In 1999, Tom Hanks starred in The Green Mile based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. The narrative followed the journey of a death row prison guard during the Great Depression who witnesses supernatural events after the entry of a convict played by Michael Clarke Duncan.
Sam Rockwell in The Green Mile
The film also benefited from a disturbingly brilliant performance from Sam Rockwell who played the role of William ‘Wild Bill’ Wharton, one of the most difficult and uncontrollable prisoners in the facility. The Oscar winner’s unhinged portrayal of a challenging character was interestingly inspired from the iconic performance of Michael Keaton in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice.
Sam Rockwell Took Inspiration From Michael Keaton For This Memorable Role
Apart from excellent performances by Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan in The Green Mile, Sam Rockwell who played William ‘Wild Bill’ Wharton in the film, was a standout among the ensemble.

From Adam West in the ’60s to Robert Pattinson in 2022, a plethora of iterations of Batman have been presented onscreen since the character’s inception. But while most of them are great in their own right, nobody quite embodied the spirit of the caped crusader like the late Kevin Conroy, who is still considered by many to be the definitive version of Batman.
However, Conroy wasn’t the initial choice to voice the character, and even when he was considered for the part, the actor was interested in voicing other characters, which ended up frustrating Andrea Romano.

Acclaimed writer John Logan will adapt Pulitzer Prize-winning author Cormac McCarthy’s “Blood Meridian” novel into a feature film for director John Hillcoat.
Hillcoat is also producing along with Keith Redmon for New Regency. Cormac McCarthy’s son, John Francis McCarthy, will serve as executive producer, while Cormac, who died in June 2023, will receive a posthumous executive producer credit.
“It’s incredibly exciting to have John Logan on board,” John Francis said. “Very reassuring in the seemingly long list of good news concerning what was originally such an intimidating undertaking.”
The project was originally set up with director James Franco and star Russell Crowe in 2016, but fell apart over rights to the book.
Based on historical conflicts along the Texas-Mexico border in the 1850s, “Blood Meridian” follows the journey of the Kid, a fourteen-year-old from Tennessee, as he navigates the brutal and harrowing landscape of this new era.

The synopsis for the Western, known for its descriptive violence, reads: “Based on historical conflicts along the Texas-Mexico border in the 1850s, the story follows the journey of the Kid, a 14-year-old from Tennessee, as he navigates the brutal and harrowing landscape of this new era.”

Though it’s been more than 35 years since Beetlejuice was released in cinemas, the time hasn’t managed to put the story to its end.
A sequel for Tim Burton’s comedy horror is making its way back to the screens this year, accompanied by already familiar faces from the original movie as well as by new characters portrayed by Hollywood’s biggest stars at the moment.
Despite the famous story’s life going on, the time still didn’t manage to save some other iconic characters — and, according to Beetlejuice’s actress, it’s the main reason why they didn’t get to appear in the upcoming sequel.
The news that keeps coming in regarding Beetlejuice 2’s casting and plot details clearly suggest that the sequel won’t feature the characters whose appearance actually marked the very beginning of the story.

You just can't keep those damn dirty apes down. 10 years after Tim Burton's 2001 "Planet of the Apes" re-imagining failed to reignite audiences' passion for stories about intellectually-enhanced simians, the long-running sci-fi franchise made an unexpectedly strong comeback with "Rise of the Planet of the Apes." Director Rupert Wyatt's entry in the series is now generally considered the weakest of the modern "Apes" trilogy, which is more of a testament to what Matt Reeves was able to accomplish with his subsequent sequels than necessarily a knock against Wyatt's film. "Rise" itself makes for an effective cautionary tale about humanity's hubris, our lack of compassion toward other living beings, and our habit of being our own worst enemy, as seen through the eyes of its co-protagonist, Caesar (Andy Serkis in his touchstone motion-capture role).
Yes, it's easy to forget that Caesar wasn't originally the singular lead of his own story.

Wednesday is completely different from its predecessors, because instead of the traditional story about an eccentric old-money family living in an antebellum mansion and hiding a lot of paranormal secrets, we got a school drama starring goth Jenna Ortega.
But none of this changes the fact that Wednesday turned out to be a great black comedy with enough satire, drama and, of course, the supernatural. After all, the co-executive producer is none other than Tim Burton.
As a result, the show has received rave reviews, high ratings and wins in four Primetime Emmy Award categories. So it's no surprise that Netflix decided to renew it for a second season, which we learned about in January 2023.
A year later, the series is approaching the active production phase, and with that, more and more details are emerging. For example, we recently received word that the new addition to Season 2 will be the legendary Steve Buscemi.

