Henry Cavill imagined as Magneto in MCU fan art, drawing inspiration from the X-Men '97 TV show version. Cavill has been raised as a possible MCU X-Men Magneto, but this could be a miscast for the actor. A better fit for Cavill in MCU could be Cyclops, which would also place him in a central role for the franchise.
New Marvel Cinematic Universe fan art imagines Henry Cavill as the X-Men villain Magneto for the Marvel Studios reboot. With the character rights finally back at Marvel Studios, the McU's X-Men movie is on its way, as the iconic characters will finally get rebooted and imagined in the Avengers-based franchise. As there are multiple iconic characters that will have to get recast, the MCU audience is constantly bringing up various actors for certain X-Men roles.

When it comes to social media engagements and interactions of the fans with the profiles of Hollywood icon Tom Cruise and former WWE Superstar and pro wrestling icon John Cena, they cannot be considered anything other than polar opposites of one another.
While at one place, Cruise is known to be completely dedicated to his career and posts only about his films and other ventures, Cena takes a different route and posts random pictures which has a deeper meaning that not everyone could understand.
Tom Cruise in a still from Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning
But when it comes to words, both these stars are equal parts humorous on their Instagram, and when compared to each other, they both have some interesting bios to share. While Cena is more simple and direct with what he has to offer on his page, Cruise indulges in an inside joke about him running in almost all of his films.

While live-action adaptations have brought some of the best characters to the screen, the comic book realm still boasts a plethora of elements and characters that can easily outshine even the most beloved favorites from both the DC and Marvel universes.

Saying that James Marsden rose to fame as Cyclops (Scott Summers) after he starred in Fox’s 2000 flick adaptation of the mutant team, X-Men, won’t be wrong. Playing the mutant Scott Summers, who shoots intense energy beams from his eyes, Marsden made his X-Men team debut alongside Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey, and Halle Berry’s Storm.
Despite being a prominent character in Marvel Comics, Cyclops’ role in the X-Men films was nevertheless greatly diminished. And he seemed so unimportant that the third installment of the series, X-Men: The Last Stand, could have done without him.

Sir Ian McKellen’s portrayal of X-Men villain Magneto is simply too iconic. Rousing speech before a battle might be Magneto’s way of doing things. Sir McKellen, however, is more like another X-Men character than his own. The advice he gave to X-Men co-star Hugh Jackman is proof enough of how unlike Magento he is.

Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of the most beloved and celebrated fantasy adaptations. Twenty years after the epic concluded with The Return of the King in 2003, the films continue to draw in new fans. While not perfect, the films manage to capture the magic of J.R.R. Tolkien's novels and bring the world of Middle Earth to life.
With Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power having released season 1 and season 2 currently under production, a brand-new audience is being introduced to the world of Middle Earth. With that, new and old fans alike are likely to pick up the original film trilogy to experience more of Tolkien's story. The films were shot over twenty years ago and the cast has gone on to work on other amazing projects since then. It's time to see what the cast has been up to.

While it has been half a decade since MCU acquired the rights to X-Men following its acquisition of 20th Century Fox, there is yet to be an X-Men movie in sight. But to Disney’s credit, they finally gave X-Men: The Animated Series its due with X-Men ‘97, which has been a massive critical success, as it currently sits on a rare 100 percent at the Tomatometer.
However, a potential X-Men reboot might not be able to match the standard set by the animated release, as the factors that made the revival of the classic a hit would not translate well into the MCU.

The first X-Men film was iconic on so many different levels. Not only did it bring life to some of the most beloved characters from Marvel comics, but also laid the foundations for what we now know as the superhero genre. The film had an iconic cast, with actors like Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and James Marsden, taking up the roles of the iconic mutants.

However, the one thing well-known about the genre is that clothing isn’t the most comfortable and it would seem that the 2000 film first created such a notion. During an interview, Marsden once revealed that his and Jackman’s costumes were extremely uncomfortable for the first X-Men film.

