Mike Tyson is considered one of the most legendary boxers in the history of professional boxing. He was almost infallible during his time as a boxer and it’s not hard to see why. While he was part of WWE programming during the late 90s, he became a major name there too.
The boxer is also a very imposing figure and not many people have the guts to actually make fun of him, especially knowing just how deadly Tyson can truly be.

Jake Paul is now set to square off against his biggest opponent yet, as he will be facing off against the legendary Mike Tyson in a boxing match later this year. Unsurprisingly, quite a few top fighters have given their thoughts on the upcoming bout.

Former professional boxer Mike Tyson has entered the cannabis industry in New York, joining the lineup of celebrities selling weed in his home state.
Celebrities have launched product lines and secured endorsement deals over the last decade as the use of cannabis was becoming legalized in many states. New York joined the states allowing legal recreational weed last year.
The former champ, 57, recently released the Tyson 2.0 line, including smokable flower varieties named Tiger Mintz and Knockout Og. He also sold gummies shaped like Evander Holyfield‘s ear, a reference to when he bit Holyfield’s ear during a 1997 bout, one of the six fights he lost.
Tyson is one of the biggest names in the industry so far.
During a recent public appearance in Manhattan, hundreds of fans were spotted trying to buy the cannabis from him. The former boxer made over $40,000 in sales within a few hours at two participating dispensaries.

The Mike Tyson biopic has been bouncing around the ring for years, with Jamie Foxx set to play Iron Mike over a span that has seen the project go from a theatrically released film directed by Martin Scorsese to a limited series helmed by Antoine Fuqua and title changes from Finding Mike to Tyson. And while Foxx’s recent health scare put many on high alert, Tyson himself is hoping that the Oscar winner will still be able to put on the gloves.
Speaking with Valuetainment, Mike Tyson said that there is still a chance that Jamie Foxx will play him in the biopic, but doesn’t know what the recent circumstances could lead to. “It was a possibility. You know, I don’t know what’s gonna happen now, but you know, it’s a strong possibility…Jamie’s closer to my age, so in order to do him,...

Mills Lane, the judge and former boxer who presided over three seasons of the show Judge Mills Lane, has died at the age of 85, according to his son, Tommy Lane. Lane was known as a boxer and boxing referee before his time in court. His diminutive stature, fighting at just 147 pounds, didn’t stop him from gaining respect in the boxing world. His famous phrase “Let’s get it on!” became a catchphrase during his court show — carried over from his time in the ring. After serving in the Marines in the 1950s, he had a successful career as a welterweight boxing champion, holding a professional record of 10 wins, one loss, and six knockouts. He went on to acquire a law degree and eventually became a District Judge in 1990. As a referee, he presided over one of the most infamous boxing matches in the history of the sport — the 1997 heavyweight...

A boxer in his youth who served in the U.S. Marine Corps, Lane worked as a prosecutor in Nevada, later becoming a district attorney and judge while moonlighting as a boxing referee. Mills Lane, the flinty boxer turned referee who became a judge in Washoe County, Nv before segueing to his own courtroom TV show, has died. His son Tommy Lane confirmed the news to the Reno Gazette Journal. The boxing hall of famer was 85.
A familiar face to boxing fans not just for his presence but also for his pre-fight catchphrase “Let’s get it on!”, Lane reached the peak of his popularity after being the third man in the ring for the 1997 heavyweight title fight between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield in which Tyson bit part of Holyfield’s ear off. The diminutive Lane — who himself fought at 147 pounds — was the one who pried the two apart and, his own shirt stained with Holyfield’s blood, later disqualified Tyson.

In a scoop that we promise isn’t a fever dream, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield are releasing one of the weirdest product collaborations to date. The boxing legends and former rivals are referencing a famous incident during a 1997 heavyweight title fight when Tyson bit off a chunk of Holyfield’s ear with this new line of cannabis gummies.
Tyson has already been in the cannabis space with a line of “Mike Bites” gummies that have been selling well, and now they’ll be expanding to these “Holy Ears” products which will be like you may expect, a gummy ear with a bite mark in it. He has recently advocated for the benefits of it, and cracked to HuffPost “If I was on cannabis, I wouldn’t have bit [his] ear!”

