Can television have its own New Hollywood moment?
Much like movies such as Bonnie and Clyde, The Graduate, Rosemary’s Baby and Easy Rider took the late 1960s by storm, a group of writers and directors are hoping that their own independent TV projects can break through and find their way to the small screen amidst the current Hollywood contraction.
After a number of web series such as Issa Rae’s The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl, Broad City and High Maintenance were turned into TV series over the past decade, writers and directors hoped that this would lead to more.
However, the rise of streaming originals saw the business go the other way, with incredibly expensive dramas and comedies, often led by movie stars, taking over. This trend is now waning and a new generation of creators hopes that cost-conscious companies will now pay more attention to their projects instead.

Rumors that Andy Cohen is set to leave Bravo amid serious misconduct allegations are untrue. While Cohen’s job at Bravo appears safe for now, the accusations against him are stacking up. We’ve collected the most recent allegations against the Bravo executive.
What are the allegations against Andy Cohen?
While Bravo insists Andy Cohen is not getting ready to exit the network, fans are still torn over the allegations against him. Things kicked off in February 2024 when Brandi Glanville came forward to accuse Andy Cohen of sexual harassment. According to Variety, Glanville’s lawyers have requested an apology from Cohen. In a letter obtained by the publication, Glanville said Cohen sexually harassed her during a phone call in which he told her he intended to have sex with an unnamed Bravo employee but that he would be thinking of her. Cohen has insisted it was a “joke” and that Glanville was “in” on it.

Kathy Griffin might have appeared on Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, but she has nothing nice to say about her experiences or Larry David, the creator of those shows. “Larry David dumped me,” the comedian told The Enquirer, noting it happened after her controversial 2017 social media post where she posed for a photo holding a replica of former president Donald Trump‘s severed head. “Not in a fun charming way,” she continued. “He’s really not a pleasant person. He plays a version of himself on that show that he thinks he is.” Griffin appeared in the first episode of Curb, “The Pants Tent,” which aired on October 15, 2000. In the episode, Larry uses Griffin as an excuse to explain to Cheryl (Cheryl Hines) his tension with Jeff (Jeff Garlin), though it’s later uncovered as a lie when Griffin meets them all at a restaurant. Despite her brief history with the show,...

Bravo King Andy Cohen has some explaining to do! In February Real Housewives of New York star Leah McSweeney filed a lawsuit against the Watch What Happens Live star and accused him of snorting cocaine with the cast and manipulating the housewives in to getting drunk while the cameras are rolling to make more exciting reality TV.
Andy Cohen’s rep denied the claims, but other celebs are getting involved now, including Kathy Griffin.
Andy Cohen has appeared unbothered since Leah McSweeney’s lawsuit went public. But, there has always been unofficial accusations against the Bravo producers and Real Housewives fans know that there is just as much drama behind the scenes as there is when the cameras are rolling.

Kathy Griffin‘s estranged husband Randy Bick is responding after she filed for divorce.
The 63-year-old comedian filed to separate from the marketing executive on December 28, 2023. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the pair’s divorce.
After Kathy hired a private investigator to find Randy and serve him the divorce papers, he has finally broken his silence.
Keep reading to find out more…
In a statement obtained by Et, Randy‘s attorney Heather Graham said: “Mr. Bick has been represented by counsel since early January and his attorney has been in contact with Ms. Griffin’s attorney about the matter since that time. Therefore, any claims that Ms. Griffin needed to ‘hire a private investigator’ to find Mr. Bick are disingenuous and are not supported by the facts. If Ms. Griffin needed to contact Mr. Bick, she should have simply had her lawyer call Mr. Bick’s lawyer.

Kathy Griffin is trying to find her estranged husband, Randy Bick, so she can serve him divorce papers and officially annul their four-year marriage. According to court documents obtained by Entertainment Weekly, the comedian has hired the services of a private investigator to track down Bick and serve him the legal papers. This comes after Griffin has been unable to find her husband “despite her efforts to do so.” Bick left the former family residence at Griffin’s request and has not been in contact with her or told him where he is residing. However, despite hiring a P.I. to find Bick, a status conference brief filed in in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, March 19, claims that “this too has been unsuccessful.” The document goes on to say that Griffin will make further attempts to locate Bick and “will now take steps to enter his default.” The...

