- DirectorDoug LimanStarsChiwetel EjioforAnne HathawaySonicA couple attempts a high-risk, high-stakes jewelry heist at a department store.***:
The performances are good. There’s a great ensemble cast as well. The script nails a lot with the lockdown. Forgetting your mask, buying too much toilet paper, Covid beards and etc.
It probably could have worked better as a short though. A movie about the lockdown I don’t think needed a heist subplot. The movie was likable though. Even with a heist thrown in for the heck of it. To stretch out the story and length of the movie. - DirectorJohn Lee HancockStarsDenzel WashingtonRami MalekJared LetoKern County Deputy Sheriff Joe Deacon is sent to Los Angeles for what should have been a quick evidence-gathering assignment. Instead, he becomes embroiled in the search for a serial killer who is terrorizing the city.***: Detective Jim Baxter (Rami Malek) asks for Joe’s help on a serial killer case. Joe thinks solving Jim’s case will some a past case of his.
Together, Joe and Jim like Albert Sparma (Jared Leto) for the killings. Especially since Albert has an interest in murder. As well as the mind games he plays with both men.
The chemistry and performances of Washington and Malek kept my attention throughout. Jared Leto was creepy, as well as funny. The pacing and screenplay needed some work.
Such fine performances deserved a more original screenplay. As well as a movie with a better ending. - DirectorRobert LorenzStarsKatheryn WinnickLiam NeesonTeresa RuizA rancher on the Arizona border becomes the unlikely defender of a young Mexican boy desperately fleeing the cartel assassins who've pursued him into the U.S.
- DirectorTim StoryStarsChloë Grace MoretzMichael PeñaColin JostA chaotic battle ensues between Jerry Mouse, who has taken refuge in the Royal Gate Hotel, and Tom Cat, who is hired to drive him away before the day of a big wedding arrives.**1/2:
I was hoping for a better movie. I lost hope yesterday when it wasn’t released for critics right away. Then I noticed Tim Story (Taxi, Shaft 2019) was the director. His best movie is Barber Shop and yeah that’s about it.
On a plus side Tom & Jerry don’t talk, like in the 1993 movie. Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass) steals the show in a movie she probably shouldn’t even be in.
As a hotel events planner who used the resume of someone more qualified. She must catch Tom and Jerry to keep the job.
Other than Tom and Jerry there to destroy a nice hotel. With their usual antics. There’s really not enough of a strong plot for the movie to be 2 hours.
With that said Tom and Jerry are charming characters. This movie at least knows how to use them. Rather than them singing and dancing, like in the 1993 movie. - DirectorDon HallCarlos López EstradaPaul BriggsStarsKelly Marie TranAwkwafinaGemma ChanIn a realm known as Kumandra, a re-imagined Earth inhabited by an ancient civilization, a warrior named Raya is determined to find the last dragon.****: Yet another beautifully made Disney film with a nice lesson about trust and selflessness.
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsHenry CavillBen AffleckGal GadotDetermined to ensure that Superman's ultimate sacrifice wasn't in vain, Bruce Wayne recruits a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions.***1/2: Instantly better than the Whedon version “and Batman v Superman” as soon as it starts. Since Whedon just brought his usual goofy one liners and tried too hard to make the DC universe less dark.
Batman v Superman still comes off as an unfocused mess story wise. This movie at least makes some of the scenes just thrown at us in that, make sense.
The film also feels more like an epic than the original version. That just wanted to be the Avengers but with DC heroes.
Snyder’s one big problem to me though is that he loves slow motion way too much. You can also say this version sets up backstories for almost 2 hrs. Which will bother some but I enjoyed all the new scenes throughout this movie. As a comic fan.
