- DirectorBrett KellyStarsEmanuelle CarriereChristine EmesCeline FilionWhen an oil company unwittingly unleashes a prehistoric shark from its icy prison, the Jurassic killer maroons a group of thieves and beautiful young female college students on an abandoned island.Watched it because it was recommended as so bad it's fun. As a film it really deserves only one star, but I had so much fun with its inaptitude, made bearable due to its short running time (without titles it's about 55 minutes), and its music is a notch better than the rest, so here I am, giving it actually two points.
★★ (Nov 5, 2022) - DirectorJohn WatersStarsJohnny DeppRicki LakeAmy LocaneIn 1950s Baltimore, a bad boy with a heart of gold wins the love of a good girl, whose boyfriend sets out for revenge.Well, today was a first - I have never seen a film by John Waters before. Now, I have heard stuff, so I was kind of prepared, still… it is an acquired taste. Still, good, silly fun, Johnny was young and handsome, overall rather weird, but the good weird.
★★★★★★ (Nov 6, 2022) - DirectorEnzo BarboniStarsTerence HillBud SpencerYanti SomerBambino tries to teach his brother Trinity how to become an outlaw, but the two wind up saving a pioneer family and breaking up an arms ring instead. It was not the first time I have watched this film and it will definitely not be the last time. A classic, with many memorable scenes, from the opening in the desert, the restaurant scene, the "shoot-out" with Wildcat Hendricks in the bar, and so on… This time I watched the so-called comedy version of the German dub.
★★★★★★★ (Nov 6, 2022) - DirectorAntony CordierStarsMelvil PoupaudGéraldine PailhasMichel VuillermozDidier gets to know his new team and discovers their huge backlog of unresolved cases. He learns that a commission has been set up to investigate the explosion of his rocket, and that his ex-wife, Elise, might testify against him.OVNI(s)
While the first episode of relatively little interest in a rewatch, the second episode flashes out the characters and starts to display the future direction of the show.
★★★★★★★(Nov 7, 2022) - DirectorEnzo BarboniStarsTerence HillBud SpencerDavid HuddlestonAn attempted robbery turns to be an unexpected recruitment when two unemployed men mistakenly break into a police office instead of a store.Another flick I have watch multiple times. This one a pretty straight forward action comedy, with Carlo and Mario aka Bud and Terence in top form, and David Huddleston in a wonderful supporting role. Laura Gemser proves again that she cannot act, fortunately her part is rather small.
★★★★★★★★ (Nov 8, 2022, and again on Nov 20, and Jan 2, 2023) - DirectorSergio CorbucciStarsTerence HillErnest BorgnineJoanne DruRed powder from a nuclear explosion gives a police officer super powers as long as he doesn't see anything red. He is eventually framed for murder and is unsuccessfully executed by many different methods. Not a masterpiece, but supported by two very likeable performances from Terence Hill and Ernest Borgnine.
★★★★★★ (Nov 9, 2022) - DirectorManny RodriguezStarsGabriel IglesiasMartin MorenoAlfred RoblesFeatures Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias as he talks about growing up in Los Angeles, an attempt at extortion towards him, and where he holds the record for receiving the highest fine on stage.Impressive deed indeed, and while it was good as always, earlier specials have been funnier.
★★★★★★★ (Nov 11, 2022) - DirectorMarc TileyStarsGraham HancockAli AkbarDanny Hilman NatawidjajaIn his quest to find traces of an advanced, lost civilization of the Ice Age, host Graham Hancock travels to Indonesia to investigate a megalithic pyramid that appears to date back to the last Ice Age, when the island of Java was part of a great landmass known as Sundaland.Graham Hancock is a self-proclaimed crusader to find evidence for his long-held foregone conclusion that there must be an ancient ice age civilization. At least since the discoveries at Göbekli Tepe, prehistoric lost civilizations have become a distinct possibility, but Graham still identifies as the boogeyman of archaeologists (without any critical self-reflection about why that might be).
So, here we plunge into his usual rhetoric about him being the anti-mainstream hero, followed about this idea of a global flood. But then comes a story, hardly connected to the flood story, the megalithic structure Gunung Padang and its possible age. Unfortunately, what follows is emblematic of Hancock's work: he shows those reports and witnesses that support his view, but never any alternative. He said that he's not a scientist, just a journalist. But journalists should also present opposing views and question everything. (Maybe, we have an answer to the boogeyman image.)
Technically, there's nothing to be said about the show. It's made by Netflix and so looks great. As a diversion (and not taken at face value), it's fun. Let's just hope, one day someone takes the basic idea serious and makes a truly educated and educating documentary.
I'd give it a 7 for the fun factor and technical quality, but just a 3 for the methodology.
★★★★★ (Nov 12, 2022) - DirectorMarc TileyStarsGraham HancockJoe RoganGeoffrey McCaffertyGraham's quest takes him to Mexico's ancient pyramids, to explore the tradition of Quetzalcoatl, the "Civilizing Hero" who showed up after the Great Flood to teach humanity the ways of civilization. For a basic criticism on the show, its concept and ideas, look at the review for the first episode, Once There Was a Flood.
In the second episode, Graham Hancock returns to the old idea that all pyramids on this world originate in their basic concept in his proposed ancient ice age civilization. The idea has never been convincing before, and it doesn't get better, because the argument has been and remains weak.