It had to begin with the ear. For all Mike Tyson’s myriad achievements, his scandals and crimes, his knockouts and losses, he will always be remembered as the man who bit Evander Holyfield’s ear off. It is with this visceral image that Mike, a new TV drama miniseries on Disney Plus, begins. After a quick glimpse at the money shot, such that it is, Mike rewinds to the early Seventies, when Tyson was a child. From there, we follow him through his life, ducking and weaving between his painful upbringing, his rise to become world heavyweight boxing champion, and his downfall.
Most people will be familiar with the gist of Tyson’s story. The way he dominated in the ring. His prison sentence after being convicted of rape. His facial tattoo. His pet tiger. Mike isn’t that interested in the tabloid eccentricities of Tyson’s life – but...

One warm June afternoon back in 2005, a New Kid, a Bachelorette and a soap actress sashayed onto an L.A. sound stage and the world of ballroom, competitive dance and spray tans was never quite the same. When the concept of Dancing With the Stars was first floated, the premise was met with a healthy dose of skepticism, even a few outright laughs from the host of a well-known L.A. morning radio program. Sure, they'd scrounged up six celebs to commit weeks of their life to learning the cha-cha and the tango and they were names you'd at least heard before, but would anyone really take time out of their...

Plot: Mike is an unauthorized and no-holds-barred look at the life of Mike Tyson – and it is one wild ride. The 8-episode limited series explores the tumultuous ups and downs of Tyson’s boxing career and personal life – from being a beloved global athlete to a pariah and back again. Focusing the lens on Mike Tyson, the series examines class in America, race in America, fame and the power of media, misogyny, the wealth divide, the promise of the American Dream and ultimately our own role in shaping Mike’s story.

Sometimes there’s no better ratings boost for an unauthorized account of a celebrity’s life than that person speaking out against it. Or in the case of HBO’s “Winning Time,” several folks. Thanks to former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson’s documented displeasure with Hulu digging into his very public life, the eight-part limited series “Mike” has landed more eyeballs. The question, however, is will they be satisfied with what they see?
Initially, the answer is no. Unlike Tyson in his heyday, “Mike” takes a minute to heat up. Despite teasing Tyson shockingly biting rival Evander Holyfield’s ear to kick off the series, the first episode “Thief” travels back to Tyson’s rough Brooklyn upbringing as the youngest child being raised by a poor, single mother of three. It’s a bleak existence that’s truly hard to watch, mostly due to Zaiden James’ very effective performance as young Mike.

Even if you don't know Mike Tyson there's a good chance you "know" Mike Tyson. Or rather, you know the bullet points of his strange life and career: his troubled childhood, his brutal boxing career that began at such a young age, his connection to Don King, his love of pigeons, his lisp, his rape conviction, the fight where he bit off a chunk of Evander Holyfield's ear, his face tattoo, his cameo in "The Hangover," and so on. These aren't the sum of an entire life, but trivia questions, and "Mike," the new Hulu series that covers Tyson's rise and fall, sure hopes you're familiar with them, because that's almost all you're going to get.
For most of its episode, "Mike" is a surface-level look at Tyson. Allow me to get a boxing metaphor out of the way nice and early and say this: "Mike" pulls its punches.

When it comes to “authorization,” Hulu’s Mike Tyson limited series Mike was damned if it did, damned if it didn’t, and probably shouldn’t have bothered at all.
Mike Tyson is pissed off that Mike, created by Steven Rogers and showrun by Karin Gist, was created without his “authorization,” loading up on accusations of racism against the Disney-owned streamer. The biggest problem with Mike, naturally enough, is that it’s far too generous to its unauthorized subject and, realistically, it’s hard to imagine anybody making a more sympathetic story about the former heavyweight champion and convicted rapist.
Mike isn’t some total puff piece, but it’s way more invested in trying to understand Mike Tyson and the things he has either admitted to doing or been convicted of doing than in actually depicting those things and letting the audience draw their own conclusions.