After I saw the 2017 version I kept forgetting the Justice League even got a movie honestly. This movie is so much more memorable and deserves a sequel. - DirectorAdam WingardStarsAlexander SkarsgårdMillie Bobby BrownRebecca HallThe epic next chapter in the cinematic Monsterverse pits two of the greatest icons in motion picture history against each other--the fearsome Godzilla and the mighty Kong--with humanity caught in the balance.***1/2: Godzilla vs Kong is everything you’d expect, yet I was still entertained throughout. Even if nothing surprised me. It probably would have helped if Mechagodzilla wasn’t in the trailer.
- DirectorWill GluckStarsRose ByrneDomhnall GleesonDavid OyelowoThomas and Bea are now married and living with Peter and his rabbit family. Bored of life in the garden, Peter goes to the big city, where he meets shady characters and ends up creating chaos for the whole family.***: It is perfect for April, though the movie is being released in June for some reason. Peter Rabbit 2 is a predictable but cute movie the family can enjoy during the Easter season. Well, next Easter maybe.
- DirectorBen FalconeStarsMelissa McCarthyOctavia SpencerJason BatemanIn a world where supervillains are commonplace, two estranged childhood best friends reunite after one devises a treatment that gives them powers to protect their city.
- DirectorDoug LimanStarsTom HollandDaisy RidleyDemián BichirTwo unlikely companions embark on a perilous adventure through the badlands of an unexplored planet as they try to escape a dangerous and disorienting reality where all thoughts are seen and heard by everyone.
- DirectorGuy RitchieStarsJason StathamHolt McCallanyJosh HartnettA mysteriously stoic character is hired as a security guard by a cash truck company responsible for transporting a lot of money around Los Angeles each week.***: Jason Statham stars as a new mysterious armored truck driver. Who takes out some men who try to rob his truck. Which leaves his co-workers wondering who exactly he is.
A cliched revenge/heist movie but a bad ass, stylish and entertaining one. With some twists you may or may not see coming.
Movies if you enjoyed this.: Rocknrolla, The Bank Job, Armored, Sicario, The Gentlemen, Heat, Den of Thieves - DirectorCraig BrewerStarsEddie MurphyArsenio HallShari HeadleyThe African monarch Akeem learns he has a long-lost son in the United States and must return to America to meet this unexpected heir and build a relationship with his son.
- DirectorIlya NaishullerStarsBob OdenkirkAleksey SerebryakovConnie NielsenA docile family man slowly reveals his true character after his house gets burgled by two petty thieves, which, coincidentally, leads him into a bloody war with a Russian crime boss.***: Well acted and fun even if it is literally just John Wick with a family man.
- DirectorMichael RiandaJeff RoweStarsAbbi JacobsonDanny McBrideMaya RudolphA quirky, dysfunctional family's road trip is upended when they find themselves in the middle of the robot apocalypse and suddenly become humanity's unlikeliest last hope.***1/2: Sweet, Funny, touching and a lot of fun. The Mitchells vs the Machines is a real surprise.
- DirectorSimon McQuoidStarsLewis TanJessica McNameeJosh LawsonMMA fighter Cole Young seeks out Earth's greatest champions in order to stand against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe.**1/2: Sets up a tournament that never happens. With a lot of the characters who would be in the tournament, killed off. With the lead, someone not even a character from the games.
The movie is like a superhero origin movie but with Mortal Kombat characters. - DirectorDarren Lynn BousmanStarsChris RockSamuel L. JacksonMax MinghellaA criminal mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of Saw.**: Spiral has all the cliche aspects of a cop movie with a cop who doesn’t play by the rules. Who gets stuck with a partner. As well as take on the case of who killed his friend. Sound familiar ?
To me it sounds like any 80’s or 90’s cop movie. Which it seems like Chris Rock was going for. Since he has called Spiral, Saw but with Axel Foley.
Except Axel Foley if he was after a Jigsaw copycat killer. Which of course is gory and unpleasant to watch at times since it is Saw. So maybe he should have left the comedy at home ? Or just made an action buddy cop comedy.