Do you remember the very first moment when you realized a movie could be far more than just a brief, amiable diversion from the temporal slog of life as an extant human? That first moment you realized film could be art capable of providing a fully nourishing spiritual experience? When it comes to the classics of cinema—and sometimes the dregs—it’s always fun to think about what might’ve been. Casting especially can be a strange alchemy between actor and role, and when the formula is off, it’s easy to ponder whether the spell would work at all. Can you imagine Robert Redford as Michael Corleone? What about Tom Selleck as Indiana Jones? And it’s an interesting challenge to envision what Tim Burton’s Batman might’ve been if it starred Bill Murray versus Robin Williams.

Frank Darabont's 1999 Oscar darling "The Green Mile," based on an inexplicably serialized novel by Stephen King, is set in 1935 Louisiana in the fictional Cold Mountain Penitentiary, specifically the prison's death row. The correctional officers are overseen by Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) who struggles to retain his soul working such a dire job. The floor that leads to the prison's electric chair is painted green, earning it the titular nickname. Paul attempts to wrangle his officers' cruelty and retain what little hope he can, even after witnessing the state execute prisoner after prisoner. To make matters worse, he's suffering from a bladder infection.
The wildest prisoner on death row is William "Wild Bill" Wharton, played by the always amazing Sam Rockwell. Wharton was clearly mentally ill, and would frequently assault the officers, forcing him into a padded cell. He spat insults and racial epithets, flashing his yellowed teeth and horribly casual hate.

When Johnny Depp Raked In A Huge Numbers Despite Not Having A Single Scene In It ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Johnny Depp is a renowned Hollywood personality who is also among the highest-paid actors. He faced a great ordeal owing to his court case against Amber Heard. Depp lost his deal with Disney and was dropped from the Pirates of the Caribbean. He also exited another popular fantasy film series, but the actor was, in a way, a gainer as the studio had to pay him his full salary for the role, and it was not a small amount.
Depp was at the peak of his career when the domestic abuse controversy happened that cost him his career. Not him, Amber also lost her reputation and work in Hollywood. The fans of both stars did not leave a moment to troll each other and them.

The trope of the house, haunting its inhabitants, is a widespread one in horror flicks since Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice to the hyped Insidious and The Conjuring franchises. However, there is a 2020 Netflix movie in which the use of the haunted house theme reaches perfection, which is reflected in its perfect critical score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Its plot revolves around a couple of immigrants, who run away from Sudan’s civil war and try to start a new life in a new country, turning hostile to them. The UK government assigns them a derelict house, which appears to be inhabited by an evil creature.
The main characters get tormented not only by the poltergeist with its ghostly noises and supernatural things happening in the house, but also with the society, which forces them to be the quiet and the good ones, complicating the aftermath of their tragedy.

Don’t be late! Alice and the Queen of Hearts are putting on a new show at Disneyland Paris!
The French Disney Park will be hosting a new musical on May 25. Alice & The Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland looks like it will be something else. Oh, and it’s definitely something that would only work in Paris.
Consider it a mix of Disney magic and Cirque du Soleil but with an Alice in Wonderland twist. Oh, and there will be BMX bikes, too!
The outfits for Alice, the Queen, and the Mad Hatter take cues from the 1951 animated classic but update them in ways that feel like something you’d see in Return to Oz or even the ’90s Disney Channel show Adventures in Wonderland.
While it may seem a bit extreme and flashy, the costume and set designs are far better than the high strangeness we witnessed in Tim Burton’s two films.

Barry Sonnenfeld's 1991 film adaptation of "The Addams Family" came out right when pop Goth fashion was hitting the mainstream. Goth culture, of course, first evolved in England during the rise of bands like Siouxsie & the Banshees, Bauhaus, and The Cure, and Goth characters started appearing in American horror movies in the mid-1980s. One of the first mainstream Gothic film icons of the time was probably Lydia Deetz, the character played by Winona Ryder in Tim Burton's 1988 film "Beetlejuice." After that, '90s teens began to affect a whimsical adoration of the macabre, and Tim Burton's films exploded in popularity. In fact, his 1989 rendition of "Batman" owes more to Goth culture than to comic books.
"The Addams Family," based on the 1960s sitcom and the comic strips by Charles Addams, was eaten up by a Goth-loving public. Audiences were ready to reject old-world, Reagan-era squareness and...

Rupert Everett landed in Turin, Italy, on Thursday to collect the Star of the Mole, the special award given by the National Cinema Museum to personalities who have left an indelible mark on the world of cinema and society. The award — a pink star — is presented during the Lovers Film Festival, Europe’s oldest gay festival (this is its 39th edition), directed by Vladimir Luxuria, who says that “Rupert Everett was one of the first international stars to come out and fight for civil rights.”
In accepting the honor, Everett joins a list of previous honorees that includes the likes of Oliver Stone, Tim Burton, Malcolm McDowell, Monica Bellucci and many others.
The British actor, who turns 65 on May 29, came out publicly in 1989, five years after he made an indelible impression as a double agent in Marek Kanievska’s drama Another Country. The film was an adaptation of Julien Mitchell...