Introduced in the 1990’s Uncanny X-Men #266, Gambit quickly won the hearts of fans as he had interesting abilities and a multilayered backstory, which resonated heavily with series’ reader-base. With the ability to charge inanimate objects with energy and convert them into deadly weapons, Gambit captivated the X-Men fandom. A thief by profession, he was extremely agile and a strategist by nature.
Gambit from X-Men (1992)
The popularity sky-rocketed when he made a brief appearance in Hugh Jackman’s 2009 film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Fans were ecstatic to see The Trickster make an appearance, which led to Channing Tatum being offered to play the role in a standalone film.
However, Marvel decided to pull the plug on the film, as Edgar Wright, who was offered to write the script of the anti-hero, turned down the offer.

Many of us were excited about the prospect of The New Mutants a few years ago. The sales pitch of an “X-Men horror movie” sounded like a match made in heaven. As often happens, the film that was released was far more of a pillow fight than the cage match I’d hoped for.
But as we excitedly embrace the kid in us with the release of X-Men ’97 on Disney+, I couldn’t help but imagine a more adult side of that universe. What if the X-Men franchise embraced the opportunity to lean into the horror genre? I’m talking about the body horror of its mutants, the cruelness of its villains, and the potential for superhumanly violent finishers that would make Mortal Kombat blush. With all that in mind, I took a look through the original X-Men films on a horror scavenger hunt and found some pretty cool trinkets along the way.

While the live-action Marvel Universe is dominated by the Avengers, Marvel comics have had a different character hierarchy. The entire multiverse seemed to revolve around the stories of the X-Men as a whole and while the Avengers were important, they simply weren’t as significant as the mutants. They were the reason for the success of the franchise and the culturally significant impact it has had over decades.
X-Men (2000)
It would seem, that effect does not get brushed past by anyone, as the showrunner of X-Men ’97 revealed an interesting theory he has about the live-action universe that Marvel has created. X-Men '97 captures the nostalgic charm of the original series while offering new and exciting storylines for adult fans to enjoy. The updated animation style in X-Men '97 is a subtle improvement, preserving the original aesthetic while incorporating impressive sequences. The revival series knows its audience has grown up, delivering a living homage to the beloved X-Men: The Animated Series.
Long before making X-Men screen adaptations meant expanding the bubble around Hugh Jackman's ridiculously popular Wolverine, or endlessly remaking the Dark Phoenix Saga, X-Men: The Animated Series was a founding stone of Saturday Morning TV. Almost three decades on, X-Men '97 rejoins the ranks of active Marvel properties in a strangely pertinent allegory for Marvel Studios' fascination with nostalgic, fan-baiting cameos. And Beau DeMayo's revival proves it was always about a lot more than just the catchiest theme tune in superhero TV history.

The co-creator of 24 tried to acquire the rights to The Da Vinci Code in 2003 to use it as a storyline for the show. A proposed adaptation of The Da Vinci Code for 24's third season was roundly rejected by author Dan Brown. The eventual Da Vinci Code movie franchise became a huge global success, grossing $1.4 billion.
A huge Tom Hanks movie franchise almost became a season of 24 instead. When the creators of 24 first conceived of the show, they were picturing a real-time comedy surrounding the disastrous lead-up to a wedding. It later morphed into a thriller following Kiefer Sutherland's harried CTU agent Jack Bauer, who throughout nine seasons of 24 (and a TV movie) faced various days from hell while preventing terrorist attacks. It also spawned a spinoff called 24: Legacy, which was canceled after one season in 2017.
24 season 5 is considered the franchise's high point, both critically and in terms of viewership.

Christopher Nolan's next project may be a reboot of the 1967 British TV series, The Prisoner. Nolan's interest in making a big screen version of The Prisoner dates back to 2009. The Prisoner follows an abducted intelligence agent trapped in a mysterious village - perfect for Nolan's style.

As Christopher Nolan basks in the afterglow of Oppenheimer’s dominant performance at the 96th annual Academy Awards – including a best picture win for the film and a long-overdue best director nod for Nolan himself – speculation is growing about what the British filmmaker will tackle next for his 13th feature. Nolan is typically reticent to speak about future projects; with the director working on a more or less three-year cycle for his last several films, he might not even officially say anything about his new movie until later in 2024 or early in 2025.

