Joe Lieberman, the former Connecticut senator and Al Gore’s Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2000, has died. He was 82.
His family said in a statement that he died due to complications from a fall.
“Senator Lieberman’s love of God, his family and America endured throughout his life of service in the public interest,” his family said. His wife, Hadassah, and other family members were at his side when he died, according to the statement.
At the time of his death, Lieberman was leading an effort to recruit a candidate for the group No Labels, which has been seeking a “unity” ticket to run independently of the Democratic and Republican parties.
Lieberman held to the view that, even in a time of hyper polarization, there was a common ground to be found in politics. His own career reflected that, and even those who criticized his positions found him friendly, kind and polite.

How does one repay a team of producers for launching its highest grossing film of all time? Give them the key to the studio — literally.
On Monday, “Barbie” producers, LuckyChap’s Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara inked a first-look deal at Warner Bros., which distributed the $1.4 billion-grossing movie. So, to celebrate, Warner Bros. Pictures Group Co-Chairs and CEO Pam Abdy and Michael De Luca decided to resurrect an old tradition, started by WB co-founder Jack Warner.
“Every once in a while, when a significant piece of talent signed a deal with the studio, he presented that company, that talent, with a key to the studio,” De Luca said as he and Abdy raised a toast to the trio. “We are so delighted to have our first key to our studio be given to LuckyChap.”

Sorry About Your Wife, Reuben: Filmmaker John Hamburg Looks Back on 20 Years with ‘Along Came Polly’
It’s been 20 years since senior Model Un delegate Polly Prince wandered back into the life of unlucky-in-love insurance adjuster Reuben Feffer.
Jennifer Aniston charmed the pants off Ben Stiller’s persnickety everyman as the chaotically seductive title character in “Along Came Polly”: filmmaker John Hamburg’s raunchy odd coupling about a New Yorker who catches his wife (a perfectly loath-able Debra Messing) cheating on him with a scuba instructor (a hysterical and jacked Hank Azaria) during their tropical honeymoon. Back in the city, with the misguided help of his friend and former child star Sandy Lyle (the late Philip Seymour Hoffman at his funniest), Reuben runs into blast from the past Polly, who may or may not be the real love of his life, just two weeks later.
From flooded apartment bathrooms and sweaty basketball matches to extra violent children’s books and an unforgettable salsa number, this...

The fourth Austin Powers movie was expected to give Mini-Me, played by Verne Troyer, a more significant role, showcasing a deeper exploration of his character. Director Jay Roach expressed uncertainty about how to continue the franchise without Troyer, emphasizing the integral role he played and the void his absence would leave. George Clooney will be back with another “Ocean’s” heist film, the actor confirmed.
Clooney told Uproxx while promoting “The Boys in the Boat,” which he directed, that there is a script in the works for a fourth “Ocean’s” film set after the events of 2007 movie “Ocean’s 13.” The film concluded Steven Soderbergh’s crime comedy trilogy at the time, and later led to 2018 spin-off “Ocean’s 8” starring Sandra Bullock as the sister of Clooney’s (presumed dead) character.
“We have a really good script for another ‘Ocean’s’ now, so we may end up doing another one,” Clooney said. “It’s actually a great script.”
Clooney added that the film won’t be called “Ocean’s 14,” saying, “Well … I don’t want to call it that … I mean, the idea is kind of like ‘Going in Style.'”
The reference is to 1979 heist comedy “Going In Style,” directed by Martin Brest.

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the summer pairing that brought in a billion dollars in box office revenues with Barbie, will reunite for the prequel to 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven, the first film in Steven Soderbergh’s one billion franchise. With audiences still seeing Robbie in pink and Gosling in mink, it may be hard to imagine the couple as anything else than Barbie and Ken. But Robbie and director Jay Roach have such a vivid vision for their currently untitled Ocean Eleven prequel that one can already see it: a glamorous Robbie as an incarnation of Ingrid Bergman and Grace Kelly and Gosling as a modern version of Cary Grant in an Alfred Hitchcock-inspired cat and mouse love story.

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are rumored to play Danny Ocean's parents in the Ocean's prequel movie, continuing a franchise trend. The Ocean's prequel movie is set to be directed by Jay Roach, who has promised both a heist movie and a love story. Clooney's response to the rumor is sure to increase interest in the idea of Gosling and Robbie's rumored roles.
George Clooney has the perfect response to Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling's rumored roles in the Ocean's Eleven prequel movie. Clooney starred in the Ocean's trilogy, which was released from 2001 to 2007, as the titular Danny Ocean, an ex-convict who recruits experts and orchestrates elaborate heists. Not much is known about the long-gestating Ocean's prequel movie other than Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling have been cast in lead roles, though a recent rumor may have revealed who the Barbie stars will be playing.

