- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleMichael CaineKen WatanabeAfter witnessing his parents' death, Bruce learns the art of fighting to confront injustice. When he returns to Gotham as Batman, he must stop a secret society that intends to destroy the city.Brilliantly told origin of Batman. Nothing more, nothing less.
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsBen AffleckHenry CavillAmy AdamsBatman is manipulated by Lex Luthor to fear Superman. Superman´s existence is meanwhile dividing the world and he is framed for murder during an international crisis. The heroes clash and force the neutral Wonder Woman to reemerge.Brilliant deconstruction of Bruce Wayne's PTSD and the psychological reason why he became Batman.
- DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsVal KilmerTommy Lee JonesJim CarreyBatman must battle former district attorney Harvey Dent, who is now Two-Face and Edward Nygma, The Riddler with help from an amorous psychologist and a young circus acrobat who becomes his sidekick, Robin. The first one to actually delve into Bruce's psyche and reasons for why he's Batman. The Robin story is perfectly succinct with this. Jim Carrey's Riddler is underrated and better than Paul Dano's. #ReleasetheSchumacherCut
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHeath LedgerAaron EckhartWhen the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice.Bale's growl, the slow first act, and the fridging of Rachel (literally everything involving that character) REALLY lowers the score, but everything else is excellent.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleTom HardyAnne HathawayEight years after the Joker's reign of chaos, Batman is coerced out of exile with the assistance of the mysterious Selina Kyle in order to defend Gotham City from the vicious guerrilla terrorist Bane.
- DirectorKevin AltieriBoyd KirklandFrank PaurStarsKevin ConroyDana DelanyHart BochnerBatman is wrongly implicated in a series of murders of mob bosses actually committed by a new vigilante assassin.Batman is a lame detective who can't even figure out the twist (especially since the "culprit" is literally the person he's obsessing over) and Bruce Wayne whines WAY too much.
- DirectorMatt ReevesStarsRobert PattinsonZoë KravitzJeffrey WrightWhen a sadistic serial killer begins murdering key political figures in Gotham, Batman is forced to investigate the city's hidden corruption and question his family's involvement.Boring, uneventful, and redundant to past Batman movies. Too much telling, not enough showing. Barely delves into Bruce's thought process and psyche at all (also a problem with the Burton films and Batman & Robin). Ending feels tacked on and only exists to have a big set piece. The "family involvement" subplot is such an afterthought and it doesn't help that Bruce Wayne is completely non-existent as a character.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsMichael KeatonJack NicholsonKim BasingerThe Dark Knight of Gotham City begins his war on crime with his first major enemy being Jack Napier, a criminal who becomes the clownishly homicidal Joker. It's nice to look at, but as a movie, specifically a Batman movie, it sucks.
- DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerGeorge ClooneyChris O'DonnellBatman and Robin try to keep their relationship together even as they must stop Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy from freezing Gotham City.'Nuff said.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsMichael KeatonDanny DeVitoMichelle PfeifferWhile Batman deals with a deformed man calling himself the Penguin wreaking havoc across Gotham with the help of a cruel businessman, a female employee of the latter becomes the Catwoman with her own vendetta.Ditto to '89. Literally has nothing to do with Batman other than aesthetics.
