- DirectorGregory HoblitStarsDiane LaneColin HanksJoseph CrossFBI agent Jennifer Marsh is tasked with hunting down a seemingly untraceable serial killer who posts live videos of his victims on the Internet. As time runs out, the cat and mouse chase becomes more personal.A top-notch movie on how FBI tracks and fights online crime, in this case: gruesome video murders broadcasted online using low TTL web servers (i.e. untraceable).
You will be set in the mood of the movie right from the start. I wished all hacker-thrillers started like this. Well written (from a computer security point of view) and intense suspense which will keep you glued to the screen from from start to finish. Even though the lead actor is a female, you will not feel short-changed. There were no poisonous feminists back in 2008.
Keep snacks & drinks nearby. (A good DVD purchase for you or for gifting). - DirectorD.J. CarusoStarsShia LaBeoufMichelle MonaghanRosario DawsonJerry and Rachel are two strangers thrown together by a mysterious phone call from a woman they have never met. Threatening their lives and family, she pushes Jerry and Rachel into a series of increasingly dangerous situations, using the technology of everyday life to track and control their every move.A US military A.I becomes self-righteous after discovering that politicians are just scumbags. Take a number sweetheart! Can you imagine if Donald Trump ran for president back then?? That A.I would nuke us all instantly!
The A.I "brain" computer hacks simpleton machines (which presumably run Windows) and also cyber-bullies civilians to achieve her goals. Not really like Terminator 2's Skynet, which uses only machines to fight for its ideology: "Kill all humans!"
If you like Eagle Eye then you will laugh at its budget sister "Echelon Conspiracy" which I won't be listing here. But if you do watch both, you'll find out how a few millions in additional budget can change a movie from B-movie to grade-A premium. - DirectorLen WisemanStarsBruce WillisJustin LongTimothy OlyphantJohn McClane and a young hacker join forces to take down master cyber-terrorist Thomas Gabriel in Washington D.C.Nice to see Bruce Willis and the Die Hard franchise catch up with the Internet age. Justin Long plays in it (he's from the Mac vs. PC adverts). The plot: Our society has an unhealthy reliance on computers and networks which are inherently insecure. So why attach critical services to the internet? Who are those dumba** IT contractors who develop such poor systems and flog it to corporations and the government? Isn't all that an accident in waiting? In this movie, a disgruntled ex-security advisor cashes-in on all this by wreaking havoc on the national computer systems (gov, energy, traffic, etc...). A top-notch action-hacking movie. Definitely a keeper!
- DirectorJoe KawasakiStarsEmily SomersTravis Aaron WadeMartin CoppingA female hacker races against time to figure out the code on an iPhone that is glued to her hand. The 40 min runtime length of this film goes fast. I have to be frank with you: Besides the obvious, I didn't get what this movie was about! Were they trying to make a deeper point than shutting down everything we take for granted? Because if it's just about shutting down everything electronic then I wasn't impressed. But if this is your cup of tea, then a watch the tv-series "Revolution 2012" for different take on this same idea.
- DirectorDavid CronenbergStarsJude LawJennifer Jason LeighIan HolmA game designer on the run from assassins must play her latest virtual reality creation with a marketing trainee to determine if the game has been damaged.VR Gaming - If you liked The Matrix and teleporting your mind into a computer generated avatar, then you'll love the weirdness and twists in eXistenZ. In this movie, a bunch of gamers jack into a Cluedo-type computer game and try to complete it. It's a pretty good movie, so don't watch it if you're tired or about to go to bed.
- DirectorMamoru OshiiStarsMalgorzata ForemniakWladyslaw KowalskiJerzy GudejkoIn a dystopian world, a woman spends her time playing an illegal and dangerous game, hoping to find meaning in her world.VR Gaming - A virtual reality movie where players plunge into a virtual game world (Avalon) using wires and VR goggles. I can't remember all the details but the movie revolves around Pro level gaming (playing for a living), each level getting progresively harder and so-called allies more deceitful. The colour palette of this movie reminded me of "Delicatessen (1991)."
- DirectorJonathan MostowStarsBruce WillisRadha MitchellVing RhamesSet in a futuristic world where humans live in isolation and interact through surrogate robots, a cop is forced to leave his home for the first time in years in order to investigate the murders of others' surrogates.Hacking comes in a lot of guises but it's main objective stays the same: 'To use what you know or have to disable, change or take over a system.' Wow what a mouthful, can't believe i just came up with that definition.