Kathy Griffin is reportedly unable to locate her estranged husband Randy Bick.
The 63-year-old comedian filed for divorce from the marketer back in December 2023 after nearly four years of marriage.
However, according to a new report, his whereabouts are still unknown after leaving their shared home.
Keep reading to find out more…
People reports that Randy has “not been in contact with her” or shared where he’s staying.
The site also reports that Kathy has hired a private investigator to aid in her efforts to locate him, but that has also been unsuccessful, according to court documents.
“[Griffin] will make further attempts to locate [Bick] and will now take steps to enter his default,” the docs state.
Entering a default would mean that the court would decide the case without his input.
Kathy and Randy did have a prenuptial agreement, and in filing for divorce, she asked that the prenup be enforced.

Officials from the Kansas Republican Party have faced widespread criticism and calls for resignations after a fundraising event titled “Grand Ol’ Party,” took place in Overland Park, Kansas, and featured an effigy of President Joe Biden that attendees were encouraged to physically assault.
Video footage from the event shows individuals punch, kick and swing a bat at a Biden mannequin dressed in a “Let’s Go Brandon” shirt. The incident sparked a significant response on social media and ignited a broader conversation about the boundaries of political discourse and the importance of respectful engagement, regardless of ideological differences.
Although the video, originally uploaded to the video platform Rumble, was later deleted, Democratic commentator and attorney Kaivan Shroff uploaded a video of the event to X. Kansas GOP officials swiftly condemned the attacks on the effigy.

Hollywood is mourning Suzanne Somers, star of sitcoms “Three’s Company” and “Step by Step,” who died Sunday after a long battle with breast cancer. The actor would have celebrated her 77th birthday on Monday, Oct. 16.
Somers was known for her roles as bubbly “dumb blonde” Chrissy Snow in “Three’s Company” and single mom Carol Foster Lambert in “Step by Step.” Somers left “Three’s Company” in 1980 when her request that she be paid the same as her male co-star, John Ritter, was denied. After the end of “Step by Step” in 1998, Somers transitioned to a career in health and beauty, becoming the national spokeswoman for exercise device the ThighMaster. Over time, she built a fitness empire from TV infomercials and an expansion into e-commerce. She also made an appearance in 2015 on Season 20 of “Dancing with the Stars.”
Fran Drescher, Kathy Griffin and Barry Manilow are among those who have paid tribute to Somers.

The Writers Guild of America went on strike on May 2, and work on all television and film projects was stopped immediately by guild members. Production was able to continue on some projects that already had completed scripts, but since the nature of late-night talk shows requires timely jokes, they have all been off the air for exactly five months.
But, thanks to last week’s deal between the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), all of the late-night shows will return to the air on Monday, Oct. 2 with brand new episodes. As The Streamable noted last week, because these types of shows are generally day-to-day operations, they are able to get back to airing new episodes almost immediately.

Eastsiders creator Kit Williamson is behind the Sundance Lab-developed drama, which follows eccentric, queer siblings Noah and Margot Guillory and their significant others Daniel Charles and Eliza Slate as they try to start an unconventional family while navigating their thirties.

Kathy Griffin is the latest celebrity to weigh in on the conviction and 30-years-to-life sentencing of “That ’70s Show” star Danny Masterson for raping two women.
Sharing a video first to TikTok and then Instagram, the comedian denounced the actor’s former costars Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis for writing “character letters” on his behalf, and then opened up about her own experience with sexual abuse within her family and why she tends to “absolutely believe the victims.”
“I’m weighing in on the whole Danny Masterson, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis thing because, you know, it’s so difficult to get a conviction in a rape trial, it’s almost impossible,” Griffin said. She prefaced the video with a sticker reading “trigger warning PSA” and a caption reading, “A hell of a lot of people are responding to this video on TikTok. So, I am putting it up here.

Comedian Kathy Griffin slammed Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher‘s support of Danny Masterson after he was convicted of sexual assault. For years, Griffin tried to have her brother, who committed pedophilia and sexual abuse, arrested. So she can’t understand why anyone would stand by the actor’s side.
Masterson, who starred in That ’70s Show alongside Kutcher and Kunis, was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for two rapes. In an emotional TikTok, Griffin said was disgusted to learn that Masterson also drugged his victims, while at the same time fronting for helping those struggling with addiction.
“I don’t really care that when they were working on That ’70s Show, he was like a good guy to work with,” she said, rolling her eyes. “And he worked actively to keep people off drugs because he’s a Scientologist.”

