Movies I Have Seen
This is every movie I have seen. It is initially intended to be in order of release date, but Amazon bought IMDb and removed the drag-and-drop feature for lists, so that it is impossible to reorder a list this large. It's frankly embarrassing that they still have not updated their FAQ page, and if there were anyone to complain to about it, I would. This is mostly for personal use anyway. If you find your way here, it's likely because I sent you here. Please see notes for recommendations.

- DirectorTi WestStarsMia GothJenna OrtegaBrittany SnowIn 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the crew find themselves fighting for their lives. This movie needs more love. I had a fantastic experience with this one.

- DirectorPaul Thomas AndersonStarsAlana HaimCooper HoffmanSean PennThe story of Alana Kane and Gary Valentine growing up, running around and going through the treacherous navigation of first love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973.Guess it skeeves some people out that the guy is so much younger than the woman. - DirectorStephen ChboskyStarsBen PlattJulianne MooreKaitlyn DeverFilm adaptation of the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical about Evan Hansen, a high-school senior with social anxiety disorder, and his journey of self-discovery and acceptance after a classmate's suicide.I know this is controversial, but I enjoyed this movie. Is the music bad? Yes, it really is. But I hadn't been familiar with the story before, and I liked this story enough to not care that Ben Platt looks decrepit and everyone sings like they're afraid to be heard singing.
- DirectorDenis VilleneuveStarsTimothée ChalametRebecca FergusonZendayaA noble family becomes embroiled in a war for control over the galaxy's most valuable asset while its heir becomes troubled by visions of a dark future.Needed more psychedelic vibes. Needed less edgy emo zoomers. This movie is too clean and too boring. Not sure why everyone is sucking Denis Villeneuve's dick. Production value =/= good movie. Unimaginative. It's only the first half of a 2-part epic film and I left feeling absolutely no anticipation for the story to continue.
- DirectorNia DaCostaStarsYahya Abdul-Mateen IITeyonah ParrisNathan Stewart-JarrettA sequel to the horror film Candyman (1992) that returns to the now-gentrified Chicago neighborhood where the legend began.A lot better than I expected. I would recommend it.
- DirectorValdimar JóhannssonStarsNoomi RapaceHilmir Snær GuðnasonBjörn Hlynur HaraldssonA childless couple discovers a mysterious newborn on their farm in Iceland.I can't tell if this movie is taking itself too seriously or if it's a language barrier and it actually has a good sense of humor that I just don't understand. But if it's meant in earnest, this is one of the goofiest things I've ever witnessed. And I mean that as a compliment.

- DirectorTaika WaititiStarsRoman Griffin DavisThomasin McKenzieScarlett JohanssonA young German boy in the Hitler Youth whose hero and imaginary friend is the country's dictator is shocked to discover that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their home.A feather in Taika Watiti's cap. Gotta love that he cast himself as Hitler. I mean, if you're making a film where Hitler is a goofy imaginary friend to a young Hitler Youth kid, I imagine that's a hard casting decision to make. This was gut-wrenching and beautiful at times and outrageously funny at others, and it deserves all the praise and love it gets.
- DirectorRian JohnsonStarsDaniel CraigChris EvansAna de ArmasA detective investigates the death of the patriarch of an eccentric, combative family.Rian Johnson redeemed himself.
- DirectorTodd PhillipsStarsJoaquin PhoenixRobert De NiroZazie BeetzDuring the 1980s, a failed stand-up comedian is driven insane and turns to a life of crime and chaos in Gotham City while becoming an infamous psychopathic crime figure. This got people talking, didn't it? This movie is a joke. Dramatically overrated.

- DirectorM.A. TaylorStarsRobert EpsteinJordan B. PetersonPeter SchweizerThe Creepy Line reveals the stunning degree to which society is manipulated by Google and Facebook and how they do it.Sit it out. This is one of those bad movies, where if you don't understand why its bad, it could actually trick you into thinking it is a reputable source of information regarding the topic at hand, when it plainly isn't. They do not properly introduce anyone that they use for talking-head interviews, and that is because they know full-well that the people they are interviewing are not authorities on the subjects with which they are speaking authoritatively about. This is not just a bad movie, it's irresponsible journalism. Is Google bad? Yes, but so is this film.
- DirectorDrew GoddardStarsJeff BridgesCynthia ErivoDakota Johnson1969. Four strangers check in at the El Royale Hotel. The hotel is deserted, staffed by a single desk clerk. - DirectorDavid Gordon GreenStarsJamie Lee CurtisJudy GreerAndi MatichakLaurie Strode confronts her long-time foe, Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.I think I'm tapped out, you guys. I mean there wasn't anything wrong with it, it is exactly what I expected. But it feels so stale. Just go rewatch Halloween (1978) snuggled up on your couch with stove-top popcorn - it will be a better experience, I promise.
- DirectorMary HarronStarsHannah MurrayMatt SmithSosie BaconThe tragic tale of an all-American girl who was transformed into a cold-blooded killer in the summer of 1969.A surprisingly fresh perspective, as it focuses on the Manson girls rather than on Manson or the case. I enjoyed it. Loved the incorporation of Manson's original music.
I still don't feel anyone's ever casted Manson well. Though, to his credit, Matt Smith wasn't as distracting as I anticipated he would be. I love director Mary Harron - I Shot Andy Warhol (1996) and American Psycho (2000) are two of my favorite films. This definitely is no where near as good as either of those, but it's still a good film. - DirectorMorgan NevilleStarsAlan CummingPeter BogdanovichOja KodarIn the final fifteen years of the life of legendary director Orson Welles, he pins his Hollywood comeback hopes on a film, The Other Side of the Wind (2018), in itself a film about an aging film director trying to finish his last great movie. We do.

- DirectorJeff TomsicStarsJeremy RennerEd HelmsJake JohnsonA small group of former classmates organize an elaborate, annual game of tag that requires some to travel all over the country.Don't know why I bothered.
- DirectorSally RubinAshley YorkStarsMichael AptedRonny CoxSam Gleaves"hillbilly" is a documentary film that examines the iconic hillbilly image in media and culture. The film explores more than a hundred years of media representation of mountain and rural people and offers an urgent exploration of how we see and think about rural America.Could've been about Appalachian culture but instead they got distracted and dated themselves by talking about the election. This film will age like milk, I'm sure.

- DirectorRamin BahraniStarsMichael B. JordanAaron DavisCindy KatzIn a terrifying care-free future, a young man, Guy Montag, whose job as a fireman is to burn all books, questions his actions after meeting a young woman - and begins to rebel against society. It had already been adapted in a far more inspired fashion. - DirectorRon HowardStarsAlden EhrenreichWoody HarrelsonEmilia ClarkeDuring an adventure in the criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future co-pilot Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebel Alliance.Felt like I was being punked when they "revealed" why he's called "Solo".