Surrogates has an interesting take on the Virtual Reality concept, in that you control a robot (a surrogate) to do your job in the real world (watch "Gamer (2009)" for yet another different take on VR). The hacking part comes from a secret military weapon which not only kills the mechanical surrogate but its user too! The weapon obviously falls in the hands of someone who is against the surrogate society and you will have to watch the movie to know what happens in the end. - DirectorTony ScottStarsDenzel WashingtonPaula PattonJim CaviezelAfter a ferry is bombed in New Orleans, an A.T.F. agent joins a unique investigation using experimental surveillance technology to find the bomber, but soon finds himself becoming obsessed with one of the victims.Spoiler alert: I would never have guessed that this movie would quickly revolve around some serious time viewing and time travel technology. In a few words, it's a great cop/detective/forensic drama wrapped in sophisticated technology. A must-see, at least once because after that you will get it and will not want to watch it again, much like the movie "Next (2007)."
- DirectorDuncan JonesStarsJake GyllenhaalMichelle MonaghanVera FarmigaA soldier wakes up in someone else's body and discovers he's part of an experimental government program to find the bomber of a commuter train within 8 minutes.Anyone who's done any programming at university will probably call this title misleading (w.r.t actual source codes). I was really annoyed actually. This movie has nothing to do with computer codes. Instead it is about time travel which is quite fitting for Jake Gyllenhaal who's played in such movies as Donnie Darko (time travel) and "Prince of Persia (2010)" (time travelling dagger) and now this. Methinks he should get a BSc (Hons) in Time Travel.
- DirectorJohn BrunoStarsJamie Lee CurtisDonald SutherlandWilliam BaldwinAfter outrunning a typhoon at sea, a strong-willed tugboat navigator and her crew discover a high-tech alien life form that's taken control of a Russian research vessel and aims to destroy on a massive scale.I can't believe I forgot to add this old movie to my list! A virus (comet of electricity) from deep space hacks MIR space station (now ISS) and lands into US research ship in the Pacific. That's where it hacks into the ships electronics and takes over. From then onwards, the movie jumps into Chain Saw Massacre mode because self-aware computers and humans don't mix. There may or may not be a cyborg in it.
- DirectorJohn WooStarsBen AffleckAaron EckhartUma ThurmanWhat seemed like a breezy idea that would net an engineer millions of dollars ends up leaving him on the run for his life and trying to piece together why he's being chased.Mildly related to hacking... Ben Affleck plays the role of a hardware hacker or reverse engineer. He gets into some serious trouble after completing one of his longest and highest paid assignment. The movie revolves around puzzle solving and I ain't revealing any more because it's the kind of movie you watch once, get it and move on.
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsDaniel CraigRooney MaraChristopher PlummerJournalist Mikael Blomkvist is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing for 40 years by young computer hacker Lisbeth Salander.Even though the 2009 original version is by far the best, visuals can be very important to set you in the mood for a good hacker movie. This movie is not truly about hacking, more historical crime solving which these days require a Mac and Google search. The main actress plays the role of a butch goth orphan rogue expert hacker. Some rough PG scenes in that movie, be warned. As for the hackings, you the viewer interprete what she's doing as hacking and the movie director gets away with skipping over what kind of hacking she's doing. I'm sure this kind of stuff will keep freshers/freshmen entertained.
- DirectorCullen HobackStarsMax SchremsMobyMark ZuckerbergA documentary that exposes what corporations and governments learn about people through Internet and cell phone usage, and what can be done about it ... if anything. This is a must-see documentary on the state of surveillance that we live in, both from the government (NSA, GCHQ, ...) and private companies (Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Yahoo, Microsoft, ...). The government will say that it is to monitor terrorists but very often it's regular citizens like you and me who fall prey to their dumb red-flag systems. This documentary also looks into ever changing T&C agreements that we click through like zombies and what they mean to companies who implement them. This documentary isn't very technical. I hope they do a sequel because in my view, there's a lot more to say on this topic and they need to go in way more technical details. They did discuss CarrierIQ and (sort of) deep-cookies but not PRISM or leaks from Wikileaks.
- DirectorNicholaus GoossenStarsAllen CovertLinda CardelliniShirley JonesA thirty-five-year-old video game tester has to move in with his grandma and her two old lady roommates.I didn't initially add this movie to my list because it's to do with game testers but on second thought, games are technology too so it should be in the list. In this movie, a pot-head game tester (the bald guy from Little Nicky. Yes, am not kidding, it's him!) has his idea stolen by a freakishly nerdy superstar game programmer.