His character has one liners in the beginning but feels like Chris Rock being Chris Rock. The rest of the movie which calls for him to be more serious. Is like he had serious looking eye brows glued on. With him as a wannabe Dirty Harry.
Rock’s performance isn’t spectacular but the movie did keep my attention. Due to the cop killer plot and who the killer might be. Despite, like I said very little originality. - DirectorZack SnyderStarsDave BautistaElla PurnellAna de la RegueraFollowing a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.***: A fun brainless and entertaining movie. That shouldn’t be 2 hours and 27 minutes. Since despite being cool and well directed. Snyder stretches out a simple plot as a far as Michael Bay would.
Snyder is a good director that loves his own work too much. That he doesn’t know what scenes or dialogue to cut out. Which is why his version of the Justice League is 6 hours long.
Some good visuals, a fine cast and kick ass action might be enough for most viewers though. - DirectorJohn KrasinskiStarsEmily BluntMillicent SimmondsCillian MurphyFollowing the events at home, the Abbott family now face the terrors of the outside world. Forced to venture into the unknown, they realize the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats lurking beyond the sand path.***1/2: As much of an edge of your seat thrilling experience as the first film. With Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later) making a great addition to the cast.
- DirectorCraig GillespieStarsEmma StoneEmma ThompsonJoel FryA live-action prequel feature film following a young Cruella de Vil.***:
Manages to work despite it making Cruella likable and gives her a good reason not to like Dalmatians. Since the heist scenes, performances and music choices are all perfect. The direction is fine as well.
Except Cruella in this doesn’t want to kill animals and wear them. So what is the point of her name even being Cruella Devil ?
It’s like what Disney did to Maleficent who was a nice fairy until her wings were cut off. There was no sign of the evil villain from Sleeping Beauty.
Here, there’s no sign of the evil villain from One Hundred and One Dalmatians either.
Since spoiler, she even eventually owns Dalmatians. The film does give her a good reason not to like them but this version of Cruella acts like she would never kill a dog.
Despite that this is a fun and entertaining movie that really had no point in being made. Since like Maleficent it makes an evil villain good. It’s like if Disney makes a prequel movie about Palpatine from Star Wars except he is never actually evil or the bad guy. - DirectorJustin LinStarsVin DieselMichelle RodriguezJordana BrewsterDom and the crew must take on an international terrorist who turns out to be Dom and Mia's estranged brother.***: About as predictable and silly as it is entertaining. Where Dom (Vin Diesel) suddenly has a brother played by John Cena, cars swing like Tarzan and Tyrse goes to space in….a car. The film of course ends with a family barbecue “spoiler alert!”
- DirectorEnrico CasarosaStarsJacob TremblayJack Dylan GrazerEmma BermanOn the Italian Riviera, an unlikely but strong friendship grows between a human being and a sea monster disguised as a human.***1/2: Pulls off having pretty much the same lesson as the Little Mermaid. While being a nice movie about friendship. As well as a slight comparison of Luca’s sea monster secret to the fear of coming out of the closet.
- DirectorMichael ChavesStarsPatrick WilsonVera FarmigaRuairi O'ConnorArne Cheyenne Johnson stabs and murders his landlord, claiming to be under demonic possession while Ed and Lorraine Warren investigate the case and try to prove his innocence.***:
The movie is based on a true crime from the 80’s that the Warren’s investigated. The problem is that the scenes made for the movie. Has the film borrowing from Evil Dead and the Shining.
It’s also easy to predict when a potential jump scare may happen. Michael Chaves (The Curse of La Llorona) as director and not James Wan this time. Is probably why I jumped the least with this Conjuring film.
The chemistry and performances of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as the Warrens. Is the strongest aspect of the movie. Though I am still waiting for the one where they investigate the Amityville Horror house.
- DirectorPatrick HughesStarsRyan ReynoldsSamuel L. JacksonSalma HayekThe bodyguard, Michael Bryce, continues his friendship with assassin, Darius Kincaid, as they try to save Darius' wife Sonia.**1/2: Despite not having a strong reason to even exist. The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is quite funny with good chemistry between the three leads.