The failed 2009 TV remake of The Prisoner shows the challenge of adapting existing content for modern audiences. A potential Christopher Nolan Prisoner movie would face obstacles in updating the story without losing its original appeal. Despite potential difficulties, a Nolan-directed Prisoner movie remains an exciting prospect due to his history of creating unique cinematic experiences.
Christopher Nolan is rumored to be working on a big-budget movie adaptation of The Prisoner, but a TV disaster from 15 years ago proves it’ll be a challenge to bring this story to the big screen. The Prisoner is a surreal, short-lived cult classic British sci-fi series from the 1960s about a secret agent stranded on a mysterious island. After winning Best Picture and Best Director for Oppenheimer at the Oscars, Nolan has the freedom to make whatever movie he wants – but this particular project would be tough to pull off.

2023 was a miraculous year for German actress Sandra Huller. Not only did she receive critical acclaim for her riveting portrayal of a woman on trial for murdering her husband in France’s “Anatomy of a Fall,” she was also praised for her role as the wife of a Nazi commander in the United Kingdom’s German-language “The Zone of Interest.” Indeed, there was much interest in Huller and her two films. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for “Anatomy.” And both “Anatomy” and “Zone” landed slots for Best Picture, as well as Best Director bids for Justine Triet and Jonathan Glazer, respectively.
As I was speaking to academy members ahead of last Sunday’s ceremony, I detected a surprisingly robust amount of support for Huller. And many of those who had voted for her mentioned her work in “The Zone of Interest.” It really did seem...

Marvel Studios has confirmed that the McU's X-Men reboot is in development, so these iconic heroes and their villains will debut soon. After earning seven Academy Awards for his latest opus, Oppenheimer, everyone wants to know what Christopher Nolan will be doing next. The short answer, of course, is anything he wants. But, buried within a Variety report about how much the director earned for Oppenheimer is a juicy tidbit teasing he might be directing an adaptation of the classic ’60s series The Prisoner! Widely considered one of the greatest TV shows of all time, it starred Patrick McGoohan (who was also the creative mind behind the show) as an unnamed British spy dumped on an island prison for those who were too valuable to be allowed to roam free. Dubbed “The Village”, the former spies don’t have names, but are rather known by their numbers. He’s known as Number 6, with Number 2 being in charge of the never-seen Number 1. The series plays like a psychedelic, cerebral James Bond movie, meaning...

Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin believes character deaths should be transformative and impactful. Martin criticized Tolkien's Gandalf resurrection, arguing death should be final to maintain story power and as such it would have been better if Tolkein had left him dead. George R. R. Martin's realistic approach to character resurrection where characters ultimately lose aspects of themselves differs from Tolkien's more fantastical storytelling style.
Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin, is famed for killing off his characters in an unexpected and spectacular fashion. While it's always difficult to see a beloved character be taken out of the story for good, it makes the stakes feel much higher. Martin clearly has a strict view on how death should be treated in fiction, as he's even criticized The Lord of the Rings' treatment of the concept while raising some fair points.

Christopher Nolan took home two Oscars on Sunday night for director and producer of “Oppenheimer.” But his ultimate haul for the period drama was so much bigger.
Nolan’s final payday for the film, which traces the life of titular scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his role in creating the atomic bomb, is just south of $100 million, according to knowledgeable sources. That figure represents a combination of salary, backend compensation, box-office escalators and a bonus for his twin Academy Awards. A representative for the filmmaker didn’t respond to a request for comment.
The Universal film — which nabbed seven Oscars total, including trophies for actor Cillian Murphy and supporting actor Robert Downey Jr. — was made on a budget of $100 million. After its release on July 19, becoming half of the one-two “Barbenheimer” punch, the film earned $958 million worldwide, a mammoth sum considering “Oppenheimer’s” R rating and three-hour running time. Tolkien's The Hobbit Didn't Need to Be a Trilogy Due to issues with funding from the studios, the films were massively delayed and caused a change in directors. The Hobbit films suffer from being a trilogy. J.R.R. Tolkien's almost 300-page book simply didn't have enough material for three movies. Some of the changes from book to screen in The Hobbit made sense for the story to tie it into The Lord of the Rings, but much of it felt either like filler or completely unnecessary.

“Oppenheimer” took home an impressive seven Academy Awards at Sunday’s Oscars, including the night’s top prize of Best Picture. The Universal movie also won Best Director for Christopher Nolan and Best Actor for Cillian Murphy amongst a number of other awards. That is one below the total of eight wins we predicted for the film as “The Zone of Interest” beat the movie to win Best Sound. However, seven is still a huge tally and places “Oppenheimer” amongst the Best Picture winners to take home the highest amount of Oscars this century. Scroll down below for a complete list of every Best Picture winner this century ranked by total Oscar wins.