This movie is a mix of game testing and generous helpings of pot-head humour. It's very light-hearted. Think of it as watching "American Pie" style movies. - DirectorJ.T.S. MooreStarsLinus TorvaldsRichard StallmanEric RaymondWhile Microsoft may be the biggest software company in the world, not every computer user is a fan of their products, or their way of doing business. While Microsoft's Windows became the most widely used operating system for personal computers in the world, many experts took issue with Microsoft's strict policies regarding licensing, ownership, distribution, and alteration of their software. The objections of many high-profile technology experts, most notably Richard Stallman, led to what has become known as "the Open Source Movement," which is centered on the belief that computer software should be free both in the economic and intellectual senses of the word. Eventually, one of Stallman's admirers, Linus Torvalds, created a new operating system called Linux, a freely distributed software which many programmers consider to be markedly superior to Windows. Revolution OS is a documentary that examines the genesis of the Open Source Movement, and explores and explains the technical and intellectual issues involved in a manner understandable to computer aficionados and non-techheads alike. Please don't equate open-source community to hippy vegans but in the computing industry. They are very real and important part of our IT ecosystem.
Open-source was meant for users who want to know exactly what sort of code is running on their machine, as opposed to opaque software from Microsoft and Apple (which have countless zero-day security flaws and are regularly exploited by hackers, NSA, GCHQ and the Chinese/Russian counterparts).
This documentary traces the evolution of the Linux OS (how Linus Torvalds who solved the kernel problem) and the GNU manifesto/movement (Richard Stallman). So two sides of this movement (pre Internet bubble - Y2K era). - StarsRobert X. CringelySteve JobsDouglas AdamsThree part documentary series that tells the story of the birth of the personal computer, with the candid recollections of PC pioneers, like Steve Wozniak, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates.A great piece of investigation of the early OS industry, brilliantly researched and put together by none other than Robert Cringely!
This pre-dates the movie "Pirates of Silicon Valley (1999)," so you might want to see Cringely's documentary first. This documentary will no doubt be watched for decades to come by nerds all over the world!
Just wished Cringely did an unpdated, post-Y2K, 1080p version of this. Netflix are you reading this? - DirectorMartyn BurkeStarsAnthony Michael HallNoah WyleJoey SlotnickHistory of Apple and Microsoft.A comedy documentary movie about world's most popular Operating Systems - Windows & Apple. Spoiler-alert: How Apple stole the user-interface and mouse from Xerox, Microsoft stole these from Apple and then took over the world. It's kind of yucky how Microsoft has a history of latching itself on a host and then sucks the life out of it. Poor, poor Nokia! Why did you sign a deal with MS or Ctrl-Alt-Del as I like to call them!
- DirectorLaura Craig GrayTristan QuinnStarsEvan DavisSteve JobsDaniel KottkeThe Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and other experts give their views on the rise, fall and come back of Apple with Steve Jobs at the helm.BBC documentary released right after Steve Jobs died. It retraces his life before and during Apple - the highs and lows. The end is quite touching (it's the Stanford speech). Am not a fan of Apple (their cut for App/Content sold on iTunes is a whopping 30%), but for those who are fans this is a documentary for you!
- DirectorF. Gary GrayStarsDonald SutherlandMark WahlbergEdward NortonAfter being betrayed and left for dead in Italy, Charlie Croker and his team plan an elaborate gold heist against their former ally.Seth Green is "The Napster" and the hacker of this group of thieves. If you are into carefully calculated heists involving cars and hacking traffic lights and other systems, then you will like this movie. It's nothing compared to the original British version of The Italian Job (with Michael Caine who's now Batman's butler). I only watched it because gorgeous Charlize Theron played in it! She's so good. Watch "Monster (2003)" if you don't believe how talented and versatile she is.
- DirectorBrett LeonardStarsJeff FaheyPierce BrosnanJenny WrightA simple man is turned into a genius through the application of computer science.Am only adding this because it deals with virtual reality, but it is a pathetic movie. I remember watching it as a kid and thinking "why are the graphics so lame?" In my opinion, adding CGI to a movie should be a BIG decision. The director should weigh this decision against "how convincing the CGI will look now and 10 years from now." Look at the liquid-metal morphing scenes from "Terminator 2 (1991)." It's 2012 and they still look fresh & real. This is what am talkin' about!
