

Another movie that kind of flew under the radar, this movie combines black humour and cannabilism into a highly effective thrill ride of a movie.

A stand out performance from Robert Carlyle mixing humour with absolute evil.

31. The Children (2008)

R | 84 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller

A relaxing Christmas vacation turns into a terrifying fight for survival as the children begin to turn on their parents.

Director: Tom Shankland | Stars: Eva Birthistle, Stephen Campbell Moore, Jeremy Sheffield, Rachel Shelley

Votes: 19,022

Children that turn evil and turn on their parents and family. I don't think I need to say anymore. I couldn't look my nephews in the eyes for weeks!

32. Slashers (2001 Video)

R | 99 min | Comedy, Horror

A modern 80's slasher in which six "lucky" contestants appear on a game show where they'll face the Slashers (in house homicidal maniacs) to win millions of dollars. All contestants have to do is survive the night.

Director: Maurice Devereaux | Stars: Sarah Joslyn Crowder, Tony Curtis Blondell, Kieran Keller, Jerry Sprio

Votes: 1,822

A movie about a Japanese game show where the contestants have to battle serial killers. Somewhat reminiscent of 'the running man' however the serial killers are much flashier and the kills are much gorier.

Also asks good questions about society and when would we draw the line. Great little film!

33. The Granny (1995 Video)

R | 85 min | Comedy, Horror

Granny's family wants her dead so they can collect her insurance. While she is on her death bed, she drinks an eternal life potion and returns to the land of the living. She is on a mission to wreak havoc over her greedy relatives.

Director: Luca Bercovici | Stars: Stella Stevens, Shannon Whirry, Luca Bercovici, Brant von Hoffman

Votes: 759

I remember my Nana renting me this VHS from Jumbo Video when i was a kid. Chock full of gore and adult humour... this is one for those rainy days with nothing in mind.

34. We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011)

R | 112 min | Drama, Mystery, Thriller

68 Metascore

Kevin's mother struggles to love her strange child despite the increasingly dangerous things he says and does as he grows up. But Kevin is just getting started, and his final act will be beyond anything anyone imagined.

Director: Lynne Ramsay | Stars: Tilda Swinton, John C. Reilly, Ezra Miller, Jasper Newell

Votes: 167,567 | Gross: $1.74M

Another movie that raises the questions, are kids a product of their enviroment? Or are some kids just born truly evil?

A great watch and another great performance by Tilda Swinton.

35. Noroi (2005)

Not Rated | 115 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller

A documentary filmmaker explores seemingly unrelated paranormal incidents connected by the legend of an ancient demon called the "kagutaba."

Director: Kôji Shiraishi | Stars: Jin Muraki, Rio Kanno, Tomono Kuga, Marika Matsumoto

Votes: 15,289

A great addition to any Horror collection, this movie follows a documentary style filmmaker as he visits various people and places involved with an ancient curse brought on by a demon.

The plot gets a bit convoluted towards the middle but a great movie nonetheless!

36. Eden Lake (2008)

R | 91 min | Horror, Thriller

65 Metascore

Refusing to let anything spoil their romantic weekend break, a young couple confront a gang of loutish youths with terrifyingly brutal consequences.

Director: James Watkins | Stars: Kelly Reilly, Michael Fassbender, Tara Ellis, Jack O'Connell

Votes: 94,708 | Gross: $0.01M

Dimension Extreme makes movies that are seen by most as...Suprise, Suprise, EXTREME. After watching Storm Warning I googled their filmography on IMDB and stumbled upon this great little flick.

A couple goes camping in the woods and gets into it with a couple of local Pikey kids. No side is willing to back down and the climax still sends chills down my spine to this day.

37. Grave Encounters (2011)

Not Rated | 92 min | Horror, Mystery

33 Metascore

For their ghost hunting reality show, a production crew locks themselves inside an abandoned mental hospital that's supposedly haunted - and it might prove to be all too true.

Directors: Colin Minihan, Stuart Ortiz, The Vicious Brothers | Stars: Benjamin Wilkinson, Sean Rogerson, Ashleigh Gryzko, Merwin Mondesir

Votes: 63,896

Another great example of found footage horror done superbly, this movie is another one of those movies with absolutely NO grey area. Viewers either love it or hate it.

This movie may have too corny of a premise for some horror buffs ( Fake paranormal team goes into an asylum and finds real horror )

However, I left my critic at the door and was not disappointed! Some great effects and jump scares throughout, this to me is an example of found footage horror done right.