Mike Tyson is a figure with unusual voltage, a celebrity who fought for his spot in the firmament with a weaponized charisma. The champion boxer is relentless even by the standards of the sport, with the famous incident in which he bit the ear of Evander Holyfield casting a shadow over his achievements. Outside the ring, he’s simultaneously known for a surprising soft-spokenness that makes the listener want to lean in and for a tendency toward violence — including a 1992 conviction for the rape of Desiree Washington — that repels.
A serious reckoning with Tyson’s place in our culture, in the currently on-trend format of dramatized retelling via limited series, would deal with both sides of the Tyson image, and the complicated ways they feed each other — the fact that the allure of Tyson is bolstered by our sense of him as threatening. This is not the path that Hulu’s new series “Mike” takes.

Twenty-five years after Mike Tyson’s infamous bite of Evander Holyfield’s ear, boxing saw history repeat itself during a super middleweight bout on ESPN on Saturday night.
During the seventh round of a 10-round match at Madison Square Garden, boxer Edgar Berlanga bit into the shoulder and ear of his opponent, Alexis Angulo, while the two were clinched together. The bite was immediately noticed by the ESPN commentators, and Angulo protested to the referee; but Berlanga was not disciplined. Berlanga would go on to win the fight by unanimous decision, keeping him undefeated at 20-0.
After the fight, Berlanga said he bit into Angulo as payback for getting hit with illegal elbows. “He was throwing elbows. I was about to do a Mike Tyson on him,” Berlanga told ESPN. “He kept throwing his elbows, and I didn’t want to get cut.”

When Will Smith made Oscars history and slapped Chris Rock over a joke Rock made at the expense of Jada Pinkett Smith, the currently in-between-gigs Conan O’Brien tweeted, “Anyone have a late-night show I can borrow just for tomorrow?”
Luckily, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel held up his end of the bargain and did what a chat show host needs to do in times of international tumult: he cracked wise about Smith’s assault of Rock and Smith’s subsequent lengthy acceptance speech. “This was the Hollywood equivalent of your drunk uncle starting a fight, ruining the wedding, and then standing up and giving a long toast to the bride and groom,” he pronounced during his monologue on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
Referring to the general post-Oscars vibe as “the aftermath,” he predicted that “we will never stop talking about this” and compared it to the moment when Mike Tyson bit Evander Holyfield’s ear.

It seems a bit strange that they'd decide to make an entire series about nepotism, but these three kids literally are "living in the shadow of greatness" no matter how you frame it. The six-part series from 11-time Emmy Award winning filmmaker Jonathan Hock follows the athletic pursuits of the children of sports icons Dwyane Wade, Evander Holyfield, and Randall Cunningham as they attempt to make their own mark on the world. It focuses on Zaire Wade, Evan Holyfield, and Vashti Cunningham. This is a rather lackluster trailer so far, not that these people aren't working hard, but it just seems so obvious. Of course parents want their kids to be the best, especially children of famous athletes. Plus we've already seen so many...

Exclusive: Imagine being the son of NBA great Dwyane Wade – one of the game’s all-time greats – and wanting to play basketball too.
That’s the reality for Zaire Wade, Dwyane’s eldest son, who was drafted last October by the Salt Lake City Stars of the NBA G League. Zaire, who turns 20 on Friday, has got some skills like his father, who just turned 40.
“Now, when I ask him to play [1-on-1],” Zaire said in a recent interview, “he doesn’t want to play me no more. He says he’s too old.”
Joking aside, those are some big shoes to fill. The six-part documentary series Legacy: In the Shadow of Greatness, launching on the Discovery+ streaming platform on March 8, explores what it’s like to be the offspring of a famous athlete and, like your dad, wanting to excel in sport.

The return to boxing by former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield after more than a decade away from the sport did not go well.
The 58-year-old Holyfield was Tko’d in the first round by Vitor Belfort in a PPV match Saturday at Florida’s Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Holyfield was returning to boxing as a last-minute fill-in for Oscar De La Hoya, who dropped out after contracting Covid-19.
Belfort, a 44-year-old former UFC fighter, was on Holyfield from the first bell, backing him into the ropes with a flurry of quick punches. Holyfield was knocked to the canvas twice before the referee stopped the match.
Holyfield never landed a punch. The former champ is best known for his two victories over Mike Tyson, which include the famous “ear bite” fight between the two.
Belfort was gracious after the match.