- DirectorBarry LevinsonStarsMichael DouglasDemi MooreDonald SutherlandA computer specialist is sued for sexual harassment by a former lover turned boss who initiated the act forcefully, which threatens both his career and his personal life.I did say I would list technology-based movies here even though this one has more to do with sexual harassment lawsuit. It all happens within a company which plans to manufacture CD-ROM drives in Malaysia and a critical merger is coming up. CD-ROMs were about double-speed back then, I know this because I bought my first Creative CD drive along with a copy of Encarta when that movie was released!
The movie digs into the world of deceit and lies, friends you can no longer trust. The bits of virtual reality (head gear and glove) add a nice memorable touch to the whole film. - DirectorAndrew DavisStarsKeanu ReevesMorgan FreemanRachel WeiszTwo researchers in a green alternative energy project are put on the run when they are framed for murder and treason. This movie is not about computers or hacking but a technology to produce unlimited clean renewable energy. It still fits in my list since I never defined technology to start with. The plot: "The polluting Oil-Coal-Gas corporations don't like the idea of clean unlimited renewable energy one bit!" And that's about as much as I'm willing to give away on this old action thirller! Neo's in it.
- DirectorJon AmielStarsAaron EckhartHilary SwankDelroy LindoThe only way to save Earth from catastrophe is to drill down to the core and set it spinning again.Who'd have guessed that this movie would quickly transition into a "journey to the centre of the earth" type of movie? But not in the traditional Vernian way.
It's a technology-based movie but from time to time, they require the services of world's best hacker (aka "the rat") to control the flow of information on the web. He does a bit more than that towards the end of the movie. I generally hate movies that use "hacking" purely as a trending add-on (to make it more hip). But having said that, it's good for killing time. - DirectorMarc AbrahamStarsGreg KinnearLauren GrahamAlan AldaRobert Kearns takes on the Detroit automakers who he claims stole his idea for the intermittent windshield wiper. This is a slow movie and falls in the Mechanical engineering category. The real inventor of the windscreen wiper fights Detroit automakers (e.g. Ford) who stole his wiper idea after he demonstrated it to them. Abandoned by his colaborators and wife, it's a real uphill struggle for this family man.
It's not a high octane movie, very slow but it's definitely a technology-based movies and an engineer not giving up trying to clear his name in the courts. - DirectorDaniel GellerDayna GoldfineStarsBill BowesHerbert BoyerPo BronsonThe story of how a few individuals built an industry that would go on to finance nearly all of the major advancements in technology in the past 50 years with companies such as Atari, Genentech, Apple, Intel and more. How venture capitalists and their millions in angel investments catalysed the Silicon Valley revolution (founding companies & research funding). Sadly this 2011 documentary is about the old days of VC (1970's). Still a great doc to watch if you want to cool off after 'The Social Network.' Amongst the companies discussed are: Intel, Tandem Computers, Atari, Genentech, PowerPoint and Cisco.
- DirectorRalph LeeStarsJohn DraperKevin MitnickDenny TeresiA history of hacking focusing on Captain Crunch, Steve Wozniak and Kevin Mitnick. This is kinda old and maybe expired, but if you have nothing better to watch, it's basically a series of interviews of famous hackers: Captain Crunch, Kevin Mitnick and even the Woz (Steve Wozniack). Best to watch the movie I called Hackers 2 (Takedown).
- DirectorKevin AndersonStarsBen AndersonSuzanne BarrKathy BowlenIn the late 1980s two Melbourne teenage computer hackers known as Electron and Phoenix stole a restricted computer security list called 'Zardoz' and used it to break into some of the world's most classified and supposedly secure computer systems. So fast and widespread was the attack no-one could work out how it had happened, until one of the hackers called the New York Times to brag about it. Ten years after their arrest, this dramatized documentary reveals not only how they did it but why, taking us headlong into the clandestine, risky but intoxicating world of the computer underground.Wanna know about hackers in the down under? This is hacking the Australian way. Again, it's a very old documentary but still watchable. If you feel nostalgic about dial-up modems, then watch this.
- DirectorJeremy ZerechakStarsJulia ConcolinoLorrie CranorJennifer GranickCODE 2600 documents the Info-Tech Age, told by the events and people who helped build and manipulate it. It explores the impact this new connectivity has on our ability to remain human while maintaining our personal privacy and security.Documentary - Just seen the trailer on Youtube. I hope it will be current and teach me something new. It's on my to-watch list.
- DirectorBill CondonStarsBenedict CumberbatchDaniel BrühlCarice van HoutenA dramatic thriller based on real events that reveals the quest to expose the deceptions and corruptions of power that turned an Internet upstart into the 21st century's most fiercely debated organization. Not seen it yet and was recommended to watch "Underground: The Julian Assange Story" instead.