You’ll laugh a lot and forget about the movie by the following day. - DirectorAntoine FuquaStarsMark WahlbergChiwetel EjioforSophie CooksonA man discovers that his hallucinations are actually visions from past lives.
- DirectorJonathan HensleighStarsLiam NeesonMarcus ThomasLaurence FishburneAfter a remote diamond mine collapses in far northern Canada, a 'big-rig' ice road driver must lead an impossible rescue mission over a frozen lake to save the trapped miners.**1/2: We didn’t exactly need Liam Neeson as an ice road driver again after Cold Pursuit. That wanted to be goofy. The Ice Road is goofy while wanting us to take it seriously.
Since the villain has 9 lives and is like something from a Terminator movie. He just keeps coming and coming. Relentless on stopping Liam Neeson from saving trapped coal miners. - DirectorLeigh JaniakStarsKiana MadeiraOlivia Scott WelchBenjamin Flores Jr.A circle of teenage friends accidentally encounter the ancient evil responsible for a series of brutal murders that have plagued their town for over 300 years. Welcome to Shadyside.***: The very beginning feels like it wanted to be Scream. Then the movie becomes about witches, girls in love and possessions.
It is basically more for you if you enjoyed movies like Goosebumps and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
Though a movie that was fun and occasionally funny turns into a bummer. When characters that grow on you die violently. Which felt sudden and just to remind us we’re watching a R rated horror movie. - DirectorChris McKayStarsChris PrattYvonne StrahovskiJ.K. SimmonsA family man is drafted to fight in a future war where the fate of humanity relies on his ability to confront the past.
- DirectorTom McGrathStarsAlec BaldwinJames MarsdenAmy SedarisThe Templeton brothers have become adults and drifted away from each other, but a new boss baby with a cutting-edge approach is about to bring them together again - and inspire a new family business.
- DirectorAdam RobitelStarsTaylor RussellLogan MillerDeborah Ann WollSix people unwillingly find themselves locked in another series of escape rooms, slowly uncovering what they have in common to survive. Joining forces with two of the original survivors, they soon discover they've all played the game before.***: A sequel that keeps your attention as much as the first film. However, falls apart a bit in the end…just like the first film. Though you may be left wanting to see what happens next nevertheless.
- DirectorLeigh JaniakStarsSadie SinkEmily RuddRyan SimpkinsShadyside, 1978. School's out for summer and the activities at Camp Nightwing are about to begin. But when another Shadysider is possessed with the urge to kill, the fun in the sun becomes a gruesome fight for survival.***1/2:
The first one was almost kid friendly like Goosebumps and then threw in violent deaths of likable characters. When you least expected it.
This one is fun but you know what you're in for now. Definitely aren't kid friendly and you shouldn't get attached to anyone.
My main problem is that there’s a lot of murders of children campers. You know most of the teens are goners. The kids dying is like the film is going for darkly funny but it’s really not.
Either way, this one is almost great and better than the first. I did see the twist coming about which sister survived though. - DirectorCate ShortlandStarsScarlett JohanssonFlorence PughDavid HarbourNatasha Romanoff confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises.***:
There’s some fun in between the family drama and the family comedy stuff. David Harbour (Stranger Things) does steal the show despite the film wanting to be a girl power movie. Florence Pugh also is a scene stealer from Scarlett Johansson.
Though Pugh and Johansson don’t get much to always do. Other than talk about daddy issues or how crappy their childhoods were.
While Taskmaster is wasted and should have been a main villain in a Captain America film or even on Falcon and Winter Soldier. They just shouldn’t have used that name at all in this movie.