Updated, 10:27 Am: 20th Century Studios’ Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes landed on Nrg’s three-week tracking Thursday with a $54 million domestic opening outlook, which jibes with what Quorum’s six-week projection was a few weeks ago.
Unaided awareness, which indicates that those being polled about the May 10-debuting movie already are aware it’s coming out, is strong with men over/under 25. However, first choice is a tad stronger among guys under 25.
As we told, you a start at this level for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes would be on par with the 2011 Andy Serkis-James Franco movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which debuted to $54.8M. The rising star on transitioning from man to beast for Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes.
When Owen Teague was four years old, he saw Disney’s Beauty And The Beast and wanted to be in it. Not do a voice in it — actually be in it. “My mum was like, ‘Um, okay, sure, but that’s an animation. There are community theatres you can audition for?’” So he started doing community theatre, mostly musicals. Then, in 2005, Peter Jackson’s King Kong arrived. Seven-year-old Owen was bewitched. When his mum explained that King Kong was played by an actual guy in a performance- capture suit, Teague saw his future.
Almost 20 years later, he is that guy. In Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes, Teague plays the lead, Noa, a young chimpanzee born nearly 300 years after the events of the last film in the franchise. After a successful audition...

For an entire generation, Batman meant Michael Keaton. He brought the Dark Knight to life in not one, but two films that helped make Batman arguably the greatest superhero of all time. Decades later, he defied the law of aging by effortlessly slipping back into the cowl for “The Flash”.

Oh, and in between, he also jumped ships to the MCU as Vulture to make things difficult for our Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man. Depp’s London-based film company In.2 is gearing up to release the Court of Versailles-set tale across the UK from this Friday, April 19.
Gilliam, who directed Depp in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009), jokingly ticked Depp off for his late arrival.
“Sorry, it’s too late — the film has started 10 minutes ago,” quipped Gilliam as Depp arrived at the Curzon Mayfair cinema.
He then referred to Depp as the “new Jackie Chan” as the actor enveloped him in a bear hug, seemingly in reference to the fact the star has been working out.

Timothée Chalamet’s journey in Hollywood has been an inspiring one. From making his name as a young star in independent films to bagging huge mainstream projects like Dune and Wonka, the actor has proved that he has the personality and talent to juggle both worlds with aplomb.
Timothée Chalamet in Dune
With the recently released Dune 2, Chalamet has further showcased his growth as an actor through the evolution of his character, Paul Atreides. But the Oscar nominee’s casting was criticized when he was initially signed on for the role by Denis Villeneuve. The director, though, was steadfast in his reasoning behind the decision and elaborated on why he was insistent on only Chalamet playing the role.
The Dune Ensemble Was Created Around Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides
It is difficult to imagine anyone other than Timothée Chalamet portraying the central character Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune franchise.

American filmmaking was irrevocably changed by Francis Ford Coppola, one of the most important auteurs to emerge from the New Hollywood movement. His creative approach to filmmaking, which he pioneered with iconic films like The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, had a profound impact on movie buffs. Not every flick that he added to his coveted filmography, though, was given the same level of recognition.
Coppola’s 1992 adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, a classic work that had a profound influence on the horror genre, is a prime example of this. Although the set and costume designs in the film have received praise from critics as well as fans, there were many strange behind-the-scenes stories about the production, one of which was Coppola’s mistreatment of Winona Ryder.

Leonardo DiCaprio may keep his distance from the superhero genre today, but he was the studios’ favorite in playing some crucial Cbm characters. At the start of his career, he was offered the role of Robin in Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever. During the Dark Knight trilogy, Warner Bros. wanted Christopher Nolan to make The Riddler as the central villain in the third film. They wanted Nolan to bring DiCaprio on board the film for the same.
WB wanted Inception star Leonardo DiCaprio in a role in The Dark Knight Rises
However, Nolan didn’t concede to the demands of the studio and insisted that he worked with a villain that suited the story. Nolan later worked with DiCaprio in Inception, which remains the actor’s highest-paying gig to date.

Most of the Beetlejuice cast from the 1988 film return for the 2024 sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Geena Davis is not one of them.
“No, I’m not. I’m not in the remake,” Geena, 68, told Entertainment Tonight on Thursday. “Oh, you were expecting that I would be? Yeah, no, you know what? Because my theory is that ghosts don’t age … Not that I have.”
In the original film, Davis appeared as ghost Barbara Maitland, who is seen by Winona Ryder’s character, Lydia Deetz.
“Our characters were stuck the way they looked when they died forever, so it’s been a while, it’s been a minute,” Davis said.
Davis has not seen the trailer for the sequel.
“I heard the trailer came out and somebody said they were crying, so I have to see the trailer,” she said.