- DirectorSpike JonzeStarsJoaquin PhoenixAmy AdamsScarlett JohanssonIn a near future, a lonely writer develops an unlikely relationship with an operating system designed to meet his every need.Saying that this movie revolves around O.S is not really accurate. It's another spin on A.I and what happens when humans interact with them. In this case, the A.I quickly evolves into a "connection hungry slut" and *beep* off with a bunch of other AI operating systems, leaving users with a blank computer and a broken heart... pretty much like real life then? The wife divorces the man for half his wealth and monthly payments while she bangs another man. I guess it's worth ONE watch. I personally thought it was a bit silly and got angry towards the end, as in how do you process a refund when your AI OS runs away after the 'limited' warranty has expired?
In that same A.I category, I'd recommend 'Bicentennial Man' and 'Robot & Frank.' Movies about A.I in pure software form is just weird (maybe not to Wolfram-Alpha people). - StarsKeir GilchristErin KarplukRyan RobbinsA reporter and a young hacker uncover an artificial intelligence which has become sentient. It has one goal. Self preservation. Humans are trying to destroy it. So it's 'it' or them.A bit of a long movie (2h45m), not a great cast but a good watch in the end. A similar movie in that category would be "Eagle Eye" but this time the protagonists get closer to the A.I, trying to fight it with another A.I. which I thought was very original. Meanwhile the US military's methods fail to take it down (predictable). I was surprised the writers didn't think of letting the A.I take control of drones, maybe it wasn't in the budget? Since the movie follows a pretty simple plot, I can't say much for fear of spoiling it for ya.
- DirectorTerry GilliamStarsChristoph WaltzLucas HedgesMélanie ThierryA hugely talented but socially isolated computer operator is tasked by Management to prove the Zero Theorem: that the universe ends as nothing, rendering life meaningless. But meaning is what he already craves.Ok if I add this "strange" deranged comedy, I feel I will also have to add "A Beautiful Mind." Both deal with Mathematics. If I can rationalise having it on here, then fine it will stay. Give me time to mull over this because I am 50% sure this movie does not belong on this list.
- DirectorWilliam EubankStarsBrenton ThwaitesOlivia CookeBeau KnappOn a road trip, Nic and two friends are drawn to an isolated area by a computer genius. When everything suddenly goes dark, Nic regains consciousness - only to find himself in a waking nightmare.Saw a little bit of hacking in the first 5 minutes. Felt a bit wet in the downstairs area. This is what you want to see in any hacking/techy movies. So I'm adding this movie here but be warned, after the intro it's a different ball game - area 51 type of story and more... much more. ;)
- CreatorNick SantoraStarsElyes GabelKatharine McPheeEddie Kaye ThomasAn eccentric genius forms a team of super-geniuses who are tasked with being the last line of defense against complicated threats to National Security.I think if you're really young then there's a chance you'll enjoy this (like I did watching A-team and MacGyver back in the days when the television looked like a giant microwave). In my case, I tend to ask too many questions and quickly the flaws of the story or techniques are revealed. So I lose interest in the movie. For instance, I developed massive distaste for tv-series Heroes halfway through season 1. When they recently released Heroes Reborn, I wanted to throw up after just 10min of episode 1. However don't let my feelings ruin your appetite for such TV-series.
In my honest opinion, the team in Scorpion are trying to act like hackers and failing miserably (I have same feelings with CSI Cyber). Besides this criticism, it's light-hearted and good for killing time, just like "Lone Gunmen" or "Chuck." - DirectorDavid HewlettStarsTenika DavisJason MomoaAdrian HolmesSix young computer hackers, sent to work on a derelict spaceship, are forced to match wits with a vengeful artificial intelligence that would kill to be human.Have not seen it yet...
- DirectorLuc BessonStarsScarlett JohanssonMorgan FreemanChoi Min-sikA woman, accidentally caught in a dark deal, turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic. The dumbest movie of 2014 and it was made by a French producer, Luc Besson. This guy should seriously take his retirement instead of wasting other people's money on producing utter garbage for the eye. This movie is like a ball of garbage which grows bigger as it rolls downhill. I am sure, lots of people enjoyed it because of Scarlett and that main character is a woman. Well sorry but I need a lot more to not rate this 1/10.