This film was supposed to set the return of the Marvel universe last year. It was delayed due to Covid. Shows like Wandavision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki are better. They also make us more excited for what’s next than this movie does. - DirectorLeigh JaniakStarsKiana MadeiraAshley ZukermanGillian JacobsThe origins of Sarah Fier's curse are finally revealed as history comes full circle on a night that changes the lives of Shadysiders forever.***: A little less darkly funny in 1966 and just pretty sad and brutally violent. Things get more exciting towards the end.
- DirectorMalcolm D. LeeStarsLeBron JamesDon CheadleCedric JoeA rogue artificial intelligence kidnaps the son of famed basketball player LeBron James, who then has to work with Bugs Bunny to win a basketball game.**1/2:
Due to all the Warner Brothers movie references and cameos I found the sequel even more fun than the first film. Lebron is the least interesting thing about the movie though.
Michael Jordan had more charisma on screen. Lebron is a bit wooden and too much of a control freak father to be likable in it. As Lebron’s wife, Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek Discovery) seems like she is trying too hard to win an Oscar every time she acts, even in a Space Jam movie.
The Looney Toon characters are at least entertaining throughout. Even when the basketball game they are playing isn’t as entertaining as they are. - DirectorM. Night ShyamalanStarsGael García BernalVicky KriepsRufus SewellA vacationing family discovers that the secluded beach where they're relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly, reducing their entire lives into a single day.**:
M. Night Shyamalan seems to love to bring wooden performances out of his cast. He even managed to get a robotic performance out of Will Smith in After Earth.
The way his characters interact with each other doesn’t always feel realistic either. It’s the most noticeable when there’s a number of characters together at once throwing around his stiff dialogue. Like, in The Lady in the Water for example.
Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar) could have done something interesting and creepy with the story of a beach turning people old. With Shyamalan, the film trudges along and we never really connect or care about any of the characters.
The way Shyamalan pans away from violence or death isn’t a strength either. Hitchcock, he isn’t and it just comes off more goofy than it makes him look skilled. - DirectorRobert SchwentkeStarsHenry GoldingAndrew KojiHaruka AbeA G.I. Joe spin-off centered around the character of Snake Eyes.
- DirectorJaume Collet-SerraStarsDwayne JohnsonEmily BluntEdgar RamírezBased on Disneyland's theme park ride where a small riverboat takes a group of travelers through a jungle filled with dangerous animals and reptiles but with a supernatural element.***: You’re nuts if you expected a movie based on a Disney World ride to be the next Raiders of the Lost Ark. Jungle Cruise does have fun shout outs to the ride. It is also an entertaining adventure that is The Mummy meets Pirates of the Caribbean.
- DirectorJames GunnStarsMargot RobbieIdris ElbaJohn CenaSupervillains Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker, and a collection of nutty cons at Belle Reve prison join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X as they are dropped off at the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.***1/2:
A bonkers and violent ride with an insanely great cast. John Cena who can be pretty wooden gives his best performance and has his best character.
Sylvester Stallone is also a show stealer as the voice of King Shark.
- DirectorRodo SayaguesStarsStephen LangMadelyn GraceBrendan Sexton IIIThe sequel is set in the years following the initial deadly home invasion, where Norman Nordstrom lives in quiet solace until his past sins catch up to him.**1/2: I wouldn’t say it is the same as the first. Since this time you want to see the home invaders die, violently. Stephen Lang is good but the new director Rodo Sayagues doesn’t utilize the blind man’s blindness as well as Fede Alvarez did.
The blind man feels more vulnerable and less of a threat this time. Though he was never really an evil man. He just went a little mad after losing his daughter.
He’s also probably sad and lonely, just don’t mess with him. Well, especially don’t mess with him in the first film, anyway. He’s dangerous in this just not as dangerous.
Spoiler Warning: I think the film would have been stronger if Phoenix was Rocky’s daughter. Rocky is not Stallone but Jane Levy’s character is the first film. It would have made perfect sense if the blind man stole Rocky’s daughter. Some years later, for revenge.