Malta is one of the places I would love to go to. Graham Hancock poses the right questions…

★★★★★ (Nov 12, 2022) - DirectorEnzo BarboniStarsGiuliano GemmaBud SpencerRobert MiddletonStriving for a higher standard of living, a former ice-cream man and a wrestler convince a well-known mobster to hire them. However, they both soon realize that criminal life is not what they were looking for.A slight change from the typical flicks that Bud did with Terence Hill, with Giuliano Gemma filling in for Terence. While Gemma did not simply copy Terence's style but made his own thing (which is good), unfortunately his part is rather annoying from the beginning. The film is mostly saved by Bud Spencer in fine form and an excellent Robert Middleton.
★★★★★★ (Nov 17, 2022) - DirectorSergio CorbucciStarsTerence HillBud SpencerLuciano CatenacciA Navy detective enlists his brother, a former gambler, to help him liquidate an illegal gaming house on a yacht near Miami.A better Terence Hill and Bud Spencer vehicle.
★★★★★★★ (Nov 18, 2022) - DirectorBruno CorbucciStarsBud SpencerTomas MilianMarc LawrenceA playboy who makes a living out of seducing women and stealing their jewellery accidentally witnesses a Mafia murder. He must work together with the man who is constantly trying to catch him, Lt. Alan Parker, in order to save his life.Bud Spencer solo, here with Tomas Milian playing foil to Bud (instead of Terence Hill). And while between Terence and Bud the dynamics hardly ever change, but in part because it works, whenever they give Bud in his own solo vehicles a foil, the part is usually quite exaggerated.
Overall, a weak entry to Bud's filmography, but a rare occasion to see him play a mostly ordinary guy with a family life.
★★★★★ (Nov 19, 2022) - DirectorMarc TileyStarsGraham HancockNecmi KarulMartin SweatmanGraham takes us to the site of Gobekli Tepe in Turkey, where civilization was mysteriously "rebooted" after the last Ice Age, and where the animals carved into the pillars may mark the date of an Ancient Apocalypse.I have not reviewed the previous episode, Ghosts of a Drowned World, basically it would be near identical to my review of Sirius Rising.
With this episode, the show finally delivered. While speculative as hell, it is backed by a reasonable interpretation of facts.
It's the legacy of old works and previous episodes that makes me suspicious of some of Graham Hancock’s dates and thus his conclusions. I don't know whether to trust his science.

★★★★★★★ (Nov 20, 2022) - DirectorMarc TileyStarsGraham HancockMark Brink Jr.Jeff WilsonGraham heads to America, to investigate its mysterious ancient mounds that show a sophisticated knowledge of astronomy. Does the ancient "Serpent Mound" in Ohio suggest a date for the Ancient Apocalypse - and what caused it?Graham Hancock continues his line of reasoned speculation, marred by some apologist defence and attack on the archaeologists, both specific (kinda justified) and general (as the unjust victim of establishment).
The ideas presented here are interesting. And though they are not scientific in the strictest sense, they also reveal some flaws in generally accepted theories.

★★★★★★ (Nov 20, 2022) - DirectorGeorge CukorStarsAudrey HepburnRex HarrisonStanley HollowayIn 1910s London, snobbish phonetics professor Henry Higgins agrees to a wager that he can make crude flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, presentable in high society. While there’s the occasional moment that feels dated, overall it is a beautifully staged musical, with excellent performances by everyone, and despite (seemingly) everyone's great opinion of Audrey Hepburn, my favourite is still Rex Harrison.
★★★★★★★★ (Nov 23, 2022) - DirectorTim BurtonStarsJenna OrtegaGwendoline ChristieRiki LindhomeWhen a deliciously wicked prank gets Wednesday expelled, her parents ship her off to Nevermore Academy, the boarding school where they fell in love.Barry Sonnenfeld’s two Addams Family movies are among my favourites for a good presentation of an outsider family, and so, naturally, I would have loved some new Addams. But experience has shown that the Addams concept seems to be difficult to grasp. But hey, let’s give it a chance, right?
Unfortunately, everything about these Addamses is off. While all family members, both in the 60s show and the two aforementioned 90s movies, were people that cared about each other, they merely had a different set of aesthetics and ethics, none of it showed here.
But once the first third of the episode has passed, and you chose to forget that this isn’t about any Addams family member, the story got reasonably enjoyable, and at the end of it, there is even a good chance that I might continue watching.
★★★★★★ (Nov 25, 2022) - DirectorDavid Paul MeyerStarsTrevor NoahIn his third special show, comedian Trevor Noah talks learning German, speaking ill of the dead, judging people in horror movies, dealing with modern communication, and ordering Indian food in Scotland.Schadenfreude. While in Germany, Trevor learned a new word and - seemingly - a new concept. And then goes on to indulge in Schadenfreude, at the expense of multiple targets, including himself.
Funny, but not groundbreaking.
★★★★★★★ (Nov 25, 2022) - DirectorTim BurtonStarsJenna OrtegaGwendoline ChristieRiki LindhomeThe sheriff questions Wednesday about the night's strange happenings. ★★★★★★★★ (Nov 26, 2022) - DirectorAlan BromlyStarsTom BakerLalla WardLewis FianderThe Starliner Empress comes out of warp and collides with a scientific survey ship, the Hecate. The Doctor and Romana arrive offering to help separate the two ships but all is not as it seems. In the past, I never watched a single episode of the original Doctor Who show. Now a certifiable Whovian, I try at least to catch the occasional story.
Nightmare of Eden dates from the Tom Baker period, with his companion Romana. The story is actually quite interesting, most effects are, er, well, effective, save for the creatures (not in the design, but the movements made by their actors). The least convincing part of these episodes were (sadly) Tom Baker and Lalla Ward.