38. Alyce Kills (2011)

Not Rated | 90 min | Horror, Thriller

After accidentally knocking her best friend off a roof, Alyce is haunted by guilt and delves into a brutal nightmare wonderland of sex, drugs and violence, her mind tearing itself apart along with anyone else who gets in her way.

Director: Jay Lee | Stars: Jade Dornfeld, Amara Zaragoza, James Duval, Eddie Rouse

Votes: 3,215

Another great example of a slow burn horror, Alyce slowly starts to descend into madness when she accidentally pushes her friend off a roof and she dies.

Her descent into depravity and drugs soon follows, and the ending of this film still makes me laugh in a bewildered sort of way to this day

39. The Loved Ones (2009)

R | 84 min | Crime, Horror

73 Metascore

When Brent turns down his classmate Lola's invitation to the prom, she concocts a wildly violent plan for revenge.

Director: Sean Byrne | Stars: Xavier Samuel, Robin McLeavy, John Brumpton, Richard Wilson

Another great example of superb Australian horror, this film follows one teenagers rejection of another and subsequent descent into hell.

Incest, drills and boiled brains are among the goodies you can expect in this romp into the crazy outback.

40. Calvaire (2004)

Not Rated | 88 min | Drama, Horror, Thriller

52 Metascore

Marc, a traveling entertainer, is on his way home for Christmas when his van breaks down in the middle of a jerkwater town with some strange inhabitants.

Director: Fabrice du Welz | Stars: Laurent Lucas, Brigitte Lahaie, Gigi Coursigny, Jean-Luc Couchard

Votes: 13,771 | Gross: $0.00M

A man's car breaks down and he has no choice but to stay at the inn with a super creepy innkeeper. While out on a walk he witnesses the locals crowding around a boy making love to a pig...and from there things get REALLY weird.

41. Witching and Bitching (2013)

Not Rated | 112 min | Action, Comedy, Fantasy

73 Metascore

A gang of armed robbers finds a safe haven in a secluded village crammed with witches--only to encounter the bizarre, the unexpected, and the occult. Can they save themselves, and the rest of the world from the next witch apocalypse?

Director: Álex de la Iglesia | Stars: Hugo Silva, Mario Casas, Pepón Nieto, Carolina Bang

Votes: 15,464

A heist crew trying to lay low in the country catches the attention of a coven of witches. Some great special effects and hilarity happen throughout. Definitely a black comedy at times but enough horror imagery and themes to add it to the list.

42. Darknet (2013–2014)

30 min | Horror, Thriller

A macabre web site called Darknet links the tales in this chilling anthology series whose protagonists face a range of unnamable horrors.

Stars: Michelle Alexander, Carlyn Burchell, Miles Carney, Samantha Weinstein

Votes: 2,408

A great little TV series. Don't see it pop up on many lists or get the rightful recognition it deserves. A little short at 6 episodes, each one involves 1 or 2 horror tales that help to tell the main story.

Great stories mixed with black humour, definitely worth a watch!

43. Lord of Illusions (1995)

R | 109 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller

A private detective gets more than he bargains for when he encounters Philip Swan, a performer whose amazing illusions captivate the world, but they are not really what everyone thinks.

Director: Clive Barker | Stars: Scott Bakula, Kevin J. O'Connor, J. Trevor Edmond, Daniel von Bargen

Votes: 19,252 | Gross: $13.29M

I don't see this movie pop up on many lists! A little science fiction oriented as it deals with magic and the origin of magic...the main villain still gives me the willies.

Special effects are a bit dated by this day and age ( 2015 ) however still worth a watch as it tells a great story. Clive Barker never disappoints!

44. Inside (2007)

R | 82 min | Horror

Four months after the death of her husband, a woman on the brink of motherhood is tormented in her home by a strange woman who wants her unborn baby.

Directors: Alexandre Bustillo, Julien Maury | Stars: Alysson Paradis, Jean-Baptiste Tabourin, Claude Lulé, Dominique Frot

Votes: 44,643

One of the most extreme movies i've ever sat through. A pregnant woman alone on christmas receives a knock at the door. What follows is one of the most nail biting rides i've ever had to sit through. I won't spoil it, but definitely a must for ANY horror fan!

45. Blood Creek (2009)

R | 90 min | Horror

A man and his brother on a mission of revenge become trapped in a harrowing occult experiment dating back to the Third Reich.

Director: Joel Schumacher | Stars: Henry Cavill, Dominic Purcell, Emma Booth, Michael Fassbender

Votes: 12,930

Another great title that I don't see pop up in discussion very often, Town creek was released straight to DVD in 2006 under the name Blood Creek. After gaining some momentum is was re-released in 2009 under Town Creek.