George Clooney is all in when it comes to Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling playing his parents in the upcoming Ocean’s 11 Prequel. The actor is the one who started it all as an ex-con as Danny Ocean in the film that spawned a franchise of the heist movies, counted among the best in the genre. The murmurs of Gosling and Robbie pairing up to play Danny’s parents in the prequel under director Jay Roach’s vision has been going on for some time and now has Clooney’s blessings as well.

George Clooney gave Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling his stamp of approval to play his parents in the upcoming “Ocean’s 11” prequel.
Besides the involvement of the “Barbie” stars, not much is known about the upcoming “Ocean’s” film. However, rumors have been swirling that Robbie and Gosling will portray Danny Ocean’s parents.
“Margot Robbie’s my mother? I’ve always thought that. And Ryan Gosling is my father, and when you think about it, it makes sense. Truly,” Clooney told Variety at “The Boys in the Boat” premiere.
Jay Roach is set to direct the prequel, with Carrie Solomon writing. While Clooney’s early 2000s trilogy took place in Las Vegas, as well the original 1960 film starring the Rat Pack, the new prequel is expected to take place in 1960s Europe. “Ocean’s 8,” the latest film in the franchise, came out in 2018, starring Sandra Bullock as Danny Ocean’s sister.

Last year, it was confirmed that both Barbie and Ken Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling would star in a new installment of the Ocean’s Eleven franchise. The pair will reportedly star as the parents of Danny Ocean.
According to Roger Friedman’s Showbiz411, the upcoming film is titled Oceans, and will serve as a prequel to the original Ocean’s Eleven trilogy, in which George Clooney portrayed Danny. Most plot details are being kept under wraps for now, but it’ll involve the Ocean parents teaching their children the fundamentals of orchestrating a heist and stealing from the rich.
Oceans will also reportedly be set in the 1960s, priming it for some nostalgic references to the original 1960 Ocean’s 11 that starred Frank Sinatra as its titular heist master. As for contemporary inspirations, we also have Greta Gerwig’s Barbie to thank for bringing Gosling into the fold, after producers saw his impeccable on-screen chemistry with Robbie.

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are set for the next Ocean’s film, and a couple more details have come to light.
Following the box office success of Ocean’s 8 in 2018, Warner Bros was soon mulling over what it could do next with the franchise. Since Steven Soderbergh remade the Rat Pack-headlined original Ocean’s 11 in 2001 (pictured), the films have been of mixed quality, but the box office returns reliable. A further chapter is thus not a surprise, although the decision not to retain the Ocean’s 8 cast is more of an eyebrow-raiser.
Instead, the next Ocean’s film is going back in time.
Our old friend Brendon Connelly has been in touch, with a bunch of new details about the film. Jay Roach, we knew, is set to direct, but we now learn that the current working title for it is simply Oceans, with no number in there at all.

The Ocean's film franchise consists of five movies, with three directed by Steven Soderbergh, and is known for its star-studded ensemble casts and elaborate heist storylines. The movies can be watched in release order, starting with the original Ocean's 11 from 1960, or in chronological order of events, beginning with Ocean's 11 (2001), as the numbers in the titles represent the number of characters involved in the heist. Ocean's 8 (2018), led by Sandra Bullock, introduced an all-female group of heist members but received mixed reviews from fans of the original trilogy who wanted to see the original characters and fresh updates to the franchise.

“It’s like asking a woman when she’s crowning, ‘Do you want to give birth, again?’ ” explains Patricia Arquette of being asked about future directing ambitions while still waiting to screen her debut. “You’re like, ‘Not now!’ ”
Arquette’s feature, Gonzo Girl, is an adaptation of the book by Cheryl Della Pietra, who drew on her time as Hunter S. In reading it, she saw the chance to explore themes, according to Arquette, that included — but were not limited to — “celebrity distortion, co-dependence, addiction, unhealed wounds, art, joy, life, sexuality.”

After their amazing chemistry in Greta Gerwig’s $1 billion ‘Barbie’, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are gearing up to reunite on screen for an ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ prequel movie. While it may indeed be hard to imagine Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as anything but Barbie and Ken right now, each escaping from Barbieland, the two will don completely new avatars after their feel-good fantasy comedy.
According to Collider, director Jay Roach has a very vivid vision for his currently untitled ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ prequel. He is in fact inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s psychological thriller films, and will go old school with its filmmaking techniques as it will be set in Monte Carlo in 1962.
Next to nothing has been revealed about the film, though Jay Roach has said that he aims to capture the same on-screen presence of Margot and Ryan which they showcased in ‘Barbie’, except this time it will be darker,...