- DirectorMichael MannStarsChris HemsworthViola DavisTang WeiA furloughed convict and his American and Chinese partners hunt a high-level cybercrime network from Chicago to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Jakarta.I keep falling asleep at the Chinese restaurant scene. Compounded with extremely poor lead actors (especially the female one whom I suspect is just an eye-candy element) and a story that's unable to retain my attention, i find myself unable to write a good summary here. I think I may have actually stopped caring what this movie was all about. :)

ZuikerStarsPatricia ArquetteJames Van Der BeekShad MossSpecial agent Avery Ryan works to solve internet related crimes as a cyberpsychologist for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.Maybe younger me would have been dazzled by this tv-series but am old and more difficult to please. Besides the lead female investigator having a displeasing face and a large upper-body, the rest is just visual & sound effects. Maybe it should have come with an epilepsy warning? Usually when they go big on effects, you know a crucial part will take a hit - Plot development and choice of credible actors.
This new CSI series investigates a cyber crime one at a time and finds the culprit before end of the 42min episode. If you felt insulted by this series then please watch "Untraceable" or "Eagle Eye" to wash your eyes and ears. - DirectorRobert ConnollyStarsRachel GriffithsAnthony LaPagliaAlex WilliamsA look at the early career of Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange. Many thanks to Russell Herrera for suggesting this movie. - DirectorRidley ScottStarsMatt DamonJessica ChastainKristen WiigAn astronaut becomes stranded on Mars after his team assume him dead, and must rely on his ingenuity to find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive and can survive until a potential rescue.Adding this here is problematic as this opens a can of worms on what is so "hacking" about this movie? And if "problem solving" is really what this movie is about, then should I add all other space movies because they all went to space, faced a problem and solved it to come back home alive. However it is possible for a movie to belong in multiple lists. In my opinion, The Martian is really about problem solving but with a lot of focus on hardware and biological 'hacking' (e.g. creating the conditions to grow potatoes and scenes leading to hexadecimal and proper communication with NASA.).
Towards the end of the movie, I started reflecting on whether I was being true to my university education. Am i going in the right direction with my life? At about 20 minutes, I questioned the meaning of life and what Amazon investors would say to Jeff Bezos wasting money on this utter crap. Next time I update this list, I will remove this title (unless I strap myself to a chair and watch this for real). Sorry for this lame snippet.

- DirectorCharles BarkerStarsMax DeaconMorfydd ClarkAli CookA group of online gamers are invited to try a state-of-the-art virtual reality video game but things take a sinister turn when these masters of the shoot-'em-up discover that they will actually be fighting for their lives.I think this marries well with current tech companies (such as Oculus) wanting to make VR a reality (again)! The intro made me think of the movie "Exam (2009)" i.e. where random people are invited to locals of a secretive company and they have to participate in completion of a task.
In this movie a group of top MMO players are invited to a building which will be the settings for a VR game with a cash prize of $100K for the top scorer. Their goal is to take back control of a terrorist-owned building (which has a big surprise in the basement - end of level). I won't reveal much about the VR gear and its capabilities but this could actually work in real life.
I think it's pretty good VR movie. Acting is ok and graphics is decent. I don't play CoD but I imagine this movie could have explored more aspects of multi-player shooting games (compare with Gamer (2009)) and merge that with their VR concept. Someone with deep pockets should definitely watch this movie and do something better and with more suspense. - DirectorAlex GibneyStarsDavid SangerEmad KiyaeiEric ChienA documentary focused on Stuxnet, a piece of self-replicating computer malware that the U.S. and Israel unleashed to destroy a key part of an Iranian nuclear facility, and which ultimately spread beyond its intended target.Stuxnet virus creation & evolution. A covert NSA operation which Israel messed up due to their impatience i.e. Operation "Olympic Game" (known to us as Stuxnet) would have gone un-noticed if it wasn't for greed and amateurism of Mossad.
Noteworthy moments are interviews collected from a Symantec researcher (Eric Chien), Kaspersky researcher (Eugene Kaspersky) and an arrogant NSA cyberwarfare coder. Documentary covers operational, political and defence aspects. Frankly I'm just interested in the virus anatomy and zero day flaws it targeted, so a lot of this documentary was pure garbage to me. - DirectorNicholas GyeneyStarsManu BennettLarenz TateLinden AshbyChampion gamer Max Troy discovers events in a new video game are being mirrored in the real world, and must join forces with the game's protagonist, Orson Creed, to unravel the conspiracy before the game's sinister plot overwhelms the city.Haven't seen it yet...

Hesitated to watch it because I spotted the VICE logo. For those who don't know, they started ruining their reputation by allying with SJW & feminist conartists. However from a documentary standpoint, I have to list it here. The content is good.