Instead the movie is like Blind Fury that starred the late great Rutger Hauer as a blind hero. - DirectorShawn LevyStarsRyan ReynoldsJodie ComerTaika WaititiWhen Guy, a bank teller, learns that he is a non-player character in a bloodthirsty, open-world video game, he goes on to become the hero of the story and takes the responsibility of saving the world.***1/2: A real surprise best described as
Lego Movie meets Wreck-It Ralph meets Ready Player One. It works though and Ryan Reynolds is of course in good form. As an extra in a video game who decides to be more. - DirectorNia DaCostaStarsYahya Abdul-Mateen IITeyonah ParrisNathan Stewart-JarrettA sequel to the horror film Candyman (1992) that returns to the now-gentrified Chicago neighborhood where the legend began.**1/2: On paper it sounds pretty deserving for racist cops and other racists to meet Candyman. As an actual movie it’s a pretty disappointing use of Candyman.
Even if seeing Candyman take on racist cops for the time being might be satisfying. The movie itself doesn’t stick with you as much the original. Due to just not being as terrifying. Since Peele just uses Candyman to get the same message across that he has done better in the past. - DirectorDestin Daniel CrettonStarsSimu LiuAwkwafinaTony Leung Chiu-waiShang-Chi, the master of weaponry-based Kung Fu, is forced to confront his past after being drawn into the Ten Rings organization.***1/2:
Both exciting and occasionally pretty funny, something I can’t say about Black Widow. Which didn’t leave much of an impression on me.
The bus fight made me think of Jackie Chan which is a good thing since his fights were always fun. When this film starts to turn into a fantasy with mystical creatures it got a little silly but was still entertaining.
Besides if there can be aliens, talking raccoons, wizards and gods. Marvel can introduce anything else they want to. Spoiler Warning: like dragons for example. - DirectorCedric Nicolas-TroyanStarsMary Elizabeth WinsteadWoody HarrelsonMiku MartineauA jaded assassin assigned to target a yakuza clan has 24 hours to find out who poisoned her and get vengeance before she dies.
- DirectorJames WanStarsAnnabelle WallisMaddie HassonGeorge YoungMadison is paralyzed by shocking visions of grisly murders, and her torment worsens as she discovers that these waking dreams are in fact terrifying realities.** 1/2:
Malignant gets goofier as it goes on and Annabelle Wallis’ acting seems to get worse. I think she was meant to go for B-Movie horror acting though. It’s like Wan was trying to make a B-movie on purpose which is a waste of his talents.
The movie is so visually stunning and nice to look at that I wished all the effort wasn’t wasted on it. Also that something so bad didn’t have my 100% interest throughout.
- DirectorAndy SerkisStarsTom HardyWoody HarrelsonMichelle WilliamsEddie Brock attempts to reignite his career by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady, who becomes the host of the symbiote Carnage and escapes prison after a failed execution.***: Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) makes an enemy out of serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson). When he figures out where Kasady hid his victims bodies. Without printing the story Kasady wanted him to print. About how Cletus had a bad childhood.
Then Cletus as infected with his own symbiote named Carnage when he bites Eddie. Cletus plans to use Carnage to find his crazy girlfriend Frances (Naomie Harris) who has shrieking powers. Who was taken to a secured prison for people with powers.
While Eddie and Venom must learn to get along to defeat the villains. The two not getting along is the most entertaining parts of the movie.
There’s not really enough to the story for the movie to really stick with you. However, the end credits scene is what will leave you wanting more. - DirectorConrad VernonGreg TiernanLaura BrousseauStarsOscar IsaacCharlize TheronChloë Grace MoretzThe Addams get tangled up in more wacky adventures and find themselves involved in hilarious run-ins with all sorts of unsuspecting characters. Sequel to the 2019 animated film, 'The Addams Family'.***: Despite a lazy vacation plot that’s cliche at this point. This sequel is a real surprise next to the laugh less first film. With more of the qualities that made the 90’s films good.