“It’s such a drama putting that suit on,” said Vinnie Jones, explaining why he turned down the chance to play Juggernaut in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Besides the title characters played by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool & Wolverine will include a whole raft of superhero cameos from what we can gather (assuming superheroes hang around on rafts).
One actor who won’t be reprising a familiar role, though, is Vinnie Jones, last seen as Juggernaut in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. In an interview with Yahoo Movies, Jones revealed that he’d been asked whether he fancied reprising his role as the heavyweight villain in this summer’s latest opus. But despite having an affection for 2016’s Deadpool, Jones turned the role down – due to the physical and mental toll of putting on the old costume again, and also because of his less-than-happy memories of making X-Men 3.

The Lord of the Rings is complex and detailed, involving various topics and themes that keep the epic narratives irresistibly watchable for their entirety. J.R.R Tolkien had developed a world in such depth that it required a number of subject matters to make the creation believable as well as entertaining.
Some scenes are heartwarming or happy. The simplicity of the lives of Hobbits in the Shire always brings smiles to viewers' faces. The friendships between the likes of Legolas and Gimli or Gandalf and Frodo are nothing short of endearing to watch as the characters endure a treacherous journey together. Even so, Tolkien had no intention of making the trilogy a light-hearted story line. The evil and spite that guided the plot brought dark scenes to the movies, with characters having to face some brutal situations.

Bad movies can sometimes conceal great ideas, ruined by inept creative decisions along the way. Cult followings often form around bad films, making them seem so bad they're good. Intriguing movie concepts often fall flat if not executed well, leading to disappointment from fans and critics.

Bad movies are always interesting case studies of the pitfalls of creating art, especially with financial problems, studio meddling, or behind-the-scenes chaos. Sir Ian McKellen is one of the most recognizable and influential actors of our time. He has been a force in countless productions, earning everything from multiple Olivier Awards to a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play in 1980. Later in that decade, McKellen came out as gay and would become a vocal and visible champion of Lgbtqia+ rights for decades to come. As a performer and public figure, he has achieved so much. The British icon would even be knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1991.

"Leave Sauron to me." — These are the last words spoken by Saruman the White (Sir Christopher Lee) in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. He and the other members of the White Council have expelled Sauron from his fortress of Dol Guldur in Mirkwood; Saruman’s words are a promise to finish off what’s left of the Dark Lord’s spirit. The next time we see him in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Saruman is in Sauron’s service, so far corrupted that he imprisons Gandalf (Ian McKellen), works for the destruction of Rohan, and breeds a foul army of Uruk-hai to make war and pursue the One Ring.

Fox's X-Men franchise has made an indelible mark on the superhero genre after running for nearly two decades (before joining the MCU), so it's no surprise that so many convincing fan theories have arisen during that time that change everything on a rewatch. Pamela Salem, who portrayed Miss Moneypenny in Never Say Never Again opposite Sean Connery in his final turn as James Bond, has died. She was 80.
Salem died Wednesday in Surfside, Florida, according to Big Finish Productions, for whom she participated in several audio productions.
“Whenever there was a Big Finish recording for her, she’d fly in from Miami on her own steam, without fuss or fanfare, and appear at the studio armed with the warmest smiles, the biggest hugs and often presents,” producer David Richardson said in a statement.
For the BBC’s Doctor Who, Salem played the sandminer pilot Lish Toos on 1977’s “The Robots of Death” and Professor Rachel Jensen on 1988’s “Remembrance of the Daleks.” She reprised both roles for Big Finish in the audio drama series The Robots and radio spinoff series Counter Measures.

Gandalf is a character synonymous with the movie adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and the wizard is played by the legendary Sir Ian McKellen. For a character who's appeared across all six movies, it is only natural that many of his various teachings, musings, and general pieces of dialogue have resonated and lasted in the memories of fans and audiences over the years.
Gandalf has certainly represented his class of wizards appropriately by passing his wisdom onto his others. At the same time, he has also uttered words of hope and defiance. In each case, his ability to inspire, inform, and advise others remains ever-present.