Less than 9 months after leaving office, Donald Trump has lined up a fun new job.
Trump, and his son, Donald Trump Jr, have been hired to commentate on Triller’s upcoming boxing event, headlined by the Evander Holyfield-Vitor Belfort match, set for Saturday. During a so-called “alternate telecast,” the two will provide commentary for all four of the scheduled Triller Fight Club matches, ESPN reported Tuesday.
The Trumps’ fight commentary will be one of two options for people shelling out $49.95 to watch 58-year-old Holyfield and 44-year-old Vitor Belfort beat each other up. Longtime HBO fight commentator Jim Lampley will call the official telecast alongside former welterweight world champion Shawn Porter. Either way, the event will stream on Fite.TV.

Donald Trump To Provide Boxing Commentary For Triller’s Evander Holyfield-Vitor Belfort Bout On 9/11
Donald Trump has long fancied himself a boxing expert.
In the ’90s, he put on the Mike Tyson-Michael Spinks bout at his Atlantic City casino. As the 45th President of the United States, he pardoned heavyweight champion Jack Johnson in an Oval Office ceremony attended by Lennox Lewis, Deontay Wilder and Sylvester Stallone. He also claimed to have won $20 million betting on Evander Holyfield when he upset Mike Tyson in 1996, though no sports book could ever confirm Trump placed such a bet.
That last story may surface again on Saturday, when the former president will “provide guest commentary” for the heavyweight boxing match between former champion Holyfield, 58, and former UFC champ Vitor Belfort, 44. The bout is set for Saturday, September 11 at the Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. It’s promoted by Triller, the social media platform co-owned by former Relativity Media boss Ryan Kavanaugh.

Showtime confirmed to Deadline this evening that it had made a deal with YouTube star and nascent professional boxer Jake Paul. Details of the agreement were not available, but Paul advisor Nakisa Bidarian told ESPN Wednesday that talks about the potential opponent, date and location are at an advanced stage.
Paul is 3-0 record as professional fighter. His first match against YouTuber AnEsonGib, ended with a first found Tko. In his second match, Paul knocked out former NBA star Nate Robinson in the second round. Last month, Paul knocked out Mma fighter Ben Askren, who had never boxed professionally before, in the first round.
The Askren fight was promoted by the Ryan Kavanaugh-backed Triller, which is not involved in the new Showtime deal.
“Jake is proud of the events he participated in with Triller and appreciates the opportunities they afforded him,” Bidarian told ESPN. “Jake is excited to continue...

Fans of the fight game may not take Jake Paul seriously, but all signs point to his commitment to professional boxing being legitimate.
The majority of people who have heard of Paul likely came to know him through his time as a Disney actor, rapper, or YouTube personality. It’s the foundation of his polarizing celebrity status, and now he’s trying to parlay that into a fighting career.
Whether you love him or hate him, Paul can’t be deemed unsuccessful. His YouTube channel has more than 20 million subscribers.

In “Coming 2 America,” Eddie Murphy’s character, Prince Akeem Joffer, lives in a sprawling fictional palace called Zamundan, but in reality, it is the mega-mansion of one of rap’s biggest names — Biggest Boss Rick Ross.
Ross offered his estate to the producers of the film and mentioned in a virtual tour of the home that it is, indeed, used in Murphy’s latest. In the video, Ross says there are usually “18-20 people” who want to see the mansion and that his team charges them an entry fee to look around. Other films that have shot at the location include “Superfly.”
The palatial home in Woosley, Georgia, was the former residence of boxing legend Evander Holyfield and spans over 109 rooms, 235 acres and more than 50,000 square feet, with Google Maps listing the location as a museum.

Eddie Murphy’s return as Prince Akeem Joffer in “Coming 2 America” (streaming now on Prime Video) brings the comedy franchise back to the fictional Zamunda, home to the royal family and its future heir.
Much of the Zamunda setting was recreated in Georgia, with the palatial palace brought to life courtesy of rapper Rick Ross, who opened the doors of his estate on the outskirts of Atlanta to the film’s production team.
Says production designer Jefferson Sage: “Our big problem was, where do we find a house that had the scale of the possibilities for a very lavish palace?”
Sage and his team scouted multiple locations before zeroing in on the Ross estate, which would serve as the bones of the lush royal palace.

When you think of boxing, there are a number of fighters that come to mind. Names like Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, and, of course, Muhammad Ali are all near the top of the list of most popular fighters of all time.