- DirectorKirk R. ThatcherStarsWill ArnettTaraji P. HensonDarren CrissOn Halloween night, Gonzo is challenged to spend one night in The Haunted Mansion.***: The film doesn’t make full use of the Muppets or even the haunted mansion. The actors who show up are at least in good form though. Especially Taraji P. Henson as a black widow looking for her next victim. As well as Will Armett as the host of the mansion.
- DirectorCary Joji FukunagaStarsDaniel CraigAna de ArmasRami MalekJames Bond has left active service. His peace is short-lived when Felix Leiter, an old friend from the CIA, turns up asking for help, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsThomasin McKenzieAnya Taylor-JoyMatt SmithAspiring fashion designer Eloise is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s, where she encounters dazzling wannabe singer Sandie. But the glamour is not as it seems, and the dreams of the past crack and splinter into something darker.
- DirectorDenis VilleneuveStarsTimothée ChalametRebecca FergusonZendayaA noble family becomes embroiled in a war for control over the galaxy's most valuable asset while its heir becomes troubled by visions of a dark future.***1/2:
A bit slow but I recommend watching Blade Runner 2049 or Arrival first. To get used to Denis Villeneuve‘s work. Since he is more about the story, visuals and a lot of dialogue than non-stop action.
The film is like an old school epic that are made much anymore, nevertheless. A stunning and engaging epic.
If you liked this, check out.: Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, Dune (1984), FRANK HERBERT'S 'DUNE', Children of Dune - DirectorDavid Gordon GreenStarsJamie Lee CurtisJudy GreerAndi MatichakSurviving victims of Michael Myers form a vigilante mob and vow to end his reign of terror.***: Michael Myers survivors from the past unite to take him out. The problem is that he is a relentless killer and they are pretty stupid.
Especially since Tommy Doyle (Anthony Michael Hall) who is supposed to be a Myers expert. Plans on taking him out with a baseball bat.
The movie is an insane and non-stop violent ride. That may or may not leave you wanting more. It depends on how many more people you want to see brutally killed in the next one, Halloween Ends.
This one even manages to out do Rob Zombie with the kill count. Which will please people who like that sort of thing.
Anyone who wanted another Laurie Strode and Michael Myers confrontation will be disappointed though. You’ll have to wait until the last movie, Halloween ends for that. - DirectorSarah SmithJean-Philippe VineOctavio E. RodriguezStarsJack Dylan GrazerZach GalifianakisEd HelmsThe story of Barney, an awkward middle-schooler and Ron, his new walking, talking, digitally-connected device. Ron's malfunctions set against the backdrop of the social media age launch them on a journey to learn about true friendship.***1/2: A real surprise that is a ton of fun. Though it may some-what remind some of Big Hero 6 without the superhero plot.
- DirectorChloé ZhaoStarsGemma ChanRichard MaddenAngelina JolieThe saga of the Eternals, a race of immortal beings who lived on Earth and shaped its history and civilizations.***: Eternals got treated like it was Marvel’s Batman v Superman. Despite some bad pacing, the movie is really good once it picks up.
The acting is fine despite no ever really completely standing out and stealing the show. Except for maybe Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo who always has a an employee following him around with a video camera and backup video cameras.
The credits Eros (Harry Styles) scene was funner than most scenes of the movie though. So it should have actually ended with that scene. - DirectorWalt BeckerStarsDarby CampJack WhitehallIzaac WangA young girl's love for a tiny puppy named Clifford makes the dog grow to an enormous size.***: A perfectly cute movie for the family. So cute that you may forgive it that everything in it feels familiar. A villain that wants Clifford to experiment on him to see what made him so big. Some how feels like I have seen him in many family films before this.
- DirectorDan MazerStarsEllie KemperRob DelaneyArchie YatesA married couple tries to steal back a valuable heirloom from a troublesome kid.**: I agreed with Kevin in the original two. Buzz was a jerk and should have been punished too in both movies. This kid Max (Archie Yates) is an unlikable jerk though despite a talented kid wasted as him.