Kathy Griffin just underwent a cosmetic procedure. In a new YouTube video, the 62-year-old comedian documented the process of getting her lips tattooed — and shared the initially frightening results.
In the clip, as Griffin walked into her esthetician’s office she told the camera that she was getting her eyebrows microbladed and her lips tattooed, the second of which is called blushing.
After undergoing the procedures, Griffin returned home to her husband, Randy Bick, who exclaimed, “S**!” upon seeing his wife’s lips. Through laughter Bick apologized for his initial reaction, as Griffin admitted, “It’s a little swollen.”
Next, Griffin showed off the work to her friend, Kristen Johnston, telling her, “I’m f**ked. Look at me.”
“What did you do?” Johnston questioned through laughter. “That’s not real.”
With that, fans finally got their first peek at Griffin’s lips, which were swollen and bright red. That...

Five years after scoring back-to-back Emmy wins for helming the 89th and 90th Oscars, Glenn Weiss could clinch his fifth Best Variety Special Directing trophy for his work on the latest Academy Awards ceremony. Given the knowledge that Jimmy Kimmel hosted said two 2010s Oscars events as well as the one Weiss is currently nominated for, a majority of Gold Derby’s Emmy predictors expect history to simply repeat itself, and they are wise to think so.
Weiss’s most formidable challengers in this contest are producing Emmy winner Jay-Z and seven-time directing nominee Hamish Hamilton, who are recognized for conducting Rihanna’s halftime performance at the most recent Super Bowl. Also in the mix are the directors of the stand-up specials “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage” and “Wanda Sykes: I’m an Entertainer” and the career retrospective “Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love.”

Madonna was putting in serious work preparing for her “Celebration Tour” before being hospitalized earlier this week.
The “Like a Prayer” singer was in the intensive care unit dealing with a serious bacterial infection, which developed Saturday, leading to a several-day stay in the ICU.
A source tells Et that Madonna was “doing well and feeling good in her rehearsals” and staying up as late as 3:30 a.m. some nights to perfect her moves for the coming tour prior to suffering the infection.
“She is a night person and normally sleeps during the day and then gets to work at night,” the source continues. “She was starting around 5:00 p.m. and then could sometimes wrap everything around 3:30 a.m. Her kids David and Mercy were around during some rehearsals.”

Sia has announced that she is on the autism spectrum. This comes two years after the release of her directorial film debut, Music, which received backlash for casting neurotypical actor Maddie Ziegler as a teenage girl on the autism spectrum and containing scenes where she is restrained. The National Autistic Society accused Sia of ableism and stated that she should have cast an autistic actor.
“I’m on the spectrum and I’m in recovery,” the Australian singer said during a recent episode of Rob Has a Podcast, a show that breaks down the reality television series Survivor. She later added, “Nobody can ever know you and love you when you’re filled with secrets and living in shame.”
Sia said that before she became “fully” herself in the past two years, she would always have to “put [her] human suit on.”

Controversial comedian Kathy Griffin is claiming she is suffering “complex Ptsd” in a TikTok video released earlier this week.
“Let’s talk about Ptsd. Never talked about it publicly,” Griffin said in the video. “You can laugh or whatever, but I’ve been diagnosed with complex Ptsd, and it’s called an extreme case.”
Griffin’s problem dates to her run-in with President Donald Trump, in which she sent out an image of her holding a mockup of his severed head. The subsequent wave of outrage basically torched her career. She was fired from her long-running gig cohosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve special, and had theater shows canceled. She was also investigated by the Secret Service and put on a “No-Fly” list.
“If any of you know my story, you’ll understand that this really started for me about 5 ½ years ago. Wink,” she said. Griffin claimed she wouldn...

Joe Lycett has sent former prime minister Liz Truss a personal (tongue-in-cheek) invitation to “speak her mind” on his new talk show.
In a full-page advertisement printed in the MP’s regional newspaper of South West Norfolk, the Eastern Daily Press, the comedian asked for Truss “to join” his forthcoming Channel 4 talk series Late Night Lycett.
Posting the open letter on Twitter, Lycett’s advert begins: “Babe!!! I hope you’re not too surprised to see my popping my head out from between the sheets (of your local regional newspaper tehe)!!.”
Jokingly identifying himself as “rightwing comedian and passionate Lizz Truss supporter Joe Lycett,” the comedian continued: “You’ll remember me from when we met last year on the TV show of our mutual friend Laura Kuenssberg.”
Lycett famously mocked Truss live in the studio during her September 2022 appearance on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg.
