In 2006 R.J. Mitte moved to Hollywood, California, with his family to support the foray of his sister, actress Lacianne Carriere, into print and commercial work. For fun, Mitte began training with Los Angeles talent manager Addison K. Witt in Sherman Oaks, Cal. And though many of the actors in the studio were working actors, Mitte was using acting as a means to build friendship with kids his own age while living in a new city. At the encouragement of Witt and talent agent Debra Manners of the Daniel Hoff Agency, Mitte began auditioning for commercials and TV shows like Grey's Anatomy (2005). Mitte tried his hand at background roles and became a regular student on the popular Disney show Hannah Montana (2006), later being romantically linked to the show's iconic star, Miley Cyrus.
Mitte was cast as Walt White Jr., a series regular, and character with cerebral palsy on AMC Network's Breaking Bad (2008). And though Mitte has a mild case of the same condition, he had to do what all actors do: research the character and even relearn many of the challenges he had endured as a child in order to convey a more pronounced version of CP. The Daily Advertiser, a Lafayette, La., newspaper learned of Mitte's work in Hollywood and featured him in an article, noting that R.J. was homegrown, and off to a great start in Hollywood.- Fátima Ptacek is an American film and television actress and model, and a human rights activist working with UN Women's #HeForShe campaign for gender equality. She is a gymnast, competing at United States of America Gymastics Level 7, and takes part in English equestrian riding; as of 2010, she noted that she was hoping to qualify for the Olympic Games. In 2010, she noted that she was aiming for a scholarship to Harvard or Yale, and was enrolled in an academy for intellectually gifted children; that year, she suggested she may be too old to act by that point. In 2013, she was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. She has expressed interest in transitioning from acting to a career in law someday. Her childhood dream was to be elected President of the United States; and her remarks led to her being invited to view the New York State Assembly and New York State Senate debate in person. She was acknowledged by Assemblyman Francisco Moya on the floor of the Assembly and recognized for her contributions to the arts. In 2013, Ptacek was recognized for her academic, professional, and philanthropic success by the New York City Council with a Proclamation from then Council Speaker Christine Quinn and Council Member Daniel Dromm. In addition to being fluent in English and Spanish, Ptacek has been studying Mandarin Chinese since childhood. As a child actress, Ptacek appeared in more than 70 television commercials, and on the covers of numerous national magazines. She was also one of the few child models who had the privilege of walking the runway at Bryant Park during the annual Fall Fashion Week in New York City. Discovered by Wilhelmina Models, then represented by New York's Abrams Artists Agency during her child acting and modeling career, the critical acclaim she received for her role in the Oscar-winning film Curfew led to efforts by the "Big Four" talent agencies - Creative Artist Agency (CAA), United Talent Agency (UTA), William Morris Endeavor (WME), and International Creative Management (ICM) - to recruit her, and ultimately, she chose to work with ICM. Ptacek was one of the highest-paid child models in the world, earning approximately $250,000 annually as of 2010, when she had appeared as the "face of" Ralph Lauren, and worked in major campaigns for high end designers like Bonnie Young, Miss Sixty, Monna Lisa, and Siviglia, and fashion houses like Guess, The Gap, H&M, and Benetton. One of her most notable campaigns was for Macy's in 2009, when she revived Natalie Wood's childhood role of "Virginia" in Macy's Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus -themed campaign for the holiday season, which saw Ptacek's appearance in a series of full page advertisements in each of New York's major newspapers, TV commercials with celebrities, such as Queen Latifah, Donald Trump, Martha Stewart, and Carlos Ponce, and public appearances on behalf of Macy's that sought to raise support for the literacy organization, Reading is Fundamental (RIF). She also appeared on the cover of Newsweek. Her parents told her that they were paying for people to photograph her, as opposed to vice versa.
Fátima volunteers as a "Celebrity Ambassador" for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and has done work for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in conjunction with the Macy's Believe Campaign, and the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. Frank Nunez, (Producer/Director), an award winning filmmaker, got his first start in filmmaking when he decided one day to put down his 9mm gun and pick up a 16mm camera.
Frank's life did not begin with the Hollywood dream. He did not take dad's camera at the age of seven and start making movies. His life was more like a Hollywood movie. Frank grew up in the Vista barrio, son to immigrant farm workers that couldn't afford for him to experience the excitement on the silver screen.
Raised by a single mother, Frank soon became a statistic and fell into the hands of the streets. At the age of thirteen, he joined the local neighborhood gang. Within no time, Frank was serving time in San Diego Juvenile Hall. One evening during his stay, Frank was allowed the privilege to watch a movie. He became fascinated by the moving image. For the first time in his life, something gave him that feeling of hope.
Sadly, Frank's life did not change upon release. But that hope still set in his belly. One day Frank and some friends ditched school and attended the screening of Edward James Olmos' "American Me". That would be the movie that would change Nunez's life forever. Right there and then, Frank Nunez knew he wanted to make movies. Years later, Frank signed up at a community college and without encouragement, without anyone to believe in him, Frank told the world he was going to be a filmmaker.
Frank graduated with honors at California State University Northridge with a degree in Cinema Television of Arts emphasis Film Production. There in the San Fernando Valley, Frank worked on many films in order to craft his directing skills. The hands on experience helped him find the talent within and created a filmmaking giant. After school, Frank headed back to San Diego with his wife, Christina, and child Isaiah. He had many ideas and dreams to be fulfilled.
On that journey, he formed a film production company called "Little Boyz Dreams, LLC" and came up with the idea to shoot a feature length film for fewer than ten thousand dollars; thus, "187 Shadow Lane" was born. After learning the fundamentals of indie filmmaking, he took a leap of faith to get the award winning comedy "The Yardsale" off the ground. At this point in his career, Nunez has various projects in different stages of development and looks forward to make his mark in Hollywood.- Actress