This time, the robbers are more likable from the start. Max’s mom also agrees with her son when he says a stranger looks like Frankenstein’s monster, right to his face. So yeah she is a jerk too.
In this film the crooks are a married couple losing their house. They think Max took a doll from them at their open house that is worth money and they just want it back. So it’s hard to take his part and want to see him hurt these people.
I mean Max steals the doll from the husband after making fun of him for collecting dolls. So it is actually Max that needed to learn a lesson.
This is the worst and laziest excuse for a movie ever from Disney +. Even if the movie is some-what more likable in the end but it’s too late by then.
- DirectorJason ReitmanStarsCarrie CoonPaul RuddFinn WolfhardWhen a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.***1/2: It lacks character build up or an original story but has plenty of heart and charm. It also has a nice 80’s family movie feel to it. It’s not a spectacular movie but it’s a nice movie.
Yet it still will probably make you wish there was more to it despite being a pretty decent return of the series. That is still at least more like the original than the 2016 movie. Even if it pretty much acts like more didn’t happen after the 1984 incident.
So some fans might not like that it didn’t only erase the 2016 movie but possibly the 1989 sequel as well. Critics who didn’t like it call it too much of a fan service which yeah can be surprisingly disappointing. It however it does still work as a heartfelt Harold Ramis tribute.
Leslie Jones called this movie a dickish move that it was made instead of a sequel to her 2016 movie. However, her movie is a dickish move since it was an unnecessary reboot that made believe the 1984 film never happened. Especially too close to when Harold Ramis just died. - DirectorMiguel SapochnikStarsTom HanksCaleb Landry JonesMarie WagenmanOn a post-apocalyptic Earth, a robot, built to protect the life of his creator's beloved dog learns about life, love, friendship and what it means to be human.
- DirectorJared BushByron HowardCharise Castro SmithStarsStephanie BeatrizMaría Cecilia BoteroJohn LeguizamoA Colombian teenage girl has to face the frustration of being the only member of her family without magical powers.***: Not the most memorable from Disney animation this year. It of course does have its charm though.
- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsAnsel ElgortRachel ZeglerAriana DeBoseAn adaptation of the 1957 musical, West Side Story explores forbidden love and the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds.
- DirectorJon WattsStarsTom HollandZendayaBenedict CumberbatchWith Spider-Man's identity now revealed, Peter asks Doctor Strange for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.****:
Some spoilers, that the trailers pretty much gave away already. There’s so much to take in with this 3rd film of the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy. When Peter (Tom Holland) gets revealed as Spider-Man. It not only ruins his life but the lives of his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) as well.
He tries to fix this by having Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) erase the memories of everyone knowing he is Spider-Man. He keeps throwing in exceptions of who not to include, which messes up the spell.
Which brings in villains among other people, from different dimensions. Peter doesn’t want to send them back to their deaths. Despite Doctor Strange being in a rush to send them back.
That is all I will say. The movie is a bit long, almost as long as Dune. It definitely does keep your attention the whole time. Despite a lot of talking in between each action scene. The movie is entertaining and satisfying for Spider-Man fans.

To find out if his reality is a construct, to truly know himself, Mr. Anderson will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more.***: The special ingredients that made the original good was a smart script, Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving. Resurrections isn’t as entertaining without Fishburne or Weaving. It is however at least more like the first film than Reloaded and Revolutions.
It is trippy and has the Wonderland like references that made the first good. It just takes longer than it should to get started.
It also doesn’t exactly know how to be as exciting as the original. Though, I would still call it the second best. Since I was not as disappointed in it as I was with the first two sequels. Especially Revolutions, which lacked any Kung-Fu.
My biggest complaint though is that if you are going to get new actors to play Morpheus and Smith. At least get ones that don’t feel like they are Hallmark channel actors.
Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist) are the best new additions, easily. In the end though the film is about finding yourself.