"Ocean's 8" graced the big screen more than five years ago and it seemed to promise more to come. However, a sequel has yet to materialize for reasons unknown. Boasting an all-star ensemble including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Awkwafina, and Mindy Kaling, the third installment of the popular "Ocean's" franchise proved its mettle at the box office, amassing a worldwide total of $297.8M, a figure roughly on par with "Ocean's Thirteen." Additionally, it garnered favorable reviews from critics. Mixed audience reactions resulted in only a 47% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes. Overall, the picture achieved success.
Yet, here we are, the passage of time notwithstanding, still awaiting further escapades featuring Debbie Ocean and her cohorts. The question remains: Why has Warner Bros. not granted the green light for another chapter in this star-studded saga?
According to Paulson, the answer lies in scheduling. During an interview with Et,...

Austin Powers 4 is still in development, and Mike Myers has expressed interest in making another movie in the franchise. The timing is perfect for Austin Powers 4, as spy movies are experiencing a resurgence in popularity. The storyline for Austin Powers 4 is expected to focus on Dr. Evil and his son, and may include a tribute to the late Verne Troyer who played Mini-Me.
Is there still hope for Austin Powers 4? The spy parody franchise remains a well-loved comedy series starring Mike Myers in at least two iconic roles. Beginning with Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery in 1997, the Austin Powers movie trilogy was a set of spy spoofs that saw star and writer Mike Myers and director Jay Roach at the height of their considerable powers. Throughout the three increasingly surreal installments, the Meet the Parents director and Wayne's World creator took affectionate aim at the...

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, who showcased their incredible chemistry in "Barbie," are reuniting for the upcoming Ocean's 11 prequel, a romantic heist film set in Monte Carlo in 1962. The success of "Barbie," which became the highest-grossing movie from a female director and is expected to cross $1 billion at the box office, strengthens the prospects for the upcoming Ocean's prequel starring Robbie and Gosling. Despite the potential for success, it's unlikely that the Ocean's prequel will reach the same level of success as Barbie, as no individual Ocean's film has earned over $500 million at the box office yet, and it lacks the unique combination of elements that contributed to Barbie's massive success.
After highlighting their incredible comedic chemistry together in Barbie, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are reuniting for another movie that will excitingly showcase a different set of talents. As the movie event of 2023, Barbie’s box office is...

Oscar-winning actress Ariana DeBose, Warner Bros. Pictures Group co-chair and CEO Pamela Abdy and nationally recognized trial lawyer Wylie A. Aitken have joined the American Film Institute’s board of trustees, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
“AFI is the place where artistry and academia meet,” Kathleen Kennedy, the board’s chair, tells THR. “The addition of Pam, Wylie and Ari to the board will further propel our national mandate to inspire, to educate and, ultimately, to drive culture forward.”
The board, which sets AFI’s priorities and guides its national education programs, is already packed with big names. Among them: actors Halle Berry and Michael B. Jordan; filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Ava DuVernay; TV creators Jay Roach and Shonda Rhimes; studio/network chiefs Ted Sarandos and Donna Langley; power-agents Bryan Lourd and Chris Silbermann; the noted academic Jeanine Basinger; MPA chief Charles Rivkin, SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher; and Academy of...

The summer’s most anticipated comedy is Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. After her two box office misfires of 2022 — “Amsterdam” and “Babylon” — Robbie is on the cusp of her first critical darling and giant financial hit in a long while. Two of her acclaimed performances brought her Academy Award nominations in the previous decade, so with “Barbie” opening in theaters, let’s look back at Robbie’s two Oscar races.
Her first Oscar nomination came in 2018 in the Best Actress category for her performance as Tonya Harding in “I, Tonya.” Written by Steven Rogers and directed by Craig Gillespie, the film tells the true-life story of Harding’s rise in the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and how everything came crashing down. Robbie had been received Oscar buzz for at least one of her movies before this — Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street,...

Plot: Why did the world suddenly treat stuffed animals like gold? Ty Warner was a frustrated toy salesman until his collaboration with three women grew his masterstroke of an idea into the biggest toy craze in history. “The Beanie Bubble” is an inventive story about what and who we value, and the unsung heroes whose names didn’t appear on the heart-shaped tag.
Review: Everyone likely knows what a Beanie Baby is. The tiny plush toys were an insane fad in the 1990s, predating Crypto and NFTs by decades. But, unlike many fads, Beanie Babies became a lucrative financial market during the early days of the World Wide Web and marketplaces like eBay. While the crash reduced toys valued at thousands of dollars to just pennies, the toy’s creator, Ty Warner, remained a multi-millionaire. Despite a felony tax conviction, Warner remains extremely wealthy thanks to his revolutionized plush idea.
