- DirectorMassimo Alì MohammadStarsAlexander la RueStefano MuroniMary Di TommasoA love letter to early Italian cinema, Love Among the Ruins is a faux documentary about the miraculous discovery and restoration of a long-lost Italian silent film. The genius of the Lumini brothers, two cinematic visionaries almost overlooked in the history of cinema, ignites the imagination of a contemporary filmmaker who makes the discovery of a lifetime. In 2012, a 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck northern Italy, severely affecting the historic city of Ferrara and surrounding areas and causing significant damage to the region's Medieval and Renaissance architecture. However, a cracked wall in Ferrara's municipal building revealed a hidden treasure: several cans of old film. Could this be the long-lost silent romance written and directed by the Lumini brothers of Ferrara in the early 1920s? Can the deteriorated film be repaired so new audiences around the world can enjoy this moving story of lovers caught in the events of World War I? Scholars speculate, experts and archivists hypothesize, and finally, the 90-year old film is restored and set to a new musical score. The talents of actors long passed away (or maybe not!) and the beauty of Ferrara in the 1920s (as well as today) are once again seen on the screen with a tale as striking and poignant for today's viewers as it was nearly a century ago.

- DirectorJeffrey VasseurIn 'The Box', Jack is a homeless war veteran who lives in a cardboard box, in a wooded area of St. Augustine. He has been on the move since 1968. Jack is coaxed out of his box by a reporter who persuades him to participate in an interview. He is a philosopher, a lover, a fighter, and a theologian. The Box will move you; making you think, cry, and laugh. Throughout the engaging conversation about homelessness in contemporary America, it becomes clear that Jack suffers from PTSD, much like thousands of other veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. This a unique film, that captures and exposes, for consideration, many issues in America that span across gender, race, and age boundaries. War, discrimination, and true compassion (and positive action) for one's fellow man must be dealt with by each person in each generation. The timelessness of the subject matter results in a film of interest to all. 'The Box' was filmed on a miniscule budget, with the donated time of a lot of people. 'The Box' is a film adaptation of the play, 'The Box', performed by the writer/actor in St Augustine, FL. The director's vision of transforming the play into a film for the benefit of the homeless, that would engage people of all ages, genders, and race was accomplished for approximately $5000 (from the start of film discussions to finishing the film copy that was provided for this festival). The technical efficiency and content quality for this budget is fantastic.
- DirectorMitchell BabarovichStarsMitchell BabarovichDonovan CadmanJay KingDuring Operation Husky in July of 1943, Paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division are tasked with rescuing an Allied pilot carrying vital intelligence for the assault across Sicily.
- DirectorLuc CuyversStarsRanulph FiennesAdam RileyThe Salient-- the half circle north and east of the Flemish city of Ypres-- was one of the most contested spots of the Great War. No more than five miles across, more than a million people were killed or wounded in this small area during four years of bitter fighting. Over time the Ypres Salient came to symbolize every description heard in con¬junction with the Great War: sacrifice, courage, honor and duty just as much as chaos, slaughter, calamity and utter senselessness. The film is structured as a requiem , relying on music written for that purpose, mostly 19th century and by composers from both sides of the line. In stark contrast with the beauty of the music are the accounts of people who witnessed the Salient's horrors firsthand. The film thus pits the best of what Europe ever produced against its absolute worst. And so the film turns into a requiem not only for the fallen, but also for a city, an age and, quite possibly, for sanity itself.
